It seems to me that there must be a better way than manually putting a '\r\n' at the end of every line or using a line ending conversion utility. Ideally I would like to be able to do something like assign to os.linesep the separator that I want to use when writing the file. Or specify the line separator when I open the file.

    In my masterpage, I have the following in the header. This allows me to put special characters into my website. The problem is that when javascript tries to load (on the client) special characters, I get that weird box.     I am trying to sort the dates from the earliest to the latest. I was thinking about using the bufferedreader and do a try searching the first 2 characters of the string and then the 4th and 5th characters and finally the 7th and 8th characters, ignoring the slashes. The following is an example of the text file I have: 04/24/2010 - 2000.0 (Deposit) 09/05/2010 - 20.0 (Fees) 02/30/2007 - 600.0 (Deposit) 06/15/2009 - 200.0 (Fees) 08/23/2010 - 300.0 (Deposit) 06/05/2006 - 500.0 (Fees)

    hi guys, i am tasked with the job of creating client-side validation on a form in an asp.net MVC 2 application, which has a modal window (the modal exists as part of the wrapping form, it is not a form unto itself). how would i go about providing validation for these text field inputs while the modal is visible, but do not validate while the modal is not displayed (as to not cause problems in the rest of the form if the modal window is never required) What is the best approach to achieve this functionality? thanks, Nick

    Hi folks, I'm have a list of articles, each article has its own title and description. Unfortunately, from the sources I am using, there is no way to know what language they are written. Also, text is not entirely written in 1 language; almost always English words are present. I reckon I would need dictionary databases stored on my machine, but it feels a bit unpractical. What would you suggest I do?
