    I created a live usb using usb-creator-gtk. I installed Ubuntu with it and all was good with the world.     I'm trying to get Xen 4.0.1 run as dom0 on a fresh/clean install of 10.10 desktop (x64).   • Stream audio to mobile device

    I'd like to stream the audio from Ubuntu 10.10 to my HTC Desire HD (Android 2.2). I've seen solutions so far for streaming from audio players, but I'd like to stream any audio output from the PC to my phone. My use case is for watching TV/Films in VLC or online (BBC iPlayer) in bed, without having to use my surround sound system which is likely to wake up my house mates. I'm not just talking about music from Banshee, but any audio that the system makes. I was thinking that PulseAudio is pretty powerful, is it possible to route audio through that to a mobile device? Can it be done through bluetooth? Cheers in advance!

    With the huge explosion of mobile devices and addition of HTML5/CSS3, there seems to be a shift towards "responsive" designs (i.e., adapting to smaller screen sizes) which seems to be achieved using CSS3's Media Queries. My question is, given the current need of adapting to both desktop and mobile, is it common practice to actually organize two versions of your website (one for desktop and one for mobile)? Or is there just one version with different css files for targeting different devices and screens? Handling just cross-browser (ie6, ff3, opera9, etc...) HTML4/5, CSS2/3 was already hard enough, but now we're expected to handle cross-device (phone, tablet, etc...) as well, so my assumption is company's would create a separate project for mobile and redirect based on the user agent, but this is just a guess.

  • Handheld device software - Handheld tuners?

    Hey I've been looking around and really don't understand what software some of these company's use for their handheld devices. I've used a lot of Handheld Tuners (Cobb Accessport, Diablo Sport). I've gotten more and more knowledgable of programming and I'm really wanting to understand what software they use on these devices to have a graphical interface. And to hold all the files to flash over to the ecu. I'm just unsure how you would get basically all the components to work together (screen, buttons, memory) without having drivers installed. I could be totally wrong here on using the term drivers, but that's what I would like some help to get more knowledge on (only thing I've really found is making a handheld game boy from scratch,but that was using a emulator.). I've tried looking it up but can't really find a good write up or explanation anywhere I look. Just really would like to put a little device together and have a simple user interface and work from there. Thanks, Nathan

  • DVC101 Video Capture Device on USB hub - Ubuntu Server 12.04

    I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop I use as a media server/video capture system. It only has 2 USB ports and I have a total of 3 devices I need to connect. The DVC101 works perfectly while plugged directly into the USB port in back of the laptop. Unfortunately it does not get recognized when plugged into a passive or powered USB hub. Questions: Is there something I am missing on the Ubuntu side? Something I need to do that will allow the device to be recognized through the hub? If not, will the extra USB ports on a dell laptop dock (port replicator) act the same as the aftermarket hubs? I know this one is off topic of Ubuntu but any input appreciated.

  • Grub can't find device on boot resulting in Grub Rescue

    So I have 2 hard drives a HDD 320GB and a SSD 20GB. Before I had Windows 7 on the HDD and Ubuntu on the SSD but wanted to get rid of windows and reinstall a clean Ubuntu on the SSD then use the HDD for storage. So I deleted everything from the HDD and set up the SSD with 18GB ext4 and 2GB Swap and installed Ubuntu on the 18GB ext4. Though now when I boot up I get "Error: No such device Grub Rescue" I have a live USB and I ran the Boot Repair following these instructions - grub rescue after install of Ubuntu 12.04 (dual boot) - it says successful though still have the same problem.     I have a Huawei K3765 (USB ID 12D1:1520) and I'm trying to use it with Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. I have usb-modeswitch installed, so when I plug the device I can see that it gets switched from storage-mode to modem-mode. My problem is that when I try to create a broadband mobile connection for it, NetworkManager doesn't detect the modem... I tried this on two different laptops. /var/log/daemon.log doesn't show anything of interest, AFAIKT... What could I try?

Is there a way to have independent devices?   • No such device = Grub Rescue 13.10

    Noob here. I just installed 13.10 yesterday And it booted up for me several times and all was well. Then this morning when I went to boot I received a "No such device" error and a "grub rescue" command line prompt. I tried running the live disc and re-installing Ubuntu 13.10 However that was a fail. The same messages kept occurring. Then I tried to boot up in Windows 7. Also a fail. I then attempted to run a Windows 7 restore disc. You guessed it - Fail. This sucks. What do I do?

  • What's involved in resetting the graphics device?

    I'm playing with XNA 4.0, VS2010. I've created a window (not maximized) and drawn some sprites. All is good until I resize the window, after which the sprites stop displaying or only partially display. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with needing to reset the device or something, but can't find any clear instructions or sample code. It's not just a case of needing to increase the preferredbackbuffer size, because even if I shrink the window I get this symptom. I've looked at the source code that I was able to get from Microsoft before they shut down XNA, but it doesn't actually explain anything. Any help or advice? If it makes any difference I'm creating DrawableGameComponents and doing my updates and drawing in their Draw/Update routines.

  • USB audio device not detected [solved]

    I've been having problems with USB sound for some time (it used to work about 6 months ago). I find that any USB sound device that I connect is not recognised, and is not listed by aplay -l I've tried disabling pulseaudio. I've tried purging and re-installing alsa-base, pulseaudio, and pavucontrol. To no avail. I'm using 12.04 LTS. I found the solution: 12.04 does not have the needed kernel module snd-usb-hiface this is introduced in the 3.11.1 kernel and installing that on 12.04 gives USB sound for my equipment.     I have a system with the following setup: I use: Windows CE 6 R3 Microsoft's Bluetooth stack including all profiles Motorola H500 The Audio Gateway service is up and running (checked through services list in cmd) GSM Module is functional - I am able to set outgoing calls and to answer calls. Bluetooth is functional - the A2DP profile plays music to Motorola headphones (can't remember the model right now) I want to hold a conversation using a headset device. I have included all Bluetooth components in the catalog. I pair the device using the Control Panel applet. When I press the button on the Motorla device to answer a call I get a print by the Audio Gateway: BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: A Bluetooth peer device has connected to the Audio Gateway. BTAGSVC: Could not open registry key for BT Addr: 2. BTAGSVC: The peer device was not accepted since the user has never confirmed it as a device to be used. So my questions are as follows: What do I need to do to pair the device with the Audio Gateway? Once my device is paired, do I need to set anything else up? (except for the GSM module of course)

  • what's the right way to cause a subview to redraw when the device orientation changes?

    I have a view controller with a view and one subview. When the device orientation changes the view auto-redraws but the subview doesn't. If I explicitly do [subview setNeedsDisplay] it redraws but I don't have a logical place to put that call in my code. And, since I don't have to explicitly tell the view to redraw, it seems counter-intuitive to tell the subview to redraw. Is there a way to make the subview auto-redraw when the view redraws?

  • How to create a virtual audio device and stream audio input with it

    Is it possible to create another audio device and redirect only wanted input streams to it? Here's my concrete problem: I am broadcasting a game via XFire and it uses the Windows audio device to capture any audio I receive. As I am broadcasting, other users who watch the video stream are communicating with me over Skype, and they hear themselves back within the video stream and it is entirely logical since I am broadcasting the audio I hear. What I want to do is create another audio device within Windows and redirect (pipe) ONLY the audio input from that game and not the input reveived from Skype. I would then tell XFire to use that newly created "virtual" audio device to broadcast and therefore my partners won't hear themselves back. Is there any software that can do that or can it be achieved natively with Windows? (I am under Windows 7).
