  I am planning to get my website development outsourced to a third party developer. Need your help in deciding on how/ what technology to be used to make it very secure. Since I am not a techie I need the website developed in a way, so that it is easy for me to maintain it and modify content easily if required. • Zend Framework ErrorController not working on live site?

  My site is set up pretty much as per the Zend Quickstart guide. The default ErrorController works locally using MAMP. But now I've deployed it to my live site I get a blank page and a "500 Internal Server Error" according to FireBug when I go to an action that doesnt exist. On my local server I get a 404 and a nicely formatted error page. Any ideas anyone? I dont really know where to begin looking. I'm confused :/ Thanks.

• iPhone CALayer Stacking Order

  I'm using CALayers to draw to a UITableViewCell. I'm trying to figure out how layers are ordered with the content of the UITableViewCell. For instance: I add labels to the UITableViewCell in my cellForRow:atIndexPath method In the drawRect method of UITableViewCell I draw some content using the current context Also, in drawRect I add a few sublayers So what would be the order of these elements. I know I have zPosition on the CALayers but I'm not sure if they are always on top of any subviews of the UITableViewCell. And I'm not sure where the content that is drawn in drawRect comes in the order. Any help or links to documentation would be great. I have read through the Core Animation Programming Guide and didn't see anywhere where this would be answered.

  According to the guide, under the heading: Fixing errors in earlier revisions, it states this: When you find a bug in some earlier revision you have two options: either you can fix it in the current code, or you can go back in history and fix the code exactly where you did it, which creates a cleaner history. How does going back in history make it cleaner? It still makes a new changeset at tip. Does it have something to do with what is recorded as it's parent? Is there a way to view the logs seeing the newly inserted changeset in that order? This lesson is under the main heading of Lone developer with nonlinear history. Is this good practice when working on a team?

  I am not able to connect to an remote known server through Java code; the exception while connecting is java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host. But strangely, I am able to connect to same server through ssh. Details: Simple Java client when tries to establish connection with Java standalone server, while conneting the exception occurs at following statement: Socket socket = new Socket(ServerIP ServerPort); The port needed is open on server so that externally request can come in. Again the following is returns false InetAddress.getByName(SERVER_IP).isReachable(1000) The Server is running on Fedora, Java 5. FYI: Java cannot resolve DNS address from AIX: UnknownHostException is almost same to my question, but somehow this is not AIX related; moreover I feel the issue to be more of Network or firewall issue. Please guide me.

  I'm creating an Interface Builder plugin for an NSView subclass. I've been following the Interface Builder Plug-in Programming Guide but it's not answer all my questions. My class has one NSString property and 4 NSColor properties which I want to create bindings for at design time. I can't figure out where the bindings are specified in the plugin project. The documentation states that the Inspector Object is only for creating the Attribute Inspector. The class description file (.classdescription) lists outlets and actions but not bindings. Where do I specify the bindings for my class?

  Messing about a bit, i have a working Adobe After Effects plugin with a bit of Obj-c / Cocoa in it (NSArray and custom objects - not ui stuff). The SDK guide states:- Always use After Effects memory allocation functions. In low-memory conditions (such as during RAM preview), it’s very important that plug-ins not compete with After Effects for OS memory, and deal gracefully with out-of-memory conditions. Failing to use our functions can cause lock-ups, crashes, and tech support calls. Don’t do that. If you’re wrapping existing C++ code, overloading new and delete to use our functions will save substantial reimplementation. On Windows, derive all classes from a common base class which implements new and delete. so my question.. is something compatible with the above statement possible in Obj-c?

• Setting up a non-emacs Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development?

  I am trying to set up a Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit box and I can't find a single decent guide that is targeted at noobs. The closest I came is with Peter Seibel's Lisp in a box but I detest Emacs with a passion and it seems to have older versions of SBCL and CLISP (which are my preferred CL implementations). I do not want to use any of the commercial implementations. I am looking for a simple setup to write some very basic CRUD apps involving possibly hunchentoot, some framework like weblocks,CL-WHO, CL-SQl, sqlite or some datastores from the nosql family like mongo and couch.. Assuming, I go with either SBCL or CLISP on Linux, what is the best tool to manage packages and libraries? ASDF? I am looking for simplicity and consistency and I don't expect to use a ton of libs...

• Geocoding autocomplete bias not working

  I'm using the following code to get the autocomplete functionality for an address input box using Google Maps API v3: function initializeAutocomplete() { var defaultBounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds( new google.maps.LatLng(1.484016,103.575212), new google.maps.LatLng(1.233592,104.033618)); var input = document.getElementById('destStreet'); var myOptions = {bounds: defaultBounds, types: ['geocode']}; autocomplete = new google.maps.places.Autocomplete(input, myOptions); } The problem is that biasing doesn't seem to work as the first results are usually not relevant to the defined bounds (a country). I've seen a few apps working fine, so I'm wondering where the problem is. I came across the JQuery autocomplete plugin (http://code.google.com/p/geo-autocomplete/) which would seem like a good alternative since it has a region filter, but I'm unable to "install it" or use it because of my very limited knowledge (I learn by example). Could you please help me getting more relevant results with the above code or guide me through the implementation of the JQuery alternative? Of course I'm very open to other suggestions as well.

• Is there a FSRef in iPhone SDK or is there something that can be FSRef's alternative?

  The question may sound stupid, but the thing is this: I am learning how to use a Audio Queue, and the example I've taken (aqtest) has been a nice guide for me until I recently found out that aqtest is not for iPhone. (stupid me) I served around the Internet and found out that there is no FSRef for iPhone. If possible, I want to find a way to work around FSRef thinggie. So here comes the question: can I use something else instead of FSRef that exists on the iPhone SDK? Or am I missing something?

  Hi, guys I am new to Android development, just reading docs and trying the APIs. I am quit confused how ImageView managed to draw just a part of its content after an invalidate(Rect) invocation. I've checked ImageView.java, found no other drawing method except onDraw(Canvas), but onDraw(Canvas) only cut the drawable only if it is beyound the view's visible boundary. I also read the implementation of View.invalidate(Rect), I think the key of this function is calling to mParent.invalidateChild(this, r); However, I think the parent view doesn't know how to draw the child in the given Rect, it finally has to call some method of it child to paint out. Has anybody investigated this part of codes? Would you please give me some guide?

  How can I make simple format-type customizations to ALL OOTB workflow related emails? I have found that many pre-Sharepoint 2010 posts indicated that OOTB workflow emails are in fact 'alerts', and therefore OOTB workflow emails could be customized using the same technique which is: making a customized version of alerttemplates.xml and even using IAlertNotifyHandler to intercept all alert emails. However, it seems that OOTB workflow and workflow task emails are not affected by changes to my customalerttemplates.xml file (which I do follow with stsadm updatealerttemplates, iisreset, and timer service restart). • Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

  All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

  hello everyone, I downloaded cahoots from sourceforge.net. It is a zend framework application. Very nicely done and I must say that it should be a nice tutorial for everyone who is struggling to learn Zend framework. But my problem is that even after reading the instructions this application is still not running. The application just doesn't run at all giving an error message. I have tried my best. no success :( Also I wanted to execute the application as "http://localhost/cahoots" but it runs by this URL "http://localhost/cahoots/public". why is it so.? I am using XAMPP v 1.7.1 with mod-rewrite enabled. Please guide me through the process. Any good tutorials on zend framework with zend tool would be appreciable. I want to learn this framework.   What is the time limit for two taps to be considered a double-tap, on the iPhone OS? // Edit: Why is this important? In order to handle single-tap and double-tap differently, Apple's guide says to do performSelector...afterDelay with some 'reasonable' interval on first tap (and cancel it later if the second tap is detected). The problem is that if the interval is too short (0.1), the single tap action will be performed even when double-tapping (if relying only on tapCount, that is). If it's too long (0.8), the user will be waiting unnecessarily for the single-tap to be recognized, when there is no possibility for a double-tap. It has to be exactly the correct number, in order to work optimally, but definitely not smaller, or there's a chance for bugs (simultaneous single-tap and double-tap).

  I'm trying to build a simple Magento Module that needs to connect to the database at the start of each page request. All tables need to be accessible to it. I've been pulling my hair out trying to understand how to do it. The best I could figure out was that I need to set this in the config.xml file of my module, but exactly what that command is/how it may be used, i haven't been able to figure out. Can someone please guide me or show me how to accomplish this? If not, would it be too bad a practice to include a custom config.php file which connects to the database manually?

  Hi, I want using GPS data (I got it from $GPRMC) in an desktop application(that uses from mappoint 2009). I get the latitude & longitude, but when I check these points on map, I see the result is incorrect (for example My Data is: 43.412 N, 79.369 W ; but the correct point is: 43.686 N, 79.616 W ). I guess, I must use a correction method before use; I try "Projection method" like "Miller" or "Mercator", but those aren't effective. Can anyone guide me?

  I'm trying to work through this guide to Rails routing, but I got stuck in section 3.3: Creating a RESTful route will also make available a pile of helpers within your application and then they list some helpers like photos_url, photos_path, etc. My questions: Where can I find the complete list of helpers that is "made available?" Is there a way to call the helpers in the console? I created an app, then opened up the console with script/console.
