    I'm looking to create a macro in Excel 2007 which will do the following: copy the formatting and values from a sheet called 'report', insert this into a new workbook, naming the file with the value in 'B9' and appending the word 'report' to this when copying the data into a new workbook, the formatting of the original should be retained, but cell contents pasted as values rather than formulas prior to saving the file with the above name, the user will be prompted to choose their folder at the end, a message will be displayed alerting the user that the file has been saved successfully Any assistance would be much appreciated.   • Silverlight toolkit chart to many lables on axis

    I'm using the newest chart control from silverlight toolkit to plot some data. For small cases it works ok, but for bigger samples the X axis labels overlap. It would be no problem if the chart would simply omit some of the values or I could specify to just show every 10th of them ... I couldn't find any properties providing this behavior. Any ideas?

    Are there any idioms for returning multiple values from a bash function within a script? http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/assortedtips.html describes how to echo multiple values and process the results (e.g., example 35-17), but that gets tricky if some of the returned values are strings with spaces in. A more structured way to return would be to assign to global variables, like foo () { FOO_RV1="bob" FOO_RV2="bill" } foo echo "foo returned ${FOO_RV1} and ${FOO_RV2}" I realize that if I need re-entrancy in a shell script I'm probably doing it wrong, but I still feel very uncomfortable throwing global variables around just to hold return values. Is there a better way? I would prefer portability, but it's probably not a real limitation if I have to specify #!/bin/bash.

    I am using a PreferenceActivity to let the user set some values. I am feeding it the xml file with the defined preferences. I have set all the android:defaultValue="" for them. When I start my application, I need the preferences, or if they are not set yet manually, I want the default values: SharedPreferences prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); boolean value = prefs.getBoolean("key"), false); However, when android:defaultValue="true" I still get false. So, it looks like the defaultValues set in the XML are not used anywhere but when initializing the preferences-screen. I don't want to hardcode the default values in the getBoolean() method. So, is there a way get the default-values with only defining these in 1 place?

  • Viewstate is setting control values incorrectly.

    I have a page with several checkboxes on it. The checkboxes correlate to user permissions so when I change users and the page refreshes, the values of the checkboxes should change since each user is different. In spite of the fact that my code sets the value of the checkbox, viewstate or whatever changes the values to what the previous user's values were. I tried chk.EnableViewState = false; but that did not help. I set EnableViewState="false" EnableViewStateMac="false" EnableEventValidation="false" in the page directives, but that doesn't help. The only way I have been able to fix this is to add a unique value to the controls so that their names are always different. I am sure it's an issue of ignorance. Thank you for your help. There is no databinding per se. When the page loads I am creating the textboxes and setting their values via code.

    My lua function receives a table that is of the array form: { field1, field2, nil, field3, } No keys, only values. I'm trying to convert this to a pseudo CSV form by grabbing all the fields and concatenating them into a string. Here is my function: function ArenaRewind:ConvertToCSV(tableName) csvRecord = "\n" for i,v in pairs(tableName) do if v == nil then v = "nil" end csvRecord = csvRecord .. "\"" .. v .. "\"" if i ~= #tableName then csvRecord = csvRecord .. "," end end return csvRecord end Not the prettiest code by any means, but it seems to iterate through them and grab all the non-nil values. The other table iteration function is ipairs() which stops as soon as it hits a nil value. Is there any easy way to grab all of these fields including the nil values? The tables are various sizes, so I hope to refrain from accessing each part like an array [i.e., tableName[1] through tableName[4]) and just grabbing the nil values that way. Thanks in advance.

For this reason, the Bind function is used inside the EditItemTemplate or InsertItemTemplate of a data-bound control. Why is Bind() needed to extract values and pass them to GridView. The second df contains only the "first day of each month" forecasted values. I would like to substitute the values from the second df into the first one. In other words, the "first day of each month" values in the first df will be substituted for the "first day of each month" values from the second df. I tried to write an lapply loop that substitutes the values and was only trying to use match function. But I failed. I could not find the similar question at StackOverflow either... Greatful for any suggestions!

  • Populating ComboBoxDataColumn items and values

    I have a "populate combobox", and I'm so happy with it that I've even started using more comboboxes. It takes the combobox object by reference with the ID of the "value set" (or whatever you want to call it) from a table and adds the items and their respective values (which differ) and does the job. I've recently had the brilliant idea of using comboboxes in a gridview, and I was happy to notice that it worked JUST LIKE a single combobox, but populating all the comboboxes in the given column at the same time. ObjComboBox.Items.Add("yadayada"); //works just like ObjComboBoxColumn.Items.Add("blablabla"); But When I started planning how to populate these comboboxes I've noticed: There's no "Values" property in ComboBoxDataColumn. ObjComboBox.Values = whateverArray; //works, but the following doesn't ObjComboBoxColumn.Values = whateverArray; Questions: 0 - How do I populate it's values ? (I suspect it's just as simple, but uses another name) 1 - If it works just like a combobox, what's the explanation for not having this attribute ? -----[EDIT]------ So I've checked out Charles' quote, and I've figured I had to change my way of populating these bad boys. Instead of looping through the strings and inserting them one by one in the combobox, I should grab the fields I want to populate in a table, and set one column of the table as the "value", and other one as the "display". So I've done this: ObjComboBoxColumn.DataSource = DTConfig; //Double checked, guaranteed to be populated ObjComboBoxColumn.ValueMember = "Code"; ObjComboBoxColumn.DisplayMember = "Description"; But nothing happens, if I use the same object as so: ObjComboBoxColumn.Items.Add("StackOverflow"); It is added. There is no DataBind() function. It finds the two columns, and that's guaranteed ("Code" and "Description") and if I change their names to nonexistant ones it gives me an exception, so that's a good sign. -----[EDIT]------ I have a table in SQL Server that is something like code  |  text —————    1    | foo    2    | bar It's simple, and with other comboboxes (outside of gridviews) i've successfully populated looping through the rows and adding the texts: ObjComboBox.Items.Add(MyDataTable.Rows[I]["MyColumnName"].ToString()); And getting every value, adding it into an array, and setting it like: ObjComboBox.Values = MyArray; I'd like to populate my comboboxColumns just as simply as I do with comboboxes.

  • Using perl to parse a file and insert specific values into a database

    Disclaimer: I'm a newbie at scripting in perl, this is partially a learning exercise (but still a project for work). Also, I have a much stronger grasp on shell scripting, so my examples will likely be formatted in that mindset (but I would like to create them in perl). Sorry in advance for my verbosity, I want to make sure I am at least marginally clear in getting my point across I have a text file (a reference guide) that is a Word document converted to text then swapped from Windows to UNIX format in Notepad++. The file is uniform in that each section of the file had the same fields/formatting/tables. What I have planned to do, in a basic way is grab each section, keyed by unique batch job names and place all of the values into a database (or maybe just an excel file) so all the fields can be searched/edited for each job much easier than in the word file and possibly create a web interface later on. So what I want to do is grab each section by doing something like: sed -n '/job_name_1_regex/,/job_name_2_regex/' file.txt --how would this be formatted within a perl script? (grab the section in total, then break it down further from there) To read the file in the script I have open FORMAT_FILE, 'test_format.txt'; and then use foreach $line (<FORMAT_FILE>) to parse the file line by line. --is there a better way? My next problem is that since I converted from a word doc with tables, which looks like: Table Heading 1 Table Heading 2 Heading 1/Value 1 Heading 2/Value 1 Heading 1/Value 2 Heading 2/Value 2 but the text file it looks like: Table Heading 1 Table Heading 2Heading 1/Value 1Heading 1/Value 2Heading 2/Value 1Heading 2/Value 2 So I want to have "Heading 1" and "Heading 2" as a columns name and then put the respective values there. I just am not sure how to get the values in relation to the heading from the text file. The values of Heading 1 will always be the line number of Heading 1 plus 2 (Heading 1, Heading 2, Values for heading 1). I know this can be done in awk/sed pretty easily, just not sure how to address it inside a perl script. After I have all the right values and such, linking it up to a database may be an issue as well, I haven't started looking at the way perl interacts with DBs yet. Sorry if this is a bit scatterbrained...it's still not fully formed in my head.

If one or more is missing, then return zero results. example table +----+--------+----------+ | id | Fruit | Color | +----+--------+----------+ | 1 | apple | red | | 2 | mango | yellow | | 3 | banana | yellow | +----+--------+----------+ example "wrong" code: (this must return 3 rows) select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red AND Color = yellow but select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red AND Color = green must return 0 rows. (If i use select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red OR Color = green i get 1 row which is not what i need) I am using PHP with form where user checks different checkboxes that represent different values of the same column.     Looking in the android sdk folders, I've found a file called values/config.xml. This seems to be somewhere that you can define values for later use in layouts and animations. Given the config.xml: <resources> <string name="config_somePadding">50dip</string> </resources> How would I reference this to use as the layout_height in a layout xml file? @string/config_somePadding is actually the only one I've found that doesn't throw an error in Eclipse (even though there isn't a config_somePadding in values/strings.xml), but it appears to just put an empty string. In the sdk, they use an integer for animation duration. They reference it like this: android:duration="@android:integer/config_longAnimTime". Is there a way to use values that aren't integers in the layout_height attribute?

    In SQL Server 2005, I'm trying to figure out why I'm not able to insert multiple fields into a table. The following query, which inserts one record, works fine: INSERT INTO [MyDB].[dbo].[MyTable] ([FieldID] ,[Description]) VALUES (1000,N'test') However, the following query, which specifies more than one value, fails: INSERT INTO [MyDB].[dbo].[MyTable] ([FieldID] ,[Description]) VALUES (1000,N'test'),(1001,N'test2') I get this message: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 5 Incorrect syntax near ','. When I looked up the help for INSERT in SQL Sever Management Studio, one of their examples showed using the "Values" syntax that I used (with groups of values in parentheses and separated by commas). The help documentation I found in SQL Server Management Studio looks like it's for SQL Server 2008, so perhaps that's the reason that the insert doesn't work. Either way, I can't figure out why it won't work.

So lets assume, the user selects atleast 2 values. Is there any way to store the multiple values in table. I have implemented by concatinating choices of users in a column in the table. I later found that it is a bad practise. Currently i can think of using Bitwise operator and habtm. What are the different ways for storing multiple choices values in table? If I am implementing in rails, What is the best way to implement this with OOP concepts? Is there any builtin options in rails?

  • Java singleton VO class implementing serializable, having default values using getter methods

    Hi All I have a J2SE application having user threads running in a separate JVM outside JBOSS server. During startup, J2SE invokes a EJB inside jboss, by passing a new object(singleton) of simple JAVA VO class having getter/setter methods. {The VO class is a singleton and implements serialiable(as mandated by EJB)}. EJB receives the object, reads all db configuration and uses the setter methods of new object to set all the values. It then returns back this updated object back to J2SE in the same remote call. After J2SE receives the object(singleton/serializable), if i invoke getter methods, I could see only default values set during object creation before EJB call, and not the values set by the EJB. Kindly throw some light on, why the received object from EJB does not see any updated values and how to rectify this. I believe it got to do with object initialization during deserialization. And i tried overriding readResolve() in the VO class, but of no help. With Regards, Krishna
