• TextMate GetBundle stopped working in Snow Leopard

  It seems that I am no longer able to Get Bundles using TextMate after upgrading to Snow Leopard. I get the following error message. Googling shows no solutions. I have updated to the latest GetBundle via svn to no avail. /Applications/TextMate.app/Contents/SharedSupport/Support/lib/osx/plist.bundle: dlopen(/Applications/TextMate.app/Contents/SharedSupport/Support/lib/osx/plist.bundle, 9): no suitable image found. • (Tough) Security Queston about ISP companies

  I want to ask a question. One ISP was criticized for it's low security conditions, and when i heard this i started to think: If one gets an unauthorized access to the mainframe computer / internal network of the ISP, then wouldn't he be able to sniff all the traffic ? Because the ISP is providing the internet connection for the user so all traffic that sends and transmits a user travels via the ISP, right ? What security solutions (talking about computer security) are being implemented by other ISP in order to protect themselves and their users ? If all the connections are being sent via a special computer, how secure it is and how can be we sure that it's really safe ? And what kind of computers are those who serve as backbones for the ISP ? • Keyboard doesn't work after upgrade to Debian Wheezy

  After upgrade from lenny to wheezy keyboard and mouse don't work in X (keyboard available before it starts). I looked over internet about this issue and found some solutions: remove xorg.conf (http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=62880) update udev and base-files (http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64927&p=376136#p376136) remove /run directory (http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64927&p=376136#p376136) reintall xserver and xorg But, nothing helped me :( Logs of X-server haven't got any messages about keyboard or mouse errors. • Microsoft DNS/DHCP using DDNS - Domain Suffix issue

  I have an issue with our Microsoft DNS server, we're getting the dreaded "DNS Update Failed" in the DHCP logs. We have two forward lookup zones, blah.com and somethingelse.com - blah.com is the one I want the workstations/DHCP to dynamically update. However, I can only get it to work if I specify blah.com as the domain suffix in the network connection properties. I can think of two possible solutions, but have no idea how to implement them or if they're possible: 1) Designate a blah.com as the "default" zone somehow on the DNS server, so all updates are sent to that zone unless the client's domain suffix is somethingelse.com 2) Use DHCP option 15, which sets the domain suffix. - We're currently doing that, but it doesn't seem to take it into account when updating DNS. Can anyone please shed some light? Thank you.

I've been directed to take a look at Solarwinds, which is an excellent network monitoring solution, for an internal project. Basically we want to write our own panel to display information custom to our network infrastructure. Has anyone done anything like this, or know if there is a plugin SDK giving developer access? • Just want to send emails from my Ubuntu Server. What simple SMTP server solution to use?

  Basically I have a Ubuntu Server machine and I would like an idiot-proof solution for sending emails from my website that is also running in this same machine. My doubts are: 1) Should I use postfix or there are more simple solutions for an smtp server? 2) Do I need to be able to receive emails as well? I just want to send emails... 3) I did I simple test with postfix that came with my Ubuntu server and the email got sent, but it went to the spam box of my gmail. Anyway to avoid the spam box? 4) The email sender was [email protected]. How do I change that? Thanks very much! -Sergio

  I have configured passenger on SuSe Linux using simple configuration procedure (calling passenger command and then installing all libraries wich are needed), but now it throws an error.. • GAC locking problem when running deployment

  We have a NANT script that uses msbuild to compile our visual studio solutions and deploys the .dlls into the GAC. This works well on our integration/test servers as part of continuous integration, cruise control uses the NANT scripts and every time the dlls are put into the GAC without problem. On our local development machines, where we use subversion/vs.net etc. for development, frequently certain dlls do not make it to the GAC when we run the build. We think we have narrowed this down to visual studio and/or a plug in locking the GAC or the dlls for some reason. Strangely if we run the build a second time all the dlls make it to the GAC. We have added various iisreset's to the NANT script in the hope of releasing the lock but to no avail. Can anyone suggest a good approach to attack this problem? All the best

• Setting a custom timeout to nmblookup

  As part of a batch script, I have the following command: hostname=$(nmblookup -A $ip_address | awk '$2 == "<20>" {print $1}') Which works fine from a functinality perspective, even for unresolved hosts. The problem is that when the IP address is not reachable or the remote machine does not respond to the SMB request, the command takes about ten seconds to complete. Therefore, the question is simple: is there a way to lower the elapsed time in such cases? Or, in other words, is there a way to set a custom timeout for the nmblookup command? NOTE: I'm interested in solutions that do not make use of SIGALRM or similar mechanisms; if they exist. The nmblookup version is 3.6.3 from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

• Restrict iPhone messaging to corprate osx server messaging service

  I have not found much information about this. We have company owned iPhone and iPads. We would like our employees to be able to message but require all messaging traffic to go through our local mountain lion osx server (not setup yet). How would the phones and server need to be configured to accomplish this. Specifically is it possible to restrict the user from adding additional accounts? How about another app that would use the server? Do you know of any good documentation on setting up this service on osx server and iPhone? I am open to other solutions, opensource messaging servers.....

• SQL Server 2008 Express - "Best" backup solution?

  Hi! What backup solutions would you recommend when using SQL Server 2008 express? I'm pretty new to SQL Server, but as I'm coming from an MySql background i thought of setting up replication on another computer and just take x-copy backups of that server. But unfortanetly replication is not available in the express edition. The site is heavily accessed, so there has to be no delays och downtime. I'm also thinking of doing a backup twice a day or something. What would you recommend? I have multiple computers I can use, but don't know if that helps me since i'm using the express version. • HTTP SSL VPN Client? (alternative to Cisco's AnyConnect VPN)

  Is there any free HTTP SSL VPN clients around, one that can act as an alternative to Cisco's own HTTP SSL VPN client (called AnyConnect)? The Cisco AnyConnect client has acknowledged problems, with no forthcoming solutions. Which is why I'm hoping for an alternative. Note: I'm only talking about the HTTP SSL VPN Client, not the HTTP SSL VPN Server. (If it were up to me they wouldn't be using Cisco at all, but it's not up to me.) Note: OpenVPN is a client that talks to their servers once you sign up for their service. It's not a generic VPN client. Note: ShrewSoft VPN is a client that uses IPsec and pre-shared keys, and was a good replacement for Cisco's old client - but not the new AnyConnect SSL VPN client. Note: Windows 7's VPN client fails to negotiate when presented with an SSL VPN connection. Note: I am looking for Windows clients only.

• Power supply triggered to start by another power supply

  I am building a raid array in a separate enclosure. I will be putting an empty tower case next to an existing tower computer, and this second tower case will only hold hard drives. There are many solutions for connecting the drives in the second case to the raid card in the first case (SFF-8088 and SFF-8087 cables). But I prefer not to run power from the first case to the second case. Can I use a power supply in the first tower case and cause it to start the power supply in the second case based on an indication from power in the first tower case's power supply? Maybe run a 12 volt cable from the first case to the power supply on the second case only for the purpose of initiating the second power supply.

• Remote control a computer using another computer

  I've got a main desktop computer at home, I'd like watch movies using it but able to control it afar. For example, I would like to lay on my bed and control the desktop using my own laptop via wireless. I've been looking for solutions to my question. I tried to use remote desktop, I can pause the movie but I then have to go to the pc to log in the OS again. I also tried to bind my desktop to my mobile phone over bluetooth, this works as I can control the mouse etc. but I found I can barely see the mouse pointer when at long distance. I still wish I can use my laptop as a remote control, is this possible?

• windows 7 no internet access

  Just did a fresh install of Windows 7, and the network and sharing center says no internet access. Disabling and enabling the adapter seems to fix the issue temporarily, but the internet stops working shortly after. I have installed the latest NIC drivers and have installed all Windows updates. I have also tried manually setting the ip/gateway/dns and running netsh int ip reset in an elevated command prompt. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a wired connection. I have searched for hours, but have found no working solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Error "403 Forbidden" on Sharepoint Search Settings Page

  Hello I thought I had solved this nightmare by re-entering the values in my SSP properties set up, however accessing the Search Settings page error has reared it ugly head again. Please guys how do I get around this access denied issue. Thanks

• Cannot uninstall Office Live Add-in 1.4 after installing Office 2010

  Last night I upgraded to Office 2010 RTM from MSDN. I'm now trying to uninstall the Office Live Add-in that I used with Office 2007 as this functionality is built in to Office 2010. When I run the uninstall from control panel I get the following message: Microsoft Office Live Add-in cannot be installed because you do not have the right version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer Google has pointed to 2 solutions, both of which are pretty useless: Use the MS Windows Installer Cleanup - this is not good because all it does is remove the Installer entry from the registry, leaving all the installed files behind Uninstall Office 2010, uninstall Add-in, reinstall Office 2010 - that is just rediculous, but typical MS response So, can I get this off my system without resorting to option 2?

• Dynamic group membership to work around no nested security group support for Active Directory

  My problem is that I have a number of network administration applications like SAN switches that do not support nested groups from Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). These legacy administration applications use either LDAP or LDAPS. I am fairly sure I can use Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) and possibly Windows Authorization Manager to work around this issue; however I am not really sure where to start. I want to end up with: A single group that can be queried over LDAP/LDAPS for all it’s direct members LDAP proxy for user name and password credentials to AD DS Easy way to admin the group, ideally the group would aggregate the nested membership in AD DS. a native solution using freely available components from the Windows stack. If you have any suggestions or solutions that you have previously used to solve this issue please let me know.

  I'm running an ec2 instance on ubuntu running lamp stack. I configured my httpd.conf file to support wildcard sub-domain but it didn't work. My httpd.conf file NameVirtualHost * <VirtualHost *> DocumentRoot /www/example ServerName example.com ServerAlias *.example.com </VirtualHost> I tried all possible solutions but they didn't work. Finally I used amazon Route-53 to setup a wildcard DNS to redirect all *.example.com to example.com. My question is, Is it okay if I use Route-53 instead of httpd.conf file for wildcard Sub-Domain ? Is there an error in my httpd.conf file ? (Note: I used the same httpd.conf settings with another hosting provider and it worked perfectly there.) • Internet speed showing high value but never felt that speed [closed]

  I use Reliance Netconnect+ in my Toshiba Satellite laptop. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. I've seen speeds up to 1500 kbps when travelling and have an average speed of 400 kbps at my room premises. I'm sorry, I've never felt that much speed while browsing or downloading. Sometimes I think some other programs are also sharing the same network. It is just showing 200 or 500 kbps but I feel 25 or 50 kbps. Is there any way to prevent them? I use Google Chrome downloaded from Google site. Please suggest me some solutions.

• SharePoint Upgade Question

  My company will be upgrading our SharePoint 2007 site to SP2010 and I know how to do it. But there is one step in the migration step that I don't. The pre-upgrade checker will give you a list of components/solutions that are referenced in the contentDBs but is not installed on the upgraded sharepoint farm. What do you do if the component is not available for 2010? (I believe the only option is uninstall the component before migration). Even if an upgrade is available for upgraded components won't it have a different GUID and therefore not solve the migration error messages? In other words, isn't it true that "install missing components" advice for 07 components only work if the 07 components works in 2010 (which I think is very few components.). Thanks. Seth

• Software for failover across multiple external hosts

  I have multiple webservers with the same content, hosted across different providers. However, I can't seem to find a nice, simple failover solution. Load-balancing software (Pound, HAProxy, etc.) are unnecessary, and I need the flexibility to manage over 100+ domains, so the paid DNS failover solutions I've found are too expensive. So far the simplest solution I've thought of is just to set a very low TTL (30min - 1hr) in each zone entry on my nameservers (running BIND). Then, continuously monitor each server, and temporarily remove failed servers from zone entries. But this seems like something that should be currently available. I only have root access to different VPSes running CentOS. Any suggestions? Thanks!

• How to handle external and internal DNS on windows 2012

  I'm trying to setup an Active Directory network on Server 2012 R2, and want AD's DNS to only be used internally (Ex: domain-controller.company.com) as well as some records that need both internal and external accessibility (Ex: mail.company.com) that use internal IP's on the internal network and finally some records that only need external access. The only solutions i have been able to think of, or look up are to either use a sub domain that handles all internal records, and use the plain company.com domain for all external records. These both seem to mean i have to manage two DNS servers separately. Is either of these the best ways or am i messing up somewhere?
