  • yum install gcc fails with invalid linux.dropbox.com/fedora directory

    I am relatively new to Linux administration. I have installed Centos 6.5 (under VirtualBox on a Win7pro system). When I try to install gcc to the system using yum, I get the following results: [root@localhost etc]# yum clean all Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security Cleaning repos: Dropbox base extras updates Cleaning up Everything Cleaning up list of fastest mirrors [root@localhost etc]# yum install gcc Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security Determining fastest mirrors * base: mirrors.tummy.com * extras: mirrors.cat.pdx.edu * updates: centos.mirror.freedomvoice.com http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/6/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found" Trying other mirror.     I have a windows service that needs to run with High Priority. At the end of the day I want to use this script to modify the priority after service startup: Const HIGH = 256 strComputer = "." strProcess = "BntCapi2.exe" Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colProcesses = objWMIService.ExecQuery _ ("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = '" & strProcess & "'") For Each objProcess in colProcesses objProcess.SetPriority(HIGH) Next But currently I am not able to change the priority, even with the taskmanger. The taskmananger throws an "Access Denied" error, but I am logged on as administrator and I changed the user account of the service to administrator, too. I still get the "access denied" message when trying to change the priority. Any ideas what permission I need to do that?

    I often work remotely and prefer using en-us locale settings for my searches. One of our computers is located in Germany, and whenever I try to change the location in Google Search Settings, I get an answer to "Pleas enter a valid Deutschland city or zip code". I checked this post, but it doesn't apply, as my language settings en-us and the Google search language is also set to English. It clearly uses the IP address of the computer. I couldn't find an answer in the Google help pages, anyone any idea how to change it London, New-York or Amsterdam?

Most of our users operate under a policy that propts them for a password change every 6 months as a security measure, with a few administrator accounts & terminal machines not using the policy for the sake of ease as they are needed all the time. Recently all machines regardless of policy have started asking for a password change out of schedule. Some PCs run Windows 7 & some XP, though the password prompts don't seem to discriminate between OS. What could this be down to? Many thanks

    i could use a little help with rewrite and nginx... Basically the structure of my App looks like this Headdirectory -- -APPBase -SomeMoreStuff -WWWDirectory .htaccess So i need to redirect into the WWWDirectory when i open the Headdirectory. In Apache its done with a htaccess and the following Content : RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(.*) www/$1 I already tried in Nginx : location /Headdirectory { rewrite ^/(.*) /www/$1; } And i tried to create an Alias but that didnt work...   • Can't change current working directory to external drive in Windows

    I'm trying to run a program located on an external USB disk using the Windows command prompt. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit (running in VMWare Workstation 8.0.) Here's what happens: I plug in the USB disk and it appears as drive letter 'E' in My Computer. I launch cmd from the start menu. I notice the prompt displays C:\Users\Tom> I type cd E:\ I notice the prompt displays C:\Users\Tom> (cd also yields C:\Users\Tom>) I can explore the drive using explorer.exe just fine, and it is connected according to VMWare Workstation. What am I doing wrong?

I notice that there are /etc/my.cnf file which contain the content (only two lines): innodb_buffer_pool_size = 1G max_allowed_packet = 512M While there is also /etc/mysql/my.cnf with a long content like: # The MySQL database server configuration file. ... ... For me, it looks like both are configurations for MySQL server, but Why there are two my.cnf in different locations, can't the content to be merged to one my.cnf ? What is the purpose to have seperate my.cnf for MySQL server ?

  • Monitor or log directory permission changes?

    I'm having an issue with a cPanel shared server running CentOS 5 where a few directories under the public_html folder keep getting changed to 777 from 755. The customer says they are not changing it and i'm wondering if there is a way to monitor these specific directories to find out who/what is changing the permissions. I have looked into using auditctl and after testing it and changing the permissions myself I don't see anything in the logs so i'm not sure if i'm doing it right or if it's even possible. Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas on how I could figure out what is changing the permissions? Thanks!!

  • Mac: Cannot open the parent directory Library

    I really am about to go crazy because nothing worked out. I'm trying to access the Library folder on my OS Lion however all the tutorials related to this subject involves opening the user library however I would like to access the Library where the 'WebServer' folder is located when you enable web-sharing. Whenever I try to access it it gives me the error that I am not allowed to see what's inside and I checked my status, saying that I am an admin but it still occurs. Any help?

Apache mod_header rule should change cookies from: Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath to Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only I use mod_headers for it with following rule: Header edit Set-Cookie ^(.*)$ $1;Secure;HttpOnly It works fine when only one cookie is set, but if there is more than one, it just removes all the following and they are not set at all. Any help how to write mod_headers rule for multiple values? or the problem is in something else?

The problem being that many programs, sad to say, Microsoft's included, don't scale or position properly at other than 100%. I've reset the DPI to 100%, and have been able to customize most of my windows settings for easy reading, except the task bar font size In Summary: There are many ways to change the taskbar font color.     I am getting an error message to the effect of unable to move files to a single file. I am not trying to do this. What I am trying to do is move files from one folder to another folder (staging) and then deleting the original folder. If you can show me a better way to do this since I am not doing this correctly.     Hi, I'm looking for the rewrite rule for mod_rewrite in Apache so that when asking for a specific subdirectory, it and all its contents gets redirected to another location. I currently have the following: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/SUBDIRECTORY(/.*)? /another/location But this only manages to redirect /SUBDIRECTORY requests to the desired location, while all others (like (/SUBDIRECTORY/ , /SUBDIRECTORY/anything/else ) gets me an error telling me that the redirection is not valid... any ideas?     I have a folder named "C:\Jobs\job#1" , "C:\Jobs\job#2" "C:\Jobs\job#3" etc and a lot of directories and sub-directories under it. I want to get the all the directories under Jobs and xcopy them to C:\backup. Then I want to xcopy all the files under each Job#1, 2 ,3 etc. to C:\backup\job#1\month\\*.* To make it clearer. Source dir = C:\Jobs\job#1\"myfiles&dir" Destination dir = C:\Backup\job#1\month\"myfiles&dir" then do the next folder Source dir = C:\Jobs\job#2\"myfiles&dir" Destination dir = C:\Backup\job#2\month\"myfiles&dir" ...until all folders are back-up. Since the job folder keep increasing, by doing it this way I don't have to add extra code on this script except modify the month. Thank you.

    I've been trying to achieve this since about 1.5 hours now. I want to have the following transformations when requesting sites on my website: homepage.com/ => index.php homepage.com/archive => index.php?archive homepage.com/archive/site-01 => index.php?archive/site-01 homepage.com/files/css/main.css => requestfile.php?css/main.css The first three transformations can be done by using the following: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/?$ index.php RewriteRule ^/?(.*)$ index.php?$1 However, I'm stuck at the point where all requests to the files subdirectory should be redirected to requestfile.php. This is one of the tries I've done: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/?$ index.php RewriteRule ^/?files/(.+)$ requestfile.php?$1 RewriteRule ^/?(.*)$ index.php?$1 But that does not work. I've also tried to put [L] after the third line, but that didn't help as I'm using this configuration in .htaccess and sub-requests will transform that URL again, etc. I fuzzed with the RewriteCond command but I couldn't get it to work. How needs the configuration to look like to achieve what I desire?

  • Active Directory management with low user rights

    Our problem: The client, a normal user, has to be able to reset multiple passwords at once. Around 30 in one go. This would call for powershell or something along these lines, but for AD and Powershell one needs to be domain administrator. My solution would be to make a service that runs on the AD server and take connections from a program. The service would then do the AD changes. So far so good, I would just like to hear some other thoughts on this problem. Because I sure can't be the only one with it

  • Proper upgrade path for Windows 7 to Windows 8 when the directory setup is non-standard

    I have both a HDD and a SSD in my computer and after installing Windows I moved things around a little to ensure that the OS is on the SSD but my user profile resides on the SSD (with a few exceptions). I used junction points heavily for that. Windows and most applications are fine with that and it works well. Now I wonder whether I can in-place upgrade this to Windows 8 while retaining that exact setup or whether there is anything I can do to ease the upgrade process.
