  • log4net - getting appenders specific to only one logger

    I'm looking for a way to get all appenders attached to one logger instance. I tried: Hierarchy hierarchy = LogManager.GetRepository() as Hierarchy; hierarchy.GetAppenders() as per documentation this returns all appenders for all loggers currently configured. When I try this: LogManager.GetLogger("MyLoggerName").Logger.Repository.GetAppenders(); I get the same result. I would like to retrieve only appenders attached to one logger ("MyLoggerName" in this case) Were am i wrong? Thank you.

  • Key logger wont record key strokes without console

    I created a small basic key logger in C++. For some reason when I compile and run the program with the console displayed, it will record every key stroke I make in whatever program I am using such as a browser and store it in a text file. However when I make it so that it WON'T display a console window, it will not record anything and it's just a process in the background doing nothing.     Is there any way to access the Windows Event Log from a java class. Has anyone written any APIs for this, and would there be any way to access the data from a remote machine? The scenario is: I run a process on a remote machine, from a controlling Java process. This remote process logs stuff to the Event Log, which I want to be able to see in the controlling process. Including 404s, both generated by my app or by spring because it didn't find an appropriate controller. I have already built the class and it works, it is something like this: class Logger { std::string _filename; public: void print(std::string tobeprinted); } Well, it is intuitive that, in order to print a line in the log file, for an object of Logger, it is simply necessary to do the following: Logger mylogger("myfile.log"); mylogger.print(std::string("This is a log line")); Well. Using a method approach is not the same as using a much better pattern like << is. I would like to do the following: Logger mylogger("myfile.log"); mylogger << "This is a log line"; That's all. I suppose I must overload the << operator... But overloading using this signature (the classic one): ostream& operator<<(ostream& output, const MyObj& o); But I do not have a ostream... So, should I do as follows? Logger& operator<<(Logger& output, const std::string& o); Is this the right way? Thanks

    I'm using sysklogd 1.5.5. All I want is to get local0 entries in /var/log/vr file. My conf: *.*;local0.none /var/log/messages local0.* /var/log/vr When I do logger -p local0.info "local0 test from logger" the message appear in /var/log/vr file. That's ok. But the following sends message to /var/log/messages instead of /var/log/vr: #include <stdlib.h> #include <syslog.h> int main(int argc, char const* argv[]) { openlog(NULL, LOG_PID, LOG_LOCAL0); syslog(LOG_INFO, "local0 test from app\n"); closelog(); return 0; } Where am I wrong?

  • Mac OS X: getting names of changed/written files

    I remember having a command line tool on an older Mac OS X version (Tiger?) that told me the name of every file that was written to (or read) by any process on the system. It used fseventd (? or something like that). Is there something like that for the newest Mac OS X (10.6)? It should be run in a terminal window and then I can use the system as normal. Let's say I type cat /etc/passwd, the output of that program would be similar to /bin/cat /etc/passwd I can't use lsof because I can't get the timing right. Is this clear or do you need more information?

    In visual basic, when in the "frmMain Events: Load", I get the following error The type initializer for 'projData.projDataModule' threw an exception. when running the code: var = 180 "var" is defined in projDataModule as Module projDataModule Public var As Double End Module When I rebuild the solution, It says "0 errors, 0 warnings" and will actually compile, however the Error list shows the following error: Error 1 Custom tool error: Failed to generate file: There is an error in XML document (1, 1). I:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Desktop\Projects\Data\My Project\Application.myapp 1 1 Data Any ideas or help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I want to install a logger so that I can dump all executed SQL of my rails application. Problem is, such logger is associated with AbstractAdapter which initialized very soon under test mode, and thus cannot be set by my initializer code. I try to put ActiveRecord::Base.logger = MyCustomLogger.new(STDOUT) in the end of environment.rb like someone advised but it only works when being run in console environment (kicked by script/console), not when run under test mode. I wonder if there is any way to config such logger so that I will sure to be invoked under any environment (test, development, production, console)

So I need to do two things. 1) How can I create a new log file each day? The log file will be have the name in a format like MMDDYYYY.txt 2) How can I create it just after midnight in case it is running into all hours of the night?

  • JavaScript library not working in IE, can't see error information.

    Hi there. I have been writing a JavaScript library for a few weeks now and it works brilliantly in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I had not tested it in IE until recently. I do not own a Windows box so after testing it on my friends and realising it wasnt working I started going over my code for things that could be causing it to break. So far I have found nothing. I could not find any descriptions of the errors in the browser while I was there either. So I wondered if anyone could run my test script in an IE browser (6, 7 or 8) and let me know any information they can find as to why it crashed. Please ignore any information saying it works in IE6, I put that up there after testing it through http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ I just assumed it was working because I could set transparency and size via my script and see it run in this tool. So if anyone could be kind enough to run it in IE and either let me know what errors they are getting and possibly how to fix them then I will be extreamly grateful. Thank you in advance.   • How to use the Zend_Log instance that was created using the Zend_Application_Resource_Log in a model

    Our Zend_Log is initialized by only adding the following lines to application.ini resources.log.stream.writerName = "Stream" resources.log.stream.writerParams.mode = "a" So Zend_Application_Resource_Log will create the instance for us. We are already able to access this instance in controllers via the following: public function getLog() { $bootstrap = $this->getInvokeArg('bootstrap'); //if (is_null($bootstrap)) return false; if (!$bootstrap->hasPluginResource('Log')) { return false; } $log = $bootstrap->getResource('Log'); return $log; } So far, so good. Now we want to use the same log instance in model classes, where we can not access the bootstrap. Our first idea was to register the very same Log instance in Zend_Registry to be able to use Zend_Registry::get('Zend_Log') everywhere we want: in our Bootstrap class: protected function _initLog() { if (!$this->hasPluginResource('Log')) { throw new Zend_Exception('Log not enabled'); } $log = $this->getResource('Log'); assert( $log != null); Zend_Registry::set('Zend_Log', $log); } Unfortunately this assertion fails == $log IS NULL --- but why?? It is clear that we could just initialize the Zend_Log manually during bootstrapping without using the automatism of Zend_Application_Resource_Log, so this kind of answers will not be accepted.

  • Database solution for 200million writes/day, monthly summarization queries

    Hello. I'm looking for help deciding on which database system to use. (I've been googling and reading for the past few hours; it now seems worthwhile to ask for help from someone with firsthand knowledge.) I need to log around 200 million rows (or more) per 8 hour workday to a database, then perform weekly/monthly/yearly summary queries on that data. The summary queries would be for collecting data for things like billing statements, eg. "How many transactions of type A did each user run this month?" (could be more complex, but that's the general idea). I can spread the database amongst several machines, as necessary, but I don't think I can take old data offline. I'll definitely need to be able to query a month's worth of data, maybe a year. These queries would be for my own use, and wouldn't need to be generated in real-time for an end-user (they could run overnight, if needed). Does anyone have any suggestions as to which databases would be a good fit? P.S. Cassandra looks like it would have no problem handling the writes, but what about the huge monthly table scans? Is anyone familiar with Cassandra/Hadoop MapReduce performance?

  • Cakephp: how do I know what route was used

    So I am a total cakephp newb and one of the first things I expected to see basic info about each page request logged. More specifically, what route data including what controller/method is being used. Obviously I did not find what I was expecting and about the only kind of meaning info I can find is from the apache logs. What I expected was to see something similar to first log entry for a rails app request. Does cakephp not log this kind of data?
