    I have replaced an NSTimer with a CADisplayLink. I have it working properly but it is running too slowly. How could I go about speeding this up? This is the code that I'm using: ViewController.h (In {} with @interface: CADisplayLink *displayLink; ViewController.m (viewDidLoad): displayLink = [CADisplayLink displayLinkWithTarget:self selector:@selector(onTimer)]; [displayLink addToRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSRunLoopCommonModes]; onTimer is the method that it is calling. So my question is how do I speed up how often this is being called? Thanks

  • MySQL: host name universal change.

    I am making some updates to a php site which I did not design. I have a local copy of the site. At the top of each page there are settings for the host name for the db connection. Is there someway I can setup a pointer to the remote address. The address is 'mysqlhost' for example and I want that to point to 'mysql.myhost.com'. I tried creating a HOST record for mysqlhost pointing to the IP address it resolves to but that doesn't work. If I put 'mysql.myhost.com' in the connection it works. If I put that IP address it doesn't so that is probably why the HOST record idea doesn't work. Other than creating a local copy of the DB is there a quick way so that I don't have to modify each file in my dev environment and then again when I redeploy?

    Hello, I need to rename all the files in a directory. Some examples of the source filenames are: alpha--sometext.381928 comp--moretext.7294058 The resultant files would be renamed as: alpha.sometext.381928 comp.moretext.7294058 The number of characters before and after the -- is not consistant. The script needs to work on current installations of Ubuntu and FreeBSD. These are lean LAMP servers so only the necessary packages have been installed. Thanks

  • Reloading Rails Directories on Change for Development, Not in Lib

    I have checked out several questions on this, including all of those you see next to the question. Unfortunately, I'm not working with a plugin, and I don't want to work in lib. I have a directory called File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') and I'd like the classes in this directory to reload automatically in dev. In my environment.rb I have this line config.load_paths << File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') which works fine and blows up if the path isn't there. The reloading line in my development.rb also works fine require_dependency File.join(Rails.root, 'classes', 'blah.rb') which blows up if the file is not there (a good sign). However, the file doesn't reload. This all works if the file is in the root of lib and I use the require_dependency line, but my whole point is to get stuff out of lib as suggested here.

  • SVN : how to change hostname?

    I'd like to sep up SVN repo on local machine. But we already have apache running under localhost. When I use instalator form subversion site with apache option it installs another apache and when I type "localhost" in browser I see this new apache (not the old one). Question is how to run this new apache under other host name. When installing it asks about it, so I set different name, but it still works under localhost (nothing happens). I'd like to have access to svn via URL e.g. "svnrepo" not "localhost". What can I do about it? Which lines of config should be changed (and/or what's more should be changed?) Another way I'm thinking of to solve this problem is to integrate this svn-apache module with mine apache. But still I don't really know how to do it (my apache is 2.2.6)

  • Navigation Bar color doesn't change back? iOS7

    I have several tableviews with navigation controller. The navigation bar is white for all the views except the last one, which is red. I have [[[self navigationController] navigationBar] setTintColor:[UIColor redColor]; in the viewDidLoad of the last tableview and [[[self navigationController] navigationBar] setTintColor:[UIColor whiteColor]; in the viewDidLoad of other table views. It works fine until I get to the last view and the color of the navigation bar changes to red. When I go back to the previous views, all the previous views' navigation bar has changed to red.     Essentially what I'm trying to do is sync a production server with a sandbox server, but only the table structures and stored procedures. The procedures aren't any problem since they can be overriden, but the problem is the tables. I want to sync and alter their structures on the production server using mysqldump (or any other way that you can propose) without altering any existing data. If it helps, I only want to add more columns, not remove any existing ones. Also, I am using mysqlyog. Is there any way to do this?

  • Why does the app signature change in Android after a classpath change?

    I have an Android project that branched into three different applications, app-1, app-2 and app-3, that apply some customizations. Currently there is a lot of code duplication, making maintenance a nightmare: do the changes in one of the branches, and then merge the other two. So we create a library project, named app-core, that factors out most of the duplicated code. So far so good. When I launch this into an emulator where the application was already loaded (before the refactoring), I get this exception: Re-installation failed due to different application signatures A different signature? But I just added a line in the .classpath to link to the app-core Java project! The main question is: are the existing users going to be bothered by this too? And the side question: Why is it a different signature?

    For interaction with a customer's application we use XML documents. That is, we send an XML over HTTP and receive a response XML document the same way. The customer specified two XML schemata that describe the format of both the request and reply. All was working fine, until one day the customer started to use CDATA sections in the response XML. We set up our parser unmindful of CDATA sections, so we failed to interpret them. My question is: Who made a mistake here? I tried to find an answer in the XML standards, but I'm still not sure. I think I cannot prescribe using or not using CDATA's in an XSD, is that right? If so, is it not enough to agree upon an XSD, but a separate agreement has to be made about CDATA sections? Or one is obliged to be prepared to parse CDATA and regular text as well? I'm interested in both your personal views and official statements too. Thank you!

    I'm working on a profile page, where a registered user can update their information. Because the user has already submitted their information, I would like their information from the database to populate my HTML form. Within PHP, I'm creating the HTML form with the values filled in. However, I've tried creating an IF statement to determine whether an option is selected as the default value. Right now, my website is giving me a default value of the last option, Undeclared. Therefore, I'm not sure if all IF statements are evaluation as true, or if it is simply skipping to selected=selected. But after i get the value via $formVal = $form->getValues(); the date value in $formVal["needDate"] become today's date (03/06/2010). I really don't understand, and after checking in the API documentation it says that the getValues will return the 'cleaned' value. Is that because of it ? I don't understand what's 'clean'.     So my co-worker felt it necessary to go onto my development box and do some code changes, then submit his work to subversion. I never set the commit message editor, and all of a sudden, one day I forgot to add the -m handle and apparently he set the default editor to emacs. Being that I don't know the first thing about emacs and prefer vim myself, how do I go about changing the default editor for svn commands to vim after it's already been set. I deleted the .subversion directory under the home directory, and it still prompts me.
