  • Using Google Maps v3, PHP and Json to plot markers

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, I am creating a map using the new(ish) v3 of the Google Maps API I have managed to get a map displaying using code as below: var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(50.8194000,-0.1363000); var myOptions = { zoom: 14, center: myLatlng, mapTypeControl: false, scrollwheel: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("location-map"), myOptions); However I now want to add a number of markers I have stored in a PHP array. The Array currently looks like this if I print it out to screen: Array ( [0] => Array ( [poiUid] => 20 [poiName] => Brighton Cineworld [poiCode] => brighton-cineworld [poiLon] => -0.100450 [poiLat] => 50.810780 [poiType] => Cinemas ) [1] => Array ( [poiUid] => 21 [poiName] => Brighton Odeon [poiCode] => brighton-odeon [poiLon] => -0.144420 [poiLat] => 50.821860 [poiType] => Cinemas ) ) All the reading I have done so far suggests I turn this into JSON by using json_encode If I run the Array though this and echo it to the screen I get: [{"poiUid":"20","poiName":"Brighton Cineworld","poiCode":"brighton-cineworld","poiLon":"-0.100450","poiLat":"50.810780","poiType":"Cinemas"},{"poiUid":"21","poiName":"Brighton Odeon","poiCode":"brighton-odeon","poiLon":"-0.144420","poiLat":"50.821860","poiType":"Cinemas"}] The bit now is where I am struggling, I am not sure the encoded array is what I need to start populating markers, I think I need something like the code below but not sure how to add the markers from my passed through JSON var locations = $jsonPoiArray; for (var i = 0;i < locations.length; i += 1) { // Create a new marker };

  • Using Fancybox with Google Static Maps

    - by Levi Hackwith
    Setup I have multiple links on a page with the class location_link Each Links rel attribute is equal to a city state combo (i.e.,Omaha, NE) Once the page is loaded, a JavaScript function loops through all of the location_link items and binds a click event to them using jQuery. This click event fires a call to the Fancybox constructor that is supposed to show a Google Map of the location that link is associated with The Problem: Whenever I click on one of the "location links", I get the following error message: The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later. Code I've Already Written: function setUpLocationLinks() { locationLinks = $("a.location_link"); locationLinks.click( function() { var me = $(this); console.log(me.attr("href")); $.fancybox( { "showCloseButton" : true, "hideOnContentClick" : true, "titlePosition" : "inside", "title" : me.attr("rel"), "type" : "image" } ) return false; } ); } Research I've Already Done: The Google Static Map API no longer requires an API Key. The following is from the Google Static Maps API Page Note: The Google Static Maps API no longer requires a Maps API key! (Google Maps API Premier customers should instead sign their URLs using a new cryptographic key which will be sent to you. See the Premier documentation for more information.) The The Image URL I'm using does resolve and pulls back the data I need When I put the above mentioned URL into a standard <img> tag, the map shows up just fine. I'd like to pull this off without having to create some sort of dummy <img> tag that I'm constantly switching the src attribute out of. Hopefully, you'll find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • google maps api v3 - loop through overlays - overlayview methods

    - by user317005
    what's wrong with the code below? when i execute it, the map doesn't even show up. but when i put the overlayview methods outside the for-loop and manually assign a lat/lng then it magically works?! but does anyone know how i can loop through an array of lats/lngs (=items) using the overlayview methods? i hope this makes sense, just don't know how else to explain it. and unfortunately, i run my code on my localhost var overlay; OverlayTest.prototype = new google.maps.OverlayView(); [taken out: options] var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map_canvas'), options); var items = [ ['lat','lng'],['lat','lng'] ]; for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++) { var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(items[i][0], items[i][1]); var bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(latlng); overlay = new OverlayTest(map, bounds); function OverlayTest(map, bounds) { [taken out: not important] this.setMap(map); } OverlayTest.prototype.onAdd = function() { [taken out: not important] } OverlayTest.prototype.draw = function() { [taken out: not important] } }

That is for example, when the Intake form button is pushed, it will have its own set of tabs (its own tabcontrols) am i supposed to place multiple tab controls on the artboard, or is there a way to programatically change the names of the tabs, and there contents, when a button is pushed on the left ? thank you in advance. and here is a link hxxp://img709.imageshack.us/img709/554/tabcontrol.gif here is the code so far <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" x:Class="service.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="687" Height="480" mc:Ignorable="d"> <Window.Resources> <Storyboard x:Key="OnLoaded1"/> </Window.Resources> <Window.Triggers> <EventTrigger RoutedEvent="FrameworkElement.Loaded"> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource OnLoaded1}"/> </EventTrigger> </Window.Triggers> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Margin="0,0,-16,1"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0*"/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <DockPanel Margin="8,8,0,7" LastChildFill="False" Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="660"> <Menu VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="657" Height="32"> <MenuItem x:Name="file" Header="File"/> <MenuItem x:Name="edit" Header="Edit"> <MenuItem Width="100" Height="100" Header="MenuItem"/> </MenuItem> <MenuItem x:Name="view" Header="View"/> <MenuItem x:Name="preferences" Header="Preferences"/> <MenuItem x:Name="help" Header="Help"/> </Menu> </DockPanel> <TabControl x:Name="tabwin" Margin="137.224,46,19,7" Grid.Column="1"> <TabItem x:Name="intakeformsub" Header="Elegibility Form"> <Grid HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="490"/> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid/> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid/> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.567*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.433*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> </Grid> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid/> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.735*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.265*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> </Grid> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid/> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="TabItem"> <Grid/> </TabItem> </TabControl> <Grid x:Name="___buttontab" Margin="11.205,61,0,0" Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="122.019" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="276"> <Button VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="36" Content="Button"/> <Button Margin="0,40,0,0" Content="Oasis Assessments" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="36"/> <Button Margin="0,80,0,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="36" Content="Plan of Care"/> <Button Margin="0,120,0,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="36" Content="Medication Profile" RenderTransformOrigin="0.421,5.556"/> <Button Margin="0,0,0,80" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Height="36" Content="Clinical Notes"/> <Button Margin="0,0,0,40" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Height="36" Content="Infection Control"/> <Button x:Name="intakeformbtn" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="36" Content="Intake Form" Click="intakeform"> <Button.BindingGroup> <BindingGroup/> </Button.BindingGroup> </Button> <Button VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Height="36" Content="Discharge Summary"/> </Grid> <ProgressBar HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="8,0,0,7" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="104.795" Height="19" Grid.Column="1"/> </Grid> </Window>

  • WPF and events from dynamically created controls

    - by OKB
    Hi, I need some help to implement a common behavior in some controls. In my WPF application, I have a main form that contains a panel and a button: Ok The button will run a Save method when clicked.The Save method reads some data from the form and saves the data to a database. The panel is populated with dynamically created controls (such as textbox, dropdownlists, etc). The main form instantiates a MainViewModel class. This MainViewModel class instantiates a class called UIFactory. So we have 3 levels here. In the UIFactory class the controls is being created. The Panel from the main form is sent as a parameter to a method in the MainModelView class called GenerateUI. This GenerateUI method in the MainViewModel class calls a GenerateControls method on the UIFactory class that takes the same panel as a parameter. The GenerateControls method in the UIFactory class then adds dynamically created controls on the panel. What I want to achieve is that whenever the user hits ENTER when he is typing in one of those dynamically created controls e.g a textbox, I want that behavior to be the same as clicking on the button in my main form. But how do I do that? I thought of implementing Routed events on my controls, but I can't figure out how to do it. Could you please advise me on how to achieve my goal? Best Regards, OKB

  • Android Maps: Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY

    - by AP257
    I'm trying to use Android Maps, following the instructions in Hello MapView. I've added <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> in the Manifest, and I'm building against the 'Google APIs' target, which claims to be API version 7. So I don't think I'm doing anything obviously wrong, but the project refuses to build with this error: [2010-12-22 13:34:32 - FMS]Installing FMS.apk... [2010-12-22 13:35:01 - FMS]Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY [2010-12-22 13:35:01 - FMS]Please check logcat output for more details. [2010-12-22 13:35:01 - FMS]Launch canceled! logcat is telling me the following (not very enlightening): D/PackageParser( 55): Scanning package: /data/app/vmdl67147.tmp I/PackageParser( 55): com.android.fms: compat added android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE E/PackageManager( 55): Package com.android.fms requires unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps; failing! W/PackageManager( 55): Package couldn't be installed in /data/app/com.android.fms.apk D/AndroidRuntime( 206): Shutting down VM It is possible I haven't set up the Maps API key correctly - when I got it using keytools, I didn't specify an alias_name, though this didn't seem to cause an error. Can anyone help?

  • Durandal Google Maps not showing properly

    - by user1891037
    Trying to show Google Maps using the Durandal. I'm now simply working with Durandal HTML Starter Kit so the other modules and all engine works properly. The thing is when I added the Google Map it doesn't fit the div size (the big part of div is just grey). As I understand, the problem is causing because Google Maps added before page is completely loaded. But I can't figure out how can I hook on page load event. Here is the module code: define(['knockout', 'gmaps'], function (ko, gmaps) { return { displayName: 'Google Maps', myMap: ko.observable({ lat: ko.observable(32), lng: ko.observable(10)}), activate: function () { console.log('activate'); ko.bindingHandlers.map = { init: function (element, valueAccessor, allBindingsAccessor, viewModel) { console.log('init'); var mapObj = ko.utils.unwrapObservable(valueAccessor()); var latLng = new gmaps.LatLng( ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lat), ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lng)); var mapOptions = { center: latLng, zoom: 5, mapTypeId: gmaps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP}; mapObj.googleMap = new gmaps.Map(element, mapOptions); } } }, attached: function() { console.log('attached'); }, compositionComplete: function() { console.log('compositionComplete'); } }; }); And a very simple HTML code: <section> <div id="gmap-canvas" data-bind="map:myMap"></div> </section> I'm loading Google Maps with async plug-in in my shell.js. It works fine. Screenshot with trouble here - http://clip2net.com/s/ibswAa P.S. div size is defined in .CSS file. P.S. I tried to use getElementById approach provided here and it's work great if placed in compositionComplete block. But when I tried to move my bindings to this block nothing happens at all. Thanks!

  • HTML Presence Controls for Communications Server 14 CodePlex Project

    Showing Presence on the Web If youre running Office Communicator Server 2007 R2, you know that your only out-of-the-box option for showing presence on the web is to use the NameControl ActiveX control that ships as part of Office.  Being an ActiveX control, this obviously means that youre limited to Internet Explorer.  Also, nobody likes ActiveX controls What if you want to show the presence of users in a pure ASP.NET or HTML application and cant assume that the user has Communicator installed you need anASP.NET or HTML presence control.  HTML Presence Controls for Microsoft Communications Server 14 We recently worked with the UC team at Microsoft on a keynote demo for TechEd 2010 in New Orleans.  The demo was for a fictitious airline Fabrikam Airlines that wanted to show the presence of customer service and reservations agents on its website.  Customers could also start an instant message conversation with the agents using a Silverlight web chat window that used WCF to communicate with the backend UCMA application. We built HTML Presence Controls that use AJAX to poll a REST-based WCF service running in IIS and hosting a UCMA 3.0 presence subscription application.   Microsoft has graciously allowed us to publish these on CodePlex so that the development community can benefit from them:  http://htmlpresencecontrols.codeplex.com/ We will be maintaining the CodePlex project as new builds of UCMA 3.0 become available.  Check out the project home page on CodePlex for some more in-depth details on how the controls are implemented. ASP.NET Server Control Implementation Were providing an ASP.NET Server Control implementation that you can use stand-alone or in a GridView or Repeater (or other layout control).  The control has properties that allow you to control its appearance, e.g. you can choose whether or not to show the contacts name or availability text. You can also use the server control in a layout control such as a GridView by putting it in a TemplateColumn and binding to the Sip Uri in the data source. Disclaimer Once we started working on these, we realized why Microsoft hasnt shipped such controls as part of the product.  There are some tradeoffs you have to be aware of when using these controls, heres the high level. Privacy The backend UCMA 3.0 application that subscribes to presence of contacts runs as a trusted application and can thus retrieve the presence of any user in the organization.  Theres currently no good way in UCMA to apply any privacy rules to ensure that the consumer of the presence controls has permission to see the presence of the contacts that the controls are bound to.  Just to be absolutely crystal clear These controls provide a way to query the presence of any user in the organization, regardless of the privacy relationship between the person consuming the controls and the contacts whose presence is being displayed. Were exploring options for a design pattern that would allow you to inject some privacy controls.  Keep in mind though that you would most likely be responsible for implementing this logic, as there is currently no functionality in UCMA that allows you to do that. Polling the WCF REST Service The controls poll the backend WCF service to retrieve the presence of contacts - you can control the refresh interval so that they poll less often. We implemented a caching layer so that the WCF service is always communicating with a presence cache it never communicates directly with Communications Server.  For example, if your web page is showing the presence of sip:[email protected] and 500 people have the page open, the presence cache only contains one instance of the subscription Communications Server is not being polled 500 times for the presence of that contact. Once the presence of a contact changes, it is updated in the cache.  There are some server-based push mechanisms that would work nicely here, such as the one that Outlook Web Access 2010 uses.  Unfortunately we didnt have time to explore these options. Community Contribution Take a look at the project Issue Tracker, there are a couple of things we can use some help with.  Shoot me a note if youre interested in contributing to the project. • Are Google Maps Open?

    - by EmbeddedInsider
    Right now they are ‘free’ but it is clear what the path forward is:   4.3 Advertising. The Service currently does not include advertising in the maps images. However, Google reserves the right to include advertising in the maps images provided to you through the Service, but will provide you with ninety (90) days notice prior to the commencement of advertising in the maps images. Such notice may be provided on relevant Google websites, including but not limited to the Google Geo Developers Blog and the Google Maps API Group (or such successor URLs that Google may designate from time to time). During that 90 day period, you may terminate your use of the Service, or provide notice of your refusal to accept advertising in the maps images in accordance with Google's policies and procedures for providing such notice (which Google may make available from time to time in its sole discretion). • How can I easily create cloud texture maps?

    - by EdwardTeach
    I am making 3d planets in my game; these will be viewed as "globes". Some of them will need cloud layers. I looked at various Blender tutorials for creating "earth", and for their cloud layers they use earth cloud maps from NASA. However I will be creating a fictional universe with many procedurally-generated planets. So I would like to use many variations. I'm hoping there's a way to procedurally generate cloud maps such as the NASA link. I will also need to create gas giants, so I will also need other kinds of cloud texture maps. If that is too difficult, I could fall back to creating several variations of cloud maps. For example, 3 for earth-like, 3 for gas giants, etc. So how do I statically create or programmatically generate such cloud maps?

  • Draw polygon using mouse on google maps

    - by Kunal
    I need to draw polygon using mouse and mark a particular area on google maps. The purpose is to mark an area on google maps and then showing hotels and attractions on that area. The user will mark the hotels on google map while creating them so the db will have their latitude and longitudes. How can I draw the polygon and fill it with a color as background to mark the area in Google Maps? I have read the API Manual “how to draw polygons?” basically you would need to mark multiple points and then combine them into a polygon. But I will need to do this using mouse drag, just like drawing a shape. Kindly help me out how to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

  • Google Maps, Ruby on Rails, Zoom level with one marker

    - by Enric Ribas
    I am adding google maps support with apneadiving / Google-Maps-for-Rails (thanks awesome gem) I am finding one slight glitch, however, which very likely is my fault. auto_zoom works great when there are multiple markers. However, when there is only one marker it is zoomed in to the max level which is not pretty. "zoom" will only work when auto_zoom is false, so that's not what I want. So therefore you could use "maxZoom" but now users cannot zoom in manually beyond that point which is not what I want. Is there a way around this? Is my explanation making sense? Is this a limitation of Google Maps API? Thanks...

  • Setting marker title in Google Maps API 3 using jQuery

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, I am having a couple of problems with Google Maps and jQuery. Wondered if anyone can help with the smaller of the two problems and hopefully it will help me to fixing the bigger one. I am using the below code to populate a google map, basically it uses generated HTML to populate the maps in the form: <div class="item mapSearch" id="map52.48228_-1.9026:800"> <div class="box-prise"><p>(0.62km away)</p><div class="btn-book-now"> <a href="/venue/800.htm">BOOK NOW</a> </div> </div><img src="http://media.toptable.com/images/thumb/13152.jpg" alt="Metro Bar and Grill" width="60" height="60" /> <div class="info"> <h2><a href="/venue/800.htm">Metro Bar and Grill</a></h2> <p class="address">73 Cornwall Street, Birmingham, B3 2DF</p><strong class="proposal">2 courses £14.50</strong> <dl> <dt>Diner Rating: </dt> <dd>7.8</dd> </dl></div></div> <div class="item mapSearch" id="map52.4754_-1.8999:3195"> <div class="box-prise"><p>(0.97km away)</p><div class="btn-book-now"> <a href="/venue/3195.htm">BOOK NOW</a> </div> </div><img src="http://media.toptable.com/images/thumb/34998.jpg" alt="Filini Restaurant - Birmingham" width="60" height="60" /> <div class="info"> <h2><a href="/venue/3195.htm">Filini Restaurant - Birmingham</a></h2> <p class="address">Radisson Blu Hotel, 12 Holloway Circus, Queensway, Birmingham, B1 1BT</p><strong class="proposal">2 for 1: main courses </strong> <dl> <dt>Diner Rating: </dt> <dd>7.8</dd> </dl></div></div> <div class="item mapSearch" id="map52.47775_-1.90619:10657"> <div class="box-prise"><p>(1.05km away)</p><div class="btn-book-now"> <a href="/venue/10657.htm">BOOK NOW</a> </div> </div><img src="http://media.toptable.com/images/thumb/34963.jpg" alt="B1 " width="60" height="60" /> <div class="info"> <h2><a href="/venue/10657.htm">B1 </a></h2> <p class="address">Central Square , Birmingham, B1 1HH</p><strong class="proposal">25% off food</strong> <dl> <dt>Diner Rating: </dt> <dd>7.9</dd> </dl></div></div> The JavaScript loops though all the divs with class mapSearch and uses this to plot markers using the div ID to get the lat/lon and ID of the venue: var locations = $(".mapSearch"); for (var i=0;i<locations.length;i++) { var id = locations[i].id; if (id) { var jsLonLat = id.substring(3).split(":")[0]; var jsId = id.substring(3).split(":")[1]; var jsLat = jsLonLat.split("_")[0]; var jsLon = jsLonLat.split("_")[1]; var jsName = $("h2").text(); var jsAddress = $("p.address").text(); var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(jsLat,jsLon); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: latlng, map:map, icon: greenRestaurantImage, title: jsName }); google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { //Check to see if info window already exists if (!infowindow) { //if doesn't exist then create a empty InfoWindow object infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); } //Set the content of InfoWindow infowindow.setContent(jsAddress); //Tie the InfoWindow to the market infowindow.open(map,marker); }); bounds.extend(latlng); map.fitBounds(bounds); } } The markers all plot OK on the map, however I am having probs with the infoWindow bit. I want to display info about each venue when clicked, however using my code above it just puts all info in one box when clicked, not individually. Hoping it is a simple fix! Hoping once I fix this I can work out a way to get the info window displaying if I hover over the div in the html.

  • Google Maps API Key alert problem

    I have a problem with my Google Maps API key. I get an alert saying "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key." When I prees OK to the alert the map are loading and working fine. The same problem is already posted: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1803327/google-maps-api-key-not-working I have tried to request the API key for both "http://www.domain.com" and "http://domain.com" but I still get the alert. When I follow the instructions from their FQA and use alert(window.location.host) I get www.domain.com but the api key generator will only accept the domain if the prefix is http:// Does anyone have a solution to this?

  • Google maps spatial reference system

    - by JavaRocky
    What is Google map's spatial reference system using when you enter a lat, long into the maps search bar? I've found hints that it might be WGS84 but after converting to that coordinate system, nothing shows up when i paste the coordinates into the google maps search box. I am converting from GDA MGA 56. Sample: Input MGA56 coords: 336301, 6253363 Expected WGS86 coords: -33.8473340793201, 151.230631835944 I get: 16834916.928327594 -4008321.1020318186 Spatial coord systems: EPSG:28356 for MGA56 EPSG:900913 for WGS86 (google maps) I am using geotools to do the transform: CoordinateReferenceSystem crsMga56 = CRS.parseWKT(mga56); CoordinateReferenceSystem crsGmaps = CRS.parseWKT(gmaps); Coordinate coordinate = new Coordinate(336301, 6253363); Point point = new GeometryFactory().createPoint(coordinate); MathTransform transform = CRS.findMathTransform(crsMga56, crsGmaps); Geometry geometry = JTS.transform(point, transform); I know the transform is not correct, as when i use an online tool it gives me the correct coords. http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/transform/mga2geo%5Fgda.pl?east=336301&north=6253363&zone=56

  • Google Maps custom marker - can the iframe accept one like the static maps?

    - by alex
    I was reading the static maps API, and it says you can include a custom marker in the GET params. You simply link to an image file. I now have a second Google Map within an iframe, and was wondering if you can attach custom markers via the GET params to it? Here is the src attribute of the iframe currently. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=111+Fake+Street+Noosaville+Queensland+Australia&ie=UTF8&output=embed I can't seem to find the documentation on how to do this, if possible. Is this possible?

  • How to handle inaccurate Google Maps locations?

    - by Azzizz81
    When I type in addresses in Google maps for locations in Asia, quite a lot of them are off by more than 200 metres. For example, "blk 85 bedok north road, singapore" is off by more than 300 metres. While I don't expect Google Maps to be spot on every time, sometimes the error is too great for certain use cases. What options do I have to handle inaccurate Google Maps locations in a web app? The web app should let the user enter an address or postal code as part of an entry and I will geocode the address and store the lat-long.

At the second pushpin I get the following error: System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range. at MS.Internal.XcpImports.CheckHResult(UInt32 hr) at MS.Internal.XcpImports.Collection_AddValue[T](PresentationFrameworkCollection`1 collection, CValue value) at MS.Internal.XcpImports.Collection_AddDependencyObject[T](PresentationFrameworkCollection`1 collection, DependencyObject value) at System.Windows.PresentationFrameworkCollection`1.AddDependencyObject(DependencyObject value) at System.Windows.Controls.UIElementCollection.AddInternal(UIElement value) at System.Windows.PresentationFrameworkCollection`1.Add(T value) at MapInfo.Silverlight.CitiesControl.MainPage.c_GetCitiesCompleted(Object sender, GetCitiesCompletedEventArgs e) Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I am setting the following properties before adding it to the map: public Location Location { get { return this.GetValue(MapLayer.PositionProperty) as Location; } set { this.SetValue(MapLayer.PositionProperty, value); } } this.SetValue(MapLayer.PositionOriginProperty, PositionOrigin.BottomLeft);

  • Building a Store Locator ASP.NET Application Using Google Maps API (Part 1)

    Over the past couple of months I've been working on a couple of projects that have used the free Google Maps API to add interactive maps and geocoding capabilities to ASP.NET websites. In a nutshell, the Google Maps API allow you to display maps on your website, to add markers onto the map, and to compute the latitude and longitude of an address, among many other tasks. With some Google Maps API experience under my belt, I decided it would be fun to implement a store locator feature and share it here on 4Guys. A store locator lets a visitor enter an address or postal code and then shows the nearby stores. Typically, store locators display the nearby stores on both a map and in a grid, along with the distance between the entered address and each store within the area. To see a store locator in action, check out the Wells Fargo store locator. This article is the first in a multi-part series that walks through how to add a store locator feature to your ASP.NET application. In this inaugural article, we'll build the database table to hold the store information. Next, we'll explore how to use the Google Maps API's geocoding feature to allow for flexible address entry and how to translate an address into latitude and longitude pairs. Armed with the latitude and longitude coordinates, we'll see how to retrieve nearby locations as well as how to compute the distance between the address entered by the visitor and the each nearby store. (A future installment will examine how to display a map showing the nearby stores.) Read on to learn more! Read More >

  • Translate Languages in IE 8 with Bing Translator

    - by Asian Angel
    Do you need side by side or hover language translations while browsing? Then join us as we look at the Bing Translator accelerator for Internet Explorer 8. Note: This article is geared towards those who may not have used this accelerator before or declined to “add it” when setting up IE 8. Using Bing Translator Once you have clicked on Add to Internet Explorer and confirmed the installation your new accelerator is ready to use. For our example we chose a Norwegian news article. Right-click within the webpage to access the context menu entry for translating. Depending on the originating language, you may want to go ahead and set it manually before beginning the translation. The translation will be opened in a new tab… Note: The same entry can also be accessed through the All Accelerators listing. There are four settings available for viewing your translations: side by side, top/bottom, original with hover translation, & translation with hover original. First a look at the side by side view. When maximized the window area will be divided 50/50 and as you hover your mouse or scroll in one side the same action will occur simultaneously in the other side. The top/bottom view. As above browser actions occur simultaneously in both sections. The original with hover translation view. Especially helpful if you are studying a new language and want to check your level of understanding for the original language. The translation with original hover view. Four different viewing options make it easy to find the one that best suits your needs. Conclusion If you need a convenient way to translate between languages in Internet Explorer 8, then the Bing Translator accelerator just might be what you have been looking for. • Removing google mail markers with jquery after getting them from xml

    - by sebastian
    Hi there, I'm trying to create a page that contains a google map. The map is filled with markers from an xml file. I just can't figure out how to remove "old" markers, that don't match the latest user input. At the moment my js stops after the very first xml item. The clearList.push(marker); is supposed to put the generated marker away for later usage. When the user hits the search button I want all markers to be gone and use clearMarkers();. Maybe someone here can help Sebastian Here is my JavaScript: $(document).ready(function() { $("#map").css({height: 650}); var clearList = []; var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(52.518143, 13.372879); MYMAP.init('#map', myLatLng, 11); $("#showmarkers").click(function(e){ clearMarkers(); MYMAP.placeMarkers('markers.xml'); }); }); function clearMarkers() { $(clearList).each(function () { this.setmap(null); }); clearList = []; } var MYMAP = { map: null, bounds: null } MYMAP.init = function(selector, latLng, zoom) { var myOptions = { zoom:zoom, center: latLng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID } this.map = new google.maps.Map($(selector)[0], myOptions); this.bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); } MYMAP.placeMarkers = function(filename) { $.get(filename, function(xml){ $(xml).find("marker").each(function(){ // read values from xml for searching var platzart = $(this).find('platzart').text(); var ort = $(this).find('ort').text(); var open = $(this).find('open').text(); if (platzart =="Kunstrasen" && $('#kunstrasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Rasen" && $('#rasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Tartan" && $('#tartan').attr('checked') || platzart =="Boltzplatz" && $('#boltzplatz').attr('checked') ){ // read values from xml for additional info var name = $(this).find('name').text(); var plz = $(this).find('plz').text(); var note = $(this).find('note').text(); var adress = $(this).find('adress').text(); // create a new LatLng point for the marker var lat = $(this).find('lat').text(); var lng = $(this).find('lng').text(); var point = new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(lat),parseFloat(lng)); // extend the bounds to include the new point MYMAP.bounds.extend(point); // create new marker var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: point, map: MYMAP.map }); clearList.push(marker); // add onclick overlay var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); var html='<strong>'+name+'</strong.><br />'+platzart; google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infoWindow.setContent(html); infoWindow.open(MYMAP.map, marker); }); } MYMAP.map.fitBounds(MYMAP.bounds); }); }); } Thanks in advance
