• sp_send_dbmail attach files stored as varbinary in database

  I have a two part question relating to sending query results as attachments using sp_send_dbmail. Problem 1: Only basic .txt files will open. Any other format like .pdf or .jpg are corrupted. Problem 2: When attempting to send multiple attachments, I receive one file with all file names glued together. I'm running SQL Server 2005 and I have a table storing uploaded documents: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[EmailAttachment]( [EmailAttachmentID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [MassEmailID] [int] NULL, -- foreign key [FileData] [varbinary](max) NOT NULL, [FileName] [varchar](100) NOT NULL, [MimeType] [varchar](100) NOT NULL I also have a MassEmail table with standard email stuff. But clearly original headers are lost. It's also worth noting that attachment file sizes are different than the original files. That is most likely due to improper encoding as well. So I'm hoping there's a way to create file headers using the stored mimetype, or some way to include file headers in the binary data? I'm also not confident in the values of the last few parameters, and I know coalesce is not quite right, because it prepends the first file name with a comma. But good documentation is nearly impossible to find. Please help!

• WPF: Draw a grid on a Canvas?

  Hello community, I'm currently trying to add gridlines to a canvas. I need an exact free space between them, where I'd like to place something for hit detection per cell, maybe simply a transparent border or such a thing. While I thought this would be an easy thing, I'm facing problems like antialiasing and that lines in WPF aren't very "calculate" / exact drawing friendly - e.g. if I draw a line on x=20 with a thickness of 10, the line's width goes from x=15 to x=25 (maybe not exactly, just some kind like that), so it takes the given position as middle point - if it would draw from 20 to 30 it would be easier in my case. Besides that making things more complex, how does WPF handle e.g. a thickness of 5? Draw thickness 3 left from the given point and the remaining 2 right from it? Or maybe just the opposite way? Well, just wanted to show you which problems I have, though this all maybe just seems simple to be done. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this before. Currently I find a Border without content and just 2 sites set to a thickness greater than 0 as line seems to work the best in my tests, seems like it's clear where they are drawn and they somehow don't seem to make any antialiasing problems. Just wondering if there's a more intuitive / better way of doing this? I don't want to lay a Canvas over a Grid, I think this maybe makes some things more complex in the end (by the way: how would I place a Canvas on top of a Grid?). Thanks for any hint!

• OpenCV Mat creation memory leak

  My memory is getting full fairly quick once using the next piece of code. This works great in Convert(). Going the other way, myConverter should ideally calculate the Slope value (Binding.DoNothing for the rest), but it needs the other values in addition to the Canvas.Top one passed to ConvertBack(). What is the right way to solve this? I have tried making the binding OneWay and create an additional multibinding for local:SPoint.Slope, but that causes infinite recursion and stack overflow. I was thinking the ConverterParameter could be used, but it seems like it's not possible to bind to it.

  Nevrona Designs' Rave Reports is a Report Engine for use by Embarcadero's Delphi IDE. This is what I call the Rave Endless Loop bug. In Rave Reports version 6.5.0 (VCL10) that comes bundled with Delphi 2006, there is a nortorious bug that plagues many Rave report developers. If you have a non-empty dataset, and the data rows for this dataset fit exactly into a page (that is to say there are zero widow rows), then upon PrintPreview, Rave will get stuck in an infinite loop generating pages. This problem has been previously reported in this newsgroup under the following headings: "error: generating infinite pages"; Hugo Hiram 20/9/2006 8:44PM "Rave loop bug. • Is make -j distcc possible to scale over 5 times?

  Since distcc cannot keep states and just possible to send jobs and headers and let those servers to use only the data just sent and preprocess and compile, I think the lastest distcc has problem in scalability. In my local build environment which has appx. 10,000 c/c++ files to build, I could only make 2 times faster than not using distcc (but using make -j) when having 20 build servers. What do you think is the problem? If anyone has achieved scalability more than 10 - 20 times using make -j and distcc, please let me know. The following product claims that it is impossible to scale make -j and distcc faster than 5 times. http://www.electric-cloud.com/products/electricaccelerator.php I think this can be improved by: Letting the distccd server to maintain sessions Tied to those sessions, they will cache their own header directories Preprocess will be done demand base from the distccd server This will be done through a LD_PRELOADed library libdistcc.so which will replace stat/open syscalls and fetches the header files over network. ...   I have a complex SQL problem in MS SQL Server, and in drawing on a piece of paper I realized that I could think of it as a single bar filled with rectangles, each rectangle having segments with different Z orders. In reality it has nothing to do with z order or graphics at all, but more to do with some complex business rules that would be difficult to explain. Howoever, if anyone has ideas on how to solve the below that will give me my solution. I have the following data: ObjectID, PercentOfBar, ZOrder (where smaller is closer) A, 100, 6 B, 50, 5 B, 50, 4 C, 30, 3 C, 70, 6 The result of my query that I want is this, in any order: PercentOfBar, ZOrder 50, 5 20, 4 30, 3 Think of it like this, if I drew rectangle A, it would fill 100% of the bar and have a z order of 6. 66666666666 AAAAAAAAAAA If I then layed out rectangle B, consisting of two segments, both segments would cover up rectangle A resulting in the following rendering: 4444455555 BBBBBBBBBB As a rule of thumb, for a given rectangle, it's segments should be layed out such that the highest z order is to the right of the lower Z orders. Finally rectangle C would cover up only portions of Rectangle B with it's 30% segment that is z order 3, which would be on the left. • Need help with artificial neural network

  I have an input data for neural network that consists of 2 vectors with 200 elements, that i got from some program for generating signals. So it is actually 2x200 input to my nnet. As target data, i have one 1x200 vector that i also got from the same program. That is my training data set. I gather as much of those sets as i want so i transfer them to matlab and save them as, for example, set1, set2,.... When i am creating neural net, using newfit function (backropagation algorithm and everyhting else is set by default because i am kind of unexperianced with neural nets so i will have to experiment) i'm creating it using set1 only for example. Then, when i am to train neural net i train it for set1 then load set2 and train for it and so on. so its like this function net = create_fit_net(inputs,targets) numHiddenNeurons = 20; net = newfit(inputs,targets,numHiddenNeurons); net=train(net,inputs,targets); load set2; net=train(net,inputs,targets); load set3; net=train(net,inputs,targets); load set4; net=train(net,inputs,targets); i am using 4 sets of data here and all sets have variables of same name and size. My quesion is, am i doing this the right way, because, when doing simulation in some other m file, i am getting bad results, and every time i get different results. Does it matter if i create network with one set and then train with others too, and does it matter what set do i use to train network 1st? Also, i am confused about the amount of neurons to use (im using in the example 20 but actually i tried 1, 10, 30, 50, 100 200 and even 300 and i get nothing). If you have any suggestions, i'd be glad to take them into consideration. Any help is welcome. thanks in advance

• silverlight master-detail with two listboxes in pure xaml with ria services throwing exception

  Hi, I was trying to achieve master-detail with 2 ListBox, 2 DomainDataSource and a IValueConverter, when entering the page it throws the random error it does when your xaml is invalid: "AG_E_PARSER_BAD_PROPERTY_VALUE [Line: 24 Position: 61]" Which is in fact the start position of where I am binding the listbox selected item with converter to the parameter's value of my DomainDataSource.   I am putting together some guidelines for code reviews. We do not have one formal process yet, and trying to formalize it. And our team is geographically distributed We are using TFS for source control (used it for tasks/bug tracking/project management as well, but migrated that to JIRA) with VS2008 for development. What are the things you look for when doing a code review ? These are the things I came up with Enforce FXCop rules (we are a Microsoft shop) Check for performance (any tools ?) and security (thinking about using OWASP- code crawler) and thread safety Adhere to naming conventions The code should cover edge cases and boundaries conditions Should handle exceptions correctly (do not swallow exceptions) Check if the functionality is duplicated elsewhere method body should be small(20-30 lines) , and methods should do one thing and one thing only (no side effects/ avoid temporal coupling -) Do not pass/return nulls in methods Avoid dead code Document public and protected methods/properties/variables What other things do you generally look for ? I am trying to see if we can quantify the review process (it would produce identical output when reviewed by different persons) Example: Saying "the method body should be no longer than 20-30 lines of code" as opposed to saying "the method body should be small" Or is code review very subjective ( and would differ from one reviewer to another ) ? The objective is to have a marking system (say -1 point for each FXCop rule violation,-2 points for not following naming conventions,2 point for refactoring etc) so that developers would be more careful when they check in their code.This way, we can identify developers who are consistently writing good/bad code.The goal is to have the reviewer spend about 30 minutes max, to do a review (I know this is subjective, considering the fact that the changeset/revision might include multiple files/huge changes to the existing architecture etc , but you get the general idea, the reviewer should not spend days reviewing someone's code) What other objective/quantifiable system do you follow to identify good/bad code written by developers?   I have a set of data that I need to store at design-time to construct the contents of a group of components at run-time. Something like this: type TVulnerabilityData = record Vulnerability: TVulnerability; Name: string; Description: string; ErrorMessage: string; end; What's the best way of storing this data at design-time for later retrieval at run-time? I'll have about 20 records for which I know all the contents of each "record" but I'm stuck on what's the best way of storing the data. The only semi-elegant idea I've come up with is "construct" each record on the unit's initialization like this: var VulnerabilityData: array[Low(TVulnerability)..High(TVulnerability)] of TVulnerabilityData; .... initialization VulnerabilityData[0].Vulnerability := vVulnerability1; VulnerabilityData[0].Name := 'Name of Vulnerability1'; VulnerabilityData[0].Description := 'Description of Vulnerability1'; VulnerabilityData[0].ErrorMessage := 'Error Message of Vulnerability1'; VulnerabilityData[1]...... ..... • How to make Chrome redraw SVG dynamically added content?

  I've dynamacally added the circle elements to the svg displayed in a iFrame. Chrome isnt showing the new elements, not tried FF yet. Is there somekind of redraw/refresh I need to call? I'm pretty sure I got this to work with certain PDFs, but is it really possible that certain PDFs are made incorrectly and cannot be converted?
