    Hello All... I have Postcode in my large database, which contains values like SL5 9JH, LU1 3TQ etc. Now when I am pasting above postcode to maps.google.com it's pointing to a perfect location.. My requirement is like I want to pass post codes to maps.google.com and it should return a related latitude and longitude of that pointed location, that I want to store in my database. So, most probably there should be some javascript for that... If anybody have another idea regarding that please provide it.. Thanks in advance...

  • Google Gadgets and external scripts

    I'm trying to create my first custom Google Gadget to be used privately in my company's Google Sites intranet. Ideally I'd like to just show a thumbnail that the user can click that will open a modal window with the full video. This requires my including a couple of small JS libraries in my widget. For my widget I created this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Video Demos" /> <Content view="url" href="http://www.website.com/_gadgets/video.php"> </Content> </Module> The "video.php" page has simple HTML on it and includes two JS files for the modal window using but doesn't work. Are you not able to include external scripts like this? If not, what are my options here?

    I'm developing a small pet project on Google App Engine and i would like to keep code under source control using github; this will allow a friend of mine to checkout and modify the sources. I just have a directory with all sources (call it PetProject) and Google App Engine development server points to that directory. Is it correct to create a repo directly from PetProject directory or is it preferable to create a second directory mirroring the develop PetProject directory? In the latter case, anytime my friend will release something new, i need to pull fetch from Git copying the modified files to the develop PetProject directory. If i decide to keep the repo inside the develop directory, skipping .git on Gae yaml is enough? What are the best practices here?

    For my Grails application I want to set up Google Analytics to track only "partial" url's. I 'll explain: a typical Grails url consists of the following parts: domain + application-name + controller + action + id e.g. www.mydomain.com/myapp/controller/action/12345 As far as I understand for Google Analytics the page to be tracked is identified by the entire url. For my purpose I'm not interested in the id part of the url: I want to know which actions have been performed, but I need not know for which id the action was executed. And of course I would like a generic solution, because I have multiple controllers and multiple actions... Maybe some kind of filter stating "I want to track pages 3 levels deep (/myapp/controller/action)" would do? Or a filter stating "exclude everything from url after the last /"?     I am trying to publish an Atom/RSS feed in my Java based Google App Engine code. I have tried using Rome and keep getting the following error (tried googling without success), also the code I am running that generates the error is the demo code (so I get the feeling Rome won't work with GAE) java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdom/JDOMException at com.sun.syndication.io.SyndFeedOutput.<init>(SyndFeedOutput.java:44) What I am looking for is recommendations for a simple Java library to create and publish an Atom feed from within Google App Engine.     Using a google code svn as a basic maven repository is easy. However, using mvn site:deploy efficiently on google code seems hard. So far, I found only these solutions: * Deploy to a local file:/// and use a PERL script to delete the old and copy the new * Use wagen-svn to deploy. This is very slow (hours!) and does not delete old files * Plus all mime-types are wrong I am looking for a solution that allows new developers in my projects to check out the current source and just use it, without requiring to install PERL or learn weird steps to perform or wait hours.

  • Recommendations for a google finance-like interactive chart control

    I need some sort of interactive chart control for my .NET-based web app. I have some wide XY charts, and the user should be able to interactively scroll and zoom into a specific window on the x axis. Something that acts similar to the google finance control would be nice, but without the need for the date labels or the news event annotations. Also, I'd prefer to avoid Flash, if that's even possible. Can someone please give some recommendations of something that might come close? EDIT: the "real" google timeline visualization is for date-based data. I just have numeric data. I tried to use that control for non-date data, but it seems to always want to show a date and demands that the first data column actually be a date.

    For my little framework Pyxer I would like to to be able to use the Google AppEngine datastores also outside of AppEngine projects, because I'm now used to this ORM pattern and for little quick hacks this is nice. I can not use Google AppEngine for all of my projects because of its's limitations in file size and number of files. A great alternative would also be, if there was a project that provides an ORM with the same naming as the AppEngine datastore. I also like the GQL approach very much, since this is a nice combination of ORM and SQL patterns. Any ideas where or how I might find such a solution? Thanks.

    I have a relatively extensive sqlite database that I'd like to import into my Google App Engine python app. I've created my models using the appengine API which are close, but not quite identical to the existing schema. I've written an import script to load the data from sqlite and create/save new appengine objects, but the appengine environment blocks me from accessing the sqlite library. This script is only to be run on my local app engine instance, and from there I hope to push the data to google. Am I approaching this problem the wrong way, or is there a way to import the sqlite library while running in the local instance's environment?

  • Cannot see my wordpress website on google search

    Hi guys I recently uploaded a site made with wordpress. The site url is oakabeachvolley.gr I have set on the privacy settings of wordpress for the site to be visible by search engines. However after almost 45 days the site is invisible on google even when I'm searching using the url name and very specific keywords. Since I have made quite a few sites with wordpress I have never seen this behavior before. Sites will eventually be visible to google engine, sometimes even in the first day. However in this case the site does not show nowhere in the first 20 pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • OpenID token from Google (using www)?

    I've come across the following situation when using OpenID and Google as the authenticator. If you type siteName.com it takes you to http://sitename.com Which returns a different token than if I were to login to www.siteName.com, which would take me to http://www.siteName.com As a result, Google returns a different authentication token. Is there a simple fix around this? Maybe redirect the user from siteName.com to www.siteName.com? Would this be a server issue, or is this something I can do programmatically? Thanks in advance for any answers, this question had plagued me for some time now as I just figured out why others had been receiving different credentials upon logging in.

    Hey guys, I'm working on a google app engine (with Django) and I just can't figure out what's a good practice for folder hierarchy.. I've looked at this: Project structure for Google App Engine but one thing isn't clear - what if I have static folder (like js files) that are unique to my app, not project? where do they go? my current hierarchy is: proj static ** js ** css myapp ** templates So when a template inside my app sends a GET for js/script.js. this gets redirected to /myapp/js/script.js, which my server doesn't recognize. here is my project url.py: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^myapp/', include('myapp.urls')), ) and here is my myapp.urls.py: urlpatterns = patterns('myapp.views', (r'^$', 'myapp.views.index'), ) how should I rearrange this to work? thanks!

  • Printable Version of Google Visualizations DataTable

    I have a custom routing application that takes information for a route from google maps. It then creates a Google Visualizations DataTable to hold all the steps in the route. My current problem is that in order to reduce overflow for very large routes, I have enabled paging in the options of the DataTable. This leads to a not so printer friendly version because only the portion of the data that is shown in the table will be printed. The other portions of the table are loaded dynamically by the API when you click prev and next. Is there a not so hard way to get the DataTable to be printer friendly when it comes time without sacrificing the ability to have paging enabled?

  • Fetch pages translated by Google? (PHP)

    Hi, I have a bunch of big txt files (game walkthroughs) that I need translating from English to French. My first instinct was to host them on a server and use a PHP script to automate the translation process by doing a file_get_contents() and some URL manipulation to get the translated text. Something like: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=fr&sl=en&u=http://mysite.com/faq.txt I found it poses two problems: 1) there are frames 2) the frame src values are relative (ie src="/translate_c?....") so nothing loads. Is there any way to fetch pages translated via Google in PHP (without using their AJAX API as it's really not suitable here)?
