  • Windows XP install driver notification for AirCard

    A co-worker of mine is using an air-card. It prompted him to install software in the notification tray, but he clicked on the wrong thing and the icon went away without him installing that software. How can I get that icon back? He can't install the software then. I know that you can download the software from the site, but we did that and were having issues from that too. Restarting and trying again doesn't pop up the notification either. Thanks.

    Hello, Can anyone tell me what the compatibility of drivers on 64bit vista are like on the Dell Inspiron 1525. Mine is just a year old now and I want to upgrade to 64bit vista. I wondered if there's known issues with drivers that I should be aware of before upgrading? Tony PS: is the upgrade worth it? My machine has 3GB of RAM and runs a T5800 2.0GHz DuoCore Processor. I use Visual Studio often and have loads of things open at the same time a lot. That's why I'm considering an upgrade.

PL2303 Serial Port an modprobe usbserial raises: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/3.3.3/modules.dep: No such file or directory in the /lib/modules/ Folder there is instead a 2.6.36-Folder uname -r gives 3.3.3 How can I overcome this mismatch? Can I create a symlink? I can't flash this embedded device since it is deployed somewhere, only ssh? Please advise!

  • IP camera's multicast/RTSP conflicting with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi?

    Here at our business we have a Netgear R7000 running DD-WRT. I have been slowly adding IP cameras which I run using Blue Iris software. The last camera I bought (which is NOT a wireless camera), when I plug it into the network I start having really bad connection issues on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The 5GHz works fine, just the 2.4GHz all of the sudden has trouble connecting, as if it's conflicting. I've tried playing with the camera settings, different IP addresses, HTTP ports, etc, and discovered it to be a conflict with multicast. When multicast is checked, the Wi-Fi has issues but my video streams via Blue Iris. When unchecked, Wi-Fi works fine but the video won't stream through Blue Iris. The problem is there are no settings in the camera to change the RTSP port, which is set to 34567. Does anyone know something that could fix this issue? It all seems very strange to me but maybe someone has an idea?

    I want to broadcast live video from a playlist created by me, but the actual video files (.flv's) are stored in some external file hosting which I can't admin, but it's currently allowing the use of flash players for playing its contents (progressively). Which is the best solution for this? Can I use my current web server (Debian w/Apache) or should I use some specific server software? I've read some names such as Red5 and Wowza but I can't tell if those are solutions to my actual problem or how should I use them. Also, costs should be as low as possible for this project.

  • Nvidia restricted driver = invisible menus when using VNC

    I'm installing 9.04 on an HTPC, so I will often VNC in to work on it from my laptop. After the initial install, I updated everything, and it all went fine. I was able to VNC using Ubuntu's built-in "Remote Desktop" with no problems. I then installed the 180.xx restricted nvidia drivers and rebooted. Everything worked fine on my TV, but when I VNC'd into it, all I could see was the background and title bar. When I'd pull down a menu, the menu was visible on the TV but not over the VNC link. I assume that means the GUI was now using some sort of overlay for the menus, which is fine, but what's the best way to make them visible over VNC? Clarification: I know I can turn off all visual effects and solve the problem, but I'm looking for a way to see the menus over VNC while keeping the GUI pretty...

    Am using ROXIO 1. to copy DVD file to my computer 2. to trim a section of the video 3. to convert the file to wmv and this is where Windows Vista gives the message that the program cannot continue. 4. I have followed all of the instructions from ROXIO support to clean my system and do a new install. It still does not work Anybody know how to resolve the problem?

  • How to trim/cut clips with VLC

    I am running VLC 1.1.5 64-bit on Mac OS X 10.6.6. On the web I found instructions saying I should click on Video-Advanced Controls in the menu bar to reveal options that let me trim and cut video clips. However, there is no such option in my copy of VLC. What I want to do is cut a ~2 minute portion from the middle of a two hour footage (in MXF format that QuickTime can't open) that I've got. Is there another way to trim and cut clips of videos in VLC? Or should I use other (preferably free, Free, and open source) software? Thanks.

  • Looking for temporal upsampling / motion interpolation software

    I'm looking for something (prereably FOSS software) which can take an animation with N images as input, and which will output an animation with M frames, where M is in the range 2N to 5N or so. I believe the general technique is called "temporal upsampling" or possibly "inbetweening" (or "'tweening" for short). Note that it does need to make some effort to do motion tracking of things in the scene ("optical flow"); just fading ("dissolve") between keyframes isn't going to cut it. Googling "temporal upsampling" turns up any number of papers on the subject, but I've yet to discover any code/software (a gstreamer plugin would be perfect) I can just use to try the technique out. Any suggestions ? Additional information: "Motion interpolation" seems to be the more widely used name in the TV world for what I'm looking for. See this and the video here too. Interestingly, some cinephiles seem to hate what these technologies do to 24FPS film: e.g a comment "makes Gone With The Wind look like a soap opera shot on video".

  • Windows 8 install shows NTFS partition but asks for driver

    I have an Asus Eee PC 900HA, and I tried to install Windows 8 on it, so I created a 56GB NTFS partition and booted install from USB When I get to install it, says "some drivers are missing", but when I click Explore button, I can see the NTFS partition. I have updated the BIOS to its lastest version in Asus Support, loaded setup defaults, downloaded all the drivers I saw there and put them into the USB, but keeps asking for drivers. The BIOS has no option for the HDD to be IDE or AHCI, only Auto, ARMD and CDROM are available. Thank you very much.

    I have a Dell laptop issued by my employer, and I always find it a real pain to search for, download and maintain their drivers. It baffles me that there does not seem to be a nice way (product, website, ...) to just download the stuff you need, without hassle. The same goes for the other Windows based laptops in my direct environment. Are there any (preferably free) automated solutions available? Or do you have a nice workflow - other than searching the manufacturers website - to help smoothing this process?

  • How to play two or more videos side by side in a syncronized fashion in Linux?

    I have two (or more) video files that I want to play side by side. I could do that simply by opening them in two seperate windows, but that would also seperate all the controls (play/pause/forward/...). I want to play them in a synchronized fashion so that pause/forwarding/... works on both videos simultaneously so that they always stay at the same timecode and they don't go out of sync. How would I accomplish that in Linux? This is needed for viewing only, so compositing them into a new video file first should be avoided if possible, but if there isn't an easy way to do that, I welcome answers doing it with composition as well.

  • What's the best encoding for videos on the Zune?

    I've got videos I want to encode to put on the zune. Have the encoding software (using Expression Encoder), but I'm not sure about what I should transcode to. I used the settings built into EE for the Zune, but the sync software still shows these videos are being converted before sync. I already have to get these videos into an acceptable format, so encoding twice is a waste of time and space. What I'm looking for is a video codec, audio codec, bitrate, WxH, and anything else I need to encode a video so it goes straight from my disk onto my Zune without re-encoding.

  • What Sort of Server Setup Am I Likely to Need? - School A/V streaming

    My prior experience with servers has generally been limited to home file-sharing servers, low-traffic web-servers, and the like. This leaves me with the technical knowledge of how to set up a system, but little experience in terms of scaling said system. My current project, however, has me as the technical lead in setting up a school for online audio and video streaming. The difficulty I'm running into is that I don't quite have the experience to guess what they'll need, and they don't have the experience to tell me - so I've tried to ask as many pertinent questions about what they want to do with their server, and here's what I found out: About 1000 simultaneous users, and hoping to expand (possibly significantly) Both video and audio streaming, at obviously the highest quality possible Support for both live and playlist-based streaming. Probably only one channel, but as it's an educational opportunity, I imagine letting them have a few more wouldn't hurt. No word on whether they're locked into Windows or whether Linux is acceptable. Approximate budget - $7000. It may actually be about $2k less than this, because of a mishap with another technology firm (they ordered a $7000 DV tape deck for some reason, and now the company wants them to pay a 30% restocking fee). The tentative decisions I've already made: I'm planning on using Icecast 2 for my streaming server, fed by VLC Shoutcast encoding. Since the school already has a DMZ set up, I plan on placing the Icecast server in there, and feeding it through their intranet from a simple workstation computer in their studios. This system isn't in any way mission critical - it's an education tool (they're a media magnet school), so I figure redundancy is not worthwhile to them from a cost:benefit perspective. What I don't know is this: How powerful of a server will I need? What is likely to be my major throttle - bandwidth? How can I mitigate that? Will I need anything special for the encoding workstation other than professional video and audio capture cards and a copy of VLC? Are there any other considerations that I'm simply missing?     I'm currently putting together a website for my Luddite friend. He needs a blog, photos and videos... all easily updateable by him. WordPress and Blogger both have brilliant functionality to allow you to host your own blog on your own domain, but what about photos and videos? Does YouTube or Google videos or Vimeo or MSN Video or anyone offer the ability to easily insert a video navigation interface onto your own site? (Something similar to YouTube's "Channel" pages, except on your own domain?) Same goes for photos. I'm pretty sure FlickR doesn't allow you to easily upload and manage photos for viewing on your own domain. Does anyone else? My friend doesn't want to be editing any HTML and I don't want to be creating a complicated system to handle tons of different videos. There must a user-friendly solution in this day and age?     Skype an other applications running under windows 7 Ultimate are presenting the video captured from the laptop built-in webcam upside down. I've tried many solution that I was able to find regarding issues like this, but to no avail. From ASUSTek Forums, the thread Built-in camera upside down Both present several potential solutions to this issue, but I've been unable to fix it for the laptop ASUS U6S. What I've already tried: Changing Drivers The driver that works must be the one from Windows, all others available from ASUS drivers either don't install or install but the webcam doesn't provide any video feed. This disallows all options that concern using an older driver or editing the .inf file as to manually adjust the settings. ASUS does not provide drivers for Windows 7, so I've used drivers from Windows Vista 32 Bit. Using the application manycam This application actually solves the issue (temporarily), but creates new ones: If I use the application to flip the video feed, Skype video call cease to work. This application doesn't save the settings, at least I wasn't able to find any way to save the settings I've used to flip the video feed. A computer restart brings all back to how it was, video feed upside down and if the application is still installed, Skype continues to fail on video calls. Regedit I've searched thru Windows Registry Editor as to find any reference to the webcam settings, hopping to find a key with the Flip parameter, since it's up to the driver to flip the image (by what I could ascertain from this problem). Couldn't find any reference to such settings, either they actually don't exist within the Windows Registry or they use some weird name that I could think off. System Configuration I was able to access the webcam system settings from the Windows Device Manager, but the tab that actually has the Image Rotation setting is always disabled. The same goes for the settings available from the Skype webcam options (that essentially is presenting the same settings as Windows Device Manager, just within a custom Skype pop-up). Question: How can I flip the video feed from the laptop's built-in webcam, as to properly see and broadcast the video?

  • Frame rate upsampling codec/player/software?

    Hello, I recently noticed that when I play both HD and SD videos on my HDMI TV at 1080p 60Hz from my computer, the motion is not fluid as I would expect. As far as I know, it could be because the 24fps video needs to be upsampled by the codec to match the 60Hz output of the monitor. But, as far as I know, the upsampling is done by simply repeating each photogram for a certain amount of frames. I usually play MKV videos with VLC. Do you know if there is a player or codec that performs the upsampling by interpolation like some 100Hz TVs do? I recently saw an LG led TV play a 24fps 720p video at 100Hz with an incredible motion fluidity, and I simply wonder why can't my computer do! I have an NVidia card. Does PureVideo help? I'm a noob with these things. Thank you.

  • Are some .ogv/.ogv files possible to be corrupted, to make it not possible to loop?

    I discovered by trial and error that my one .ogv video will not loop, but if I interchange a random .ogv video from wikipedia that one does loop, and they are both called .ogv. Why is this? Is the not-looping file corrupted? EDIT! I just had a breakthrough! I discovered if I view the webpage using my computer's version of the file (not-uploaded version), then it does loop! (I open index.html on my computer, and it is a relative URL) But! The version which is uploaded onto my web server does not loop. (I changed the relative URL to an absolute URL which points to the file on my server. I tried re-uploading it, but still does not loop. If someone has an answer to why this is and how I can fix it, I will be very grateful!
