  • Be notified of method calls in .NET

    Basically, what I want to do is to be notified whenever a specific method has been called. I was hoping I could accomplish this using Reflection, but my attempts haven't gotten me anywhere yet, so I'm hoping that perhaps somebody else with the same need has accomplished this before and can enlighten me. I figured using MethodInfo was the way to go, but like I said, I found nothing there that could help me accomplish what I wanted to do. Any suggestions, hints or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Conversion of bytes into a type without changing the application (ie storing the conversion method i

    Is there a way to store a conversion strategy (for converting some bytes) into a database and then execute it on the run time. If one were to store a complete java file, you would need to compile it, store the class and some how inject into the already running system. I am not sure how this would be possible. But using some kind of dynamic language on JVM would be nice. I see an example of execution of groovy from within spring context here http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/42789 but this is still static in nature as application context contains the reference to the implementation and cannot be changed by database. Perhaps with JavaConfig of context it is possible. I am exploring options now, specifically with Spring 3.0. Your suggestions in any direction would be welcome.

And I'm trying to guess where this restriction came from and have no ideas.

    Using Java on a Windows 7 PC (not sure if that matters) and calling Math.cos() on values that should return 0 (like pi/2) instead returns small values, but small values that, unless I'm misunderstanding, are much greater than 1 ulp off from zero. Math.cos(Math.PI/2) = 6.123233995736766E-17 Math.ulp(Math.cos(Math.PI/2)) = 1.232595164407831E-32 Is this in fact within 1 ulp and I'm simply confused?     Hi, I need to bea be able to use a static variable set in a class that extends a base class... from the base class. Consider this: class Animal { public static $color = 'black'; public static function get_color() { return self::$color; } } class Dog { public static $color = 'brown'; } echo Animal::get_color(); // prints 'black' echo Dog::get_color(); // also prints 'black' This works wonderfully in PHP 5.3.x (Dog::get_color() prints 'brown') since it has late static binding. Something like: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { something(Linq.Products); } public void something(Object MyObject) { System.Data.Linq.Table<Product> Dynamic = (System.Data.Linq.Table<Product>)MyObject; var Edit = (from R in Dynamic where R.ID == RecordID select R).Single(); My problem is that I my "something" method will not be able to know what table has been sent to it. so the static line: System.Data.Linq.Table Dynamic = (System.Data.Linq.Table)MyObject; Would have to reflect somthing like: System.Data.Linq.Table Dynamic = (System.Data.Linq.Table)MyObject; With being a dynamic catch all variable so that Linq can just execute the code just like I hand coded it statically. I have been pulling my hair out with this one. Please help.
