  • Linux (lsusb) not showing String Descriptors of a USB device

    I have an embedded device that when plugged to a linux host, shows up with vid and pid that are not in the usb.ids file (proprietary IDs). However I provide String Descriptors that do show up when plugged into a Windows Host. But not on a Linux Host. lsusb -v shows only iManufacturer 3 iProduct 2 iSerial 1 But on the device side, when processing the setup requests, I see that the Strings are actually requested by the Host. By Windows and also the Linux Host. The USB Device Tree Viewwer under Windows shows this output: iManufacturer : 0x01 Language 0x0409 : "My Manufacturer" iProduct : 0x02 Language 0x0409 : "MyProduct" iSerialNumber : 0x03 Language 0x0409 : "My Serial" I feel that lsusb does not show all of the information. Is there a more informative tool?

  • Windows 8 apps not connecting to internet with USB dongle/modem

    The question pretty much says it all. I have Windows 8 Professional 64-bit and my main/only method of getting connected to the internet is to use this USB dongle/modem I have. Now it works perfectly, but when I go into the Windows "store" app it keeps on saying that I'm not connected to the web. In fact this happens for all "apps", they all think I'm not connected to the web when I actually am. Normal desktop applications e.g. browsers run fine. Is this a bug that has still not been resolved or is there some setting I need to go mess with? Thanks in advance!

  • dell E6500 laptop will not hibernate/standby

    I am using a Dell E6500 laptop with windows XP on it, it was originally tagged/installed with Windows Vista. My issue is, when I close the lid, it will not either Hibernate or Standby. If I close the lid with either of these options, I then have to startup from scratch, and anything I had open is not open. I just want to close the lid, have it keep what I have running, not use power util I open the lid again and start it up (with the stuff still open I had open of course). Suggestions?

  • Access to certain files but not others

    Hoping someone can help me as I have, thus far, been unable to solve the issue. I am running a media center utilizing Ubuntu 12.04. I was initially successful accessing media files from the desktop running Ubuntu via my Windows 7 laptop and Roku device. I started backing up a new batch of DVD's I had (into MKV files, like everything else in my media folders) and noticed I cannot access the new files from either the Roku or the laptop. I have not changed any settings in the media folder and verified the shared permissions. The parent folder (Media) is shared (with permission flow-down) while the subfolders (Movies, TV Shows, Music) are not. I have changed the permissions on this to include shared when the access problem arose but with no success. I can only access the original files uploaded an not new files added. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    i have installed 2 windows 7 3 windows server 2008 I am trying to sign in with the second windows 7 machine as a user but i can not. What is the solution ? Thank you ! I use Vmplayer. With the second macine (windows 7) i try to log in with one of the user name example:JOwens after hit enter i get user name or password not correct. I try with other user name i have 25 and the same . I could sing in only with one of them. I joied to the Domain. I can not sign in with the users.

    I'm trying to configure a VPN tunnel between an Android device running 4.1 and a Fedora 17 Linux box running strongSwan 5.0. The device reports that it is connected and strongSwan statusall returns that there is an IKE SA, but doesn't display a tunnel. I used the instructions for iOS in the wiki to generate certificates and configure strongSwan. Since Android uses a modified version of racoon this should work and since the connection is partly established I think I am on the right track. I don't see any errors about not being able to create the tunnel.   • Uncompiled WCF on IIS7: The type could not be found

    Hello, I've been trying to follow this tutorial for deploying a WCF sample to IIS . I can't get it to work. This is a hosted site, but I do have IIS Manager access to the server. However, in step 2 of the tutorial, I can't "create a new IIS application that is physically located in this application directory". I can't seem to find a menu item, context menu item, or what not to create a new application. I've been right-clicking everywhere like crazy and still can't figure out how to create a new app. I suppose that's probably the root issue, but I tried a few other things (described below) just in case that actually is not the issue. This is "deployed" at http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalcService/Service.svc . The error says: The type 'Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found. I also tried to create a virtual dir (IISHostedCalc) in dotnetpanel that points to IISHostedCalcService . When I navigate to http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalc/Service.svc , then there is a different error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection.     Hello, I having problem connecting a NOkia cell phone to my home wifi network. The wifi network is provided by a wireless card in a machine running Debian Testing and 2.6.26-2-686 kernel. The cars is D-Link DWL-G520 working in ap mode and has WPA encryption enabled. The wireless network is provided by hostapd using madwifi driver. Windows and Mac machines work properly with this wifi network. If I switch off dnsmasq dhcp queries logging, i.e. if I decrease the verbosity of the log, all I see are two lines of DHCPDISCOVER(ath0) and DHCPOFFER(ath0) repeatedly in the log with no acceptance by the cell phone. It appears as though the phone is not accepting the dhcp offer. However, if I give the phone a static IP address in its configuration, it works properly on the wifi network.     I am working with JSF 1.1, Ajax4JSF. What I find is if I enable a4j:support for some of JSF's inputText items, it is not working as expected. I have something like this in the code <h:inputText value="#{bean.desc}"> <a4j:support event="onkeyup" reRender="id"/> </h:inputText> And what I find is, sometimes it does not work, for example, I type TEST on the input text box and what transfers is only the "T" to the backing bean. One more problem that I see is, when I submit the form, some of the values are not getting set in the backing bean. The setter methods are not called at all. I do not think this is working properly in my env, is it this combination of JSF1.1,Ajax4JSF and websphere6.1 is not supported or is there anyway I can troubleshoot this ?

  • Deploying WCF Tutorial App on IIS7: "The type could not be found"

    Hello, I've been trying to follow this tutorial for deploying a WCF sample to IIS . I can't get it to work. This is a hosted site, but I do have IIS Manager access to the server. However, in step 2 of the tutorial, I can't "create a new IIS application that is physically located in this application directory". I can't seem to find a menu item, context menu item, or what not to create a new application. I've been right-clicking everywhere like crazy and still can't figure out how to create a new app. I suppose that's probably the root issue, but I tried a few other things (described below) just in case that actually is not the issue. Here is a picture of what I see in IIS Manager, in case my words don't do it justice: This is "deployed" at http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalcService/Service.svc . The error says: The type 'Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found. I also tried to create a virtual dir (IISHostedCalc) in dotnetpanel that points to IISHostedCalcService . When I navigate to http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalc/Service.svc , then there is a different error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection. Interestingly enough, if I click on View Applications, it seems like the virtual directory is an application (see image below)... although, as per the error message above, it doesn't work.   • Intel Wireless 4965AGN not achieving N throughput when connected to an Airport Express N network

    I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adaptor in my laptop (HP Pavillion dv2000 series) which is connecting to a 5Ghz-only 802.11n network provided by an Apple Airport Express. The network is using WPA2 encryption. My desktop is also connected the Airport, via a Linksys WUSB600N USB adaptor. Both are running with the latest drivers, and the Airport is running the latest firmware. The Airport is also configured to use wide channels. The problem I have is that I never get throughput above 4MB/s when transferring files between the two machines. Even a pessimistic calculation shows a 270Mbps network as being capable of transfer rates at well above 10MB/s. I'm pretty sure I've isolated the issue to being the Intel adaptor, as wiring the desktop to the AP, and using the Linksys adaptor on the laptop immediately yielded speeds limited by the 100MB/s ethernet connection. I know that 802.11n is still a draft standard, and so mixing kit from different manufacturers can easily lead to poor results, but I was just wondering if anybody else out there has had success with this Intel adaptor on an N network? Or even better, connecting it to an Airport Express? Can anybody give me any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue? I should also mention that the Airport Express doesn't allow you to manually specify channels when running in N mode, and that I've been able to rule out interference from other Wireless LANs by scanning. There aren't any other 5GHz networks in my area. All ideas welcome! Update: A while later, I've just updated to the most recent drivers for both the Intel chip in the laptop, and the USB adaptor. Unfortunately this hasn't improved things :(. If anybody has any advice it would be be gratefully received.

  • MySQL socket connections working, but not port connections

    I installed MySQL community 5.1.45 on my Snow Leopard 10.6, using the pkg from their site. I had previously installed a MySQL binary from entropy.ch. In the previous installation, the connections were working fine before I upgrade to Snow Leopard. In Snow Leopard, both the installations are problematic. Using an app called Sequel Pro, if I connect with the socket operation, it connects properly. However, a standard connection with the same credentials doesn't work. From what I've understood, socket connections happen on the machine itself between processes, whereas normal connections occur over the network/ports, in this case a loopback to my machine, since the server and client are both on the same machine. My new CakePHP installation isn't being able to connect to the db with the root credentials I provided. Btw, I've been starting the MySQL server using the Preference Pane.   • WAMP starts Apache or Mysql, but not both?

    When I install WAMP, the Apache and Mysql services are set to run as the LocalService user and all works well. However, because I need to access remote UNC paths in my PHP code, I need to run at least Apache as a user that exists on both the local host and the remote host - I'll call him WampUser. When both Apache and Mysql are set to start as WampUser, I cannot start both at the same time. If both are stopped, I can start either successfully. When I attempt to start the other, I get Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. This error appears immediately - there is no timeout. When at least one of the services is set to start as LocalService, both start fine. I can, therefore, solve my problem by setting Apache to WampUser and Mysql to LocalService, but I'm more interested in why this is happening in the first place. I'm especially curious because this situation does not occur on other servers - something I've done to this server has made these two services exclusive when running as the same user. Here are some miscellaneous data points: I am using Windows Server 2003. I've provided recursive Full Control to the C:\wamp directory for WampUser. Nothing appears in the event log after the service fails. No log entries appear in either the Mysql log or the Apache error log. Neither application appears in the process list when the appropriate service is stopped. Any ideas?

  • USB Mouse and Keyboard not working in Linux 4 Tegra

    I am a new person in Tegra Linux development. I have Tamontem NG Evaluation board with Tegra 3 Chip. I installed L4T sample file system from NVIDIA tegra Resources (https://developer.nvidia.com/linux-tegra) and installed the file system as described in the documentation provided in NVIDIA site. Already these was an SD card with L4T running. i dont want to change the boot loader. So I copied the boot.scr.uimg to root (/) folder and uImage to boot(/boot/) and it starts booting from the existing SD card. After that while booting, some errors occurred in some Bluetooth devices (there is no bluetooth device in the board). So I disabled Bluetooth by giving the following command sudo mv /etc/init/bluetooth.conf /etc/init/bluetooth.conf.noexec Now the problem is that mouse and keyboard are not working. So i cannot login. Even though i installed desktop, the mouse and keyboard are not working. But mouse and keyboard are enumerating. lsusb command is showing the USB mouse and keyboard. The installed file system is Ubuntu 13.04. Linux Kernel version is 3.1 What to do. Please help.Thanks in Advance.

  • Explorer.EXE ordinal 423 not found in urlmon.dll after updates/IE8 install

    Setting up a brand new Dell Optiplex 980 with Windows XP SP3, and everything started up fine on the first boot. My first task was to install system updates, including IE8 and WGA. After the required reboot after installing updates, I now get this error message: Explorer.EXE Ordinal not found. The ordinal 423 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll Per my cursory Google search, this forum thread places the blame squarely on IE8. The solution provided is to enter safe mode and remove IE8. Unfortunately, when I press F8 to choose to boot safe mode, I only have the option of "Windows XP SP3 Professional" and no safe mode options. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance. FYI, I can get to the Windows Task Manager by holding down Control-Alt-Delete, but programs don't seem to run properly if you select them. I tried chatting with Dell Support, and we tried to initiate the system restore at c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, but that had a similar "ordinal 423 not found in urlmon.dll" error.

    I have desperately been trying to get push for git working through the "smart-http" mode using git-http-backend. However after many hours of testing and troubleshooting, I am still left with error: Cannot access URL http://localhost/git/hello.git/, return code 22 fatal: git-http-push failed` I am using latest versions of Ubuntu (12.04), Apache2 (2.2.22) and Git (1.7.9.5) and have followed different tutorials found on the Internet, like this one http://www.parallelsymmetry.com/howto/git.jsp. There are no formula involved. I already checked for extra spaces. Immediately reapplying the Remove Duplicates command does not remove the remaining duplicate values. Reapplying the Remove Duplicates command after a reverse-sort seems to remove the remaining duplicates. Reverse-sorting before using the first Remove Duplicates changes the result (213 duplicate values removed and 387 unique values remained), only in the non-suffixed non-prefixed group. Can you reproduce this bug in Excel 2007 like I do? What triggers it? Could it the composite (numbers and text) data set? I'm not looking for alternatives. I want to know when not to use the feature and revert to already known (Excel 2003 era) alternatives.

I have modified it to send email to myself every time an EBS snapshot is created or deleted.     I've OpenWRT router with Backfire 10.03.1-rc3 (arch:brcm 2.6 kernel) I've set up an OpenVPN client connecting my router with workplace lan, and it works nicely, I can connect from router to networks (several) in workplace.
