  I have an existing Exchange 2003 server running on Windows Server 2003. I am in the process of replacing our current server infrastructure and virtualizing it all in Hyper-V. I have Essential Business Server 2008 installed in 3 separate VMs and running. Everything seems to be working fine so far. I am now trying to migrate my exchange mailboxes over to the new exchange server in the messaging server and every time I try I get this error: MapiExceptionNetworkError: Unable to make admin interface connection to server. (hr=0x80040115, ec=-2147221227) I have done some searching and found solutions like adding the computer to the exchange domain servers groups and install group, also making sure the user logged into the new server is in the proper groups. I also saw a solution in making sure that any unused NICs are disabled. I've tried all that to no avail.

  I got several computers connected to my home wireless network and I want to make use of some of the features of Windows 7 for home networks but I can't seem to get them working: How do I keep files and folders in sync between specific computers? I'm not talking about Live Sync. How can I stream to Windows Media Player from another computer? I would appreciate if someone could provide me some links / solutions that address my needs. Thanks! To anyone who thinks this question is a duplicate and wants to close it please bare in mind the following: I'm not looking for additional software, I know I can use Live Sync, Dropbox and so on but I'm asking this: how do I configure Windows 7 to sync files between my home network - no Internet required! • How to add a local file to trusted zone in IE8?

  I want to add a file on my local drive (C:\something.html) to the Trusted Zone in IE8 (my OS is Windows Server 2003). The Add Sites Dialog box, does not seem to take entries for files on the local drive. I have tried: file://C:\something.html file:\\localhost\c$\something.html I have seen other solutions (on superuser and elsewhere) such Mark of Web, that allow your local file to be treated as if it were part of the internet zone, but I want to add my file to the Trusted Zone. How can I do this? Thanks.

• Microsoft Office documents collaboration - Open Source alternative

  I am looking for a good solution to collaborate on Microsoft Office documents, we currently just edit directly on a Samba share but it's one big mess because sometimes people leave the office with their laptops while docs are open so swap files remain there and then you nobody is sure what's going on. Is there any good and simple open source solution based on Linux? I've tried Alfresco but it is much more than what I need, we got an internal wiki for most collaboration and I just need some solution for the stuff we need to do in Microsoft Office (mostly Excel files, the rest is in the wiki) EDIT: Some more info as requested - we are very small group, 4 full time employees and a few freelancers. The best idea I've got so far is just managing it in a subversion repository with a Lock-Modify-Lock policy but I'd love to hear about better solutions. Thanks!

• Remove hardware from "safely remove hardware" list on Windows 7

  Hi, I have a USB wifi card (D-Link DWA-125) on a Windows 7 x64 computer. The problem is that the card appears on the "safely remove hardware" list, but I don't ever want to unplug it, so I would like to remove it from the list. So far I have only found solutions that mess with the registry (and don't really work properly) or that substitute the safely remove hardware with a third-party software. Or worse, hide the icon altogether. Yes, I do need the icon from USB drives and phones. So, is there a "clean" way to remove it from the list? Thanks.

• How to resolve 0xc000007b error opening Adobe After Effects?

  I have installed Adobe CS6 on Windows 8 and get the error "0xc000007b" every time I open open Adobe After Effects. All other Adobe software, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro, work perfectly. I have looked online extensively but have not found any solutions. What can I try/do to resolve this error? OS: Windows 8 (64 bit) - CPU: Intel Core i3-3110M 2,40GHz - RAM: 6GB DD3 - FX: AMD Radeon HD 7670M When I open Adobe After Effects CS6 with Dependency Walker, this message appears : "Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module. What can I do to resolve this error?

• Troubleshooting PXE-E11: ARP Timeout error under VMware ESXi 4 and HPSA 7.8

  I am running HP Server Automation v7.8 in a lab environment on VMware ESXi, managed via vSphere 4. On the same host I have several small VMs for OS provisioning testing (512MB RAM, 10GB hdd, one NIC on the same vSwitch that HPSA is running on). DHCP is configured to hand-out addresses in the 192.168.10.151-200 range. On boot of the VM, it receives an IP (eg 192.168.10.198) within seconds. However, after it receives its IP, a PXE-E11: ARP Timeout error occurs in trying to boot from the DHCP server. I do not know if this is a HPSA-specific error, as I have seen reports of the PXE-E11 error on various forums. Proposed solutions I have seen so far (changing VLAN settings, for example) have not been applicable to my environment. Are there any pointers/troubleshooting steps that can be taken to resolve this?

• Register a dll in Windows Server 2003

  I'm trying to register some DLLs for a particular application but having some problems. The DLLs are stored in the application folder in the D: drive. I run cmd.exe, go to the D: drive and run regsvr32, but it gives me the error: "The was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered." After searching for other solutions, I also tried copying the DLLs into the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and running regsvr32 directly there but that didn't work either. It gave me the same error. I'm not very familiar with Windows Administration, so I may need detailed instructions/explanations. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

  Hey Folks -- our company is encountering the same recurring problem - email deliverability. A lot of our emails are still getting trapped in yahoo and gmail spam filters. We followed yahoo's best practices guide as well as tips Ive found on serverfault. (setting up DKIM, SPF) And even took the Email Server Test (http://www.allaboutspam.com/email-server-test/) Now my question is: has anyone had success using whitelist solutions like goodmail or EmailReach? Alternatively, Im beginning to think that going with a email delivery service like Mailchimp will save me the headache and future stress of managing our email lists. So whitelist solution or just fork up the money and send via an email delivery service? Thanks!

• .htaccess Permission denied. Unable to check htaccess file

  Hi, I have a strange problem when adding a sub-domain to our virtual server. I have done similar sub-domains before and they have worked fine. When I try to access the sub-domain I get an 403 Forbidden error. I checked the error logs and have the following error: pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable I've searched Google and could only find solutions regarding file and folder permissions, that I have checked and the solution isn't solved. I also saw problems with Frontpage Extensions, but that's not installed on the server. Edit Forgot to say that there isn't a .htaccess file in the directory of the sub-domain

• Managed hosting firewall vs managing own firewall

  I posted on stackoverflow as to the overall benefits of managed hosting vs non-managed hosting. The more I think about it, it seems to boil down to one question: should I use a managed host because they take care of the firewall, or would I be okay managing my own, software firewall? The sites on the box do get quite a lot of traffic but as for throughput and what-not, it's not something I know much about. Ideally, i'd take my sites over to a Linode stack and manage incoming connections using iptables or an alternative. Here are some example hardware solutions a managed host would provide: Cisco Pix 501, Pix 506, Pix 515 and ASA 5505 and ASA 5510 Firewalls, configurable in a control panel the likes of an enterprise firewall such as FortiGate 110C Aside from this, I do not need managed hosting, so I appreciate your suggestions.

• Windows7 and Virtual PC guest copy/paste intermittent delay

  I've been using Virtual PC for some time now and have not had any issues with copy and paste until I upgraded my host to Windows7 64-bit. After the upgrade sometimes when I copy and paste some text there is like a 15-20 second delay before it completes, this is very frustrating when I'm trying to get my work done. The problem seems to be intermittent in nature, it seems to occur when I have not done a copy paste for a while. After the delay occurs copy and paste seem to work at normal speed until I don't copy and paste for a good length of time. My question is, is there any solutions or patches that can fix this copy/paste issue for virtual PC running in a 64-bit windows7 host?

• Plugging in USB flash drive only shows error 43, "Unknown device"

  My friend saved by his works onto my flash drive which was detectable/openable, but ... The very next day, the drive wouldn't show up in My Computer and Windows gave him error code 43 (Unknown device). I tried others few systems that once detected his flash drive but the problem still persisted. I don't know whether or not his flash drive is damaged but when plug/un-plugging, there are still sounds coming out though. Tried solutions: On Vista Home Premium (his computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Re-installed (ERROR 43) On Windows 7 (my computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Can't install (ERROR 43) It seems that my computer (Windows 7) had the lastest drivers already but still can't detect it. Its a Kingston DataTraveller 101 (DT101) 8GB. Could unplugging the flash drive without clicking "Safely Remove Hardware" have caused the problem?

• Is there a good dual monitor arm solution for iMac 27" i7s?

  I currently have an iMac 27" and am considering purchasing another to run in target display mode. My desk space is a little limited. Is there a dual monitor arm solution that can support the weight of two iMac 27" units (30.5 pounds (13.8 kg)) as well as their width (25.6 inches (65.0 cm)) in a side-by-side landscape configuration? I looked at the Ergotron LX Dual Side by Side but the iMacs appear to exceed the width and weight limit this device is rated for. I'm open to alternate solutions to arms, such as a multi-unit desk stand/mount, but a wall mount is not possible for me at this time. Thanks!

• Network Scanning: HP Laserjet 2840 & Windows 7 (+ Linux?)

  I own a HP Laserjet 2840 multifunction printer. It's a fabulous device, but on Windows 7 it can't network scan. HP doesn't seem to support it in anything greater than Vista, and they aren't forth coming with solutions. I'm curious if anyone else has gotten work arounds to this problem. One possible avenue for me is that I have an always-on Gentoo server that is configured to see the printer as a fax and printer using hplip. I have this shared via samba and I can print just fine through samba. Is there a similar way I can do network scanning? Anyone know of where I start looking for this?

• Error "403 Forbidden" on Sharepoint Search Settings Page

  Hello I thought I had solved this nightmare by re-entering the values in my SSP properties set up, however accessing the Search Settings page error has reared it ugly head again. • Can an installation of SSRS be used for other reports if the SCOM Reporting Role is installed?

  I'm currently in the process of planing a SCOM 2007 R2 deployment and would like to deploy the OperationsManagerDW and Reporting Server to a shared SQL 2008 cluster which is used for reporting across multiple solutions. However in the in the deployment guide for SCOM 2007 R2 it says: Due to changes that the Operations Manager 2007 Reporting component makes to SQL Server Reporting Services security, no other applications that make use of SQL Server Reporting Services can be installed on this server. Which concerns me that it may interfere with existing or future (non SCOM) reports in some way even if deployed as a separate SSRS instance. Later in the same guide it states: Installing Operations Manager 2007 Reporting Services integrates the security of the instance of SQL Reporting Services with the Operations Manager role-based security. Do not install any other Reporting Services applications in this same instance of SQL Server. Does this mean that I can install a new SSRS instance and use this on the shared cluster for SCOM reporting or that I'd also need to create a whole new SQL Server instance as well as SSRS instance or I'd need a whole separate server for SCOM OperationsManagerDW and Reporitng Server?

  Is there an easy way to add chapters to existing movie files? Note: Actually, I’m not 100% sure if they’re called “chapters” in video files, but it’s the same concept as DVDs. I assume this differs with the video encoding, but any help at all is progress! I have video files in various formats (although .mov, .mp4, and .m4v are my most common). I’m on Mac OS X, but I posted here (instead of the Apple Q&A) because I figured any answers may be useful to other non-Apple power users. Apple-native, application-based solutions preferred (usability is top of my list). However, command-line programs and utilities that do the job are just as welcome. • Winbind group lookup painfully slow

  I am running winbind on an RHEL 6 system. Everything works fine except group lookups, so many commands (including sudo) are painfully slow. I did an strace which shows that winbind looks up every group and every user within each group for the current user. Some of these groups have 20000+ users so a simple sudo can take 60 seconds to complete. I really only care about speeding up the sudo command. Ideal solutions would make it so either: groups with more than X number of users will not be looked up, or sudo bypasses group lookups altogether.   Can anyone recommend an iPhone app, for non-jailbroken devices, that can be used to remotely control Windows (7, if it matters) Media Center from outside the home WiFi network? The objective is to be able to connect to the Media Center box during the day when I am not home.   I'm developing software for tablet pcs and so far I've used some lenovo's (x41), some toshiba's (portege m200) and some gateways (M275). Granted: the machines we've gotten have predominantly been refurbs, but they're failing 80-90% of the time. Part of the reason that they're failing is users inevitably dropping them, so I'm looking at potentially some rugged tablet pcs. The problem that I'm running into is that Current tablet pcs are high spec (much higher than I'm looking for at least) The rugged tablet manufacturer space seems to be filled with lots of small companies that I don't trust yet. I'm looking for tablet PCs (keyboard or no) that can support: XP tpc (optional win 7) single core 1.5-2ghz 1gb ram wifi optional gsm optional gps very optional vehicle docking solutions The budget I've got is tight (but slightly flexible - So are there any reputable tablet pc vendors out there that can do this.

• Check if root ca certificate is installed

  We are having a custom CA for our local-domains. The Root CA certificate is installed on all the corporate machines by default, but sometimes it happens that we have someone here who doesn't have it installed. If the user a) accesses our intranet using http or b) accepts the server-certificate I would like to redirect the user to a site which tells it what happened and how they can install the root CA. The only solution I found was the following: <img src="https://the_site/the_image" onerror="redirectToCertPage()"> This is barely a work-around and not really a solution. It can be triggered by other problems then the missing certificate. Are there any better solutions on how to solve this problem?

• Is HAProxy able to pass SSL requests to Apache + mod_ssl?

  Most of the documentation I've read regarding HAProxy and SSL seems to suggest that SSL must be handled before it reaches HAProxy. Most solutions focus on using stunnel, and a few suggest Apache + mod_ssl infront of HAProxy. Our problem though, is that we use Apache as a reverse proxy to a number of other sites which use their own certificates. Ideally what we'd like, is for HAProxy to pass all SSL traffic to Apache, and let Apache handle either the SSL or reverse proxying. Our current setup: Apache Reverse Proxy -> Apache + mod_ssl -> Application What I'd like to do: HAProxy -> Apache Reverse Proxy -> Apache + mod_ssl -> Application Is it possible to do this? Is HAProxy capable of forwarding SSL traffic to be handled by a server BEHIND it?
