    I would like to remote desktop/VPN from an Ubuntu 13.04 computer (a) to an Ubuntu 13.04 computer(b) so the user(s) on the second machine can see my movements. I would like something a lot like team-viewer or Join.me but these machines do not have Internet but that are attached on a local network and I can VPN to them but that can not see what I am doing and I need them to be able to see my movements.

  • Working in Germany (Munich) [closed]

    My husband and I are relocating to Munich in August (He's German). I have been looking for jobs online since I heard that software developers are in great demand. And by the looks of it, seems to be correct. There are lots of offers on line but I have a problem, my german is not spectacular. I would rate it as basic. Good to be a tourist but not good to write anything formal, not even my cover letter. So I was wondering how hard is really going to be to find a job for me with virtually no german (I'm studying, but good german is not going to happen over night). Also, would it be possible to secure a job before arriving to Germany? I have nearly 10 years of working experience developing software, mostly in .net (c#, vb, winForms, asp.net) but I also know java. 3 years experience as a team leader for groups of up to 8 people. In the last couple of years I've been working mostly on digitalization of documents (such as birth certificates and the like) but I'm more than willing to try other fields Also I speak English, Spanish, Italian, a bit of portuguese and of course a bit of german.

I was thinking to implement some kind of enumerated values like this private enum ExperienceValues { FriendlyMatch = 0.1, Training = 0.15, LeagueMatch = 0.6, CupMatch = 0.85, Qualification = 1.4 } And to calculate experience by the time user spend on the field 90min * 0.6 = 54 Is this approach ok ?   • Differences between a retail and wholesale website, and how difficult would it be to integrate them? [closed]

    I was told to come here for some guidance, I know that my questions can be quite broad, but I just really want some kind of direction to go towards (links, articles, etc). So here it goes: For the past month I have been planning and started implementing a wholesale website, but plans got changed on me and I need to allow both retail and wholesale orders which will also depend on whether the account is a regular customer or also has a seller account. There are various types of products and it has been decided that I would use subcategories as tables to organize them and allow various specific item fields. So here are some of my specific questions: How different is the database structure for each item to be available for both wholesale and retail? Will it just be adding a quantity column and have two different pricing, or much more complicated? I am unaware if there's any price tables but would that be more difficult? They use Quickbooks POS software, how difficult/inefficient will it be to update inventory quantities if they have like 2000-4000 products? And what would be the best ways to extract the information and update the system? I know it export an excel spreadsheet so maybe a suggested php plugin for it? How difficult is this project in your professional opinion, and how big should a team usually be? (At the moment it is just me.) Projected time for planning, implementation, and quality assurance in accordance to team size? I am an entry level developer and I know that I do not have enough knowledge to direct myself on this website...What kind of web developer skills will I need to find to help me? (My company is willing to hire people to get this website done as fast as possible.) Also, what would be some great questionnaires to ask the product stakeholder about what he wants from the website? (He has made it clear he is neither computer or internet savvy...) Sorry for the amount of questions, I'm an entry level web developer and do not have a senior to look up to for guidance. I have knowledge in HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, phpMyAdmin. I have never used any frameworks like Zend, Magento, etc, and is doing this all from scratch. So far the website is built in an object oriented way, MVC architecture to the best of my abilities, but I have many doubts because I would really want to have this done right.   • Can't Access TFS 2010 Beta 2 from Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 when domain joined

    I'm experimenting with an installation of TFS 2010 Beta 2 on a virtual machine under VirtualBox running Windows Server 2008. When I've got the server in a workgroup, I can connect to it from Visual Studio just fine, as long as I provide credentials for a local user on the server machine when prompted by the "Connect to Team Foundation Server" dialog. The desktop I'm running Visual Studio on is joined to a domain. However, when I join the server to the domain, I can no longer connect to it from Visual Studio. I get a pretty generic error message: "TF31002 - Unable to connect to team foundation server". It gives me several different possible problems, including an incorrect address or an incorrect username and password. I've already added the domain Windows identity with which I'm logged on the the desktop to the TFS Admins group on the server, so I don't think it's a username/password problem. I've also tried putting the literal IP address of the server in the dialog address box instead of the machine name, but still no dice. I made sure that network discovery was enabled on the server, too, and can navigate to "\\webserver2008" in Windows Explorer without any problems. Shouldn't be a firewall problem, since the TFS install creates the appropriate exceptions in Windows Firewall. It's all a bit confusing, since it seems to work when the server is in a workgroup. Note: I'm a dev, not an admin, so there are many subtleties of server administration with which I'm not familiar. Please make no assumptions about what I may or may not have tried; what may be obvious to you may have never occurred to me. Thanks in advance!
