• MBPro, mid 2010 can't see Dlink DIR655 signal after sleep etc

  This is my son's MBP 7,1 running Snow Leopard 10.6.7. Router signal is fine since iPad, Wintel on same table 20 feet from router are fine. the MBP however frequently wakes and fails to find the internet. iStumbler can see 1 neighbours hub and my garden hub are there but can't get to the normal DIR655 wifi... no ping no en0 or en1 device seems to exist. Airport off and on does not help. He just resets router and it all works but this does not please me! I must admit the winter sometimes seems to loose connect too, but less so. The DIR655 (hardware rev A3) is on the original EU firmware 1.10, I'm cautious about jumping to latest 1.31EU since no downgrade seems to be possible and that feels a bit risky as so much is set up and working fine. If I use the DIR655 admin web and release the lease the MBP has then wake it all worked OK. So I suspect lease timing/locking issue but unsure how to check up, plus why iStumbler seems to say the network is not visible at all when I sit on the iPad right next to it just fine.. I do not think there are any channel overlaps and we also have RFquiet DECT phones (Orchid) that are silent until lifted or called. Anyway signals all show low interference and high throughput except for this failure to connect. Just walked the MBP to the garden office and iStumbler now sees the more distant DIR655 signal although it will not connect to it (does not show under Sys Prefs NetNetwork names) even after airport off & on... It also refuses to connect to my garden network (an old Belkin acting as AP wired to DIR655), the signal it can see and even net name in Sys Prefs NetNetwork names (2 mins later):NOW both names ARE visible, but both fail to accept the correct WPA2 password and keep asking again after failing to connect. IT ALL MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. Just revoked the lease for the MBP on DIR655 and no changes although this seemed to help MBP wake into connection 1 hour ago. OK a bit of walking about to report. Carried MBP across garden towards DIR655, a few other wifis show up on iStumbler, low signals all channel 1. Right next to DIR655 but iStumbler not showing it, although most other wifi's have gone. I'd say iStubler is suffering timeouts&hangs but hard to be sure. Lots of attempts to Airport on/off, join other etc and suddenly I get to connect, get given new IP (I revoked), can browse. Walk away, connection drops quite soon at 30 feet then reconnected briefly then died again. MUST ATTEND ELSEWHERE FOR A BIT...

  Hi Folks, I've just switched to zsh. However, I really don't like how the time builtin command also outputs the command that it's timing. I much prefer the bash style output. Anyone know how to switch it over? • How to retrieve the size of a database in restoring mode

  With pure SQL - how to do it? I doubt it is possible, since even the SQL Management Studio fails to show the size of such a database in the UI. Already tried: exec sp_helpdb 'DbInRecMode' ...won't show anything; exec sys.sp_helpfile 'DbInRecMode' ... something like file not found (Msg 15325) Main pitfall seems to be the issue, that select * from DbInRecMode.dbo.sysfiles won't work when the database is in restoring mode. Any ideas?

  Hi there, here is the thing, I have to deploy a web app and the the log4j.properties file is created by the client so I dont have control over it. Their properties file is like this: log4j.rootCategory= FILE !-----------FILE--------------! log4j.category.FILE=DEBUG log4j.appender.FILE=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.FILE.File=${catalina.base}/logs/rcweb.log log4j.appender.FILE.MaxFileSize=1024KB log4j.appender.FILE.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.FILE.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.FILE.layout.ConversionPattern=%-2d{dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss} [%t] %5p %c:%L - %m%n And in my classes I do something like this: private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(MaterialController.class); LOG.info("my log"); But the log file has never been created. I did the test and changed the log4j.properties file and deployed in my computer adding the following line: log4j.logger.br.com.golive.requisicaoCompras=DEBUG This works, but I cant use the file like this. • READING stderr from within Awk

  I want to keep SSH debug info separate (and logged) from other input. However, if I simply redirect stderr to a log file, I risk combining output from SSH and output from the remote process on the host machine (that might send something to stderr): $ ssh -v somemachine 2 file.log So, I want to filter out only those lines that match "debug1": $ ssh -v somemachine | awk '/debug1/ {print "file.log"; next} {print}' Good so far, BUT ssh's debug output goes to stderr. So... $ ssh -v somemachine 2& | awk '/debug1/ {print "file.log"; next} {print}' Foiled again! I don't want to mix stdout and stderr. BAD! What does a kid like me do? I was about to go the route of named pipes or some such wildeness, but really, all I need to know is how to get awk to match patterns from stderr ONLY.

  In Visual Studio 2008 (and others) when creating a .NET or silverlight application if you look at your project properties, it seems like you can only have one assembly name - across all configurations. I would like to compile my application as: MyAppDebug - in debug mode and just MyApp - in release mode Does anyone know if this is possible? Edit: It seems some people are questioning the reasoning behind the question, so I'll explain a little further: I'm working on a Silverlight application which gets automatically uploaded to our test site when I to a "build solution". The trouble is, the test team are now testing the online version, whilst I work on a new one. So, I want to have a url like .\MyApp.html for the regular version that the QA team will test and then .\MyApp.html?version=debug for the current version that I'm working on.

• Oracle sysman password reset and enterprise manager

  We are running oracle 10g.yesterday we had to reset sysman(and all other sys acounts)user with alter user command. Password change command worked by oracle enterprise manager does not see the database running. As per oracle docs,we did change the password(and encryption setting) and restarted the dbconsole service. Password does get encrypted after restarted but em still does not see the database online. • What are the common issues that can cause slow boot times of Windows CE6 Images?

  I am relatively new to Platform Builder, and whilst I am able to produce nk.bin files, they boot very slowly, 80-100 seconds, so I think there may be some checkbox somewhere that I need to set (or clear)! I've already removed kitl, profiling, etc in the project settings, and set the project to 'release build' & 'ship'. When I looked at the startup event log (in debug), there doesn't appear to be any specific point where it is slow. The log pretty much scrolls all the way through with no major pauses. One thing I found strange was that although the nk.bin file was a lot smaller in release build (just under 12Mb), the boot time didn't noticeably change from the debug build... The board is a Vortex86DX_60A and I'm building CE6. Are there any 'common builder mistakes' that I may be missing here, or is this going to be something a little deeper?

  I am trying to generate static schemas using DBIx::Class in Perl. The command shown below outputs a Schema.pm and no other files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or how to to debug this? • Flex Debugger wont launch - Only on particular project.

  When trying to launch Flex debaugger on my project, it does not launch and I get an error instead. Every other project in different workspaces launches just fine. This is the only one giving me an issue. Here is the error: Process terminated without establishing connection to debugger. • Close Flash Player from FlashDevelop IDE

  Whenever I compile my project using FlashDevelop in 'Debug' the Flash Player window remains after I have clicked the 'Stop' button in Flash Develop. I have to then switch over to the flash player, click through any error messages and then close the player, which wastes a lot of time in the long run. Any way to make it so Flash Player closes when I click 'Stop' in the Flash Develop debug tools? EDIT: My setup is a fresh install of Windows 7, a new copy of Flash Develop 4 and Flash Player 10. Switching the target class version for my app (1.6 - 1.5) did not help. I use Sun JDK 1.6.0_17, Wicket 1.4.8, Jetty 6.1.24. I tried to debug, but the JRE classes have no debug data. The stacktrace is of no use as it happens when loading the classes into JVM. Any ideas what could be wrong? How can I find which class is causing this? Thanks, Ondra

• Viewing, building & debugging Borland C++ Builder project in Visual Studio 2010

  I would like to use VC2010 to handle a BCB 2006 project I have. I do not want to convert the code to VC since much UI will need to be ported. I just want to be able to view build & debug from VS IDE. Viewing: I assume once I create VS projects for the native BCB code viewing will be possible, although the UI editor will not. Building: I found the "C++ Native Multi-Targeting" option of VS, although I'm not sure on what to set the different options there to (Daffodil is mentioned as helpful although I'm not sure what the added value is over existing functionality). Debugging: not sure how to do this at all from within VS. There are some stand alone console tools that convert debug info files e.g. tds2pdb (wheres the documentation link?). If anyone has experience with such a task I would thank you for any advice.

• iOS app won't compile on device but works fine in simulator

  I'm assuming this has something to do with linking, but I've removed RestKit and re-added it. I made sure all my connections and linking was in place. If I set XCode to use the simulator it runs fine, but as soon as I set it to run on any device it won't even build. The only other thing of note is this didn't start happening till I upgraded to XCode 4.5.   I have a web service that is deployed in tomcat, and it is rejecting a soap request over https. However, I can't see any logs as to why it is doing so. I have the following set in my service endpoint implementation file: System.setProperty("javax.net.debug", "all"); System.setProperty("java.security.debug", "all"); And I pass the following parameters to tomcat: -Dcom.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.HttpAdapter.dump=true -Dcom.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump=true Is there anything else I need to do to see the internal jaxws logs?
