• PowerShell: How to add XmlElement to a non-root element

  I'm having trouble adding an XmlElement to a non-root element in PowerShell. Basically, given this xml: <clubs> <club name="boca" position="1"> <field>bombonera</field> <field>bombonerita</field> </club> <club name="racing" position="19"> <field>cilindro</field> </club> </clubs> I create an element, $new = $clubs.CreateElement("Barracas") When I try to add this element to a non-root node i.e. $clubs.clubs.club += $new I get Cannot set "club" because only strings can be used as values to set XmlNode properties. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

  Hello Im building a new version of an iPhone application and Im wondering if I should review how my app communicates with the server. My iPhone client sends and receives XML over HTTP requests. To send the information I use ASIHTTPRequest framework. I "manually" build the XML request by appending strings. To parse the response Im using a NSXMLParser. My question is if I have better options to A) Create an XML string from a memory object. B) Create a memory object from the XML string. Is there anything like JAXB to marshal XML into object?   Is there a way to convert a Json Object to a Multidimensional C# Array? I know it might be impractical but I can't be bothered to write classes and then deserialize the strings into them. List<string> ohyeah = (List<string>)JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(g.CommToken); That returns an Invalid Cast exception!   I've noticed that some sites (including http://jobs.stackoverflow.com) have query strings that look like this: http://somewebapp.example/?123 as compared to: http://somewebapp.example/123 or http://somewebapp.example/id/123 What are the reasons that developers choose to implement their web apps' URLs using the first example instead of the second and third examples? And as a bonus, how would one implement the first example in PHP, given that 123 is the primary key of some row in a database table? (I just need to know how to retrieve 123 from the URL; I already know how to query the database for a primary key of 123.)

  I face a problem with FOSUserBundle. In my Symfony2 application, I want to implement two differents User. I have one entity User, for basic user, and one entity UserPro with more informations. My problem is that I want to configure my bundle with this two entities: fos_user: db_driver:     orm firewall_name: main user_class:    Btp\UserBundle\Entity\User fos_userpro: db_driver:     orm firewall_name: pro user_class:    Btp\UserProBundle\Entity\UserPro And so, use fos_user and fos_userpro as provider in my security.yml. I'm no sure it's be possible. I obtain an error : There is no extension able to load the configuration for "fos_userpro" (in /..../app/config/config.yml). Looked for namespace "fos_userpro", found "framework", "security", ... And when I take a look in FOSUserBundle files, I feel that fos_user is not a configuration variable and is directly written in strings. Thanks.

• Reading bytes from JavaScript string

  I have a string containing binary data in JS. Now I want to read, for example, an integer from it. So I get the first 4 characters, use charCodeAt, do some shifting etc. to get an integer. Problem is that strings in JS are UTF-16 (instead of ASCII) and charCodeAt often returns values higher than 256. The Mozilla reference states that "The first 128 Unicode code points are a direct match of the ASCII character encoding." (what about ASCII values 128?) How can I convert the result of charCodeAt to an ASCII value? Or is there a better way to convert a string of four characters to a 4 byte integer?

  I'm trying to understand an old classic Mac application's entry point. I've disassembled the first CODE resource (not CODE#0, which is the jump table). The code refers to some variables off the stack: a word at 0004(A7), an array of long words of starting at 000C(A7) whose length is the value at 0004(A7), and a final long word beyond that array that seems to be a pointer to a character string. The array of long words looks like strings at first glance, so it looks superficially like we're dealing with an (int argc, char ** argv) situation, except the "argv" array is inline in the stack frame. What should a program be expecting on its stack / registers when it first gets called by the Mac OS?

• Generate MySQL data dump in SQL from PHP

  I'm writing a PHP script to generate SQL dumps from my database for version control purposes. It already dumps the data structure by means of running the appropriate SHOW CREATE .... query. Now I want to dump data itself but I'm unsure about the best method. My requirements are: I need a record per row Rows must be sorted by primary key SQL must be valid and exact no matter the data type (integers, strings, binary data...) Dumps should be identical when data has not changed I can detect and run mysqldump as external command but that adds an extra system requirement and I need to parse the output in order to remove headers and footers with dump information I don't need (such as server version or dump date). I'd love to keep my script as simple as I can so it can be hold in an standalone file. What are my alternatives?

  I want to emit dynamic error messages like all interpreters do nowadays, for example: Name error: Undefined variable would be constant, however what I want to reach is: Name error: Undefined variable 'X', in line 1 Okay. The line number was really no problem: Every error message must have a line number, so I added it to the error emitter function: Error( ErrType type, string msg, int line ); So where is my problem? How do I get the 'X' into Undefined variable *? I can't use sprintf as it doesn't support strings yet I use them everywhere I can't simply use cout and connect everything as I want error messages to be supressable I'd like to get everything into one function like above, Error() How do I put together dynamic error messages? For example: Error( Name, sprintf("Undefined variable %s", myVariableName ), lineNum ); (But myVariableName is a string and sprintf will mess things up)

I have the following questions in mind weight can be expressed in kilograms and grams and height in meters and centimeters, so should I capture them as a BigDecimal with an appropriate precision and scale or capture them as vanilla strings and do the manipulation in the user interface. Note: I am planning to capture the kilograms and grams separately in the user interface. should the metric of measurement be part of the sql (i.e. the end user might want to view this information in pounds, inches according to his preference) OR Should I just support kilograms / meters in the database and do the conversion while showing this in the user interface

I just accept primitive types, string, DateTime, Guid, and Nullable(since I append types together, I can distinguish who is int and who is int?), because I can convert all to string without lost values or precision.(for float and double a use ToString("R"), to DateTime ToString("O")).   Hi, I work on apllication which allows plugins to access different set of functionality, every plugin provides "initialization string" which sets level of access to different features. Developers send me this strings, and I encrypt them using my 1024 bit RSA private key and send encoded data back. When started, my application decodes encoded data(encoded initialisation string) using built-in public key and if "decoded data != initialization string" it fails to start. So, is it possible to use a database of "initialization string" = "encoded initialization string"(extracted from other plugins) to crack my private key, or make it possible to bruteforce it in reasonable time?

• Send 404 when requesting index.php through .htaccess?

  I've recently refactored an existing CodeIgniter application to use url segments instead of query strings, and I'm using a rewriterule in htaccess to rewrite stuff to index.php: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] My problem right now is that a lot of this website's pages are indexed by google with a link to index.php. Since I made the change to use url segments instead, I don't care about these google results anymore and I want to send a 404 (no need to use 301 Move permanently, there have been enough changes, it'll just have to recrawl everything). To get to the point: How do I redirect requests to /index.php?whatever to a 404 page? I was thinking of rewriting to a non-existent file that would cause apache to send a 404. Would this be an acceptable solution? How would the rewriterule for that look like? edit: Currently, existing google results will just cause the following error: An Error Was Encountered The URI you submitted has disallowed characters.

  Hey All, Okay, so I have an iphone app that presents the user with a UIWebview of an html page with a form I created. The form has standard stuff like a message box and dropdown boxes. Once the user fills out the form and clicks submit, it saves the information as nsstrings in my program. Okay, no problem there. That all works fine. However, I also wanna be able to edit this form as well. Once I save all this information the user selected in the form (as strings), is there a way to put it back into an html form using an uiwebview so a user of the app can edit the info later on?? I apologize in advance if I didn't give enough info.

• Mixing expressions and expression language (<%= %> inside of c:if)

  I need to access some constants in my jsp, and sadly the EL does not offer any functionality for it. There are some options like the unstandard tag library, but I'd like to keep it a bit more standard. I tried: <%@ page import = "com.jackdane.Constants"%> <c:if test="${object.display == '<%=com.jackdane.Constants.YES %>}'"> //some display logic </c:if> But that doesn't appear to do the trick. It's been a while since I've used an expression so I might have made an error. Any input is appreciated. Edit: To clarify, the constants class is not in my control. It's inside a jar file that I recieved. It contains no getters/setters. Just private static final Strings.
