Similar to this string[,] array = new string[,] { {"a", "b"}, {"c", "d"}, {"e", "f"}, {"g", "h"} } Doing List<string[]> list = new List<string[]>(); list.Add(new string[2] {"a", "b"}); list.Add(new string[2] {"c", "d"}); list.Add(new string[2] {"e", "f"}); list.Add(new string[2] {"g", "h"}); list.ToArray(); gives me string[][] but not string[,] array. Just curious, is there some trick to build dynamically string[,] array somehow?

  • Looking for a way to draw a line between two points on a sphere in Three.js

    My app (a flight tracker) needs to draw a line between two points (cities say) on a sphere (earth) along the surface (i.e. the great circle route) using Three.js. I can think of 2 ways - (a) creating Three.js 'Line' with a set of (enough) points that I calculate manually and (b) writing the lines into the texture I use for the sphere after it's loaded but before I apply it as a texture. I can see problems with both (not even sure if (b) is possible in Three.js yet) - anyone think of a better way or have an opinion? Thanks in advance.

    I am making a bar chart and I want two separate gradients for each bar. First I want a gradient to go from top to bottom solid red to transparent red. I want to paint over the top of that a gradient that goes from right to left, black to opaque. So - In the bottom left we should have; Bottom left - Alpha 0 Bottom right - Alpha 0 Top left - Alpha 255 Colour Red Top Right - Alpha 255 Colour Black So in effect I want to take a solid colour, add a left to right gradient to black then take the output of that and add a top to bottom gradient to transparency. All this and I want it to be in a single brush, is this even possible?

    I have a setup of several Tomcat servers distributed between a few servers, all running the same thing. Apache is on top of Apache and a loadbalancer in front of the Apache servers. I want to cluster the Tomcats using Shared Session to minimize downtime and user interruption while deploying apps. I know clustering works within the same server but is it possible to setup Tomcat in a way that it shares sessions between servers on different machines? = Server 1 == Apache 1 === Tomcat 1 = Server 2 == Apache 2 === Tomcat 2 When Server/Tomcat 1 would be taken down, users and their sessions would transfer over to Server/Tomcat 2 and vice versa.

    Hey all, I'm currently trying to create a Friendship domain object to link two User objects (with a bit of additional data: createDate, confirmedStatus). My domain model looks as follows class Friendship { User userOne User userTwo Boolean confirmed Date createDate Date lastModifiedDate static belongsTo = [userOne:User , userTwo:User] static constraints = { userOne() userTwo() confirmed() createDate() lastModifiedDate() } } I've also added the following entries to the user class static hasMany = [ friendships:Friendship ] static mappedBy = [ friendships:'userOne' , friendships:'userTwo' ] When I do this, the result is a new friendship created (and viewable through the controller) with both users listed in their respective places. When I view the details of userOne, I see the friedship listed. When I view the details of userTwo, no friendship is listed. This is not the behavior I expected. What am I doing incorrectly? Why can't I see the friendship listed under both users?

So for example, I am hoping to do something like...     Hi, I have a user model, a movie model and this association in user.rb (I use has_many :through because there are other associations between these two models): has_many :has_seens has_many :movies_seen, :through = :has_seens, :source = :movie I'm trying to get an array of the ten most recent has_seens associations created. For now, the only solution I found is to crawl through all the users, creating an array with every user.has_seens found, then sort the array by has_seen.created_at and only keep the last 10 items… Seems like a heavy operation. The matches include, for example, private notes that each party makes about the other and some options they can set regarding the other.     Hi: What would be the insert SQL statement to merge data from two tables. For example I have events_source_1 table (columns: event_type_id, event_date) and events_source_2 table (same columns) and events_target table (columns: event_type_id, past_event_date nullalbe, future_event_date nullable). Events_source_1 has past events, Events_source_2 has future events and resultant events_target would contain past and future events in the same row for same event_type_id. If there is no past_events but future_events then past_event_date won't be set and only future_event_date will be and the opposite is true too.     We have two websites which only diference is in the design (Diferent images, styles, layouts..etc) but the web structure of files and cs code is the same so we want to simplify its manteinance... The actual structure would be: DefaultA.aspx DefaultA.aspx.cs DefaultB.aspx DefaultB.aspx.cs LoginA.aspx LoginA.aspx.cs LoginB.aspx LoginB.aspx.cs One idea would be changing the design differencies at runtime depending of the origin website, but we dont like much this because performance, abstraction in designing them and url confusion... Another one is sharing the cs (both aspx inheriting and using the same cs) file but we never have done or seen it done in any website before so we wonder if its a good aproach... What do you think? Any other way better in terms of performance vs development-ease?

    I have an administrative page in a web application that resets the cache, but it only resets the cache on the current JVM. The web application is deployed as a cluster to two WAS servers. Any way that I can elegantly have the "clear cache" button on each server trigger the method on both JVMs? Edit: The original developer just wrote a singleton holding a HashMap to be the cache in question. Lightweight and (previously) worked just fine for the requirements. It caches content pulled from six or seven web services for specified amounts of time. Edit: The entire application in question is three pages, so the elegant solution might well be the lightest solution.

If I type in a invalid password both error_messages show me the same error message. How can I output separate error messages per form?

    Hi, I have a MySQL DB and I need to be able to store dates earlier then 1970 - in my case, as early as 0 AD and earlier too, so I need a custom way to store dates. I have thought to use this format: Year - int(6) | Month -int(2) | day - int (2) | time - time | AD tinyint (1) | mya - int (11) But when it comes to actually using data in this format it becomes difficult. For example, if I want to get all records between two dates it would be like (pseudocode not SQL): get all where year between minYear and maxYear if year == minYear, month = minMonth if year == maxYear, month <= maxMonth if month == minMonth, day = minDay if month == maxMonth, day <= maxDay if day == minDay, time = minTime if day == maxDay, time <= maxTime or something, which seems like a right pain. I could store seconds before/after 0 AD, but that would take up way too much data! 2010 (EDIT: 2011) = 6.4 billion seconds since 0 AD. Does anybody have any ideas for this problem?

    Essentially I have to deal with a poorly implemented web service. They have two classes that don't derive from a parent class, but have the same properties (Ughh...). So it looks like this in my web service proxy class file: public partial class Product1 { public int Quantity; public int Price; } public partial class Product2 { public int Quantity; public int Price; } So what's the best way to grab the values from known properties without duplicating the code and casting to their respective classes? I know I probably could use reflection, but that can get ugly. If there is an easier less crazier way to do it (maybe in the new c# features?) please let me know.
