• Unable to connect with IIS7 Manager to remote site

  I was unable to connect with IIS7 manager to a remote site. I got on the phone with the hosting provider and they started troubleshooting. After a few minutes they went over all my settings, username, password...the whole shebang and I still couldn't. I then asked the support tech if any ports needed to be opened on my side and she said "ONLY PORT 80 NEEDS TO BE OPENED"... after a few more mins I decided to hop over to the IIS7 website but still couldn't find anything incicating specific ports, but I did came across a doc mentioning 8172 as a port IIS7 uses so I went to my firewall did the following OPEN PORT 8172 OUTBOUND That did the trick!...and the support tech updated her document accordingly.

• How do I configure multiple domain names on my IIS server? [closed]

  We have a few websites that we are running on one instance of IIS that need to be mapped for each of their domain names. For example. Site A has the domain name coolness.com Site B has the domain name 6to8Weeks.com Site C has the domain name PhatTech.com When I look at the "Web Site Identification" section of the IIS configuration window, I notice that I can specify an IP address and port, but if I click the Advanced button, I can also configure the site based on host header values as well. How do I configure each site in IIS? Ideally I would like them to all be able to listen to port 80, so I don't have weird URLs, but I'm not sure if I do this using headers, IP addresses, both, or something else.

  Hi I want to release my XNA game to the XBOX platform, but I'm worried about the networking limitations. Basically, I want to have a dedicated (authoritative) server, but it sounds like that is not possible. Which is why I'm wondering about: Using port 80 web calls to php-driven database Using an xbox as a master-server (is that possible?) I like the sound of #1, because I could write my own application to run on the xbox, and I would assume other users could connect to it similar to the p2p architecture.   Or yet another Twitter grid Yesterday, while I was playing around with this example of our MVC Grid, I thought that the RadGrid for ASP.NET AJAX deserves one too. • upower wants to uninstall lots of packages

  I'm running Natty and have a problem with upower. Currently installed is upower 0.9.5-4 (Maverick?), with upower 0.9.9-4 available. Update Manager won't upgrade it, but if I go to Synaptic and use Ctrl+E (force version) it prompts to remove all of the following packages: gdm gdm-guest-session gnome-power-manager gnome-session gnome-session-bin indicator-session nautilus-share ubuntu-desktop This seems like a fair chunk of the GUI, so I'm not keen to let it go ahead. Is there a better/safer way to force the package upgrade? NOTE: This machine was upgraded from Maverick to Natty using the Alternate CD a while ago. It locked-up about 80-90% through the upgrade requiring the machine to be hard reset, but it finished the upgrade process after rebooting. I was making sure everything was OK before going to Oneiric when I discovered this little gem.
