  I'm getting the following event log entry when I turn on tracing in CRM using the Crm Diagnostics Tool. Any ideas why it's not picking up the correct directory to place the files? CrmTrace encountered a failure creating or opening the file named C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Trace\CRM-SERVER-CrmAsyncService-bin-20091106-1.log. • How to enable WMI Provider MSCluster on MS Server 2008 R2

  I have successfully set up a failover cluster on Microsoft Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. Now I want to talk to the MSCluster WMI Provider on said server. WMI Queries to e.g. CIMV2 successed. But queries like select * from MSCluster_ResourceGroup where MSCluster_ResourceGroup.Name=\"testserver\" fail with "Access denied". I am using a domain admin account. Do I have to enable the MSCluster WMI Provider? What am I missing?

• MediaWiki on MS Sql Server

  Hello all, I've been doing some digging on running mediawiki on sql server instead of mySQL, but haven't come across any concrete information. All of our servers are running SQL Server so I'd like to stick with that. I've tried Screwturn wiki, which is an ASP.NET wiki implementation using SQL Server, but I'm not terribly happy with the editing interface, and would really like to get MediaWiki up and running. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!

• We have no SW Firewall behind our office HW firewall, admin says its not req'd

  I've recently changed jobs and I've been set up with a new workstation. On all previous places where I've been working they've had some sort of local firewall installed on each and every workstation - but here I've been told not to activate it because it is not necessary since we're already behind a HW Firewall. To me this seem a bit naïve, but I cannot emphasise it. I always thought a local firewall was good practice, ie. if something managed to come through the hw firewall there might be a slight chance other computers on the lan would block the internal threath. We got free access to internet and we got a virus checker installed.

• using remote MS Access database which connects to remote SQL server

  Hi, We have a Microsoft Access database + application (on Server A) which connects to a remote SQL server (Server B) using System DSN ODBC connection (on Server A) to the SQL database server. The users are open this Access database remotely as it is on a shared location on the server A. They still have to create a local ODBC connection on their computers to connect to Server B. Is there anyway that they can access the Access database and not have to create a local ODBC connection? thanks in advance

• IIS6.0 asking for credentials after MS Updates

  We have an IIS6.0 Server running on a Windows 2003 Server. Last weekend it went though maintenance, and updated a quite a few Windows updates, it is now brought up to current updates (as of March 29th). Previous to these updates we could connect to the Web page via the hostname or via a alias (there is a DNS and a WINS alias (the alias is the same name in both) that are both pointing to the system). Now since the updates it asks for credentials to access the page, when trying to access the page via IP, or by name. If you use the alias it will go right into the page. I had added a new alias in DNS and tried to access it via this name with the same effect. So it appears that the WINS alias allows the page to show up properly. I have seen this KB but http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871179 though not sure if it really is relevant to this issue. As it does refer to the 3 strikes rules to display the 401.1 error. The IIS Application pool is running under a domain account. Teh default page is allowing Anonymous login under a local account. Any thoughts? Thanks Adam

  I've had a few documents across my desk that appear to have a corrupted or recursive style for much of the body text: Char char char char char char Does anyone know what causes this and how to permanently delete this style? When I try to delete it, it disappears from the Styles and Formatting pane of Word, only to reappear later when different text is selected. Input or guidance much appreciated.

• Microsoft Office 2010 start page numbering on page 5

  This is driving me absolutely insane. I want to start the page numbering on page 5 and for it to continue to the end of the document. I've tried using page/section breaks but that didn't work. I've also tried pressing ctrl + F9 while in the footer and adding it in the format { if{ page } < 5 "{ page *roman }" "{ page }" } but that doesn't work either. Does anyone have any ideas? I've been trying to fix this for the past hour.

• All the Gear and No Idea: Suggestions for re-designing my home/office/entertainment network

  Help/ Advice/ Suggestions please: I have a load of kit that I love but which currently operate in disconnected, sometimes counter-productive way. Because I never really had a masterplan I just added these things one after another and connected them up in ad hoc ways. Since I bought my Macbook I've found I spend much less time on the MacPro that was until then my main machine. Perversely, as my job involves writing .Net software, I spend a lot of Mac time actually inside a Windows 7 VM. I stream media from the HP box to the PS3 and thus to the TV, but its not without its limitations/annoyances. We listen to each other's iTunes libraries but the music files are all over the place and it would be good to know they were all safely in one location (and fully backed up). I need to come up with a strategy that will allow me to use all the kit for work, play (recording live music, making tunes, iMovie work), pushing/streaming media to the TV and sharing files with my other half (she uses a Windows laptop and her iPod touch). Ideally I'd like to be able to work on any of the machines and have a shared homedrive that was visible to all machines so all my current files were synced up wherever i was. It would be great if I could access everything securely and quickly over the web. I'd also like to be able to set up a background backup process. The kit list thus far: Apple MacPro 8GB/3x250GB RAID0 + 1TB Apple MacBook Pro 13" 8GB/250GB - I spend a lot of my work time on a Windows 7 VM on this. Crappy Acer laptop (for children's use - iPlayer, watching movies/tv files) HP Proliant Server 4GB/80GB+160GB+300GB Sun Ultra 10 2 x 80GB (old, but in top-notch condition) PS3 160GB iPod Classic 2 x 8GB iPod Touch Observations: Part of the problem is our dual use of Windows and OS X - we can't go for a pure NT style roaming profile. Because the server is also used for hosting test/beta applications and a SQL Server db, it can't be dedicated to file serving. The two Macs really could do with sharing a roaming profile or similar. I'd love to be able to do something useful with the Ultra 10. My other half has been trying to throw it away for over five years now and regularly ask what function it serves in my study :-( I've got no shortage of 500GB external USB hard drives iMovie files are very large and ideally would be processed on a RAID system. Apple's TimeMachine isn't so great. If anyone could suggest all or part of a setup that would fulfil some of my requirements I'd be very grateful. I am willing to consider purchasing one or two more bits of kit (an Apple TV and a Squeezebox have been moted by friends) if they will help make efficiencies rather than add to the chaos and confusion. While Installing MSSQL05 Instance I choose to use windows authentication. But now I got a problem and my database engine is not running, actually no components are working except I am just able to login to Integration service. • Associating multiple data with a single entry in Open Office Base

  I'm trying to build a database that I can use to track prices of groceries on certain dates. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to have a single entry associate with multiple data. For example, carrots. The index would be carrots. Then, a few categorizing fields (ie, Produce|Vegetable) Then, I can enter a price, date that the price was valid, store that was selling for said price, etc. And the next time I buy carrots, I can just add a new set of pricing data that would be associated with the original carrots entry. I know very little about database building, so if anyone has something I could just modify, I would greatly appreciate it. Alternatively, a step by step tutorial would be great.

• Office 365 Powershell - Export user, license type, and company field to csv file

  I need to be able to export user name or email address (doesn't matter which), company (from the company field under the organization tab in a user account of the exchange admin console), and license type (e.g. exchange online e1, exchange online kiosk etc...) I am able to export both values in two statements into two separate files but that doesn't do me much good. I can export the username and license type with the following: Get-MSOLUser | % { $user=$_; $_.Licenses | Select {$user.displayname},AccountSKuid } | Export-CSV "sample.csv" -NoTypeInformation And, I can get the company values with the following: Get-User | select company | Export-CSV sample.csv Someone on another forum suggested this - $index = @{} Get-User | foreach-object {$index.Add($_.userprincipalname,$_.company)} Get-MsolUser | ForEach-Object { write-host $_.userprincipalname, $index[$_.userprincipalname], $_.licenses.AccountSku.Skupartnumber} That seems like it should work but it doesn't display any license info in my powershell, it's just blank. Also I wouldn't know how to export that to a csv file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• MS Server 2003 Activiation Loop

  Recently we had a motherboard failure on a terminal server so we replaced the faulty motherboard, re-setup the RAID arrays (same motherboard but still wouldn't recognize old RAID setup) and continued to recover the system from a previous backup. No problem up to here, after restoring the system you are prompted to reboot and than login. On login we get a message box stating that Windows needs to be activated do you want to activate now, press yes but than the OS proceeds to log you off and do nothing at all. You can try over and over but to no avail. Found a few articles about a glitch in the activation script and how to reset it, tried that with the same results. Hoping someone can share some knowledge if you have seen this before? Thanks!

  I am trying to show the Days between NOW() and the dates (dd/mm/yy) in, either Column B or Column C - depending which one is NOT blank A B C 29/03/10 01/04/10 29/03/10 02/04/10 29/03/10 30/04/10 29/03/10 31/03/10 29/03/10 03/04/10 I currently have the formaul below and then drag it down, but it obviously means I need to go back and amend the 'errors'. =DAYS360(A1,B1) I always forget how to nest this type of NULL/BLANK thing so any help, or pointers to remember would be appreciated. • MS Word 2007 Mail Merge fails on ZIP codes with leading Zeros (eg. 01234)

  I have an Excel Spreadsheet with a ZIP code column. For some dumb reason the original spreadsheet I got had all the zip codes stored as numbers, so a ZIP code like 01234 was stored as 1234. Easy to fix with "Format Column" as "Special = ZIP Code". All values like 1234, show up as 01234. Great! When I import it into Word via Mail Merge (to print address labels), the ZIP codes on all the addresses starting with a leading zero (like 01234) revert to their old form (1234). How do I fix this?

• MS SQL Server and "No Hard Drive Space Left"

  Got a server running a document delivery system on it. The machine is running extremely poorly (Windows XP). I've checked the regular things, like doing a memtest (turned out fine) and trying to degraf the HDD (not needed). The only thing weird about this machine is that its running MSSQL server. And Symantec Anitvirus. (ugh) Sometimes the machine reports "No hard drive space left". I immediately look at the one hard drive at the machine and it still has 20 gigs left. Each and every time. Could MSSQL server cause this? Could this be tied to the machine's terrible performance? Thanks!

However, you can not split a test so I do not want the next test to begin if there is not enough time within the specified working hours of the day to complete it. Also, I would like to begin each day with a set-up period before the actual testing can begin. • ms sql 2005 server role problem

  On one of our sql 2005 servers we are no longer able to give any users server roles (ex. sysadmin). It appears to be successful both through the UI and through code. But when we check in the db and in the UI the role is unchecked and not shown for the user in the master db. Permissions don't seem to be the issue as we are testing this as system administrator levels of access. There are also no errors in the log. Any ideas? Thanks, Brandon

  I quite often use the handy subnet calculator here: http://www.subnet-calculator.com/ Which I find very useful. However, does anyone have details/a link for a version of this that offers similar functionality but is in an excel spreadsheet. • Scripting a database copy from MS Sql 2005 to 2008 without detach/backup/RDP

  My goal is to move a single SQL 2005 database to a seperate 2008 server. The issue is my level of access to both servers. On each I can only access the database and nothing else. I cant create a backup file or detach the database because I don't have access to the file system or to create a proxy. I've tried using the generate script function of sql 2005 management studio express to restore the schema but receive command not supported errors when attempting to execute the sql on the new database. Similarly I tried using EMS SQL Manager 2005 Lite to script a backup of the schema and data but ran into similar problems. How do I go about acomplishing this? I can't seem to find any solutions outside of using the detach and backup functions.

With the addition of the second DSL line, I'm potentially going to have two separate LANs. How can I set it up so that the new LAN still has access to the Network Printer, but ensure that they are still using the new DSL line?
