  • How to configure machines in a public subnet with two gateways?

    We have a single public /24 subnet, with a BGP router as the primary gateway. Now I'm interested in configuring a second router for redundancy. How do I deal with multiple gateways on the servers in our public subnet? I found some other questions related to multiple gateways that seem to deal with NAT set-ups. In my situation, the servers all have public routed IP-addresses. So from what I can tell, it doesn't really matter which route incoming or outgoing packets take. But I figure the servers need some way of telling when one of the gateways is down, and route around it? Is this accomplished with protocols such as OSPF? And do I need to deploy this on all my servers?

    Given two vectors X and Y I have to find their correlation, i.e. their linear dependence/independence. Both vectors have equal dimension. A resulted answer should be a floating point number from [-1.0 .. 1.0]. Example: X=[-1, 2, 0] Y=[ 4, 2, -0.3] Find y=cor(X,Y) such that y belongs to [-1.0 .. 1.0]. It should be a simple construction involving a list-comprehension. No external library is allowed.     Lets say I have a function f[x_, y_], and two lists l1, l2. I'd like to evaluate f[x,y] where x runs over the list l1 and y runs over the list l2, and I'd like to do it without having to make all pairs of the form {l1[[i]],l2[[j]]}. (Motivation: I'm trying to implement some basic Haskell programs in Mathematica. In particular, I'd like to be able to code the Haskell program isMatroid::[[Int]]->Bool isMatroid b =and[or[sort(union(xs\\[x])[y]'elem'b|y<-ys]|xs<-b,ys<-b, xs<-x] I think I can do the rest of it, if I can figure out the original question, but I'd like the code to be Haskell-like.     Hi, I want to compare parts of byte[] efficiently - so I understand memcmp() should be used. I know I can using PInvoke to call memcmp() - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/43289/comparing-two-byte-arrays-in-net But, I want to compare only parts of the byte[] - using offset, and there is no memcmp() with offset since it uses pointers. int CompareBuffers(byte[] buffer1, int offset1, byte[] buffer2, int offset2, int count) { // Somehow call memcmp(&buffer1+offset1, &buffer2+offset2, count) } Should I use C++/CLI to do that? Should I use PInvoke with IntPtr? How? Thank you.

  • What's the best / easiest way to combine two mailboxes on Exchange 2007?

    I've found this and this(2) (sorry, maximum hyperlink limit for new users is 1, apparently), but they both seem targeted toward much more complex cases than what I'm trying to do, and I just want to make sure I'm not missing some better approach. Here's the scenario: 'Alice' has retired. 'Bob' has taken over Alice's position. Bob was already with the organization in a different but related position, and so they already have their own Exchange account with mail, calendars, etc., that they need to keep. I need to get all of Alice's old mail, calendar entries, etc., merged into Bob's existing stuff. Ideally, I don't want to have all of Alice's stuff in a separate 'recovery' folder that Bob would have to switch back and forth between to look at older stuff; I want it all just merged into Bob's current Inbox / Calendar. I'm assuming (read: hoping) that there's a better way to do this than fiddling with permissions and exporting to and then importing from a .pst. Office version is 2007 for everybody that uses Exchange, if that helps. Exchange is version 8.1. What (preferably step-by-step - I'm new to Exchange) is the best way to do this? I can't imagine this is an uncommon scenario, but my google-fu has failed me; there seems to be nothing on this subject that isn't geared towards far more complex scenarios.   • Checkbox vs Two Radio Buttons - Which one is more usable?

    I'm currently working on some setting screens, most of which contain a 2 column form with a preference question on the left, and a form element on the right. The questions are things like: Can add/edit other users? Can delete clients? Obviously this setting is a binary setting and most UI "experts" would insist that a checkbox is the appropriate form element to use. However, when I mocked up the form with the checkboxes it looked unfriendly and it seemed hard to relate the state of the checkbox back to the question. I changed the form to use two radio buttons instead: Yes o No Personally I find this easier to process, as the options are actually answers to the question posed on the left. In terms of clicking it makes no difference to the user, it's a single click each time to change the setting. What do you think of this use of radio buttons? Is this better or worse than a checkbox and why?

    Is there a program to compare one folder and all subfolders to another folder and all subfolders for differences in the files contained therein (presence, absence of files, size and list of filenames)? Example of usage: I have 100 DLL files from environment 1 and I want to check if any of them are different (in size and date modified) from the 100 DLL files in environment 2. So I copy and paste all the DLLs in environment 1 into directory A, and all the DLLs in environment 2 into directory B. I then run my "directory comparison" program on directories A and B and find out that, aha, here is a list of 7 DLLs that have different modified dates and times between the two directories. EDIT: OS is windows XP

    In Python, for example: f = open('test','w') f.write('this is a test\n'.encode('utf-16')) f.write('another test\n'.encode('utf-8')) f.close() That file gets messy when I re-open it: f = open("test") print f.readline().decode('utf-16') # it leads to UnicodeDecodeError print f.readline().decode('utf-8') # it works fine However if I keep the texts encoded in one style (say utf-16 only), it could read back ok. So I'm guessing mixing two types of encoding in the same file is wrong and couldn't be decoded back, even if I do know the encoding rules of each specific string? Any suggestion is welcome, thank you!

    I have two excel files which has similar formatting and the data map each other from cell b15:h31. Row 15 is heading and so is the column B. I want to read file1 cell by cell and add that cell's content to the corresponding cell in File 2 i.e C16 in file 1 gets added to C16 in file 2, C17 in file 1 to C17 in file 2 and so on. The output goes in file 3 or anything. trying to implement through vba but of no success so far. Does anyone know how to go about it.

  • Ruby (on Rails) && PHP - two great things that work great together???

    I've done very little work with Ruby, and have an app I've written in PHP. I would like to add some functionality which is available in open sourced Ruby code. I could either try to translate the Ruby to PHP, or try mixing the two. Though I think the mixing part would be somewhat silly. I believe my options are to either mix ruby with php, or translate the ruby code into php. Anybody have any suggestions on this, or other ideas?   • Two users using the same same user profile while not in a domain.

    I have a windows server 2003 acting as a terminal server, this computer is not a member of any domain. We demo our product on the server by creating a user account. The person logs in uses the demo for a few weeks and when they are done we delete the user account. However every time we do this it creates a new folder in C:\Documents and Settings\. I know with domains you can have many users point at one profile and make it read only so all changes are dumped afterwords, but is there a way to do that when the machine is not on a domain? I would really like it if I didn't have to remote in and clean up the folders every time.

    Was looking through the web for an answer but it seems like there is no clear recipe for it. What I need is a signed angle of rotation between two vectors Va and Vb lying within the same 3D plane and having the same origin knowing that: the plane contatining both vectors is an arbitrary and is not parallel to XY or any other of cardinal planes Vn - is a plane normal both vectors along with the normal have the same origin O = { 0, 0, 0 } Va - is a reference for measuring the left handed rotation at Vn The angle should be measured in such a way so if the plane would be XY plane the Va would stand for X axis unit vector of it. I guess I should perform a kind of coordinate space transformation by using the Va as the X-axis and the cross product of Vb and Vn as the Y-axis and then just using some 2d method like with atan2() or something. Any ideas? Formulas?

  • Uniquely identify two instances of one browser that share Session state?

    I want to make sure that a user isn't editing the same form data in two different browser tabs or windows (of the same web browser instance). It's to stop the user from stupidly overwriting their own data as they continue through a very long form process. On the server ongoing data input through the screens is collected into the Session. Assume for any browser, all tabs and windows run in the same instance of it (i.e. not each in a separate process). Obviously the browser tabs and windows share the same cookies in this scenario so cookie modification seems out of the question for viable solutions. This is also the reason they shared the same session. Considering that the form is already created and this is one of the final touches, how can I use ASP.NET, hopefully easily, to oversee this "feature"?

  • Is it possible to code on two different computers simultaneously?

    I want to work with another programmer and I want the source code to be live in real-time on both of our screens. Is this possible on the Mac OS x or Linux? We're going to be using OS X but occasionally we might need to add an Ubuntu computer too. Is there a way I can do this using ssh, any shell based program, or even a good GUI? I thought Coda might be capable of this but it's not really working. Anyone ever do this? I'm not look for a git/svn/or any other version control system. This is more of a live coding session. :)
