    Some files (e.g. nfs, nfslock, bind) in my /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory have in their comment header a line such as: # probe: true I found that those particular scripts has the probe verb i.e.: service nfs probe But this is due to the fact that the mentioned scripts has code that deals with the probe verb. I find no mention of the # probe: true notation in chkconfig man page, nor in any related man pages. Googleing for it also didn't help. Is there a real significance for that line, or is it pure documentation?

  • Can Windows-Security-SPP block execution of .exe?

    We're seeing a strange situation, where some executables won't run from a Windows command prompt (running as admin). Just running the command (say, filename.exe) gives no response on the console. No errors, no output, nothing. If we copy over the same Windows .exe from a different folder, it "magically" starts working, and we see the default console output. (Happens both on Win7 x64, and Win2008R2 x64. Application is running as 32-bit process.) At the time when it accesses the .exe, I can see events in the application and system logs regarding Windows-Security-SPP, and it makes me believe that the .exe is being blocked from execution. Does this sound familiar?

  • Windows XP: GNU find.exe moved my files and now they're lost

    I used a series of GNU find.exe commands to move media files to the current folder. Explorer show that the folders and files still exist in their original location but properties show zero size and files. I performed a chkdisk and that didnt help. Any ideas how to recover these files?   • Embedded video is not shown in internet explorer 9 RC or Beta

    In IE 9 RC or in beta, the embedded video is not shown in the web page. I verified the security settings in "internet options". Did not find any issue. Please find the screen shot below. I am able to view the flash videos in Youtube. But, for some reason, in some sites the embedded video is not shown. I don't have this issue with firefox. UPDATE: I am able to see view the embedded video in Admin account. But not able to view it in Standard account.

    I've just found that my WSS 3.0 server had two OWSTIMER.EXE services running: SharePoint Timer Service v11 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\BIN\OWSTIMER.EXE" Windows SharePoint Services Timer v12 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\BIN\OWSTIMER.EXE" Since I'm running WSS v3, I was expecting to have only one SharePoint Timer instance, and that should be the one in th "12" folder. Should I just stop the other service and keep only the "Windows SharePoint Services Timer" (v12) running?

  • windows 7 64bit rc with SSD saving problem

    Hi All, I have this problem where, in any application, 95% of the time when i try to save it pops up with a "Save As" dialogue. And if i try to select the original file i get an error popup "The operation could not be completed". I have Windows 7 RC 64bit with a X-25M SSD. I have upgraded the firmware for the SSD just in case and still the problem persists. Has anyone come across this before or know the problem? Or is there some indication i should be looking for in the event logs? Thanks

When I am opening a part or diagram in Catia along with CNEXT .exe (catia service) wisptis.exe is starting and making the system halt and Catia will crash. So I need to restart the worksation or I need to close all applications then I need to open catia then again the same problem. So please tell me how to avoid this or stop the wisptis.exe service. If I want to work on catia I need to kill wisptis.exe service otherwise I cant work.

  • bash code in rc.local not excuting after bootup

    Does anyone know why a system would not execute the script code within rc.local on bootup? I have a post configuration bash script that I want to run after the initial install of VMware ESX (Red Hat), and for some reason it doesn't seem to execute. I have the setup to log its start of execution and even its progress so that I can see how far it gets in case it fails at some point, but even when I look at that log, I am finding that didn't even started the execution of the script code. I already checked to see that script has execution permissions (755), what else should I be looking at?   • apache generating to many rotatelogs.exe on Windows?

    I'm seeing some odd behavior with Apache's rotatelogs.exe. On one of my servers I'm seeing multiple rotatelogs.exe counting into the 100's. Normally I usually only see 6 which I can rationalize to the 3 logs I have rotating. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how I can prevent it from happening. When the rotatelogs.exe processes get up into the 100's everything slows down and Apache is effectively shutdown because it can't process requests anymore.     I am using Rasbian on my newly arrived Rasp.Pi, and decided to make it my own proxy server. Now I need to set up a ssh tunnel on the Pi to my Linode server, and make it auto start with the system. What did I do: Add this line to /etc/rc.local autossh -f theRemoteServer -N -D 5555 -L 1234:localhost:22 After I reboot, I found out that I can't use the localhost:5555 as a socks proxy. So I type the command ps -A | grep ssh then I can see the autossh and ssh all running: pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ps -A | grep ssh 2018 ? 00:00:00 sshd 2116 ? 00:00:00 autossh 2119 ? 00:00:00 sshd 2195 ? 00:00:00 sshd 3173 ? 00:00:00 ssh (I've installed autossh, and the command works if I type it manually.)   • Very fast Laptop Heating due to very high CPU usage by dwm.exe

    My laptop gets heated very fast and when I check the task manager, I find dwm.exe consuming very high CPU (mostly 100%). In the beginning I found the message "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered".Also I am getting one error message "Cidaemon.exe has stopped working" very frequently. During this period also, cpu usage is 100% which is consumed by dwm.exe. I have run ccleaner and Kingsoft PC doctor monitor to fix the register problem but the problem has not been solved. My display adaptor is : NVIDIA NVS 5200M. After the driver update, I am not getting "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered" but dwm.exe is still consuming 100% CPU one time in about 5 mins. Multiple restarts has not helped. Laptop Model: Dell Latitude E6430. Thanks in advance.

    This weekend I found my PC was possibly infected by some virus or spyware. There is one "svchost.exe -k netsvcs" in my task manager, and it is running under my user name, rather than SYSTEM accounts. There is already another same process with same command line options under SYSTEM account. This user account svchost.exe consistently consumes 50% CPU (1 of 2 cores of my CPU). In Process Explorer, I can see it is started by explorer.exe, instead of services.exe. However, I failed to find its real service dll place in registry or disk. Does anyone know how to find this malicious program?

  • php-cgi.exe Taking out server, multiple running

    I have been using ZendServer CE for over a year and have never had a problem. Recently, about a week or two ago I have found my server to be acting up and even causing RDP to be un-connectable. After some looking around I have 20, 25, 30+ php-cgi.exe running. With my IIS7 service starting with Windows once my server started all these php-cgi.exe would start running (even though the limit is 10) and I could not even connect to it. After disabling the Web Server as startup which stops php-cgi.exe from running the server runs flawless, like it always has. As soon as I run the web server all these odd issues start. I have a post over at Zend http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=41043&p=95133 where I was told to update my Zend install. After doing so this issue has not gone away. Even running 1 php-cgi.exe (somehow 2 start anyway) the server begins to go silly. The first issue I find myself with running php-cgi.exe is that Windows Services, weather be stock or using FireDaemon begin to lag, slow start, crash, etc. If anyone can help me with this I would GREATLY appreciate it. At this time I am forced to look for a alternative to running PHP other than cgi as it simply takes out the whole box. On another note, I run this same version of Zend on a similar server with no issues. Starting to think its a IIS issue. (UPDATE) Installed newest version of PHP, separate from Zend, same issue. Server Specs: Intel Xeon Quad w HT Nehlam Based 24GB DDR3 1333 2x1TB Raid Mirror OS 2x1TB Raid Mirror (Other) 4x2TB Raid 5 (Storage) Server 2008 R2

  • Ubuntu automatic logout whenever I execute exe files

    I have a problem. Here's the thing. There were 4 partitions in my hard drive: One for ubuntu root folder One for ubuntu home folder One for general stuffs like music, movies... And the last one for SWAP To install Windows 7, I resized partitions and moving the order of partitions by using GParted. I moved all of the ext formatted partitions to the left, so that means the spare space would be at the right. And I formatted that spare space in NTFS and install windows 7. After successfully installing windows 7, I used LiveUSB to fix grub. I installed Boot Repair and, with just one click, now I can dual boot ubuntu and windows 7. But, the point, because of changing the order of partitions, especially the partition consisting of home folder, I couldn't log in the ubuntu. I used recovery mode and changed file /etc/passwd. Everything almost got back to normal except one thing. The windows apps that I installed via wine don't work anymore. I run them via accessing menu Applications/Wine/Programs but nothing loads. One more thing, when I double click on exe files to run them, ubuntu suddenly log outs. Thank you for reading my post, it's quite long and my English is fairly poor.
