  Hello , Please help me in the following case. I am using log4net api in my application to log any important event or information as well as logging my exceptions in database. There might be an exception while using log4net api , if it fails to perform logging into database then HOW THIS EXCEPTION WILL BE STORED? WHERE ALL OTHER LOGGING AND EXCEPTION LOGGING WILL BE STORED IN CASE IF THIS LOG4NET API FAILS TO PERFORM LOGGING ?? Plese help me. I am a final year student of Undergraduate Studies. Thank you!

• Dart Can't get logging statements to compile

  I'm trying to learn how to implement logging using the examples/tutorial in: http://blog.dartwatch.com/2013/05/campaign-to-use-real-logging-instead-of.html#comment-form But having imported the libraries this line in main will not compile because the class 'PrintHandler' is not recognized and Google has not been a help in this case. My server application consists of a main and three classes. I'm new at Dart. Below I've extracted the logging code that I added. In what library is 'PrintHandler'? • Getting my app to work on my phone

  Hello I wrote an app android sdk version 1.5 using it's built in emulator in eclipse. I created a database outside of eclipse populated it with data and push it to the emulator folder data/data/project name/database and could access it fine from the my app, everything was working great. My final step was to test the apk file on an actual phone. When I did that the program would not work. After looking into it I found that the database file was not being uploaded into the phone. Is there a special way to install the apk file on the actual phone to get the embedded database to work? Or can I assume that since everything worked fine on the sdk 1.5 emulator that everything will work when I upload it to the market. Thanks in advance.

• What tools do people use to make programming tutorial videos?

  Hi folks, I'm wanting to make some yee-run-o-the-mill tutorial video's about some programming concepts and stuff i've been doing. Nothing special ... lots of peeps been doing it. What tools are people using to record and edit these videos? What resolutions / fonts / sizes do people generally use/set? The only tool I've had experience with is Camtasia - and i didn't mind it. But i've seen vid's (or live demo's) where people zoom in to code sections.. how do they do that? For final editing, do most people just do some simple power point presentation with some video snippets mashed in. cheers!

  hello there , i know that there is some rules and standards in css handling but i mean which one is closer to a human thinking. for example : when i give a DIV tag a height property of 100px i just want it to be 100px! but in Firefox i should work on min-height or max-width and so on ! there is many like this examlpe , i think IE read css more humanestic against Firefox. i have several experiences in this case , your final nice design in IE can be a mess in Firefox thats because of the way they handle css. Firefox act as a robot but IE act as a human-half robot ! its just my idea. i will be glad to hear and learn from you proffesionals and other friends here. thank you.

• Android layout issue - table/grid/linear

  I am trying to wrap my head around some basic layout issues in android. Here is what I want as my final goal: As you can see, various fields set up like that. The fields get filled in based on XML data. There could be 1 set of fields, or there could be more. I tried a tablelayout, but couldn't get it set up right even when layout_span for Field 7. It worked ok, but when I tried to change the widths of Field 1 thru 5, the spanned row below it didn't conform to the changes (not like an HTML table would). The fields in each group need to lineup if there are more than one (see red lines in image). Can someone point me in the right direction on how I should approach this? Thanks

• Large amount of constants in Java

  I need to include about 1 MByte of data in a Java application, for very fast and easy access in the rest of the source code. My main background is not Java, so my initial idea was to convert the data directly to Java source code, defining 1MByte of constant arrays, classes (instead of C++ struct) etc., something like this: public final/immutable/const MyClass MyList[] = { { 23012, 22, "Hamburger"} , { 28375, 123, "Kieler"} }; However, it seems that Java does not support such constructs. Is this correct? If yes, what is the best solution to this problem?

  I'm sitting with a problem where I need to pass more than 2000 characters from my Flash application to an HTML page which reads the information and displays the correct options made in the Flash app the person came from. All's good but on the final stage, when the user needs to post their choices to a form, the character cannot be sent because the string is too long. Is there a way to use a service such as Bitly or TinyURL to send these long string and for them to be "deconstruction" on the other end when the form is sent? Otherwise, is there another solution to this problem? Many thanks!

• strange bug - how to pause a java program?

  I'm trying to: display a text in a jLabel, wait for two seconds, then write a new text in the jLabel this should be simple, but I get a strange bug: the first text is never written, the application just waits for 2 seconds and then displays the final text. here is the example code: private void testButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { displayLabel.setText("Clicked!"); // first method with System timer /* long t0= System.currentTimeMillis(); long t1= System.currentTimeMillis(); do{ t1 = System.currentTimeMillis(); } while ((t1 - t0) < (2000)); */ // second method with thread.sleep() try { Thread.currentThread().sleep(2000); } catch (InterruptedException e) {} displayLabel.setText("STOP"); } with this code, the text "Clicked!" is never displayed.   Hi, I'm pretty new in developing programs in Java. I'm currently writing a program that converts a flv video into mp3. I have already written such a program in Visual Studio.net C#, but the Problem is, that it isn't cross platform compatible... I used the ffmpeg binary to convert the video into mp3, but I can't find ffmpeg binaries for Mac and Linux. (if so, I could start the specific binaries from java, depending on the OS) So I tried to convert the video with Xuggle, but the final mp3 has 0 bytes. I can extract all the information in the gas price table (address, time submitted etc.), except for the actual gas price. Is there a way I could scrap the gas prices? i.e. somehow get a text representation of it. I'm not very familiar with ASP/ASPX - but what's being generated now is not showing up in the final HTML. I'm using Python to do the scrapping, but that's irrelevant unless there's a specific library...

• ASP MVC Creating Form Rows Dynamically

  Hi Guys, I haven't even attempted this yet and am creating this question for advice really. I have a strongly typed page which receives a form model composed of several components. It is to create a mitigating circumstance (MC) for a student at a university for my final year project. A MC can be composed of the initial problem, assessment extensions, and I use a multi select box to allow the user to select staff retrieved from the database which are able to view the MC once created. The thing is I feel that a student could be granted many assignment extensions for one problem. I am wander if it is possible to include a button/image on the form which when clicked will create a new assessment extension object, and duplicate the form components to set the values for the object? This would all need to occur without any page refreshes. Any advice, or links to good tutorials would be appreciated. I have so far been unable to find any suitable examples. Thanks, Jon

• UITableView animations for a "lazy" UI design?

  I have a UITableViewController that allows the user to perform editing tasks. Now, once a user has committed his change, the table view doesn't directly change the model and updates the table, rather "informs" the model what the user wants to do. The model in turn updates accordingly and then posts a notification that it has been changed. As far as I've seen, I need to begin/end updates on the tableview and in between change the model to its' final form. My changes though, are asynchronous and cannot guarantee to update the model before 'tableview endupdates' is called. Currently, each time I receive a 'model did change' notificaiton, I reload the entire table. So, how can I really make cell animations (delete/insert) work? Should the model fire a notification for each little change instead of the entire table?
