• One class per file rule in .NET?

  I follow this rule but some of my colleagues disagree with it and argue that if a class is smaller it can be left in the same file with other class(es). Another argument I hear all the time is "Even Microsoft don't do this, so why should we?" What's the general consensus on this? Are there cases where this should be avoided?

• How do I rename a process on Linux?

  I'm using Python, for what it's worth, but will accept answers in any applicable language. I've tried writing to /proc/$pid/cmdline, but that's a readonly file. I've tried assigning a new string to sys.argv[0], but that has no perceptible impact. Are there any other possibilities? My program is executing processes via os.system (equivalent to system(3)) so a general, *NIX-based solution using an additional spawning process would be fine.

  In QMainWindow I have 2 QSplitters. In that splitters I have QTextEdit, QLineEdits, QTableWinget, Ragio buttons and so on... I want to know if somthing has been chaged after pressing File-New menu button. Is there any general method for doing this? Somwhere I have read that it is recomended to use isWindowModified() function of QMainWindow, but seems it doesn't work.

  I am building a dashboard where I am iterating through a list of controls to render, and I need to initiate a general callback both after each control and after they are all completed. I was curious what the best way to handle this is. I can get the control specific callback fired off by placing myUserControlCallback(); in the user control itself. I'm just not sure how to run something like allControlsRendered();. Any ideas?

  Hello, Is there a way to declare a string variable in python such that everything inside of it is automatically escaped, or has its literal character value? I'm NOT asking how to escape the quotes with slashes, that's obvious. What I'm asking for is a general purpose way for making EVERYTHING in a string literal so that I don't have to manually go through and escape everything for very large strings.   I am trying to create a build definition, specified the build definition name inside the General tab, specified the trigger, the workspace, the build controller that I want to use, the drop folder as a network shared location, the retention policy but when I go to the Process tab I can't select anything. Does anyone knows why I can't select anything inside the Process tab, it looks like it is not enabled, can't press Show details because is not enabled. Thanks!

  What is the general meaning and where did it start to have variables with leading or trailing underscores? ex: _varName and varName_ I have always thought a leading underscore indicated the variable was a pointer but I don't know where I got this idea. Recently I have seen these naming conventions used in Java which makes that reasoning completely wrong.
