  Hi, I am have two mining models, both are time series. One is [Company_Inputs] and the other is [Booking_Projections]. What I want to do is use EXTEND_MODEL_CASES to join the results of [Company_Inputs] as the extended cases. So basically something like: Select Flattened PredictTimeSeries([Bookings], 1, 6, EXTEND_MODEL_CASES) FROM [Booking_Projections] Natural Prediction Join (Select Flattened PredictTimeSeries([Metric1], 1, 6) From [Company_Inputs]) AS T This code of course doesn't work, but the idea is to use the predictions made from [Company_Inputs] as cases for predicting future values of [Booking_Projections] If anyone has an idea of how I can accomplish this I would appreciate it very much.

• How to clear cache for previously installed InfoPath forms on a client computer?

  Hi folks, We recently had a strange issue with an InfoPath 2007 form being opened from SharePoint 2007 and receiving the error message "the system cannot find the file specified". To be clear, this was not a form services enabled form. Anyway, after spending way too much time trying to figure out what was going on (nothing in the MOSS 2007 server log files), we determined that the user had previously installed an older version of the form (but with the same name) on their workstation using a no longer available msi file (meaning we could not uninstall it from the workstation). So I wanted to pass on a very simple solution for anyone who is unfortunate to run into this problem in the future (since I lost a great deal of hair over it): Fire up regedit, go to HKEY_LOCALMACHINE-Software-Microsoft-Office-InfoPath-SolutionsCatalog. Locate the key that has the previously installed form name, and delete it. This will cause InfoPath to stop trying to open the form locally (which is either old or doesn't exist) and force it to open your form from SharePoint. Hope this helps someone!

  Hello, I've been thinking for a while on what to store at the Project Settings, objects or numeric/string representations of those objects to set a rule and avoid thinking on this at the future so I want to take the best approach. On one side storing object representations grants you that what is stored is valid and saves you from doing conversions each time you access them. You only need objects with the attribute. At the other side storing the numeric/string representation of an object eases the editing of the setting because at the end the user will be entering numeric or string information. What do you do with this issue?

  Hello guys, I am new to XMPP. I am using Openfire server, and created a console client using Smack library. My usecase: All users anonymous, logged in (In future, website visitors) will be able to see other anonymous, logged-in users. And they can initiate a private chat (one-to-one) with any of them. So, I am able to logged in as Anonymous user, but I am not able to see other Anon / Logged in users (using Roster), because they are not in anon user's roster. So, What should be configuration OR custom=component/code to to achieve this usecase? Do I need to create server component? Any hint? OR It can be done using proper configuration? Cheers

• How to implement a syndication receiver? (multi-client / single server)

  I have to come up with a system architecture. A few hundred remote devices will be communicating over internet with a central server which will receive data and store it in a database. I could write my own TCP/IP based protocol use SOAP use AJAX use RSS anything else? This is currently seen as one way (telemetry, as opposed to SCADA). Would it make a difference if we make it bi-directional. There are no plans to do so, but Murphy's law makes me wary of a uni-directional solution (on the data plane; I imagine that the control plane is bi-directional in all solutions (?)). I hope that this is not too subjective. I would like a solution which is quick and easy to implement and for others to support and where the general "communications pipeline" from remote deceives to database server can be re-used as the core of future projects. I have a strong background in telecomms protocols, in C/C++ and PHP.

  When I was still a young developer, I started to focus on the many available programming languages. But in 1980 to 1990 there weren't many freely available compilers. So I started with several BASIC dialects for home computers, Pascal and C on my PC, I did an exam in COBOL and dabbled a bit in Assembly and a few other languages. And at one point I took a short look at Forth. That's over 20 years ago and I've learned a lot ever since. I know that Forth is still used these days. It's still a good programming language but since I focus mostly on Windows development, I just wonder if knowing Forth could be helpful for future projects of mine. So, would it be practical for an experienced developer to learn more about Forth?

  Hi, I'm trying to build some kind of a social game in facebook, where I need that every user that has approved my APP is able to receive notifications from me. When the user approves my App, I save his UID in the DB for future reference. At some later time, I want to make it possible for other users find partners for a game - so I need a way to pick randomly some user from my DB and check if he's online. Then, send him a message and propose to play with the current player. So 2 questions: How can I check if some user is online, using Javascript SDK? It seems that in the new Graph API I can't get the users' online status. How can I then send him a message and propose to play the game? • How to deploy and configure many copies of an application to multiple domains on the same server

  We are about to begin work on an application that will eventually be deployed many times on one server. I am hoping to build a nice interface so that one of my coworkers can easily create new deployments of this application. The idea is to create a wizard with a series of options that will configure basic properties of each particular copy of the app such as color scheme, domain name, etc. Each copy of the application may be further tweaked independently down the line. I would like to know what is the best way to manage the automatic creation of users, the updating of domain name info and the deploying of copies of an application, with the ability to maintain certain discrepancies between each of these copies (such as installed plugins, different CSS) as we update the application in the future. What I'm asking is extremely similar to the way StackExchange 1.0 functioned, where a user could configure several options and a customized version of the StackExchange would soon be up and running. How is this accomplished?

Now I am choosing between JQuery+JQueryUI, Dojo and ExtJS. What should I choose? 1st priority is power and functionality, 2nd priority is beauty and maintainability of code and ease of use, 3rd priority is flexibility and modularity, 4th priority is speed and size. IE compatibility hardly matters, I'd like it to be modern, legacy-free and standard-conformant.

• How do people manage changes to common library files stored across mutiple (Mercurial) repositories?

  This is perhaps not a question unique to Mercurial, but that's the SCM that I've been using most lately. I work on multiple projects and tend to copy source code for libraries or utilities from a previous project to get a leg up on starting a new project. The problem comes in when I want to merge all the changes I made in my latest project, back into a "master" copy of those shared library files. Since the files stored in disjoint repositories will have distinct version histories, Mercurial won't be able to perform an intelligent merge if I just copy the files back to the master repo (or even between two independent projects). I'm looking for an easy way to preserve the change history so I can merge library files back to the master with a minimum of external record keeping (which is one of the reasons I'm using SVN less as merges require remembering when copies were made across branches). Perhaps I need to do a bit more up-front organization of my repository to prepare for a future merge back to a common master.

• Microsoft sublanguage string to locale identifier

  I can't seem to find a way to convert, or find, a local identifier from a sublanguage string. This site shows the mappings: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd318693(v=VS.85).aspx I want the user to enter a sublanguage string, such as "France (FR)" and to get the local identifier from this, which in this case would be 0x0484. Or the other way around, if a user enters 0x0480 then to return French (FR). Has anyone encountered this problem before and can point me in the right direction? Otherwise I'm going to be writing a few mapping statements to hard code it and maintain future releases if anything changes. BTW, I'm coding in C++ for Windows platform. Cheers

  As noted by the title, what is the best way to configure an IIS 6.0 deployment of an ASP.NET MVC application such that connections to hidden shares are ignored? The application in question is using wildcard mapping to allow for clean URLs since we are planning on upgrading to IIS 7.0 in the near future and we are also handling the caching and compression issues with a custom library so we would like to avoid turning wildcard mapping off unless absolutely necessary.   Asserts can't be caught. This is good because some errors I don't want to be wrapped in try/catch, at least not on the development server. But Asserts seem awefully dangerous.   Never been a lisp user, so don't take me as too dense while reading this. But what is lisp used for today ? I know there are several variants of the language in existence, at least one which will keep it alive commercially for a while longer (AutoLisp, VisualLisp - pretty big support from Autodesk) ... but I don't meet everyday people using it. So if you can shed some light on the matter - what is it's primary target market nowadays ? And what do you believe its future will be ... will it become just another support language in few apps, or is it going somewhere ? Also, apart from "an editor whose name shall not be spoken" what other apps keep it as a support language ?

• Self-signed ceritificates for many users/browsers/sites

  Here is my problem - I have a lot of users using different browsers accessing many internal web sites using https. I can create my own Certificate Authority, than create a certificate for each server and after that have all the users import it. Obviously, it cannot work in reality - there are too many users and too many sites, and some sites will be added in the future. I'm looking for a way to automate this. Is there a way to create a certificate so that all major browsers (IE, FF, Opera, Chrome and Safari) would trust it for all servers ? If so, what is the best way to install it automatically in all major browsers ?

• Max tcp/ip connections on Windows Server 2008

  I have .Net service that listens on single port over TCP protocol. Clients connect and then transmit data for some time (from few minutes to several hours). Is there any limit on number of connections on Windows 2008 server? I did not hit any, since now there is up to 50 users. Plan is to have thousands of users, so I'd like to know if there will be problems in future. Edit: As Cloud answered, it seems that there are some limits in some versions of Windows Server 2008. Is there any reference on those limits? I tried Google, but it returns articles on limit on half-bound tcp connections.

• Site images don't refresh after setting expired headers on .htaccess

  I have a site that uses a CSS sprite for all the images. I set the .htaccess file to set the expired headers to a future time as they recommend to improve site performance. However, when I updated the sprite image none of my browsers on two different computers seem to fetch the new image. I deleted the .htaccess serveral times but no luck. I am sure this must be easy as pie to fix but right now I am out of options.   I'm trying to implement the Variable envelope return path (VERP) method to manage email addresses (ie when an email I send bounces back I want it to be sent to a specific email address so that I can update my database to avoid sending emails to that email address in the future). According to this article it is possible to specify the email address a bounce email is sent to. How do you do this in .Net? For example say I ([email protected]) want to send an email to you ([email protected]). If [email protected] doesn't exist anymore I want yourserver to send the bounce email to [email protected]). This way when I receive this bounced email I know that [email protected] is not a valid email address anymore and I can update my database accordingly. In this example, the bounce address would be: [email protected] How do you specify it using System.Net.Mail?

  I have a question about how I setup my BO's. I setup the BO's to contain all of my properties of the object as well as the business logic to satisfy the business rules. I decided to make all of the methods static, but I'm not sure if that was the right decision. Someone told me to split my BO's into an Entity Object of just properties and then a BO of just methods that do business rules, and don't make the methods static. Does anyone have some experience with the way i've set this up? Any examples of how it might work better for future growth? Thanks!

• A Good Final High School AP Computer Science Programming Project?

  Hey guys this question might seem very specific but I am in need of some ideas for a project to do for my last month or so in my AP Computer Science class. I've been looking at some college final ideas and a lot of them just seem plain boring. At first I thought about writing a IRC client in JAVA but I wouldn't really be learning anything "new" that would help me in the future. Then I thought about doing IPhone/touch apps (I don't have an adroid phone and I can easily get my hands on an itouch) but I would need ideas to make apps for that. I want to do something that is going to feel trivial and need some explanation but will also help me in the long run learning new concepts in computer science. If you guys could help out I would greatly appreciate it. I really only have a month to do this project so try to keep the project inside of that range. Also, I don't mind learning new languages. Thanks :)
