• How do I select an option using Spring's form:select tag?

  I'm using Spring 3.1.1.RELEASE. Using the form:select tag, how do I specify which option should be selected? I want the first one to be selected, but when I put <form:select path="parentOrganization"> <form:option value="" label="Select an Org Type or Parent Org" /> <form:options items="${orgTypesWoParents}" itemValue="id" itemLabel="description" /> <form:option value="" label="=======================" /> </form:select> the last one is selected. I want to preserve the order of how everything is displayed, which is why I've arranged things in this way.

• C++ shared libraries

  Hi, I am trying to get my head around the way shared libraries work in the c++ unix environment. I understand we only need header files and no shared libraries specification when compiling code. But if I want to create an executable or shared library from my compiled files, do I need to specify shared library dependencies (those are dynamic)? And do the paths of shared libraries need to match the path at runtime loading? I am using Linux 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux I am having a problem where my code is not able to pick up a library at runtime. I have tried setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PATH. But at runtime when I run the executable, I get the following error: Error: librc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Sam

• Where should I put interface?

  I program a class in which I have a method which takes an callback object from an external software. At the moment Eclipse says that it does not know the type of the object I gave as argument (it is expectable since I do not specify this type, it's done by the external software). So, I think I need to write an interface for the object which I give as an argument to my method. In this respect I have two questions. Is it really so? Can I solve the mentioned problem in the mentioned way. If it is the case, where should I put this interface? In the same file where my class is? In the class? Outside of the class?

• DI: Injecting ActionFilterAttribute implementation (ASP.NET MVC)

  I was wondering if it is possible to inject a particular ActionFilterAttribute implementation using a IoC container. For example, imagine you create a TransactionAttribute class [Transaction] You use this to decorate action which should be wrapped in a transaction in the persistence layer. But implementation details of the attribute will be tied to the persistence tech you are using, but strictly speaking, your controller should not know about this, and you might want to swap this out. What I would like to do, is define some kind of TransactionAttribute interface, and then have my IoC inject the correct implantation. So on my actions I only need specify: [Transaction] public ActionResult SomeAction() { .... } ...and the IoC will inject the correct implementation depending on config (eg. something like NHibernateTransactionAttribute, or SomeOtherORMTransactionAttribute). Is this possible? Has anyone done it?

  I am trying to figure out how to dynamically specify the properties for my select clause in a linq query. Lets say I have a collection of employee objects. At run time, the end user will be specifying which properties they would like to see for those employees, so I need to be able to dynamically construct my Linq select clause. I have used the dynamic Linq library, but I prefer not to use that, because it requires me to build a string to pass to the select method. I'd like to understand how to do this via Expressions.

• Stop node containing subnodes and text in schema

  If I have some xml like this: <mynode> <mysubnode> <mysubsubnode>hello world</mysubsubnode> some more text </mysubnode> </mynode> As you can see, mysubnode contains both a subnode and some text data. What I want to know is, is it possible to prevent this happening in a schema? I don't want nodes to contain subnodes and text, just subnodes or text. Is there an option in my xsd I can specify to force this? My program to that uses this xml is written in .NET, so I'll tag it as well incase there's anything of use in .net that I can utilise for this, though I'd much rather that the issue was fixed in the schema itself. • How to Implement AutoSize

  I'm trying to figure out a good way to auto-size a Rectangle that has text drawn inside of it. I basically want the size to have a ratio of width/height and then "grow" according to that ratio to fit the text. I've looked at Graphics.MeasureString but I don't think it does what I'm looking for (maybe it does and I'm just using it wrong). I don't want to specify a specific width of the rectangle to be drawn, instead I want to say find the smallest width/height to fit this text but the found rectangle must have some specific ratio of width and height. This doesn't have to be specific to C#, any idea for solving this problem I'm sure can be mapped to C#. Thanks!

• Spring FactoryBean and scopes working together

  I'd like to use FactoryBeans and scopes together. Specifically, I'd like the object created and returned by a FactoryBean to be placed into a specified (perhaps custom) scope. The issue is that doing the following: <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" scope="test" /> Results in the FactoryBean itself being scoped, and has somewhat unpredictable behaviour on the object created by the factory. I understand why this is; the factory itself is a first-class spring-managed bean, and has its own lifecycle. However, I can't find a way to specify that the object returned from the factory should itself be scoped. On the other hand, this does exactly what I want (as long as TestFactoryBean does NOT implement the FactoryBean interface): <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" name="testFactory"> <bean class="x.y.z.TestBean" factory-bean="testFactory" factory-method="getObject" scope="test" /> So the real question is, how can I make Spring behave like it does for the 2nd example above, but using real FactoryBeans?

• HTML img scaling

  I'm trying to display some large images with HTML img tags. At the moment they go off the edge of the screen; how can I scale them to stay within the browser window? Or in the likely event that this is not possible, is it possible to at least say "display this image at 50% of its normal width and height"? The width and height attributes distort the image -- as far as I can tell, this is because they refer to whatever attributes the container may end up with, which will be unrelated to the image. I can't specify pixels because I have to deal with a large collection of images each with a different pixel size. Max-width doesn't work.

My code looks like this: var listOfMatchedResults = $("#parentList").find(".myStyle1, .myStyle2"); My styles are defined like this: .parent li, .myStyle0 { } .parent li.myStyle1 { } .parent li.myStyle2 { } I don't need to traverse more than one level deeper than the children level, like: <ul id='parentList'> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> <li class='myStyle2'><p>Here</p><p>I am!</p></li> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> </ul> I'm not clear as to what find() is doing, is it going into each of the paragraph elements too? I just need it to traverse the top-level children - is there a way to specify that? Thank you

  I am trying to follow this instruction. I have a local git repo and when I do a git push, I need the repo to be pushed to my EC2 instance. But, in the above tutorial, when I do a git push origin master, I get Permission denied (publickey) error because I did not specify the identity file. Say, I login to EC2 like this: ssh -i my_key.pem [email protected] So, can I do something similar here to: git -i my_key.pem push origin master or set the identity file in .git/config So, how can I set it up?

  Hi, I'm looking for a jquery carousel to contain image with the following requirements: must run on auto must not pause must be able to pause on image hover must have external controls that once clicked change the direction of the carousel. must be able to fadeout buttons when the carousel is moving in that direction. I've looked at jcaursel and jcaousellite but both have a pause of in auto mode or you have to specify how many items to slide. I just want it to move continously like a news ticker. Any suggestions on how to achieve this or how to customise jcaurousel or jcarouselite?

• Recursively disabling CONFIG dependencies on linux kernel builds

  When configuring a Linux kernel, I normally start with my distribution's kernel config file. I often want to turn off some entries, but they are sometimes unchangeable because other CONFIG options that depend on it are enabled. I can look up the dependencies manually, which often have dependencies of their own. It can be pretty time consuming to did through them all, especially if you're trying to turn off something like CONFIG_KALLSYMS. Is there a way to specify a CONFIG option you want gone, and have all dependencies automatically selected/disselected as nessisary for you? I looked through all the make options and in the scripts directory, and didn't see anything available for this.

  I realized that I can specify $(document).ready(function(){}); more than once. Suppose like this $(document).ready(function(){ var abc = "1122"; //do something.. }); $(document).ready(function(){ var abc = "def"; //do something.. }); Is this standard ? Those codes work on my FF (16.0.2). I just a little afraid that other browser may not. What actually happen ? How jQuery handle those code ? Thanks.

• Install the proper bitness Visual C++ Runtime Library via a Setup project

  Hi all! The context: I have a solution that contains amongh other C# projects, a VC++ project that suports compiling only as x64 or Win32 (but not Any CPU). In order for the application (which in fact is a macro for a third party application) to run, it requires Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x86) or (x64) (The macro will run on both x64 and x86 operating systems.) The problem: I want to create a Visual Studio setup project that would install the macro on both x86 and x64 operating systems, and the problem I have is to specify what Visual C++ Runtime library to use a prerequisite. If both are selected (x64 and x86) than I have a runtime error message when running the setup.exe, as on x86 operating systems you cannot run x64 executables like the Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x64) kit is...(which the setup calls in the back). So I would need a bitness condition, or something like that to tell the setup what bitness version of the Visual C++ Runtime library to try to install...I'm not sure if this is possible, or even where such a code should be placed in the setup. • Any advantage to using SVG font in @font-face instead of TTF/EOT?

  I am investigating the usage of SVG fonts in @font-face declaration. So far, only Safari 4 and Opera 10 seem to support it (see an example for test [1]). Firefox 3.5 does not support it but there is a bug report [2] but no fix has been supplied yet (though there are patches). I also came across this discussion[3] which tangentially talks about advantages/disadvantages of SVG fonts. I am wondering, with @font-face support in major browsers, what is the advantage of using SVG font format in lieu of TTF/OTF/EOT formats? The only advantage I can glean from the discussion linked above was that you can add your own missing gylphs to fonts that do not support them yet.   Is there a way to control the relative stacking of Dialogs produced by your own Activity? For instance, there are some more important Dialogs which I would like to ensure are on top and if another Dialog wants to pop up I would want it to pop under the important Dialogs. Example: I want to present to the user an important dialog, Dialog A. The activity realizes that there is a dialog, Dialog B, of lesser importance to display to the user. Is it possible to specify Dialog B to be under Dialog A so that when Dialog A is cleared, Dialog B will be seen by the user? I know that the onDismiss interface exists, but this necessarily ties Dialog A and Dialog B together. I want the Dialogs to be independent and would prefer to use a higher level abstraction like the window stack responsible for ordering the Dialogs.

• Call an action from another controller

  I have two different objects: contracts, and task orders. My requirements specify that in order to view the Details for either object, the Url should be "http://.../Contract/Details" or "http://.../TaskOrder/Details" depending on which type. They are both very similar and the details pages are almost identical, so I made a class that can either be a contract or a task order, and has a variable "objectTypeID" that says which type it is. I wrote the action "Details" in the task order controller, but now I want to call that from the contract controller instead of recopying the code. So is there any way to have the url still say ".../Contract/Details" but call the action in the TaskOrder controller instead? I tried using TaskOrderController TOController = new TaskOrderController(); TOController.Details(id); This would have worked except that I can't use the HttpContext.Session anymore, which I used several times in the action.

  Please see pic, this is what I want to do. I am really struggling to bloody do it lol. The master div, is 600px wide ( blue bg ) and need splitting into two areas, left for the image and right for the text etc. Ignore the vertical divider line The left hand div, is approx 200px wide, and need to specify a min-height of 100px, as the placeholder image which is centered to that div 50% 50% will change size, as I will be adding another div like this with larger image placeholder. The right part contains the header tag, description, button and second description. I have already constructed this and works fine in chrome and ff, but not in ie. So could you guys have a think, and give me some code that complies in all browsers. It is officially doing my head in now. Screenpic of it working in ff and chrome below:

  I have an activity with an "Add" and a "Delete" button. The "Add Button" inflates a view, the "Delete Button" removes a selected View. When I inflate a view with the "Add Button", it is automatically drawn below any previously infalted view.   Currently I have a static class that I use as my logging module. I’ve added the class to my visual studio solution. Within the class I’ve specified the name and location of the log file to use. Which lets me do stuff like this – which I like and want. Logger.Information(“Page_Load”,”controls loaded correctly”); I’d like to refactor the code and move the logging functionality into a separately compiled assembly, if I did this I would then need to pass in the log file name and location to save the files too. However I don’t want to have to supply this information every time I call the ‘Logging’ method, this would be bad... Logger.Informtaion(“Page_Load”,”controls loaded correctly”,”logfile.txt”,”c:\temp”); Is there any way I can supply this information without having to specify it within each page or via the method call.

  I've googled, but haven't been able to find the answer to this seemingly simple question. I have two relations, a customer and an order. Each order is associated to a single cusomter, and therefore has a FK relationship to the customer table. The customer relation only stores customer names, and I have set a unique constraint on the customer table barring duplicate names. Let's say I create a new order instance and set a customer for the order. Something like: order_instance.customer = Customer("customer name") When I save the order instance, SqlAlchemy will complain if a customer with this name already exists in the customer table. How do I specify to SqlAlchemy to insert into the customer table if a customer with this name doesn't already exist, or just ignore (or even update) to the customer relation? I don't really want to have to check each time if a customer with some name already exists...

• where to store information like gender and year of birth?

  i have users and i need them to specify a gender (male, female) and year of birth (1930, 1931...1999, 2000). i wonder where i should store these values: in the database? in php file? if i store them in the database i have to manually create all entries first. but a good thing is that the user table will have constraints so the gender field will always be male or female, it cannot be something else. if i store them in the php file (eg. as html) then i can easily add/remove values. but a con is that i dont have the constraints in database, so another value could be stored as gender by mistake, even though i could add validation in php backend so even if someone hacked the html it is not stored unless it's either male or female. what is best practice to do this? thanks

  I am learning how to use SQL and Stored Procedures. I know the syntax is incorrect: Copy data from one table into another table on another Database with a Stored Procedure. The problem is I don't know what table or what database to copy to. I want it to use parameters and not specify the columns specifically. I have 2 Databases (Master_db and Master_copy) and the same table structure on each DB. I want to quickly select a table in Master_db and copy that table's data into Master_copy table with same name. I have come up with something like this: USE Master_DB CREATE PROCEDURE TransferData DEFINE @tableFrom, @tableTo, @databaseTo; INSERT INTO @databaseTo.dbo.@databaseTo SELECT * FROM Master_DB.dbo.@tableFrom GO;
