  • Text not showing up in custom pushpins? Is there a way?

    This is the code I am using to plot my custom pushpins on Bing Maps. I can't get the text to print on the pushpin icon which is just the default pushpin but in a different color. Is it even possible like this? Is there another way?   • Google maps API - info window height and panning

    I'm using the Google maps API (v2) to display a country overlay over a world map. The data comes from a KML file, which contains coords for the polygons along with a HTML description for each country. This description is displayed in the 'info window' speech bubble when that country is clicked on. I had some trouble initially as the info windows were not expanding to the size of the HTML content they contained, so the longer ones would spill over the edges (this seems to be a common problem). I was able to work around this by resetting the info window to a specific height as follows: GEvent.addListener(map, "infowindowopen", function(iw) { iw = map.getInfoWindow(); iw.reset(iw.getPoint(), iw.getTabs(), new GSize(300, 295), null, null); }); Not ideal, but it works. However now, when the info windows are opened the top part of them is sometimes obscured by the edges of the map, as the map does not pan to a position where all of the content can be viewed. So my questions: Is there any way to get the info windows to automatically use a height appropriate to their content, to avoid having to fix to a set pixel height? If fixing the height is the only option, is there any way to get the map to pan to a more appropriate position when the info windows open? I know that the map class has a panTo() method, but I can't see a way to calculate what the correct coords would be.     Hi, I'm writing up an iPhone app using the Google Maps API V3, and I was wondering if it is still possible the use the stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString function in the (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView function? A simple example being changing the map type (Assuming basic map setup): - (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView{ [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"map.setMapTypeId(google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE);"];} This was very possible the the 2.0 API, but I can't seem to get it right in the 3.0 API.     I'm working on Rails 3.0.0.beta2, following Advanced Rails Recipes "Recipe #32, Mark locations on a Google Map" and I hit a road block: I do not see a google map. My @adds view uses @adds.to_json to connect the google maps api with my model. My database contains "latitude" "longitude", as floating points. And the entire project can be accessed at github. Can you see where I'm not connecting the to_json output with the javascript correctly? Can you see other glairing errors in my javascript? Thanks in advance!   • Flash Yahoo Maps has stopped working?

    In the past week it appears that Yahoo has changed their crossdomain file to only accept Yahoo domains (http://maps.yahooapis.com/crossdomain.xml): This is causing my applications that use Yahoo Maps to stop working (i.e. security exception). I cannot proxy the calls to Yahoo because the URL is embedded in the MXP file that Yahoo distributes. Does anyone know if there's a workaround or update to this?

    Hello, I have an iPhone app that loads the following URL: http://maps.google.com?q=Apple Stores&ll=37.331689,-122.030731&z=3 As expected, the google maps app loads on the phone, but zooms to the entire US. It does not appear to be respecting the z= parameter, or at least, not allowing a zoom level that shows stores in the area.
