    I want to retrieve the cpu usage/free percentage from mpstat output. The bash cut can be used to retrieve such details but i dont know what should be the delimiter viz.   • QWT plugin for QT 4.5

    Hi, I have gotten the latest QWT 5.1.2 for QT 4.5 and managed to get it to complie. I am now trying to get the plugin to work in QT Designer (with VS intergration). I have placed the plugin files into the plugin/designer folder, but when attempting to load, I hit this error Cannot load library qwt_desginer_plugin5.dll: The specified module cannot be found. I've done some search on this issue, one page which suggest moving the plugin to the VS intergration folder - which does not exist for Program Files\Nokia\Vs4Addin. My QT Designer is a debug-and-relase build. (That is, if I use a debug build of the plugin it would complain that it is expecting a release).

    Hi, I have a FDCC compliant workstation with FIPS 140-1 (Level 1) enabled. Now, i cannot run/debug any VS 2005/2008 applications on my machine I get the following error message on my browser Parser Error Message: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms. the Error points to line no 1 of default.aspx.cs file using system; The only way to successfully debug/run my application is to set the following registry key to 0 HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\fipsalgorithmpolicy I understand that there are some Cryptographic algorithms that are not FIPS compliant on XP SP2 but i am not using cryptography at all. For that matter, the solution contains just default.aspx page with default code in .cs file, and even that fails to run. So my question is why the webpage fails to load, and why the error points to line #1 "using System;" statement? My next question is how can i develop on FIPS compliant locked down maching where i do not have edit rights on registry Thanks kudlur

    Hello, I am using Visual Studio 2005 (with SP1) and I am getting weird errors concerning .sbr files. These files, as I read on MSDN, are intermediate files for BSCMAKE to generate a .bsc file. The errors I get are, for example (on different builds) : 11string.cpp : fatal error C1083: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier généré(e) par le compilateur : '.\debug\String.sbr' : Permission denied 58type.cpp : fatal error C1083: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier généré(e) par le compilateur : '.\Debug/Type.sbr' : Permission denied Translation : cannot open compiler intermediate file It seems to be consistent (I have at least 5 or 6 examples like this) with a .cpp file being compiled twice in the same project, respectively : 11String.cpp *some warnings, 2 lines* 11String.cpp 58Type.cpp *some warnings and other files compiled, a lot of lines* 58Type.cpp I already checked the .vcproj files for duplicate entries and it does not seem to be the problem. I would appreciate any help regarding this issue. Deactivating the build of .bsc files seems to be a workaround but maybe someone has better information than this. Thanks.

    If I have a DLL (that was built in release-mode) and the corresponding PDB file, is it possible to debug (step-into) classes/methods contained in that DLL? If so, what are the required steps/configuration (e.g. where to put the PDB file)? Edit: If have the PDB file in the same place as the DLL (in the bin/debug directory of a simple console test application). I can see that the symbols for the DLL are loaded (in the Output window and also in the Modules window), but still I cannot step into the methods of that DLL. Could this be the result of compiler optimizations (as described by Michael in his answer)?

    Hi, I am using Interop.Domino.dll API to read the NSF file and able to read the properties of the Task Document. When i view the Task Document properties in the Lotus Notes, i am able to view the Status Field, Importance Field and few others, but when i programatically dump all the Field Names and their values i am unable to get few of them as mentioned above. So, how to get all the Field Names and their values as i iterate through all the document properties. Is this the problem of IBM Lotus Notes Application or the Domino API ?     I have tried checking out the mDNSResponder source from Apple's SVN host, with the thought of compiling it and tweaking it. This failed miserably.   • Access Violation Exception only appearing when running C# app without debugger attached

    I have an application that works fine in Visual Studios 2008, and I am trying to get it into VS 2010 in order to use .NET 4, and I have a really weird problem. When I run the code from either Release mode or Debug mode with the debugger attached (F5), I have no problems running the program. However, when I run the program from either Release or Debug without the debugger attached (Shift+F5), I get an Access Violation Exception when I attempt to run some code in a dll from GDCM. I've created the dlls by using CMake and Swig and following the instructions here adjusting the instructions where necessary to build for VS 2010 and .NET 4. Does any one have any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

    Is there a way to get the path for the assembly in which the current code resides? I do not want the path of the calling assembly, just the one containing the code. Basically my unit test needs to read some xml test files which are located relative to the dll. I want the path to always resolve correctly regardless of whether the testing dll is run from TestDriven.NET, the MbUnit GUI or something else. Edit: People seem to be misunderstanding what I'm asking. My test library is located in say c:\projects\myapplication\daotests\bin\Debug\daotests.dll and I would like to get the "*c:\projects\myapplication\daotests\bin\Debug*" path.     I can successfully attach disks to a running KVM instance using virsh attach-disk... virsh attach-disk node-1 /dev/vg_lunsr/lun1 vdb Disk attached successfully ...but these new devices aren't seen by the guest without a reboot, which almost defeats the purpose of dynamic attachment. If these were SCSI devices I would use e.g. /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan to request the SCSI drivers to scan for new devices. Is there an equivalent capability for the virtio block driver?

The thing I would like to do is: I want to have a version number of the application ex. 0.0.120 I want to see this version number only in the About box or similar This version number should change everityme I hit debug or release. ex. my version was 0.0.120, after I hit debug in the FlexBuilder, the versionNumber should change to 0.0.121, but If I press Release Build, then the version should change to 0.1.0 The first number changes only when I manually change it Don't know how is this possible but if you have a tip, let me know.   • Programming on Leopard for iPhone OS 3.1.3

    Hey, I got Leopard with XCode 3.1 and SDK 3.0, when opening the organizer and trying to debug on my ipod I received "The version of iPhone OS on "..." does not match any of the versions of iPhone OS supported for development with this copy of xCode...". It tells me with my xCode I can only develop for iPhone OS 3.0 or less, so I downloaded the new xCode + SDK installation bundle, knowing the SDK can't be installed on Leopard. In the installation it tells me "If you don't want to install the SDK, press disagree", and so I did, but in the next screen he forces me to choose a drive for the SDK, and then says "you can't install the SDK on leopard system", and I can't pass this screen. My question is: is it even possible to program on Leopard for iPhone OS 3.1.3? I really want to debug my apps on my iPod (framework 3.1.3, 3G) Thanks ahead!! By the way: I can't so simply upgrade to snow leopard because it's a hackintosh, so I prefer a different way..

    I've read the lame documentation, and checked other answers. I'd like my Android app to print some debug statements in the logcat window of Eclispe. If I use the isLoggable method on the various types of debug levels on the Log class, I find that WARN and INFO are returning true. Log.w, and Log.i do not produce any output. Does anyone know which gotchas I've missed? And just to vent, why should this be hard? I've published apps for iphone and bberry and while appreciate the use of java, the platform is reeking of too many "genuiuses" being involved. I suppose Activities and Intents are very flexible, but why? I just want to put up some screens, take some input and show some results. The bberry pushscreen and popscreen is a lot less pretentious.   • New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

    Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration.   • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

    Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated. [root@srv1 bin]# In my troubleshooting steps i came across the command strace, and so i've opened two bash windows to one of the problematic server and i used strace -p PID_of_bash.
