  • Best way to move a bunch of SQL Server 2005 tables to another Server?

    I've been looking for a way to move a bunch of tables, more than 40, to another server with all the data in them. I've looked around for scripts to generate inserts but so far I'd have to run them once for every table, then copy all the scripts over and then run them on the server. Seems like there is a better way. --Update-- My strategy for doing this may have been for naught. The end script, using MS SQL Server Publishing Wizard and Red Gates SQL Data Compare (excellent tool, btw) results in a file over 1GB. This makes my system plead for mercy and I'm not willing to risk crashing a clients server just opening the file to run it. I may have to rethink this whole thing and break down to just individual per table scripts. I'm not looking forward to that.

  • Why Does TFS Allow Orphaned Content and How Do I Get Rid of It?

    My TfsVersionControl database has grown to 40+ GB in size. We recently did a TFS Destroy on a folder tree that should have cleared up at least 10 GB but instead it seemed to have no effect. When I look at the tables in TfsVersionControl, I am first shocked to see that there are no foreign keys at all in the database. Running a few queries, I see that there is some orphaning going on: tbl_Content has 13.9 GB of records that don't have a related tbl_File record tbl_File and tbl_Content have 2.4 GB that don't have a related tbl_Namespace record The cleanup job seems to be running nightly (prc_DeleteUnusedContent) and running it against the database manually doesn't remove any orphans. I see in the log for the cleanup job that it failed on 3/16, which is the morning after I destroyed the large amount of data. The error was due to a full transaction log. Could that error be the reason I'm left with all this orphaned data that can't be deleted? How can I permanently destroy this unneeded content?

    I have 2 databases. One is properties and the other is dates. In dates I have associated the land_id and a date (In YYYYMMDD format) which means that the date is not available. I need to formulate a query that a user can specify a start and end date, and then choose a property for which dates are available (not in the date database). How do airline and hotel websites do this kind of logic? I was thinking about taking the date range and picking all days in between and doing a query where the dates do not match and ordering it by number of results, but I can see how that could easily turn into an intense query.     I've got a Visual C++/CLI app which uses beeps to signify good and bad results (used when the user can't see the screen). Currently I use low pitched beeps for bad results and high pitched beeps for good results: if( goodResult == true ) { Beep(1000, 40); } else { Beep(2000, 20); } This works okay on my Vista laptop, but I've tried it on other laptops and some seem to play the sounds for less time (they sound more like clicks than beeps) or the sound doesn't play at all. So I have two questions here: Is there a more reliable beep function? Is there a (simple) way I can play a short .wav file or something similar instead (preferred solution).

    So I just love it when my application is working great in Firefox, but then I open it in IE and... Nope, please try again. The issue I'm having is that I'm setting a CSS display property to either "none" or "table-cell" with JavaScript. I was initially using "display: block;", but Firefox was rending it weird without the table-cell property. I would love to do this without adding an hack in the JavaScript to test for IE.     I have an SQL query which returns a set of data (around 40-50 tuples). I would like to display the results 5 at a time on an HTML page using PHP. I already managed to have the right SELECT statement, but i am having problems to display the results 5 by 5 using a "more" button. Can you please help? Note that every time i call the query, the data is being randomized, so it is not possible to set limits and call the query again. I have to find the method to store the results somewhere, and then show them 5 by 5.

    Hello I've been tasked with doing a few queries on a large SQL Server 2000 database. The query I'm having trouble with is "find the number of people between ages 20 and 40" How would I do this? My previous query to get a count of everyone looks like this: select count(rid) from people where ... (with the ... being irrelevant conditions). I've googled some but the only thing I've found for calculating age is so large that I don't see how to embed it into a query, or it is a stored procedure which I do not have the permissions to create. Can someone help me with this?

  • Has anyone ever had OpenCV to work with Python on MacOS?

    I've been trying on and off for the past 6 months to get OpenCV to work with Python on MacOS. Every time there's a new release, I try again and fail. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit, and both the xcode gcc and gcc installed via macports. I just spend the past two days on it, hopeful that the latest OpenCV release, that appears to include Python support directly would work. It doesn't. I've also tried and failed to use this: http://code.google.com/p/pyopencv/ I've been using OpenCV with C++ or Microsoft C++/CLI for the past few years, but I'd love to use it with Python on a Mac because that is my primary development environment. I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually done this.

  • Breaking up large DataGridView for printing

    Hey, I've got a single-row, 40 column-long DataGridView that i need to print. Since i can neither print it directly (because A4 sheets won't cut it ;)) nor adjust its width to the width of the page itself (because the headers look terrible), i wanted to break the DataGridView to 4 separate pieces and display 10 columns per row (imagine: column 1 to 10 in the first line, column 11 to 21 four or five lines below, etc...). Is there an easy way to do this? I was leaning towards a more manual approach (using fors), but i'd love to know if there's a more elegant way. Cheers

  • Upload file from client machine to server - prepopulate file picker path?

    Hi, I'd like to upload a file from a client machine to my server. The user would have to specify the file to upload as I understand it, using a form that looks like: <input type="file" name="datafile" size="40"> This pops up a native file picker, which is great. The problem I'm having is that it's a real pain (for most users) to go looking around their machine for the file I'm interested in. Is there a way I can initialize the file picker with a path to make it more convenient for the user? Like I know some users will be on a windows machine, so I could prepopulate the picker by already sending them to the My Documents folder for example. I don't see how this is possible, just wondering if something like that exists, Thank you
