• unity player doesnt support my ubuntu so i cant play battalstar gallactica [closed]

  ive been trying to install the unity player that supports battlestar gallactica online at big point.com /but then it is saying that my system (ubuntu) is not supported isnt there a patch by now because the game has been on for years now and there has been many people that i know running ubuntu who has the same difficulty ! also is there another program that would work with ubuntu and battlestar gallactica online?? there has to be a fix or ill just have to uninstall ubuntu/which is my next question how do i do that ??where is the control panel that allows you to uninstall programs within ubunty thank you very much for any support or advice [email protected]

• SOA Patterns book &ndash; your opinion needed

  It has been quite awhile since I added anything new to the book. I have my reasons (some would probably say excuses :) ) mainly that finding the energy and time to write is very hard with a wife, 3 kids and a startup. • 12.10 live dvd no video input

  Hi I have been trying install Ubuntu 12.10, but as soon as it gets past my bios and to the screen with the blinking line in the top left, I get a no video input message on my tv (like when you turn the tv on with nothing connected). I have used live dvd's of both betas, alphas and daily build all with exactly the same results. Has any one else had this ? Is there a fix ? Dose this mean I can never upgrade my Ubuntu again ? (12.04 works ive been using since beta) My pc ,while old, should run this fine CPU = 2x Intel P4 HT @ 3ghz GPU = Nvidia Geforce 310 via HDMI RAM = 2 Gb DDR 2 HDD = 2 x 7200 rpm SATA Please help me I use Ubuntu exclusively on my pc and would like to keep doings so.

  Ive been trying to learn asp.net from reading "beginning asp.net 4 with c#" and been finding it hard to get a solid grasp on the code involved. I plan to go to tafe sometime next year to get my diploma but want to start myself. instead of learning asp.net as a whole and all the languages involved such as c#, html css and javascript etc etc. I'm starting to think a solid understanding of at lest one of these might be beneficial I have "Beginning C# Object-Oriented Programming - Clark - Apress, is it worth learning about the languages before I go head first into a ide?.

• 'unknown filesystem' grub rescue prompt; trying to wipe drive and boot 10.10 live

  Im currently running Win7, and want to wipe the drive and install 10.10. I have 10.10 loaded on a USB thumbdrive and it sees the device in BIOS but it only reaches a screen saying; Unknown Filesystem grub rescue> Ive read several results from google and a couple here where people are trying to dual boot and i assume save the data on the drive, but i dont care about doing that, and would prefer to just wipe the drive and start fresh. What steps can i take to get the drive to a point where i can load 10.10 live and get it installed?

• Remove ubuntu and install windows 8 on ultrabook

  My computer (ultraboook : HP Envy 4 ) wont find the bootable windows usb. Unless its a ubuntu usb it wont show in boot selection (F9). I installed ubnutu as the one and only OS, and now i want to install windows as the only OS. The only problm is that my computer wont boot from the bootable usb. I think it has something to do with the boot settings that ubuntu has made to my computer.... I really need an answare as soon as possible, please help. Ive created a bootable windows usb in both windows and ubunut, and it still wont boot from the bootable usb, i also have a 300gb NTFS partition at the beginning of the harddrive, and it still wont boot into windows. I have a 32gb SSD and 500 gb SATA-HDD How can i get the system to recognize the bootable USB?

• mail server crash

  i have a mail server running ubuntu 12.04. my server has a main 200gb hdd as the /, and other scsi hdd. as far as i recall, i used the 5 scsi harddrives for different mount points.. 1 hard drive is /swap, 1 hard drive is /usr ...the other is /boot, i cant recall the other 2.. just yesterday, my /usr drive died... and it wont let me boot into the server.. ive tried to skip mounting the /usr with the S option when i go to recovery drive, but the server still wont boot up. i need help badly because the server needs to be up and running ASAP. thank you for all the help.

• New hard drive means re-install everything

  I recently found a good deal on a 7200 RPM 500GB latpop drive and decided to upgrade myself to that. Ive been operating on a 150GB drive for a long time and hadnt been cleaning up old projects, encodings, etc. so it was running thin on space. This was a cheap upgrade (< $90) so I opted for it. I finally got a moment last evening to pop it in and start the fresh installs of everything. Doing so reminded me of how long this process takes for us geeky people.   having problems with my new lenovo x230 - using dual montiors, only vga registers anything. This has the Intel graphics controller : 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Ivy Bridge Graphics Controller (rev 09) TO get it to even boot, had to add the nomodeset parameter to the kernel. Otherwise will not even start up X Ive upgraded my kernel to the latest 3.6 with no difference. The display section reads the monitor as the only display and labels it as laptop. Cant seem to get it to work! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Converting MOD files to quicktime or mpeg for adobe premiere pro

  Ive been Editing lots of videos lately. My company got a video camera: Canon Legria FS200. It saves the movies in a digital format as MOD files. Unfortunately, Adobe Premiere doesnt work with these files. I needed software to convert MOD files to QuickTime or mpeg files. I found a good free one : Its called Mpeg StreamClip:  It works well. and its pretty fast. And its Free. • Ubercart for 'serious' ecommerce?

  Im big Drupal fan, and some very high profile sites use Drupal which also suggests that its a good system. Can the same be said for Ubercart? Ive used it for some small e commerce sites purely because I know Drupal. It seems to lack some basic features and also relies on javascript. I dont know of any high profile e commerce sites using it. My productivity would take a big hit if I had to learn a new e commerce platform and also if I couldn't use my favorite CMS with it, but do I have a choice? If not I guess I can hope that Drupal 7's Commerce module will be an improvement. Thanks

• Graphical Mode breaks after suspend/ returning from Console

  When I try to go to a virtual console (ctrl alt f1) and return to f7, my screen freaks out. Its black with frequent white 'lightning bolts' flashing across the screen. Nothing works, but to force shutdown. Same when trying to resume from suspend. This doesnt happen every time, but very often. I dont know what information might be useful but: Ubuntu 12.10 ATI RS880M [Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series] Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880 this line in xsession-errors might be pertinent: (gnome-settings-daemon:1825): color-plugin-WARNING **: Done switch to new account, reload devices p.s. Ive tried the fglrx drivers but need the legacy drivers as described here, but nothing past a black screen.

• Test Driven Development Code Order

  I am developing my first project using test driven development. I am using Zend Framework and PHPUnit. Currently my project is at 100% code coverage but I am not sure I understand in what order I am supposed to write my code. Am I supposed to write my test FIRST with what my objects are expected to do or write my objects and then test them? Ive been working on completing a controller/model and then writing at test for it but I am not sure this is what TDD is about? Any advice? For example, I wrote my Auth plugin and my Auth controller and tested that they work properly in my browser, and then I sat down to write the tests for them, which proved that there were some logical errors in the code that did work in the browser.

  First of all, I've tried to install adobe air on ubuntu 13.10 64-bit without any success (yes, I've read the posts here, but none of them have helped (it's always some dependency that says "but it wont be installed"). Then I decided to try running it thru wine. Installed adobe air with no problems. Now the tricky part - how do I run it ? Adobe Air has only exes' to update itself, and the minerva has and .air extension. Ive tried even something like rundll32 Adobe Air.dll (with no success of course).

• Programming for Digital frames

  A project has recently come to my attention but i have no idea where to start or even if its possible. The idea revolves around programming a clock that is displayed inside a digital photo frame. The user would then be able to put different pictures corresponding to different times inside a usb pen for example, which would load as soon as you put the usb in. The project itself would be a really neat project - if it was just on a computer. I have no idea if what im talking about it even possible on a digital photo frame and if it is what language? Anyone who has any input at all would be great. My current idea is to maybe have a small device at the back, SSD, that runs the program through a screen, completely by passing standard digital photo frames, again though i dont know how to begin with this. And yes ive tried google (although it helps to know what to google).

• Virtual box doesnt have files machine and help tab

  this is the second time im asking this question because someone had to close my question for a reason which i still dont understand. this is the original question Why is my files,machine,help tab missing in ubuntu 11.10? Most importantly ,i cannot access the machine menu that should be there but isnt. im using ubuntu 11.10 with oracle 4.1.10 heres a picture of what ubuntu should look like,or maybe i am wrong, http://i.stack.imgur.com/JgM5S.png The reason why im asking,is because id like to run a usb key inside my virtual box,but since i cannot access machine,i cant access the devices manager either. • How do I remove Ubuntu from a dual-boot Windows 7 laptop?

  Im new to Ubuntu and liked it a lot! however after testing it on my old crappy laptop i now want to remove it. Ive looked at tutorials on how to uninstall and it says to start by deleting the linux partition of the hard drive.however after opening Computer management, I cannot locate my linux partition. same as when I go to System Configuration, and click on the "boot" tab, my computer does not list any operating system other than Windows 7. Any Way around this or perhaps a different way to uninstall?
