  hi guyz; i am using netbeans6.7.1 and phpmyadmin for my db to develop a java application to manage students records i want to upload students photos through browsing by clicking a browse buton which i have included in my interface I mean when i click on that button a JFilechooser pops up which filter only images(i have acomplished this) 1.) what i need is when i click on the "Attach button" of the JFilechooser, i want the image i chose to be attached to a jtextArea on the form i'm working with and the JFilechooser be diposed off. 2.) Also how i can save this form together with the image to a database table Is there a place where i can find a good guide/tutorial about that

• Migrating from CPython to Jython

  I'm considering moving my code (around 30K LOC) from CPython to Jython, so that I could have better integration with my java code. Is there a checklist or a guide I should look at, to help my with the migration? Does anyone have experience with doing something similar? From reading the Jython site, most of the problems seem too obscure to bother me. I did notice that: thread safety is an issue Unicode support seems to be quite different, which may be a problem for me mysqldb doesn't work and needs to be replaced with zxJDBC Anything else?   Hi, I'm trying to create a CD-burning feature for a Java-based music player for my school project. Since I'm new to real-life programming (I've only learned to write codes on AP Computer Science A level), I don't know how I can apply the concepts I learned from APCS A to this task. A friend of mine who is studying computer science at graduate school told me to "look up the cd player control functions and add methods in those classes to read in data that you want to write to the CD, write it to a buffer, write everything in the buffer to the CD itself, clear the buffer and then write a new chunk of data into the buffer," but I can't quite grasp what this means, and tt's really hard to contact her right now because she's busy working on her dissertation. Can someone from this forum please guide me through & explain the general concepts? Thank you!

  I am trying to implement InApp purchase in my application. I have implemented it as per Apple's programming guide and it(code) was working fine until I created new application, appid, provisioning profile and in-app products @ another developer account. Now, it gives me following error. Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=3 UserInfo=0x2a5a00 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" Same code works fine if I use previous developer account's appid, pro-certificate and product ids. This is very strange issue, I double checked product id names and other things still facing same error. Any clue..?

  I followed every step given in this guide: http://help.github.com/linux-key-setup/ When I get to the end I am able to ssh to [email protected], getting the response: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 Hi AlexBaranosky! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access. Connection to github.com closed But when I go to clone my repo it fails saying: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I've used Github a lot, but this is my first use of it from an Ubuntu computer, is there something I am missing here?   so googling around it appears that the general consensus is that embedding version numbers in REST URIs is a bad practice and a bad idea. even on SO there are strong proponents supporting this. e.g. Best practices for API versioning? My question is about how to accomplish the proposed solution of using the accept header / content negotiation in the django-rest-framework to accomplish this. It looks like content negotiation in the framework, http://django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/content-negotiation.html is already configured to automatically return intended values based on accepted MIME types. If I start using the Accept header for custom types, I'll lose this benefit of the framework. Is there a better way to accomplish this in the framework?

  I was trying to ssh into my Hostgator shared hosting account following this guide: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/getting-started/how-do-i-get-and-use-ssh-access However, it returns this error: Received disconnect from 96.125.167.124: 2: Too many authentication failures for tridn I tried to search around for a solution, and found this: http://www.ipreferjim.com/2011/07/hostgator-ssh-warns-too-many-authentication-failures/ I tried doing what he suggested, but encountered another error: jailshell: .ssh/authorized_keys: No such file or directory So I ssh into my server using the PubkeyAuthentication=n flag, and create a directory called .ssh and a file called authorized_keys. I then redid what was suggested in the article, which is this: cat ~/.ssh/hostgator.pub | ssh -p 2222 -o PubkeyAuthentication=no [email protected] 'cat >> .ssh/authorized_keys' (note: my ssh key is called hostgator.pub. it's dsa I verified that the authorized_keys now has the content of this key. However, it still get the same error as before: eceived disconnect from 96.125.167.124: 2: Too many authentication failures for tridn Anybody knows how I should proceed next?

  I have a grid datawindow with a picture in it's background (with dimensions of an A4 page) and I would like to export both data and the picture as a (single page) PDF file. You (and your users) must download and install it before you can use this technique… Does anyone have any idea what is the procedure?

• Settings up a Mercurial server on IIS 6

  Hi, I've set up a Mercurial server on a Windows 2003 / IIS 6 machine and when I try to pull the repository I get the following sequence requesting all changes adding changesets adding manifests adding file changes transaction abort! rollback completed abort: premature EOF reading chunk (got 91303 bytes, expected 1542634) I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, but with no success. I followed the steps of Jeremy Skinners guide on doing it for IIS7, but on an IIS6 server. I found a post where the author was experiencing the same issue, but was unable to find a solution. So far it looks like the solution is to migrate to Apache or upgrade to Windows 2008/II7 .. but if someone knows how to solve this, please let me know

I have another table calleed item which consists of fields item_id, item_name, price. I have another table called quotation which consists of fields q_id, item_id,item_name,price. Now I cant figure out how do i compare the item_name from temp to the field item_name from item. And then, insert the values of item in quoatation table. Can anyone guide me please?

  Hi, i have a form where i have the field "Real Cost" i want to customize its appearance and wither it should be validated based on user role. to be more clear is say the client want to show his field in the form or details page and also make it editable for users in Roles "Senior Sales, Manager" but not other roles, so can anyone please guide me of the best way ? should i write custom required validation based on user in role, and if so can you please provide the right implementation of it? some may tell me create custom model for this, but i think it would be hassle plus the Roles will be dynamic so it is not predefined set of roles. i hope i was clear enough

• Supporting multiple screen sizes with Android using ImageButtons

  I've read the Android documentation: http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html but still have some questions. I'm trying to design a music application which basically has images of the instrument (ImageButton) that play a sound when clicked. However, I'm confused about how to have the ImageButtons scale to fit all the different screen sizes and how to position them. Which layout is best used for needing to position ImageButtons in specific locations on the screen? (i.e. cymbals on a drum set) FrameLayout, RelativeLayout? If I only really care about medium and large screens, do I need to create different resources (images) for both as well as a different XML layout to position them? I'm trying to find the simplest way to do this without having to create a separate layout XML file for positioning/size and separate image resources for each screen. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  I'm writing a business-focused iPhone app which includes a self-hosted server component. I'd like to include push notification functionality in the server; reading through the programming guide it looks as if this would involve either: Distributing the provider certificate with the server component - this doesn't sound like a terribly good idea (even if Apple permits it?) Hosting a shared notification provider and forwarding notifications to APNS from the servers. For an ongoing, high-availability service, this is likely to require including a subscription pricing component, which I would prefer to avoid. Require customers to apply for their own provider certificate. However, it's not clear whether multiple organisations are allowed to apply for provider certificates with a single bundle ID, and it would significantly increase the barrier to adoption. APNS looks to me as if it's specifically geared for centrally hosted services. Is anyone distributing self-hosted notification providers? Are there any other options?

  OpenSSL documents state that it can safely be used in multi-threaded applications provided that at least two callback functions are set, locking_function and threadid_func.... I've written programs which use OpenSSL API. Moreover, I know how to use pthreads. However, the OpenSSL documents are written in the form of a manual, and I can't see a step-by-step guide on what I have to do when using OpenSSL in a multi-threaded app. Is there a tutorial on using OpenSSL with pthreads? (I searched the web, but no satisfactory result appeared.) PS: I'm working in Debian Lenny & Ubuntu Lucid/Maverick. PS2: OpenSSL includes a sample, but it's far too complicated to start with.

  Hi all, I tried sample example given at this link - Collection View Programming Guide It is simple and it worked. Considering it as a reference I tried a simple application which will show a collection view of web views with some web page displayed over each web view. The model class has two properties: NSString *pageName, and NSURL *pageURL. I then followed each and every step written in tutorial above with required modifications but I was caught in the step - How to bind web view to collection view item? In binding tab it shows three possibilities : Editable, Hidden, Tool tip but none of these is working. Can anyone suggest me way to accomplish my requirement? Thanks, Miraaj

  I know similar questions have been asked before. I'm using the Sync Demo app I found online here, which uses Picture Sharing as a guide. I've integrated it into my desktop and iphone apps and have the connection working, but am clueless as to how to actually sync my objects. Is it as simple as if ([iphone Object] != [desktop object]) { //merge the two } I have the exact same object model used, I just basically want to know how to check if there are differences, and copy the ones that are different over. • TFS and SVN code Merge

  We are a small team of 8. 3 are from other country and they are using the Source controller as TFS and TFS server is also located there and they have only 4 licence. So we (5 developers) are using SVN source controller as local source controller and for every 3 days we are taking the TFS latest and merging the changes from and to SVN & TFS. Really this is overkilling and hour consuming task. They don't want to change the TFS ( Not event add ins ). So what i can use to merge the code between two source controllers. Is it i can use SVN-Bridge to Merge the code without changing or modifying the TFS Server. Please guide me on this. (Worst case they might go for add ins, for sure no other source controllers than Microsoft Product) hhhmmmmmm, i'm sitting in front of monitor and hitting the F5 on this page, Please save my hours.

• Searching for a Kohana Beginner's Tutorial for PHP

  I am going to try to build a PHP website using a framework for the first time, and after some research here and there, I've decided to try to use Kohana I downloaded the source from their website, and ran the downloaded stuff on my web server, and was then greeted with a 'Welcome to Kohana!' page, and nothing more... I've tried to find some beginner tutorials on the web as regard this particular framework, but to my surprise, came up with almost nothing (only this one, but it's not a great deal of help) I am not new to PHP and neither am I new to the MVC concept, but I am very new to PHP Frameworks...so can anyone point me to a Kohana tutorial somewhere on the web that will help me get started in building my website using this framework, from scratch ? P.S. As I said, I want a beginners tutorial as regarding this case. [UPDATE] I am currently reading the Official Guide...we'll see how that goes.

• Where can I find a description of the old British Standard structured flow charts?

  Some professional organisation defined these in, IIRC, the early 80s as similar to the more well known flow charts, but "structured". Instead of having arbitrary "goto" arrows, they had the equivalent of loops etc. They were standardized, and I vaguely remember studying them briefly at O Level. Of course they were about as useful as the well-known chocolate teapot, but I'd still like to be able to find a reference guide for them if possible - for roughly the same reason I was looking for a reference for standard Basic a while back. Google tells me - well, nothing really. They may as well never have existed. Which is probably nearly (and perhaps completely) true - I certainly never heard of them anywhere else except when I was at school. There's a chance that they may even be my computer science teachers little joke.

  Hi, I am new to iphone development. I want to display the actual size of the image in image view. I have created image view by using Interface builder and set the properties. Now the problem is, I have set into "Scale to Fill", then the image will be stretched in the full screen. Now i want to display the actual size of the image will be displayed in image view. For example 52X52 size image should be displayed with the same size in the image view.The 1200X1020 size image should be fit to the size of the image view .So according the size of the image it should fit to image view and i want the image smaller than image view should retain its original size(It should not stretch to fit the image view). Is it any possible solution to achieve it, please guide me. Thanks.

• Difference between implementing an interface and applying an attribute in C#

  This might be a stupid question but Ill ask anyway, I was reading "OOP Demystified: A Self-Teaching Guide by Jim Keogh and Mario Giannini" chapter 11 which covers interfaces. The examples in this book are C++. I noticed that C++ uses ISerializable to make a class serializable which you would implement where as in C# you just attribute the class with the [Serializable] attribute. What is the key difference here? Is it that with an interface you must provide the implementation where as if you attribute something the compiler will work out the implementation for you? I guess that with the [Serializable] attribute the .Net framework uses reflection to make the serialized object from the actual object. That said is it possible in that case to have an [Disposable] attribute or using my theory above the framework wont know how to actually dispose of an object hence you have to do it yourself? Would be grateful for a clarification. Thanks.

Is it default method are method created manually what will TaskOptions() method will return.
