• how to force onLayout

  Hi i want to design a custom View where I need to recalculate my layout and redraw when user changes something. To force a onLayout(), the only solution that works for me until now is: onLayout(true, 0, 0, 0, 0); invalidate(); Of course that gives me a lint error and I have to add a @SuppressLint("WrongCall"). So there must be a smarter solution. Calls of forceLayout or requestLayout didn't work. Probably they only put a request on a stack but don't react immediately. As my view has no child elements and I do the drawing inside all by myself, could be I'm bypassing some Android design guides and abusing some principles. Can live with the lint error but maybe someone already found a solution. Thanks!

  i cant seem to figure out how to add the admob widget into my application. i want to add the widget to a linearlayout that is the child of a relative layout. the linerlayout was created just for the ad. and have it update/refresh the ad each time a button is pressed. i have already imported the JAR,edited my manifest to include the permissions and publisher id. but i cant seem to exactly figure out how to add integrate the admob code.

• Restricting deletion with NHibernate

  I'm using NHibernate (fluent) to access an old third-party database with a bunch of tables, that are not related in any explicit way. That is a child tables does have parentID columns which contains the primary key of the parent table, but there are no foreign key relations ensuring these relations. Ideally I would like to add some foreign keys, but cannot touch the database schema. My application works fine, but I would really like impose a referential integrity rule that would prohibit deletion of parent objects if they have children, e.i. something similar 'ON DELETE RESTRICT' but maintained by NHibernate. Any ideas on how to approach this would be appreciated. Should I look into the OnDelete() method on the IInterceptor interface, or are there other ways to solve this? Of course any solution will come with a performance penalty, but I can live with that.

  Error: End tag for 'optgroup' which is not finished. You have probably failed to include a required child element. Hence the parent element is "not finished", not complete. I want to achieve something like this in select options. USA UK -- Afghanistan I want to put few important countries on top and then a non-selectable divider and then ordered list of remaining countries. I put this divider using empty 'optgroup'. While it works perfectly in all browser, I get validation error. What could be other approaches?

I have tried this: window.frames[1].getElementById('someElementId') This results in a type error: getElementById() is not a function. Can someone assist? Thanks!

  How to delete a child row (on delete cascade ?) when setting a null value on a parent? Here's the db design. table A [id, b_id_1, b_id_2] table B [id, other fields...] b_id_1 and b_id_2 can be NULL if any of them is null, it means NO B records for corresponding FK (there are 2 of them) so (b_id_1,b_id_2) can be (null,null), (100, null), (null, 100_or_any_other_number) etc How in one SQL query both set b_id_1 or b_id_2 to null and delete all rows from B that have this id? What FK design should be applied to the 2 tables? what foreign keys should be added? A - B (FK_1: A.b_id_1 references B.id, FK_2: A.b_id_2 references B.id) and also B-A (FK_3: B.id references A.b_id_1, FK_4: B.id references A.b_id_2) ? But again, setting an A's b_id_1 or A's b_id_2 to null - will it remove any of B's records? I don't think so. So how to do that?

  Hi folks, in my C#-project, I have a class which contains a List public class MyClass { public MyClass parent; public List<MyClass> children; ... } I want to prevent the user of the class from Adding (and Deleting) an Element to the children-List, but he shall still be able to parse its elements. I want to handle the Adding and Deleting within MyClass, providing an AddChild(MyClass item) and DeleteChild(MyClass item) to ensure that, when an item is added to the child list, the parent of that item will be set properly. • Rails before_filter on subclasses beeing called twice

  Hi! I'm at Rails 2.3.5 and I have this problem: class BaseController < ApplicationController before_filter :foo, :only => [:index] end class ChildController < BaseController before_filter :foo, :only => [:index, :show, :other, :actions] end The problem is that on ChildController, the :foo before filter gets called twice. I've tried a number of workarounds around this problem. If I don't include the :index action on the child, it never gets called for that action. The solution I found works, but is very very ugly skip_before_filter :foo before_filter :foo, :only => [:index, :show, :other, :actions] Is there a better way to solve this problem? Thanks

• How to include a Custom list in one Sharepoint site in to another as a web part?

  I have two share point web sites. One is a child web site of the other. For example if my first site is myweb1, other one is myweb1/myweb2. I have a custom list created in myweb1. I want to include that as a web part in number of web pages in both myweb1 and myweb1/myweb2 sites. Including the web part in the same site which contains the custom list is not a problem. But how do I include it in the other site. The web part does not show up in the list. I dont want to copy the content of custom list. I want pages in both sites that have included this list as a web part to be updated whenever the list content is changed. Any ideas?

• Collision detection between layers in Cocos2d?

  I am making a game in Cocos2d. I have enemies that shoot, and have the character shoot. I created a separate layer for the enemies (and their bullets) and a separate layer for the character (and its bullets). The problem is, I don't know how to detect collisions between the two layers. Note, I have the Scene in HelloWorldLayer, and each of the above layers is a child of the scene. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

• Is there a name for a pure-data Objective-C class?

  This is less of a code-specific question and more of an Objective-C nomenclature question. In C you have struct for pure data. In Enterprise Java, you have "bean" classes that are purely member variables with getters and setters, but no business logic. In Adobe FLEX, you have "Value Objects". In Objective-C, is there a proper name for an object (descended from NSObject, of course) that simply has ivars and getters/setters (or @property/@synthesize, if you want to get fancy) and no real business logic? A more concrete example might be a simple class with getters and setters for filename, file size, description, and assorted other metadata. You could then take a bunch of these and easily throw them into a container (NSDictionary, NSArray) without the need for messy NSValue wrapping of a C struct. It is also a little more structure than putting, say, a bunch of loosely-typed child NSDictionaries into a parent container object.

  I have a class called Foo that defines a list of objects of type A: class Foo { List<A> Items = new List<A>(); } I have a class called Bar that can save and load lists of objects of type B: class Bar { void Save(List<B> ComplexItems); List<B> Load(); } B is a child of A. Foo, Bar, A and B are in a library and the user can create children of any of the classes. What I would like to do is something like the following: Foo MyFoo = new Foo(); Bar MyBar = new Bar(); MyFoo.Items = MyBar.Load(); MyBar.Save(MyFoo.Items); Obviously this won't work. Here, we are overriding printVal() method, so that is understandable that it is accessing child class method only. But I could not understand why it's accessing the value of x from Super class... • How to dynamically add a Javascript function (and invoke)

  Based on a click event on the page, via ajax I fetch a block of html and script, I am able to take the script element and append it to the head element, however WebKit based browsers are not treating it as script (ie. I cannot invoke a function declared in the appended script). Using the Chrome Developer Tools I can see that my script node is indeed there, but it shows up differently then a script block that is not added dynamically, a non-dynamic script has a text child element and I cannot figure out a way to duplicate this for the dynamic script. Any ideas or better ways to be doing this? The driving force is there is potentially a lot of html and script that would never be needed unless a user clicks on a particular tab, in which case the relevant content (and script) would be loaded. The trouble is that the other class requires the full definition of the first class to be implemented, as it creates the second class and stores them and manages them in similar fashions. The trouble is that naturally, they fall as one class, and thus have some tight interop, except that I need them to be two classes for threading reasons. A sort of, master for all threads, one child per thread, system. Any advice on how this can be implemented?

  I'm writing a Javascript function that would manipulate an array written on-the-fly and sent as a parameter. The function is written as follows: function returnJourney(animation,clean){ var properties = {}; // loads of other inane stuff for(i in animation[0]) properties[animation[0][i]] = animation[0].i; // heaps more inane stuff } The animation in question is a set of parameters for a jQuery animation. Typically it takes the format of ({key:value,key:value},speedAsInteger,modifierAsString). So to kick off initial debugging I call it with: returnJouney(({'foo':'bar'},3000),1); And straight off the bat things are way off. As far as I see it this would have returnJourney acknowledge clean === 1, and animation being an array with an object as its first child and the number 3000 as its second. Firebug tells me animation evaluates as the number 3000. What am I doing wrong?

• LoadViewState not fired on my user control

  I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

• ALT-TAB Application Icon Pixelated

  When a child window of my application is opened and I view the ALT-TAB menu, the application icon looks pixellated. I assume that Windows uses a low resolution version of the icon (16x16 pixel I think). What can I do that Windows selects the right version which would be 32x32 pixel? I assigned an icon to the window in question that has 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x38 and 256x256 in true color. Please note that VS says in the proterties that 32x32 is used and that it works fine for the main window of my application where I assigned the exact same icon.

  I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?
