  • keeping references to inflated custom views

    - by darren
    Hi While researching how to create custom compound views in Android, I have come across this pattern a lot (example comes from the Jteam blog) : public class FirstTab extends LinearLayout { private ImageView imageView; private TextView textView; private TextView anotherTextView; public FirstTab(Context context, AttributeSet attributeSet) { super(context, attributeSet); LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); inflater.inflate(R.layout.firstTab, this); } } I mostly understand how this is working, except for the part where inflate() is called. The documentation says that this method returns a View object, but in this example the author does not store the result anywhere. After inflation, how is the new View created fromt eh XML associated with this class? I thought about assigning it to "this", but that seems very wrong. thanks for any clarification.

  • I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS when MaxConcurrentOperationCount > 1

    - by kudorgyozo
    Hello i am using NSOperationQueue to download images in the background. I have created a custom NSOperation to download the images. I put the images in table cells. The problem is if I do [operationQueue setMaxConcurrentOperationCount: 10] and i scroll down several cells the program crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Every time it crashes at the same place in the table. There are 3 cells one after the other which are for the same company and have the same logo so basically it should download the images 3 times. Every other time it works fine. - (void) main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:self.imageURL]; debugLog(@"downloading image: %@", self.imageURL); //NSError *error = nil; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; [url release]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; [data release]; if (image) { if (image.size.width != ICONWIDTH && image.size.height != ICONHEIGHT) { UIImage *resizedImage; CGSize itemSize = CGSizeMake(ICONWIDTH, ICONHEIGHT); UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(itemSize); CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, itemSize.width, itemSize.height); [image drawInRect:imageRect]; resizedImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); self.theImage = resizedImage; } else { self.theImage = image; } [image release]; } [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; [pool release]; } This is how i handle downloading the images. If i comment out [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; in the function above it doesn't crash but of course it is useless. -(void) didFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *) imageDownloader { [self performSelectorOnMainThread: @selector(handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:) withObject: imageDownloader waitUntilDone: FALSE]; } -(void) handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *)imageDownloadOperation { NSArray *visiblePaths = [self.myTableView indexPathsForVisibleRows]; CompanyImgDownloaderState *stateObject = (CompanyImgDownloaderState *)[imageDownloadOperation stateObject]; if ([visiblePaths containsObject: stateObject.indexPath]) { //debugLog(@"didFinishDownloadingImage %@ %@", imageDownloader.theImage); UITableViewCell *cell = [self.myTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: stateObject.indexPath]; UIImageView *imageView = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag: 1]; if (imageDownloadOperation.theImage) { imageView.image = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; stateObject.company.icon = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; } else { imageView.image = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; stateObject.company.icon = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; } } }

  • Scale background image to wrap content of layout

    - by bjg222
    I have a layout that contains some text fields and has a background image that's displayed at the top of my activity. I'd like the background image to scale to wrap the content (don't care about aspect ratio). However, the image is larger than content, so the layout instead wraps the background image. Here's my original code: <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/HeaderList" android:layout_gravity="top" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@drawable/header"> <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/NameText" android:text="Jhn Doe" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:textSize="30sp" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:paddingLeft="4dp" android:paddingTop="4dp" /> <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:id="@+id/HoursText" android:text="170 hours" android:textSize="23sp" android:layout_below="@+id/NameText" android:paddingLeft="4dp" /> </RelativeLayout> After searching through some other questions, I found these two: How to wrap content views rather than background drawable? Scale a Drawable or background image? Based on this, I created a FrameLayout w/ an ImageView showing the background. Unfortunately, I still can't get it to work. I want the height of the background image to shrink/expand w/ the size of the text views, but with the FrameLayout, the ImageView fits to the size of it's parent, and I can't find a way to make the parent fit to the size the text view layout. Here's my updated code: <FrameLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <ImageView android:src="@drawable/header" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:scaleType="fitXY" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/HeaderList" android:layout_gravity="top" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/NameText" android:text="John Doe" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:textSize="30sp" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:paddingLeft="4dp" android:paddingTop="4dp" /> <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:id="@+id/HoursText" android:text="170 hours" android:textSize="23sp" android:layout_below="@+id/NameText" android:paddingLeft="4dp" /> </RelativeLayout> </FrameLayout> Does anybody have any suggestions for how best to make an image scale to the size of the contents of some layout? I'm not concerned with the aspect ratio of the image, as it won't matter, I just want it to fill the background. Thanks!

  • UITableViewCellStyleDefault image size

  • Large margin by long title

    - by Kevin Koenen
    I try to show a list of offers. When an advertiser insert a large title, the margin of an item (offer) will be showed what shouldn't. I've tried different layouts but that doesn't work. Link to image :) You see, some of the items has a large margin. Here's the code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/gallerylayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left|center" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:paddingBottom="2dp" android:paddingTop="2dp" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:background="#20000000" android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/ic_launcher"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_id" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_img_url" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_title" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="3dp" android:gravity="left" android:textColor="#000000" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_km" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="3dp" android:layout_marginBottom="1dp" android:textColor="#000000" android:gravity="right"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="3dp" android:textColor="#0099CC" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="2dp" android:padding="5dp"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_clock" android:layout_width="20dp" android:layout_height="20dp" android:layout_marginRight="5dip" android:src="@drawable/icon_clock"/> <ProgressBar android:id="@+id/progressbar" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="8dp" android:layout_margin="5dp" android:paddingLeft="2dp" android:max="100" style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal" android:progressDrawable="@drawable/color_progressbar" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/overlay_image" android:background="#0000" android:src="@drawable/verlopen2x" android:layout_alignTop="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_alignBottom="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:visibility="visible" /> I can't see what i'm doing wrong.   • Android Drawable question.

    - by Tarmon
    Hey Everyone, I am trying to create a drawable in code and change the color based on some criteria. I can get it to work but it doesn't want to let me set the padding on the view. Any help would be appreciated. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ImageView android:id="@+id/icon" android:layout_width="50px" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/label" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingLeft="17px" android:textSize="28sp" /> ImageView icon = (ImageView) row.findViewById(R.id.icon); ShapeDrawable mDrawable; int x = 0; int y = 0; int width = 50; int height = 50; float[] outerR = new float[] { 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12 }; mDrawable = new ShapeDrawable(new RoundRectShape(outerR, null, null)); mDrawable.setBounds(x, y+height, x + width, y); switch(position){ case 0: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffff0000); //Red break; case 1: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffff0000); //Red break; case 2: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff00c000); //Green break; case 3: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff00c000); //Green break; case 4: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff0000ff); //Blue break; case 5: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff0000ff); //Blue break; case 6: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff696969); //Gray break; case 7: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff696969); //Gray break; case 8: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffffff00); //Yellow break; case 9: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff8b4513); //Brown break; case 10: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff8b4513); //Brown break; case 11: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xff8b4513); //Brown break; case 12: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffa020f0); //Purple break; case 13: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffff0000); //Red break; case 14: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffffd700); //Gold break; case 15: mDrawable.getPaint().setColor(0xffff6600); //Orange break; } icon.setBackgroundDrawable(mDrawable); icon.setPadding(5, 5, 5, 5); If I set the padding in XML it just ignores it.   • Sometimes UIImageView seems to reject the image taken with iPhone Camera

    - by maxbareis
    Hi, it is very strange, because this error doesn't happen all the time... I have the following code: - (IBAction)getPhoto:(id)sender { UIImagePickerController * picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; #if TARGET_IPHONE_SIMULATOR picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; #else picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; #endif [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; } with the corresponding delegated selector - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { UIImage *image = [[info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"] imageByScalingToSize:CGSizeMake(480, 320)]; [[self imageView] setImage:image]; [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } strange thing is, somtimes the image appears in imageView and sometimes not. I have called (gdb) po UIImagePNGRepresentation(image) right after setImage and stuffed the output into a file. The file is a perfect png. Has anyone experienced the same? Has anyone found a solution for it? Thanks in advance Max

  • Removing views from UIScrollView

    - by mohan
    I have two UIScrollViews that I move images between. The user can drag and forth between the scroll views. I am trying to animate the movement of the image from one scroll view to another. In -touchesMoved (handled in my UIViewController which has two custom UIScrollViews that intercept touch and sends to my UIViewController), I am trying to set the "center" of my UIImageView that is being moved. As it is moved, the image gets hidden behind the UIScrollView and not visible. How do I make it appear on top of the UIScrollView? I am able to handle the -touchesEnded properly by animating in the destination scroll view. I am also confused about -convertPoint:fromView: usage in the iPhone Programming Guide (See Chapter 3, Event Handling). If the touch coordinates are in window coordinates, to change my view (UIImageView inside a UIScrollView which is inside a UIView and inside a window) center don't I have to use -convertPoint:toView:, i.e., imageView.center = [self.view.window convertPoint:currentTouchPosition toView:imageView]; What am I missing?

  • Smartest way to draw 100+ images on screen

    - by Henrik
    Hello all, First of all I'm a newbie when it comes to Android programming. So if this question is totally stupid please delete it ASAP :-). Question: I'm going to draw a grid of 10x10 PNG images. Each image is 32x32 px. All of the images are unique. I'm thinking that the easiest way seems to be to put each image in an ImageView. If adding all ImageView's to the layout would this give me some kind of performance hit? Would there be any smarter way to draw these images? Thanks. / Henrik

  • current location too slow for view

    - by Christian
    Hi, I make an App with a Map in the App and a button to change to the google.Map-App. The code for my position is: -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { float avgAccuracy = (newLocation.verticalAccuracy + newLocation.horizontalAccuracy)/2.0; if (avgAccuracy < 500) { [locationManager stopUpdatingLocation]; locationManager.delegate = nil; } storedLocation = [newLocation coordinate]; The code for the view is: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed: @"LogoNavBar.png"]; UIImageView *imageview = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage: image]; UIBarButtonItem *button = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView: imageview]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = button; [imageview release]; [button release]; locationManager=[[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; locationManager.delegate = self; locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest; locationManager.distanceFilter = kCLDistanceFilterNone; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; mapView.showsUserLocation = YES; NSLog(@"storedLocation-latitude für MKregion: %f", storedLocation.latitude); MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = (storedLocation.latitude + 45.58058)/2.0; region.center.longitude = (storedLocation.longitude - 0.546835)/2.0; region.span.latitudeDelta = ABS(storedLocation.latitude - 45.58058); region.span.longitudeDelta = ABS(storedLocation.longitude + 0.546835); [mapView setRegion:region animated:TRUE]; MKCoordinateRegion hotel; hotel.center.latitude = 45.58058; hotel.center.longitude = -0.546835; HotelPositionMarker* marker = [[HotelPositionMarker alloc] initWithCoordinate:hotel.center]; [mapView addAnnotation:marker]; [marker release]; } My problem: when the "viewDidLoad" start, the "storedLocation" is still 0.0000 it takes a bit longer to get the own position than to start the view. The Log for the "storedLocation" in the "viewDidLoad"-section is 0 while the Log of the "storedLocation" in the "-(IBAction)" when the map is visible contains the right values. How can I manage it to have my coordinates before the view load? I need them to center the view concerning the own position and the position given by me. MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = (storedLocation.latitude + 45.58058)/2.0; region.center.longitude = (storedLocation.longitude - 0.546835)/2.0; region.span.latitudeDelta = ABS(storedLocation.latitude - 45.58058); region.span.longitudeDelta = ABS(storedLocation.longitude + 0.546835); [mapView setRegion:region animated:TRUE];

  • Reading Images only from Camera

    - by Ankit
    I wanted to read images only from the Camera folder of the device. Since the folder might be different for different devices, how can I write a simple application for it). So far I have written the following code, which does read from Camera folder, but it also reads from other places on sdcard as well. Cursor childCursor = managedQuery(MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI, MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns._ID, null); do { ImageView image = new ImageView(); image.setImageURI(Uri.withAppendedPath(MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI, ""+ childCursor.getString( childCursor.getColumnIndex( MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns._ID ))); <some other code> } while (childCursor.moveToNext()); How can I create a generic app and filter on Camera Images before displaying. Any help is appreciated.

  • Positioning elements outside an Activity on Android

    - by Aleksander Kmetec
    Is there a way to absolutely position an UI element on Android so that it is located outside an Activity? For example: can you create a fullscreen ImageView simply by moving/resizing an ImageView inside an existing regular Activity instead of creating a new fullscreen activity? EDIT: Re-reading my question I see I wasn't very clear about what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd like to temporarily extend an element to cover the notification bar at the top of the screen. I need to create a semitranslucent fullscreen overlay but since translucent activities cannot cover the notification bar I'm trying to find out if it's possible for an element to break out of activity's bounds and resize itself to fill the whole screen, top to bottom.

  • Scrolling RelativeLayout- white border over part of the content

    - by Tanis.7x
    I have a fairly simply Fragment that adds a handful of colored ImageViews to a RelativeLayout. There are more images than can fit on screen, so I implemented some custom scrolling. However, When I scroll around, I see that there is an approximately 90dp white border overlapping part of the content right where the edges of the screen are before I scroll. It is obvious that the ImageViews are still being created and drawn properly, but they are being covered up. How do I get rid of this? I have tried: Changing both the RelativeLayout and FrameLayout to WRAP_CONTENT, FILL_PARENT, MATCH_PARENT, and a few combinations of those. Setting the padding and margins of both layouts to 0dp. Example: Fragment: public class MyFrag extends Fragment implements OnTouchListener { int currentX; int currentY; RelativeLayout container; final int[] colors = {Color.BLACK, Color.RED, Color.BLUE}; @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup fragContainer, Bundle savedInstanceState) { return inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_myfrag, null); } @Override public void onActivityCreated(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onActivityCreated(savedInstanceState); container = (RelativeLayout) getView().findViewById(R.id.container); container.setOnTouchListener(this); // Temp- Add a bunch of images to test scrolling for(int i=0; i<1500; i+=100) { for (int j=0; j<1500; j+=100) { int color = colors[(i+j)%3]; ImageView image = new ImageView(getActivity()); image.setScaleType(ImageView.ScaleType.CENTER); image.setBackgroundColor(color); LayoutParams lp = new RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(100, 100); lp.setMargins(i, j, 0, 0); image.setLayoutParams(lp); container.addView(image); } } } @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { switch (event.getAction()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: { currentX = (int) event.getRawX(); currentY = (int) event.getRawY(); break; } case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: { int x2 = (int) event.getRawX(); int y2 = (int) event.getRawY(); container.scrollBy(currentX - x2 , currentY - y2); currentX = x2; currentY = y2; break; } case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: { break; } } return true; } } XML: <FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" tools:context=".FloorPlanFrag"> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/container" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> </FrameLayout>

  • Changing backgroundcolor in listview (expandable listview)

    - by Stofke
    I'm trying to dynamically change a backgroundcolor in a part of a listview, I have on example that works fine in a listview when I try to replicate it in another part with an expandable listview it fails This piece of code works and displays a different color if a student is online or not ... map.put(KEY_FIRSTNAME, temp.firstName); map.put(KEY_NAME, temp.name); map.put(KEY_EMAIL, temp.email); map.put(KEY_ISONLINE, temp.isOnLine); // change image if student is online or not Log.d("demo", "is on line= " + temp.isOnLine); if (temp.isOnLine.equalsIgnoreCase("1")) { map.put(KEY_IMAGE_ISONLINE, R.color.greenColor); } else { map.put(KEY_IMAGE_ISONLINE, R.color.greyColor); } listItem.add(map); } myListView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.listViewTabLeerlingen); SimpleAdapter adapter = new SimpleAdapter(StudentTab.this, listItem, R.layout.list_item_student, new String[] { KEY_FIRSTNAME, KEY_NAME, KEY_IMAGE_ISONLINE }, new int[] { R.id.firstNameTextView, R.id.lastNameTextView, R.id.logo }); myListView.setAdapter(adapter); the xml that goes along with it <ImageView android:id="@+id/logo" android:layout_width="85dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="@color/greenColor" android:contentDescription="Image if student is online or not" android:src="@drawable/transparent_pixel" /> The above works fine however the following code (just part of the code) ... ArrayList<Map<String, Object>> children = new ArrayList<Map<String, Object>>(); for (int i = 0; i < _data.length(); i++) { try { JSONArray tmp = _data.getJSONArray(i); HashMap<String, Object> map = new HashMap<String, Object>(); // change image if student is online or not if (tmp.getString(3).equalsIgnoreCase("0")) { map.put(KEY_POINTS,R.color.redColor); }else{ map.put(KEY_POINTS,R.color.greenColor); } map.put(KEY_QUESTIONTEXT, tmp.getString(1)); map.put(KEY_ANSWER, tmp.getString(2)); children.add(map); } catch (JSONException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } childData.add(children); ... ... ArrayList<ArrayList<Map<String, Object>>> childData) { SimpleExpandableListAdapter listAdapter = new SimpleExpandableListAdapter( this, groupData, R.layout.list_item_results_students, new String[] { KEY_FIRSTNAME, KEY_NAME, KEY_ISJUIST }, new int[] { R.id.firstnameResults, R.id.nameResults, R.id.resultsTextView }, childData, R.layout.list_item_results_results, new String[] { KEY_QUESTIONTEXT, KEY_ANSWER, KEY_POINTS }, new int[] { R.id.questionTextView, R.id.answerTextTextView, R.id.score }); ExpandableListView myListView = (ExpandableListView) findViewById(R.id.listViewTabResultaten); myListView.setAdapter(listAdapter); with xml: <ImageView android:id="@+id/score" android:layout_width="16dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="@color/greenColor" android:contentDescription="Image if student has correct answer" android:src="@drawable/transparent_pixel" /> I will get this error: 06-09 10:35:21.490: E/AndroidRuntime(4406): java.lang.ClassCastException: android.widget.ImageView cannot be cast to android.widget.TextView

  • Draw and move animation from xml in android

    - by Muahammad Yousuf Saif
    What I want to do: I want to draw image from xml and then animate it from xml. this image should move with constant speed anywhere on our screen. Now the problem is: I can draw and animate image from xml but i can not move this image with constant speed. I am using two xml files: One for animate and other for moving. XML for animation: android:duration="200"/ XML file for move: <translate android:interpolator="@android:anim/linear_interpolator" android:fromXDelta="2%" android:toXDelta="400%" android:fromYDelta="2%" android:toYDelta="800%"/> Activity.java file code in onCreate() method: ImageView rocketImage = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.rocket_image); Animation hyperspaceJump = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this, R.anim.hyperspace_jump); rocketImage.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.rocket_thrust); AnimationDrawable rocketAnimation = (AnimationDrawable) rocketImage.getBackground(); rocketAnimation.start(); rocketImage.startAnimation(hyperspaceJump);

  • LinearLayout as custom button, OnClickListener never called

    - by ohra
    I've been using the common Android Button with both icon (drawableTop) and text. It works really poorly if you want to have a non-standard size button, so I decided to make a custom button with a LinearLayout having the following layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@style/ButtonHoloDark" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:gravity="center" android:clickable="true" android:focusable="true" android:orientation="vertical" > <ImageView android:id="@+id/buttonIcon" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/buttonText" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" android:gravity="center" android:textColor="@color/white" /> </LinearLayout> The layout is used by a custom class: public class CustomIconButton extends LinearLayout { public CustomIconButton(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); setAttributes(context, attrs); LayoutInflater.from(context).inflate(R.layout.custom_icon_button, this, true); } ... But when I set an OnClickListener on my button in its parent layout it never gets called. I can only receive clicks if a set the listener to the ImageView and/or TextView. This leads to two possible effects when the button is clicked: The click is inside the ImageView or the TextView. The click is registered ok, but the buttons state drawable doesn't change i.e. it doesn't appear depressed. The click is inside the "empty area" of the button. The click is not registered, but the state drawable works ok. Neither of these is feasible. I've played around with the following attributes on the LinearLayout or its children, but none really seem to have any effect whether true or false: duplicateParentState clickable focusable There doesn't seem to be any reasonable way to get the LinearLayout parent receive clicks instead of its children. I've seen some possible solutions overriding dispatchTouchEvent or onInterceptTouchEvent on the custom component itself, but that really seems like a big mess if I have to start analyzing touch events to identify proper clicks. So OnClickListener on a LinearLayout with children = no go?

  • Adding image to navigation bar

    - by 4thSpace
    I'd like an image to take up all of a navigation bar. This is the navigation that comes with a navigation based app. It appears on the RootViewController with the accompanying UITableView. I've seen some examples of how this might work. Set navigation bar title: UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"TableviewCellLightBlue.png"]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; [self.navigationController.navigationBar.topItem setTitleView:imageView]; The problem there is it only covers the title rather than the entire navigation bar. There is also this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9254241#9254241. Towards the end, the solution looks to use a tab bar, which I'm not using. It is that complicated to set a navigation bar background? Is there some other simpler technique? I'd like to have a background for the navigation and still be able to use title text.
