  • autoscrolling for UIScrollView

    - by thndrkiss
    Hi, I used the setContentOffset method to scroll to a particular point automatically without user interaction. [menuScrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(600.0,0) animated:YES] but when i try to call the same method in a looping fashion inorder to slow down the speed of scrolling the scrolling never happens for (int i = 1; i<=30; i++) { [menuScrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(600.0-i*10,0.0) animated:YES]; NSLog(@"%f",600.0-i*10); } During the above piece of code the scrolling of UIScrollview happens only once (1st iteration( and it does not scroll for remaining 29 interations. What is the problem here ?

  • Center content of UISCrollView when smaller

    - by hgpc
    I have an UIImageView inside a UIScrollView which I use for zooming and scrolling. If the image/content of the scroll view if bigger than the scroll view everything works fine. However, when the image becomes smaller than the scroll view, it sticks to the top left corner of the scroll view. I would like to keep it centered, like the Photos app. Any ideas or examples about keeping the content of the UIScrollView centered when smaller? I am working with iPhone 3.0. The following code almost works. The image returns to the top left corner if I pinch it after reaching the minimum zoom level. - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; // set up main scroll view imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; [imageScrollView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [imageScrollView setDelegate:self]; [imageScrollView setBouncesZoom:YES]; [[self view] addSubview:imageScrollView]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"WeCanDoIt.png"]]; [imageView setTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; [imageScrollView setContentSize:[imageView frame].size]; [imageScrollView addSubview:imageView]; CGSize imageSize = imageView.image.size; [imageView release]; CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGFloat widthRatio = maxSize.width / imageSize.width; CGFloat heightRatio = maxSize.height / imageSize.height; CGFloat initialZoom = (widthRatio heightRatio) ? heightRatio : widthRatio; [imageScrollView setMinimumZoomScale:initialZoom]; [imageScrollView setZoomScale:1]; float topInset = (maxSize.height - imageSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - imageSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return [imageScrollView viewWithTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; } /************************************** NOTE **************************************/ /* The following delegate method works around a known bug in zoomToRect:animated: */ /* In the next release after 3.0 this workaround will no longer be necessary */ /**********************************************************************************/ - (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)scrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale:(float)scale { [scrollView setZoomScale:scale+0.01 animated:NO]; [scrollView setZoomScale:scale animated:NO]; // END Bug workaround CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGSize viewSize = view.frame.size; float topInset = (maxSize.height - viewSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - viewSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; }

  • networkActivityIndicatorVisible on iOS 4

    - by user365660
    Hi, I just downloaded xcode 3.2.3 (seperate directory installation) and ios 4 to my iphone. I'm having a problem with networkActivityIndicatorVisible. This works on 3.1.3, both phone and simulator. My code is (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; UIApplication* app2 = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; app2.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; [self loadSources]; // Loads data in table view app2.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; } I get the same effect in the simulator and on the phone both with ios 4.o The networkActivity indicator becomes visible for a fraction of a second and then invisible and this is done after loading the data for the tableView. Has something changed with this? Teo

  • How do I replace a modal view controller?

    - by Theory
    I'm using a modal view controller to allow a user to select an address book entry and email address. The ABPeoplePickerNavigationController object is displayed via presentModalViewController:animated: [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; What I want to do is keep the modal dialog up, but when the user selects the email address, it should cross-fade to a different controller that displays a message composition window. I've tried various approaches in peoplePickerNavigationController:shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:property:identifier: to dismiss the picker and set my custom composition controller as the modal view. I can do it any number of ways, but never does it fade smoothly from the picker to the composition controller -- unless I make the composition controller a modal dialog of the picker, in which case the picker re-appears when I dismiss the composition controller. I don't want that, either. There must be some way to smoothly replace one controller and its view with another controller and its view, all within the context of a modal dialog, and preferably with a cross fade. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • Animating a CALayer's mask size change

    - by Alexander Repty
    I have a UIView subclass which uses a CAShapeLayer mask on its CALayer. The mask uses a distinct shape, with three rounded corners and a cut out rectangle in the remaining corner. When I resize my UIView using a standard animation block, the UIView itself and its CALayer resize just fine. The mask, however, is applied instantly, which leads to some drawing issues. I've tried animating the mask's resizing using a CABasicAnimation but didn't have any luck getting the resizing animated. Can I somehow achieve an animated resizing effect on the mask? Do I need to get rid of the mask, or will I have to change something about the way I currently draw the mask (using - (void)drawInContext:(CGContextRef)ctx). Cheers, Alex

  • UITableView having one Cell with multiple UITextFields (some of them in one row) scrolling crazy

    - by Allisone
    I have a UITableView (grouped). In that tableview I have several UITableViewCells, some custom with nib, some default. One Cell (custom) with nib has several UITextfields for address information, thus also one row has zip-code and city in one row. When I get the keyboard the tableview size seems to be adjusted automatically (vs. another viewController in the app with just a scrollview where I had to code this functionality on my own) so that i can scroll to the bottom of my tableview (and see it) even though the keyboard is up. That's good. BUT when I click on a textfield the tableview gets either scrolled up, or down, I can't figure out the logic. It seems to be rather random up/down scrolling / contentOffset setting. So I have bound the Editing Did Begin events of the textfields to a function that has this code. - (IBAction)textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField *)textField { CGPoint pt; CGRect rc = [textField bounds]; rc = [textField convertRect:rc toView:self.tableView]; pt = rc.origin; pt.x = 0; [self.tableView setContentOffset:pt animated:YES]; ... } This, well, it seems to work most of the time, BUT it doesn't work if I click the first textfield (the view jumps so that the second row gets to the top and the first row is out of the current visible view frame) AND it also doesn't work if I first select the zip textfield and next the city textfield (both in one row) or vice versa. If I do so, the tableview seems to jump to the (grouped tableview) top of my viewForHeaderInSection(this section with this mentioned cell with all my textfields) What is is going on ? Why is this happening ? How to fix this ? Edit This on the other hand behaves as expected (for the two Textviews wit same origin.y) if (self.tableView.contentOffset.y == pt.y) { pt.y = pt.y + 1; [self.tableView setContentOffset:pt animated:YES]; }else { [self.tableView setContentOffset:pt animated:YES]; } But this is a stupid solution. I wouldn't like to keep it that way. And this also doesn't fix the wrong jumping, when clicking the first textfield at first.

  • Pushing a ABUnknownPersonViewController onto a navigation controller results in having no Navigation

    - by dermdaly
    Hi There, I'm working with the Address Book UI API on iPhone SDK 3.0. I want to present to the user the ability to create a new user, or add to an existing one, so I am using the ABUnknownPersonViewController. I have an existing navigation stack (with only 2 other views on it). Trouble is when I push the ABUnknownPersonViewController onto it, it shows up animated, etc. But there is no navigation bar, so no way to cancel. My code snippet is as follows newPersonViewController = [[ABUnknownPersonViewController alloc] init]; newPersonViewController.unknownPersonViewDelegate = self; newPersonViewController.displayedPerson = person; newPersonViewController.allowsAddingToAddressBook = YES; newPersonViewController.allowsActions = NO; [[self navigationController] pushViewController:newPersonViewController animated:YES]; Note: the current view controller does have a title, so that's not the issue. Any ideas what I am missing?

  • UIPickerView selectedRowInComponent: returns stale data after code adjusts it

    - by Eric Lloyd
    I have a UIPickerView with multiple components. Some values are grayed out, and my pickerView:didSelectRow:inComponent honors this by shifting the picker component in question to the nearest valid value, much as UIDatePicker moves from "30" to "28" when you select "February". Then it calls a delegate method to announce the adjusted value. When my adjuster method calls my UIPickerView's selectRow:inComponent:animated:YES, the value on screen is correct, but the values from selectedRowInComponent: are stale (from before the adjustment for gray values). However, if I call selectRow:inComponent:animated:NO, the returned values are correct, but the lack of animation is jarring. I've tried wrapping the adjustment in a beginAnimations:/commitAnimations block and catching the values in UIView's +animationDidStopSelector, but I still get stale values. Has anyone run into this before?

  • iPhone UIScrollView - How to animate scrolling with steady contents?

    - by timbos
    Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to prevent the contents of a uiscrollview from moving unsteadily when scrolling manually by setting the content offset. When scrolling by touch the text remains clear and steady. I would like to recreate this by animating with the animated option set to false. I'm using a timer to scroll at a given interval. The text is being drawn to a view in the contents, but it vibrates and it becomes more difficult to read clearly when animating at a greater speed. The speed varies and the scrolling must respond to changes in speed quickly. Here's some code - - (void) scrollIncrAmt:(float) amt { _currentSpeedIncr = amt; NSArray* arr = [SharedTickerInfo sharedTickerInfo].sDataArray; DataObj* tdObj = [arr objectAtIndex:_row]; if ( ![tdObj isDirLeft] ) { amt = -amt; } float scrollTo = self.scrollView.contentOffset.x + amt; [scrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(scrollTo, 0.0f) animated:NO]; }

  • Issit possible to load a UIVIewcontroller from uiview of another UIViewController

    - by chako89
    Guys, need your advise here. I have: an UIViewController A UIView B: I added subview which is a UIView to the UIViewController A an UIViewController C What I did is: in UIViewController A's viewDidLoad's method, I call this: UIView *subviewB = [[Subview alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 1024, 768)]; [subviewB subviewBMethod]; // [self.view addSubview:rsubviewB]; SubviewBMethod code is to create an view, inside this view have a button. Once this button is clicked, it will change to UIViewController C. I tried this: [self presentModalViewController:self.UIViewControllerC animated:YES]; And I got this error message: warning: incompatible Objective-C types 'struct UIViewControllerC *', expected 'struct UIViewController *' when passing argument 1 of 'presentModalViewController:animated:' from distinct Objective-C type When I run the app, it terminates immediately when I click the button, I opened the console bug, there is no any error message. My method must be wrong, thus my question is: Issit possible to load a UIVIewcontroller from uiview of another UIViewController? If: Yes: How to do it? No: What should I do? THank you =)

  • Drawing selected state on custom UITableViewCell

    - by Brian
    So I have a customer UITableViewCell whose whole display in drawn in drawRect. When it draws it creates CGLayers so that it can reuse certain pieces when something is changed. I have changed my UITableViewCellSelectionStyle to None because I don't want the default selected view to cover my drawing. So I call setNeedsDisplay in setSelected:animated: for my cell. But by the time drawRect is called, setSelected:animated: has already been called again to deselect the cell. In my table view controller in didSelectRowAtIndexPath I call deselectRowAtIndexPath as Apple advises. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Push/Present Modal View Controller

    - by Yakattak
    I have a table in my view controller (let's call it TVC1). I have rows in TVC1 that are used so the user can input some more data in addition to the data on TVC1. So, when someone taps a specific row in TVC1, it will show another view controller (let's call it TVC2). However, when TVC2 is shown, all of the data in TVC1 is cleared. How can I save the data in TVC1? Should I do it through the app delegate? DescriptionInputViewController *descriptionController = [[DescriptionInputViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DescriptionInputView" bundle:nil]; [self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:descriptionController animated:YES]; [descriptionController release];

  • How to push UIViewController into UINavigationController from seperate UIView of different UIViewCon

    - by Kundan
    I have a UIViewController(AbcViewController) with NavigationController.AbcViewController uses UIView(AbcView) as its view. AbcView has a UITableView. I have set This TableView's datasource in AbcViewController and delegate in its SuperView i.e. AbcView. How will I push another UIViewController(XyzViewcontroller) into navigationController when I select a row in this table because it gives "error: request for member 'navigationController' in something not a structure or union" when I do this : [self.navigationController pushViewController:xyzViewcontroller animated:TRUE]; I also did this : AbcViewController *parentVC; [parentVC.navigationController pushViewController:xyzViewcontroller animated:TRUE]; Though it builds successfully but XyzViewcontroller's view does not appear. It does not push XyzViewcontroller's view into navigationController. Thanks For Any Help.

  • iPhone app with tab bar and navigation bar as peers

    - by Mac
    I'm trying to write an application that uses a navigation bar and tab bar in what (I'm gathering) is an unusual manner. Basically, I've got several "pages" ("home", "settings", etc) that each have their own tab. I'd also like to have it so that the "home" page is the root view of the navigation bar, and the other pages are the second-level views of the navigation bar. That is, I should be able to navigate to any page by clicking the appropriate tab bar item, and should be able to navigate to the home page from any other page by clicking the navigation bar's back button. Currently, I have a UINavigationBar (through a UINavigationController) and a UITabBar (through a UITabController) as children of a UIView. The various pages' view controllers are set as the tab controller's viewControllers property, and the home page's controller is also set as the navigation controller's root view. Each page view's tag is set to its index in the tab control. I have the following logic in the tab controller's didSelectViewController delegate method: - (void) tabBarController:(UITabBarController*) tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController*) viewController { if ([navController.viewControllers count] > 1) [navController popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [navController pushViewController:viewController animated:YES]; } Also, in the navigation controller's didShowViewController delegate method, I have the following code: - (void) navigationController:(UINavigationController *) navigationController didShowViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController animated:(BOOL)animated { tabController.selectedIndex = viewController.view.tag; } The problem that's occurring is that when I run this, the navigation bar, tab bar and home page all display ok, but the tab bar will not respond to input - I cannot select a different tab. I gather it's more usual to have the tab bar as the child of the navigation control, or vice versa. This doesn't seem to fit my approach, because I don't want to have to individually create the subordinate control each time a change occurs in the parent control - eg: recreate tab bar each time the navigation bar changes. Does anyone have suggestions as to what's wrong and how to fix it? I'm probably missing something obvious, but whatever it is I can't seem to find it. Thanks! EDIT: I'm guessing it has something to do with both controller's trying to have ownership of the page controller, but I can't for the life of me figure out a way around it.

  • Is it possible to hide the tabbar when a button is pressed to allow a full screen view of the conten

    - by Jonah
    I have a UITabBar in the detail view of my navigation based application. I am storing text and images in a tableview and would like the user to be able to tap on a cell to hide the navigation controller and the tabbar for full screen viewing of the content. I found this code for hiding the top bars, but it does not seem as easy to hide the tabbar. [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; [self.navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; Does anyone know how to do this? This code does not work to hide the tabBar once the view is already loaded. yourTabViewController.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = YES;

  • iPhone app memory leak

    - by Marian Busoi
    Any idea why this code gives me a memory leak? As you can see, I'm running out of ideas as to what I can do to stop it. (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; NSArray *allSketches = [project.sketches allObjects]; NSMutableArray *temp = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:allSketches]; if(sketchesArray != nil) [sketchesArray release]; [self setSketchesArray:temp]; [allSketches release]; allSketches = nil; [temp release]; temp = nil; } I also release sketchesArray inside viewDidDissapear. I'm not using viewDidLoad and dealloc to init/release these objects as what I am doing requires me to use viewWillAppear and viewDidDissapear. Thanks

  • How should I load a xib into a detail view for a split view iPad objective app?

    - by editor
    I've got a split view iPad app with table view in the master pane. After drilling down several levels, each time loading a new .xib, I'd like one of the cells to trigger a web page load in the detail pane. Right now I can only get the web page .xib to load in the master pane side -- which is a master pain in my side. The basic load call where "URLWindow" is a class loaded with initWithNibName: [[self navigationController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; I want to do this, but it doesn't seem to work: @interface @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet DetailViewController *detailViewController; ... @implementation [[self detailViewController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; How should I be loading the URLWindow .xib into a detail view for a split view detail pane?

  • Interchanging presentModalViewController and pushViewController

    - by Neffster
    I am using a sample ViewController that is displayed in the sample program as a presentModalViewController. However, I want to use pushViewController on the UIViewController instead. The problem is that when I switch to pushViewController, the ViewController no displays properly. Functions in the ViewController are called, but I don't see anything. I change back to presentModalViewController and everything works. The question is what do I need to do to make pushViewController work? FCVC *fcVC; NSArray *array = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"fcVC" owner:self options:nil]; fcVC = [array objectAtIndex:0]; A. [self presentModalViewController:fcVC animated:YES]; // "WORKS" or B. [self.navigationController pushViewController:fcVC animated:YES]; // "Doesn't work

  • UIScrollView works as expected but scrollRectToVisible: does nothing

    - by mahboudz
    HI. I have used UIScrollView before, and am using it now, and never had a problem. I'm now adding it to an old app, and while it works as expected (I can look at the contents, scroll around with my finger, all the bounds and sizes are setup right so there is no empty space in the content, etc.), I just can't get scrollToRectVisible to work. I have even simplified the call so that it merely moves to the 0,0 position: [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:CGRectMake(0, 0, 10, 10) animated:YES]; or move it to 0,200: [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:CGRectMake(0, 200, 10, 10) animated:YES]; I even made a quick app to test this and I can get scrollRectToVisible to work there as I expect. But in my old app, I can't seem to make it do anything. I can make the scrollView scroll with setContentOffset:, but that's not what I want. This scrollView and its contents are defined in the nib by IB and used with an IBOutlet. The only code I am using in my app to handle the scrollView is [scrollView setContentSize:CGSizeMake(scrollView.contentSize.width, imageView.frame.size.height)]; (I'm only interested in vertical scrolling not horizontal). Has anyone run into a problem like this? I have compared the scrollView attributes in both apps and they are identical. ADDENDUM: My scrollViews frame is: 0.000000 0.000000 480.000000 179.000000 My scrollViews contentSize is: 0.000000 324.000000 It still acts like the rect I want to scroll to is already visible and no scrolling is needed. Not sure if that is what is happening. This is just the darnest thing. Seems like such an easy thing to resolve... ADDENDUM #2: This is how I am making do without scrollRectToVisible: CGPoint point = myRect.origin; if (![clefScrollView pointInside:point withEvent:nil]) { point.x = 0; if (point.y > clefScrollView.contentSize.height - clefScrollView.bounds.size.height) point.y = clefScrollView.contentSize.height - clefScrollView.bounds.size.height; [clefScrollView setContentOffset:point animated: YES]; } Everything else about this scrollView works as expected, but scrollRectToVisible. WHY?!? Any wild guesses?

  • Hiding iPhone Status Bar pulls my tableViews up by 20px

    - by JustinXXVII
    When doing an asynchronous HTTP request, I hide the iPhone status bar and animate in my own custom UIViewController to show upload status. So instead of seeing signal strength, carrier, time and battery life, the user gets messages based on the progress of the HTTP request. My status bar is exactly 20px high, and fits nicely where the status bar used to be. When the HTTP activity is done, the custom view animates out and the iPhone status bar animates back in. I would like to just avoid hiding the iPhone status bar completely, and instead bring my custom view ON TOP of the status bar. Currently, if I invoke my custom view animation and keep the iPhone status bar set to visible, my custom view is behind it. This is the code I have: -(void) animateStatusBarIn { CGRect statusFrame = CGRectMake(0.0f, -20.0f, 320.0f, 20.0f); UploadStatusBar *statusView = [[UploadStatusBar alloc] initWithNibName:@"UploadStatusBar" bundle:nil]; self.status = statusView; [statusView release]; status.view.frame = statusFrame; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; [window addSubview:status.view]; [UIView beginAnimations:@"slideDown" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(animationFinished:)]; status.view.frame = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 20.0f); [UIView commitAnimations]; } -(void) animateStatusBarOut { [UIView beginAnimations:@"slideUp" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(animationFinished:)]; status.view.frame = CGRectMake(0.0f, -20.0f, 320.0f, 20.0f); [UIView commitAnimations]; } -(void)animationFinished:(NSString *)name { if ([name isEqualToString:@"slideDown"]) { } if ([name isEqualToString:@"slideUp"]) { [[UIApplication sharedApplication]setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; [status.view removeFromSuperview]; } } Without the [[UIApplication sharedApplication]setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES] you can't see my custom view. How can I get my custom view to just appear on top of the status bar so I don't have to hide it? Thank you!

  • UIImagepickerController strange bug

    Hi, I'm doing something with UIImagePickerController. It works fine and the Picture browser does open, however, I get this message. "Failed to save the videos metadata to the filesystem. Maybe the information did not conform to a plist." What could be causing that? That is caused by this line [self presentModalViewController:self.imgPicker animated:YES]; which is activated on a button click Snippets of the code that I have below. - (void)viewDidLoad { self.imgPicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; self.imgPicker.allowsImageEditing = YES; self.imgPicker.delegate = self; } - (IBAction)grabImage { [self presentModalViewController:self.imgPicker animated:YES]; } it's also removing images from documents directory and from resources folder. • jQuery / Spry Validation / Problem

    - by samuel baldus
    Hi Chaps, I have a PHP form with one input and a button. A jQuery script ('loading' animated gif) is triggered on the click of the submit button. I also have a Spry Validation field linked to the input. At the moment, if the validation is triggered, the animated gif continues and won't stop. The furthest I've managed to get with it, is to click the validation message to stop the animation, but what I'm really after is to stop the animation when the validation is visible/triggered, but I can't find a suitable Event. $(function() { $("#button_download") .click(function() { }) .throbber(); $("#sprytextfield1") .click(function(sprytextfield1) { $.throbberHide(); }) }); If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be sweet.
