• Why cant i add Orientation property to the style setter in WPF

  When i write something like this: <Style x:Key="panelS"> <Setter Property="Orientation" Value="Horizontal" /> <Setter Property="DockPanel.Dock" Value="Top" /> </Style> I get the error that says: Cannot resolve the Style Property 'Orientation'. Verify that the owning type is the Style's TargetType, or use Class.Property syntax to specify the Property. Sure i have a Dock panel with many Stackpanels in it so i want to move Stackpanel's properties to the style. But there is this error and i dont quite understand what it means and what is the workaround(..i'd wanted not to assign Orientation on every Stackpanel).

• How to handle null {id} on route?

  What if a user hits my site with http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit rather than http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit/1000 In other words, they do not specify a value for {id}. If they do not, I want to display a nice "Not Found" page, since they did not give an ID. I currentl handle this by accepting a nullable int as the parameter in the Controller Action and it works fine. However, I'm curious if there a more standard MVC framework way of handling this, rather than the code I presently use (see below). Is a smoother way to handle this, or is this pretty mush the right way to do it? • JRI Fatal Error on Ubuntu

  I have successfully installed JRI and rJava on Windows 7. I am now trying to get it to work on Ubuntu with 64bit OS. I can make rJava calls from within R but getting JRI to work is more difficult. I am running NetBeans 7.1.2 and I have followed various tricks in setting R_HOME and java.library.path to enable all the classes to be loaded. That is, I am past the error messages such as "jri library not found" and "R_HOME not set". From my java code,I can see that R_HOME = /usr/lib64/R. The error message I get now is Fatal error: you must specify '--save', '--no-save' or '--vanilla' This happens when Rengine is first called: Rengine r = new Rengine(args,false,null); This appears to be an error message from R; it seems to be expecting a command line argument. I haven't seen any posting with this error message. Any ideas? Thanks, Peter

  I'm trying to convert a Dictionary< dynamic, dynamic to a statically-typed one by examining the types of the keys and values and creating a new Dictionary of the appropriate types using Reflection. If I know the key and value types, I can do the following: Type dictType = typeof(Dictionary<,>); newDict = Activator.CreateInstance(dictType.MakeGenericType(new Type[] { keyType, valueType })); However, I may need to create, for example, a Dictionary< MyKeyType, dynamic if the values are not all of the same type, and I can't figure out how to specify the dynamic type, since typeof(dynamic) isn't viable. How would I go about doing this, and/or is there a simpler way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

• How do I determine what branch/tag I have checked out in git?

  I clone my source using git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/p/mediawiki/core.git w/. Then I specify a specific branch/tag by doing git checkout <tag name> or git checkout origin/REL<release number>. Sometimes I forget what branch or tag I'm on. In SVN I would do a svn info to figure out what branch/tag I'm using (I realize that git has distinct definitions for branch and tag but for my purposes they are the same). How do I determine what branch/tag I am on?

• Notepad++ Question

  I would like a hotkey to Save All in Notepad++ then switch to the browser and refresh the page. I have to do this thousands of times a day and doing the Save All hotkey, then Alt-Tab to the right window, then F5 to refresh again and again, there must be a better solution? I am open to switching editors if there is another that can do this. I have tried using run commands but the problem is although it allows you to make something like [firefox.exe "current file"], if you come down to wanting to open it at a web address like localhost because it needs to run server side, then you have to manually specify the other part of the string, like [chrome.exe "custom var(web address) / filename"] and it always opens a new tab, then creates lots of clutter. Also, if you are editing an include file then it will try to open that instead of the page you want to see when you use the run command, a refresh would be the only realistic method I can think of using.

• "set -e" in shell and command substitution

  In shell scripts set -e is often used to make them more robust by stopping the script when some of the commands executed from the script exits with non-zero exit code. It's usually easy to specify that you don't care about some of the commands succeeding by adding || true at the end. The problem appears when you actually care about the return value, but don't want the script to stop on non-zero return code, for example: output=$(possibly-failing-command) if [ 0 == $? -a -n "$output" ]; then ... else ... fi Here we want to both check the exit code (thus we can't use || true inside of command substitution expression) and get the output. However, if the command in command substitution fails, the whole script stops due to set -e. Is there a clean way to prevent the script from stopping here without unsetting -e and setting it back afterwards?

• Avoiding configSections in .NET app.config files

  I'm looking for a way to avoid declaring my configuration section in the configSections inside the App.config file. Basically, I want to specify my configuration information just like I do for built-in .NET systems. For instance, when configuring WCF, I just put stuff in the <system.serviceModel>, I don't have to declare a section in the configSections up top. The same thing applies for <system.diagnostics> and many other namespaces. I know I could just load it up as an XML file and parse through it, but I'd prefer to stick with the pattern if possible. Moreover, looking at the WCF configuration with Reflector, I notice that it uses the same configuration subsystem (defined in System.Configuration). If you're wondering why this is important, it's because it's confusing our IT people. If it were self contained in one place, it would be much easier on them. I also realize I'll lose the ability to have multiple of the same section type, but that's not important in our case.

• Importing a CSV file without headers into SQL 2008

  I want to import a CSV with 4,8M records into a SQL 2008 table. I'm trying to do it with the Management Studio wizard but it keeps trying to recognize a header row which the CSV doesnt have. I don't find any option to skip this and although I specify the columns myself, the wizard still tries to find a header row and doesnt import anything without it. The structure of the CSV is "818180","25529","Dario","Pereyra","Rosario","SF","2010-09-02" I've also tried alternatives like BULK INSERT but then I find out that with BULK INSERT I can't import files with a text qualifier.

• Imagecache, Views, file renaming, and output directories

  I have been trying to figure this one out for awhile and just seem to be getting myself deeper into a rabbit hole.. I think it would be best if I would just explain what I am trying to accomplish and go from there.. Essentially what I would like to happen is a user would upload a photograph from the filefield sources on a content type, and then using views, it would output that different image through different imagecache actions.. The problem seems to be that the actual directories it is making is really cluttered and I would like it to be a little bit more organized due to some file renaming. Here is how I would like the process to happen: Upload image.jpg Imagecache resize 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-100.jpg Imagecache desaturate 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-d-100.jpg Currently it seems that every imagecache action will save that file in its own directory.. How can I specify a more customized output? Thanks, Anthony

• dependencies linking isnt enough?

  In Visual Studio (C++) the other day, I was trying to build some example code and it would not work, even though I was pointing at the right include and lib directories. (I got linker errors) I asked a friend who fixed the problem by specifying the necessary .lib files in the General Properties-Linker-Input field of the project settings. My questions: Simply pointing to the directory with the .lib files is not enough? You need to specifically tell the linker which lib files to link? By listing the .lib files in the "additional dependencies" field, am I specifying exactly which static libs get built into the exe? If the answer to this is yes, then will these be the ONLY lib files that get built into the exe? Why is it called "additional" dependencies? Is there another place to specify lib files to include? Before I thought this was done by including the necessary header file? Thanks everyone! Russel

• Organization of linking to external libraries in C++

  In a cross-platform (Windows, FreeBSD) C++ project I'm working on, I am making use of two external libraries, Protocol Buffers and ZeroMQ. In both projects, I am tracking the latest development branch, so these libraries are recompiled / replaced often. For a development scenario, where is the best place to keep libprotobuf.{a,lib} and zeromq.{so,dll}? Should I have my build script copy them from their respective project directories into my local project's directory (say MyProjectRoot/lib or MyProjectRoot/bin) before I build my project? This seems preferable to tossing things into /usr/local/lib, as I wouldn't want to replace a system-wide stable version with the latest experimental one. Cmake warns me whenever I specify a relative path for linking, so I would suspect copying is a better solution then relative linking? Is this the best approach? Thanks for your help!

  I have an SSAS cube containing customers and their purchased memberships (let's say magazines). I want to calculate the retention. I.e. how many customers remain a customer. To do this I specify a set (males, 30yrs, 1 january 2011). I want to see if this set - identified by a customer number - is still present in the following months. I named my set MySet2. What I try to do is: sum(measures.amount, [membership].[name].&[X], MySet2, [date].[date].currentmember) However, the result is incorrect. The number is far to low. I suspect it still tries to account for all the males of 30 years old, but after a year they're not 30 anymore. What am I missing? I looked at scope and filter, but I'm not sure how to apply it.

  I would like to add an additional parameter in my url, the use case is the following: When user do their login they also specify a 'company' name and from that moment on, all urls should map to: /$company/$controller/$action/$id The main idea is to have the current company name available in all url's, have it bookmarkable, and not to have to pass the company name everywhere as a request parameter. Also, once users are logged in it is acceptable to have the chosen company name in session scope. What is the right way of inserting this parameter in all our urls?   I would like to deploy a Python Flask application on beanstalk. The application depends on external packages (e.g. geopy) and internal packages (e.g. adam_geography). The manual Create a requirements.txt file and place it in the top-level directory of your source bundle. This would probably fetch geopy and its dependencies, but would not fetch adam_geography which is available from a custom repo inside my VPC. How do I specify/upload private, internal Python package dependencies in a Beanstalk application?

  Hello -- We are moving our SL3 app to SL4. First step was to open it in VS2010; it converted w/o problem. However, parameters specified for the start page are not passed along. That is, if we specify ourStartPage.aspx?Slam=Dunk&Glass=Sun in app.xaml.cs, Application_Startup(), e.InitParams is empty. How do we fix this? Thanks for any advice.... • asp.net web service OneWay definition not working

  When I specify <SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay:=True)> on my webservice it doesn't seem to get called. If I remove that the webservice works properly. Also, everything works fine on the development machine just not on the server. • Resharper: how to force introducing new private fields at the bottom of the class?

  Resharper offers a very useful introduce and initialize field xxx action when you specify a new parameter in a constructor like: Constructor (int parameter) The only (minor) nuisance is that it puts the new field at the beginning of the class - and I'm a fan of putting private parts as far away as possible from the prying eyes of strangers ;). If, however, you already have some private fields in the class, Resharper will put the new field "correctly" (note the quotes, I don't want to start a flame war over this issue) next to those, even if they are at the end of the class. Is there a way to force Resharper to always put new fields at the end of the class? UPDATE: OK, I forgot to mention I know about the "Type Members Layout in Options" feature, but some concrete help on how to modify the template to achieve fields placement would be nice.

  I am using autobech for doing becnhmark. The subpart is sometimes at the beginning and sometimes the end of the original Enumerable instance, and the length used to specify the subpart is sometimes that of the subpart and sometimes its complement. That gives four possibilities, but I only know how to do three of them. Is there a way to do the fourth one? Getting the first n elements: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].first(3) #= [1, 2, 3] or [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].take(3) #= [1, 2, 3] Dropping the first n elements: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].drop(3) #= [4, 5] Getting the last n elements: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].last(3) #= [3, 4, 5] Dropping the last n elements: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].some_method(3) #= [1, 2]

• The SharePoint Search Dropdown shows only This site as the scope.

  Hi All, I have a team site in which the Search scope dropdown only shows This site and it doesn't show All Sites and People in the dropdown.Any one knows why? I have not enabled Custom scopes in Search settings for this site because I don't have Search Center created. If I create search center and specify as a custom scope in this site I can see all 3 scopes in the dropdown. I am just trying to understand whether I need to have Search Center created to have all these shared scopes getting displayed in the Search Scopes drop down?
