hey guys couple of quick questions 1) In the local search results - we can get a lot of parameters like street title, address, city, state, lat, long , url etc - In order for me to uniquely identify this record - can I consider URL to be unique to this address or concatenation of latitude and longitude Ref: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/reference.html#_class_GlocalResult 2) In terms of usage, depending upon what user enters, I'm displaying a list of local business for the user to choose. Now when a user selects a particular business address - is it legal for me to store that business address along with lat and longitude information in my database for future look ups. I've seen a lot of blogs talking about storing the lat/long info but just want to be sure that i'm not violating and google rules. Thanks

IFRAME renders a HTML text outside of boundaries, a bug?

IE8 in non-compatability view, Version 8.0.6001.18702 The code below represents the problem: <body><div style="height:400px;width:400px"><iframe src="http://mail.ru" height="100%" width="100%"></iframe></div></body> Scroll the IFRAME to the right to the middle of "??????? ??????? ? ???????" orange label. Alt-Tab to other window and Alt-Tab back to IE window. The internal HTML will appear ouside of IFRAME boundaries. The screenshot demonstrating the problem. Does the IFRAME rendering have a bug? May be I have an unpatched version (automatic updates are turned ON). Could you suggest a workaround except turning on Compatability View? Thank you.

Delphi Unicode String Type Stored Directly at its Address (or "Unicode ShortString")

I want a string type that is Unicode and that stores the string directly at the adress of the variable, as is the case of the (Ansi-only) ShortString type. I mean, if I declare a S: ShortString and let S := 'My String', then, at @S, I will find the length of the string (as one byte, so the string cannot contain more than 255 characters) followed by the ANSI-encoded string itself. What I would like is a Unicode variant of this. That is, I want a string type such that, at @S, I will find a unsigned 32-bit integer (or a single byte would be enough, actually) containing the length of the string in bytes (or in characters, which is half the number of bytes) followed by the Unicode representation of the string. I have tried WideString, UnicodeString, and RawByteString, but they all appear only to store an adress at @S, and the actual string somewhere else (I guess this has do do with reference counting and such). Update: The most important reason for this is probably that it would be very problematic if sizeof(string) were variable. I suspect that there is no built-in type to use, and that I have to come up with my own way of storing text the way I want (which actually is fun). Am I right? Update I will, among other things, need to use these strings in packed records. I also need manually to read/write these strings to files/the heap. I could live with fixed-size strings, such as <= 128 characters, and I could redesign the problem so it will work with null-terminated strings. But PChar will not work, for sizeof(PChar) = 1 - it's merely an address. The approach I eventually settled for was to use a static array of bytes. I will post my implementation as a solution later today.

How can I use my own connection class with a strongly typed dataset?

I have designed a class with sqlClient.SqlCommand wrappers to implement such functionality as automatic retries on timeout, Async (thread safety), error logging, and some sql server functions like WhoAmI. I've used some strongly typed datasets mainly for display purposes only, but I'd like to have the same database functionality that I use with my class. Is there an interface I can implement or a way to hook my command/connection class into the dataset at design or runtime? Or would I need to somehow write a wrapper for the dataset to implement these types of functions? if this is the only option could it be made generic to wrap anything that inherits from dataset?

Blacklisting specific roads from Google Maps/Mapquest?

I'm looking to build a custom view of a Google Maps type of application for providing directions, but I need to blacklist specific roads or sections of roads. I'm not talking just avoiding highways or Toll Roads. I've been looking through the Google Maps and Mapquest APIs but haven't found anything of use yet. Initially I'm just looking to manually blacklist specific roads that I do not want to drive on, but eventually would like there to be some sort of automatic detection or suggestion. Is there built-in functionality to support blacklisting specific roads in Google Maps or Mapquest? Or is there any known way to hack it together?

git clone fails with "index-pack" failed?

So I created a remote repo that's not bare (because I need redmine to be able to read it), and it's set to be shared with the group (so git init --shared=group). I was able to push to the remote repo and now I'm trying to clone it. If I clone it over the net I get this: remote: Counting objects: 4648, done. remote: Compressing objects: 100% (2837/2837), done. error: git-upload-pack: git-pack-objects died with error.B/s fatal: git-upload-pack: aborting due to possible repository corruption on the remote side. remote: aborting due to possible repository corruption on the remote side. fatal: early EOF fatal: index-pack failed I'm able to clone it locally without a problem, and I ran "git fsck", which only reports some dangling trees/blobs, which I understand aren't a problem. What could be causing this? I'm still able to pull from it, just not clone. I should note the remote git version is 1.5.6.5 while local is 1.6.0.4 I tried cloning my local copy of the repo, stripping out the .git folder and pushing to a new repo, then cloning the new repo and I get the same error, which leads me to believe it may be a file in the repo that's causing git-upload-pack to fail... Edit: I have a number of windows binaries in the repo, because I just built the python modules and then stuck them in there so everyone else didn't have to build them as well. If I remove the windows binaries and push to a new repo, I can clone again, perhaps that gives a clue. Trying to narrow down exactly what file is causing the problem now.

Cappuccino plist structure

The question is does anyone know what the structure of the (type-2) plist files in Cappuccino are? In Cappuccino there is a lot of use made of plist files. Some such as info.plist (type-1) follow a recognizable structure. These are fine i can inderstand them. <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CPApplicationDelegateClass</key> <string>DocumentController</string> <key>CPBundleDocumentTypes</key> <array> <dict> ..... etc However others (type-2) which are used for importing data, importing the pptx files to and from the slides application and i believe in Atlas the development tool do not. I need to implement a bi-directional communication between Microsoft Dynamics CRM and a 3rd party server. The ideal scenario is as follows: User tries to create an entity in CRM In pre-create hook a 3rd party library function is called (or web service or whatever), filled with relevant info, which tries to create the respective entity on the server If the call fails, creation fails in CRM If the call succeeds, the entity is created in the CRM AND additional fields are filled with return values from the call More specifically, I want to do something like this when user tries to create a new entity instance: try { ExternalWebService.CreateTrade(ref TradeInfo info) //this was initialized on the external server myCRM_Trade_Entity.SerialNo = info.SerialNo; CreateNew(myCRM_Trade_Entity); } catch (whatever) { fail; } What would be the suggested way to do this? I am new to Dynamics, have read about Workflows and Plugins but am not sure how should I do this properly.

Using rsync to take backup of folder

Hi, I have a server (Linux) with NAS which is mounted as folder "mount" I have website in "public_html" folder. I want to take backup of website in mount folder automatically at certain intervals for e.g. every hour. I read that there is something called "rsync" which is used to make two folders sync. And it doesn't copy all files every time and instead matches if the file has been changed and then only update changed files. How do I use it to make automatic backups? I have root access to server. Can DBRefs contain additional fields?

I've encountered several situations when using MongoDB that require the use of DBRefs. However, I'd also like to cache some fields from the referenced document in the DBRef itself. {$ref:'user', $id:'10285102912A', username:'Soviut'} For example, I may want to have the username available even though the user document is referenced. This would provide me all the benefits of a single document approach; Faster querying and eliminating the need to do manual dereferencing in my code. While at the same time allowing me to use references where they make sense. The idea being that when the referenced document is updated (a user changes their name, for example) my business layer can automatically update all the documents that reference it. Ultimately, I'm wondering if it's considered good form to store additional fields on my DBRefs? Will it break anything? Will I lose my data each time a reference is rewritten? Will drivers like pymongo support it?

Android PCM Bytes

Hi I am using the AudioRecord class to analize raw pcm bytes as it comes in the mic. So thats working nicely. Now i need convert the pcm bytes into decibel. I have a formula that takes sound presure in Pa into db. db = 20 * log10(Pa/ref Pa) So the question is the bytes i am getting from audiorecorder from the buffer what is it is it amplitude pascal sound pressure or what. I tried to putting the value into te formula but it comes back with very hight db so i do not think its right thanks

How can I store all the properties of a class in an array of objects?

Hello, Let's say I've a class myClass which has few properties, such as property1, property2, perperty3, etc. Now, I'd like to populate an array with each of those properties so that, I can access each of them through its index. Is there an automatic way of doing so? Here's an example from SportsStore (Pro ASPN.NET MVC/Steve Sanderson/Apress) on how to gather all the active controllers in the the 'Assembly'. var controllerTypes = from t in Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes() where typeof(IController).IsAssignableFrom(t) select t; foreach(Type t in controllerTypes) //Do something I wonder if there is some thing like the one above I can use to collect (only) properties of a class and store them in a array, no matter each one's type value (int, string, or custom type) I hope I was able to express myself clearly. Limiting the size of the managed heap in a C# application

Can I configure my C# application to limit its memory consumption to, say, 200MB? IOW, I don't want to wait for the automatic GC (which seems to allow the heap to grow much more than actually needed by this application). I know that in Java there's a command line switch you can pass to the JVM that achieves this.. is there an equivalent in C#? p.s. I know that I can invoke the GC from code, but that's something I would rather not have to do periodically. I'd rather set it once upon startup somehow and forget it.

How to override the behavior of Spring @Autowired

Hi a little background: I am Using Spring 2.5, and specifically spring IOC and annotations. I am using @Autowired in my code (the Autowiring is done by type) and use @Component for exposing Classes to the Automatic wiring. The situation described bellow arose while i tried to test my code. now to the problem: Note: i use a different Spring Context for the Test environment. I have a class FOO which is @Autowired but in the test context i want to use a different class of the same type MockFoo (extends FOO) The Spring Setup of course fails do so automatically due to multiple options for the Dependency Injection of the FOO class (both FOO and MockFOO comply to the Type check) I am looking for a way to inject the test bean instead of the original bean. I expected Spring to allow using the Context configurion file to override a bean injection or to order Spring not to autowire a specific bean BUT All these option seem to exists only for the beans which were originally defined in the Spring Context Configuration file

Excluding standard directories from code coverage results with C++/CLI

I have a Visual Studio 2010 .NET 4 solution with C# projects and a C++/CLI project. I use Visual Studio's built in unit tests and code coverage. Other than the fact that Visual Studio 2010 coverage tool for C++/CLI projects seems to be much weaker than Visual Studio 2008 coverage tool, I get weird results. For example, I get uncovered code in this file: c:\program files (x86)\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\xstring And some other files in that directory. I want to exclude this code from coverage results. Is there a way to put some exclude attributes on that code? If not, is there a different automatic way to exclude that code from coverage? If not, is there a way to use EXCLUDE option to exclude it? Can it be done automatically within Visual Studio without running the coverage tool from command prompt? Any other solutions?

Reporting services genius only: a fast way to get Reporting Services local site working?

Hello I was here trying to figure out why my Reports manager is empty, there's no tabs at all. I installed SQL Server 2008 complete, but didn't not configure Reporting Services. When installing SQL Server 2008, this Windows 7 version didn't have yet IIS installed, I installed it later. I don't see where is this localhost/Reports physically on my Hard Drive, where is the physic folder? I don't see on IIS where is Report folder, would it exist? The site settings people talk about, I can't find it. The "Reporting Services" service is running on automatic at SQL Server Configuration Manager. How can I get Reporting Services this working without struggling? (I can't see why is necessary to customize all these user permissions)

What is the best way to marshal a char array function argument?

Let say that given the following signature in LegacyLib.dll: int Login(SysInst *inst, char username[8], char password[6]); The simple way to marshal this function in C# would be: [DllImport("LegacyLib.dll", CharSet=CharSet.Ansi)] public static extern int Login(ref SysInst inst, string username, string password); The problem of doing it in a such a naive way is that the managed string we passed into the username or password parameter could be longer than the array bounds and this could potentially cause a buffer overrun in LegacyLib.dll. Is there a better way which overcomes this problem? i.e. is there any quick [MarshalAs(…)] magic that I could use to counter that?
