  • Limiting network throughput of an already launched process ? (Linux/FreeBSD)

    Hello everybody, is there any utility to limit the network throughput of a process after it has been launched ? Simple example: you note that a user takes all your upload bandwidth using scp and you'd like to limit the rate or decrease the priority of the transfer. I guess i could use a combination of iptables/tc or pf to achieve that, but i was wondering if there is a "one-shot" tool available (like tickle with a --pid option ^^) ? Regards, Jean-Baptiste

  • RSS to e-mail notifications?

    There's a web site that's supposed to upload a video I'd like to watch but it could be in several weeks. The only way to be notified of any change is through RSS, but I don't use RSS at all, so installing an RSS client just for this seems overkill. Unless there's a better solution I should know about, do you know of a good, free solution on the web that will watch the RSS channel and send me an e-mail when a new item was added? Thank you.

    Hey guys, I have 2 LANs in my own PC & 2 Routers (TP-Link WR941N each) with 2 internet accounts (512Kbps each) connected to the same ISP signal & company using NanoStation 5 from ubnt. As you know the connections work separately by default! (I use Windows 7 64bit) Can I merge them to get double speed (download/upload simultaneously) using regedit or special software or any other method?   • Dynamic Colorbox galleries using Ajax

    Hi, I am new to jQuery / AJAX. I have a page that uses colorbox to display photo galleries. The page displays only one image from each gallery. When clicked, a colorbox opens up with all of the photos from that gallery. These inner photo references (for all photos from all galleries) are hidden on the page in an invisible div. The page is a PHP generated page. The galleries/photos are being populated via Picasa. All of the above works fine, but instead of loading all of the images from all galleries on page load (via PHP), I'd like to load only the requested gallery into the colorbox via AJAX. So far, I have a test page which can insert the proper links into a div on the page, but the Colorbox won't pick up on these links. This is where I need help. How can I get Colorbox to recognize the links generated by my AJAX call?   • How to display a JSON error message?

    I'm currently developing a tumblr theme and have built a jQuery JSON thingamabob that uses the Tumblr API to do the following: The user would click on the "post type" link (e.g. Video Posts), at which stage jQuery would use JSON to grab all the posts that's related to that type and then dynamically display them in a designated area. Now everything works absolutely peachy, except that with Tumblr being Tumblr and their servers taking a knock every now and then, the Tumblr API thingy is sometimes offline. Now I can't foresee when this function will be down, which is why I want to display some generic error message if JSON (for whatever reason) was unable to load the post. You'll see I've already written some code to show an error message when jQuery can't find any posts related to that post type BUT it doesn't cover any server errors.   • Jquery Cycle Plugin Question - turning off relative links to photos so it goes to a URL

    I am using Jquery Cycle Plugin and it has a side panel that highlights as the photos change and currently when I click on the text the associated photo pulls up then I have to click on the photo to go to the URL but I would like the text itself to link to the URL. When they return (-connectionDidFinishLoading) I wanna do stuff with the data, depending on the type of data that has arrived. But one prob, HOW DO I KNOW WHICH NSURLConnection returned? I need to know so I can take action specific to the type of data that came.
