• In a SQL XDL File, how do I read the waitresource attribute on process nodes which are deadlocking?

  On SQL Server 2005, I'm getting a deadlock when updating two different keys in the same table. note from below that these two waitresources have the same beginning part, but different ending parts. waitresource="KEY: 6:72057594090487808 (d900ed5a6cc6)" and waitresource="KEY: 6:72057594090487808 (d900fb5261bb)" These two keys are locking, and I need to figure out why.   I've subclassed MKAnnotation so that i can assign objects to annotations and then assign this object to a view controller like so: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)view calloutAccessoryControlTapped:(UIControl *)control { PlaceDetailView *detailView = [[PlaceDetailView alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; detailView.place = [view.annotation place]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailView animated:YES]; [detailView release]; } This is working great but i'm having the following issues: If i try and access the place getter method like so view.annotation.place i recieve an error: Accessing unknown place getter method If i acces the place getter method like so [view.annotation place] i receive a warning: place not found in protocol From my understanding this is because the place object is not defined in the MKAnnotation protocol, although i'm aware of this i'm not sure how to tell the complier that place does exist and it's not calling it blind.

• [C++] Boost test: catch user defined exceptions

  If I have user defined exceptions in my code, I can't get Boost test to consider them as failures. For example, BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_EXPECTED_FAILURES(MyTest,1) BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(MyTest) { // code which throws user defined exception, not derived from std::exception. } I get a generic message: Caught exception: .... unknown location(0):.... It does not recognize this error as a failure since it is not a std::exception. So it does not honor the expected_failures clause. How do I enforce that the piece of code should always throw an exception? THis seems to be a useful thing to want. In case future code changes cause the code to pass and the exception is not thrown, I want to know that.

I'm using os.kill to do this: os.killpg(selenium_server_process.pid, signal.SIGTERM) selenium_server_process.wait() This does not work. The reason is that the shell subprocess spawns another processfor the java program, and the pid of that process is unknown to my python code. I've tried killing the process group with os.killpg, but that kills also the python process which runs this code in the first place. Setting shell to false, thus avoiding the java program to run inside a shell environment, is also out of the question, due to other reasons. Does anyone have an idea how I can kill the shell and any other processes generated by it? Cheers, Ulas

  Suppose I'm trying to run a script of unknown origin, and one of the functions is from a package that is not loaded by the script (an oversight, maybe it was loaded in the .Rprofile of the person who wrote it). How can I find in which package this function resides? There's some information compiled on CRAN, that doesn't require the user to download/install all R packages locally; however as far as I could tell it only gives access to the DESCRIPTION files. RSiteSearch, and its web equivalent, seem to access an online database of all CRAN packages, where presumably a list of all functions would be available. Is there some way of accessing this information? Thanks. Edit: I know sos::findFn, utils::RSiteSearch and search.r-project; what I would like is to get the raw data that these tools use.

  I have a notification list that the user can select different show options for different kinds of notifications along with how many results are returned. I'm keeping them in the user model because I want the custom sort to stay with the user between sessions. Here is the association in my user model: has_many :notifications, :class_name => "Notification", :foreign_key => "user_id", :conditions => ["won = ? and lost = ? and paid = ?", self.prefs_won, self.prefs_lost, self.prefs_paid], :limit => self.prefs_results.to_s But when I use the above code, Rails throws me an "unknown method" error for self.prefs_won. It is definitely a field in my database and set as a boolean value, but Rails can't find it... what's the problem?

  I want to create a text field in the database, with no specific size (it will store text of length unknown in some case) - the particular text are serialized simple object (~ JSON) What is the most database independent way to do this : - a varchar with no size specified (don't think all db support this) - a 'text' field, this seems to be common, but I don't believe it's a standard - a blob or other object of that kind ? - a varchar of a a very large size (that's inefficient and wastes disk space probably) - Other ?   I've got an html template like this: <div class="cont"> <div class="..."> <p>...<p> <img alt="" class="popup" src="DESIRED IMAGE LINK" style="..." /></p><p>...</p> .... And i want to extract "DESIRED IMAGE LINK" inside the "" tag, currently i'm using this: $pattern = '<div class="cont">.*?src=["\']?([^"\']?.*?(png|jpg|jpeg|gif))["\']?/i'; if (preg_match($pattern, $content, $image)) ..... But it doesn't work, the error is: warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Unknown modifier '.' How can i fix it? Thanks

• How to remove this bottom bar in UITabBar?

  I am trying to do some customization on UITabBar. I am almost done with everything. However, I saw a small bar on the bottom of each UITabBarItem. I don't know what object it is. Can someone please tell me how to remove it? Or if someone can tell me how to make the UIImage inside the UITabBarItem to be displayed in front of that unknown bar. It is good enough. Cannot post image due to insufficient reputation.

So functions containing macros have their information printed multiple times (which is of course undesired). Is there anything to detect that a macro is being processed? Or is is possible to turn off instrumenting macros at all? PS Same problems occur with sizeof()

• About the leading newline in Visual Studio solution files.

  Sometimes, for unknown reasons, VS 2008 creates solution files led by a newline. Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 10.00 # Visual Studio 2008 [...] This happened on various machines, and I have no idea why this is. A Google search did not yield any useful results. Now, why do I worry about this? Because I can't open these solutions in Windows Explorer. I have to open VS, select File - Open - Solution and it works fine. But to open solutions from within Explorer, I have to edit the sln file and remove the leading newline. Edit: After Leom's suggestion I tested a few times and found that the issue is solely dependent on the leading newline.

• Using sed with html data

  I'm having some problems using sed in combination with html. The following sample illustrates the problem: HTML="<html><body>ENTRY</body><html>" TABLE="<table></table>" echo $HTML | sed -e s/ENTRY/$TABLE/ This outputs: sed: -e expression #1, char 18: unknown option to `s' If I leave out the / from $TABLE so that it becomes <table><table> it works ok. Any ideas on how to fix it?

  I have this query which displays some properties and count the number of references to it from an other table: SELECT p.id,p.propName ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM propLoc WHERE propLoc.propID = p.id ) AS number FROM property as p WHERE p.category != 'natural' This generates a good table with all the information I want to filter: id | propName | number 3 | Name 1 | 3 4 | Name 2 | 1 5 | Name 3 | 0 6 | Name 4 | 10 etc etc I now want to filter out the properties with number <= 0 So I tried to add an AND number > 0 But it reacts with Unknown column 'number' in 'where clause' apparently you can't filter on a name specified by a subquery? How can I achieve my goal?

• App shuts down when pushing UIbutton!

  For reasons unknown my app shuts down upon pressing a UIButton in the simulator. I have dynamically added my UIView, if that is of relevance. No tracelog or debug information just a rush exit... This is the simple code (.m-file): - (IBAction) testButtonPressed: (id) sender{ NSLog (@"Testbutton pressed."); } From the header file: - (IBAction) testButtonPressed: (id) sender; Pretty basic stuff, but for some reason the app terminates. Help!
