  • Assigning specific menu administration rights for roles in drupal

    - by Martin Andersson
    Hello folks. I'm trying to give one of my roles the administrative rights to add/remove content in a specific menu (but not all menus). I think I found a module that should enable something like this, http://drupalmodules.com/module/delegate-menu-administration I've followed the instructions, added the role to my user, checked the "administer some menus" value for that role and checked the "Make admin" field for that role and specific menu in Menus. I also gave the role permissions to change page and story content. However, it still wont let the user add any new content it creates in any menu, and I get an error message saying "warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/martin/www/drupal/modules/delegate_menu_admin/delegate_menu_admin.module on line 346." Line 346 looks like this: foreach ($form['menu']['parent']['#options'] as $key => $value) { I did a print_r($form); in the file just before it and there's no such array that I can see: [menu] => Array ( [#access] => 1 [delete] => Array ( [#access] => ) ) When I gave the role "administer menu" permissions, nothing extra was printed at all, leading me to the assumption that the delegate_menu_admin.module file is not used at all while both the "administer menu" and the "administer some menus" (from the delegate-menu-administration module) permissions are set! Is this some incompatibility between the module because of some drupal update? Or am I just too tired and too stupid? :)

  • Problem running standalone Glassfish v3 client as Eclipse plugin

    - by dmt
    Hello, I'm developing a standalone client that invokes some EJB methods on Glassfish v3. This works well until I'm integrating the client into an Eclipse plugin for running in our RCP application. In this setting there seems to be a classloader problem on initializing the naming context and I get the exception listed below. (The client has gf-client.jar and all its dependencies on its classpath.) It fails on m_ctx = new InitialContext(); with the exception java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: org.eclipse.osgi.internal.baseadaptor.DefaultClassLoader.findResources(java.lang.String) at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Class.java:1605) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.ManifestProxy.<init>(ManifestProxy.java:34) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.ProxyModuleDefinition.<init>(ProxyModuleDefinition.java:78) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.ProxyModuleDefinition.<init>(ProxyModuleDefinition.java:73) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.SingleModulesRegistry.<init>(SingleModulesRegistry.java:42) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.SingleModulesRegistry.<init>(SingleModulesRegistry.java:30) at com.sun.enterprise.module.single.StaticModulesRegistry.<init>(StaticModulesRegistry.java:60) at org.glassfish.internal.api.Globals.getStaticHabitat(Globals.java:67) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.<init>(SerialContext.java:183) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialContext.<init>(SerialContext.java:253) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialInitContextFactory.createInitialContext(SerialInitContextFactory.java:121) at com.sun.enterprise.naming.impl.SerialInitContextFactory.getInitialContext(SerialInitContextFactory.java:116) at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.java:667) at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:288) at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:223) at javax.naming.InitialContext.<init>(InitialContext.java:175) Has anybody an idea how to solve this problem? • django inner redirects

    Hello I have one project that in my own development computer (uses mod_wsgi to serve the project) caused no problems. In live server (uses mod_fastcgi) it generates 500 though. my url conf is like this: # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from django.conf.urls.defaults import * # Uncomment the next two lines to enable the admin: from django.contrib import admin admin.autodiscover() urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), url(r'^', include('jalka.game.urls')), ) and # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from django.conf.urls.defaults import * from django.contrib.auth import views as auth_views urlpatterns = patterns('jalka.game.views', url(r'^$', view = 'front', name = 'front',), url(r'^ennusta/(?P<game_id>\d+)/$', view = 'ennusta', name = 'ennusta',), url(r'^login/$', auth_views.login, {'template_name': 'game/login.html'}, name='auth_login'), url(r'^logout/$', auth_views.logout, {'template_name': 'game/logout.html'}, name='auth_logout'), url(r'^arvuta/$', view = 'arvuta', name = 'arvuta',), ) and .htaccess is like that: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=10 # RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} . • How to change column width of a table

    For the following code, I am not able to set the column size to a custom size. Why is it so?Also the first column is not being displayed. import java.awt.BorderLayout; import java.awt.GridLayout; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JTable; import javax.swing.table.TableColumn; public class Trial extends JFrame{ public void create(){ JPanel jp = new JPanel(); String[] string = {" ", "A"}; Object[][] data = {{"A", "0"},{"B", "3"},{"C","5"},{"D","-"}}; JTable table = new JTable(data, string); jp.setLayout(new GridLayout(2,0)); jp.add(table); table.setAutoResizeMode(JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_OFF); TableColumn column = null; for (int i = 0; i < 2; i++) { column = table.getColumnModel().getColumn(i); column.setPreferredWidth(20); //custom size } setLayout(new BorderLayout()); add(jp); } public static void main(String [] a){ Trial trial = new Trial(); trial.setSize(300,300); trial.setVisible(true); trial.setDefaultCloseOperation(Trial.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); trial.create(); } }

  • Java swing hold buttons

    - by Simon Charette
    Hi, I'm trying to create a subclass of JButton or AbstractButton that would call specified .actionPerformed as long as the mouse is held down on the button. So far I was thinking of extending JButton, adding a mouse listener on creation (inside constructor) and calling actionPerformed while the mouse is down. So far i came up with that but I was wondwering if I was on the right track and if so, how to correctly implement the "held down" logic. package components; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseListener; import javax.swing.Action; import javax.swing.Icon; import javax.swing.JButton; public class HoldButton extends JButton { private class HeldDownMouseListener implements MouseListener { private boolean mouseIsHeldDown; private HoldButton button; private long millis; public HeldDownMouseListener(HoldButton button, long millis) { this.button = button; this.millis = millis; } @Override public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mouseExited(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mousePressed(MouseEvent arg0) { mouseIsHeldDown = true; // This should be run in a sub thread? // while (mouseIsHeldDown) { // button.fireActionPerformed(new ActionEvent(button, ActionEvent.ACTION_PERFORMED, "heldDown")); // try { // Thread.sleep(millis); // } catch (InterruptedException e) { // e.printStackTrace(); // continue; // } // } } @Override public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent arg0) { mouseIsHeldDown = false; } } public HoldButton() { addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(Icon icon) { super(icon); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(String text) { super(text); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(Action a) { super(a); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } private void addHeldDownMouseListener() { addMouseListener(new HeldDownMouseListener(this, 300)); } } Thanks a lot for your time.

  • sqlalchemy relation through another (declarative)

    - by clayg
    Is anyone familiar with ActiveRecord's "has_many :through" relations for models? I'm not really a Rails guy, but that's basically what I'm trying to do. As a contrived example consider Projects, Programmers, and Assignments: from sqlalchemy import create_engine from sqlalchemy.orm import sessionmaker from sqlalchemy import Column, ForeignKey from sqlalchemy.types import Integer, String, Text from sqlalchemy.orm import relation from sqlalchemy.ext.declarative import declarative_base Base = declarative_base() class Assignment(Base): __tablename__ = 'assignment' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) description = Column(Text) programmer_id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('programmer.id')) project_id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('project.id')) def __init__(self, description=description): self.description = description def __repr__(self): return '<Assignment("%s")>' % self.description class Programmer(Base): __tablename__ = 'programmer' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) name = Column(String(64)) assignments = relation("Assignment", backref='programmer') def __init__(self, name=name): self.name = name def __repr__(self): return '<Programmer("%s")>' % self.name class Project(Base): __tablename__ = 'project' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) name = Column(String(64)) description = Column(Text) assignments = relation("Assignment", backref='project') def __init__(self, name=name, description=description): self.name = name self.description = description def __repr__(self): return '<Project("%s", "%s...")>' % (self.name, self.description[:10]) engine = create_engine('sqlite://') Base.metadata.create_all(engine) Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) session = Session() Projects have many Assignments. Programmers have many Assignments. (understatement?) But in my office at least, Programmers also have many Projects - I'd like this relationship to be inferred through the Assignments assigned to the Programmer. I'd like the Programmer model to have a attribute "projects" which will return a list of Projects associated to the Programmer through the Assignment model. me = session.query(Programmer).filter_by(name='clay').one() projects = session.query(Project).\ join(Project.assignments).\ join(Assignment.programmer).\ filter(Programmer.id==me.id).all() How can I describe this relationship clearly and simply using the sqlalchemy declarative syntax? Thanks!

  • How do I get my code to read the spaces between longs?

    - by WahtsUpWorld
    I apologize for any inconvenience that may occur in answering my question, I'm fairly new to programming and I'm so far only in the last weeks of my community college Java I class. The problem I am facing is in my code of which I cannot seem to get the PrintWriter to address the spaces in between my longs' phone number and social security I.D. The entire code consists of two classes in which one pulls from the other the information needed to parse and present the file writer/print writer. Here is the entire code w/ the second class after it: public class FinalProjectGroup1 { public static void main(String[] args) { } public String name; public long ssid; public double pay; public String address; public long number; public void cleanUpConstructor() {} public FinalProjectGroup1(String name, String address, double pay, long ssid, long number){ this.name = name; this.pay = pay; this.ssid = ssid; this.address = address; this.number = number; cleanUpConstructor(); } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setPay(double pay) { this.pay = pay; } public double getPay() { return pay; } public void setSSID(long ssid) { this.ssid = ssid; } public long getSSID() { return ssid; } public void setAddress(String address) { this.address = address; } public String getAddress() { return address; } public void setNumber(long number) { this.number = number; } public long getNumber() { return number; } } SECOND CLASS import java.awt.EventQueue; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JLabel; • Android Accessing Accelerometer: Returns always 0 as Value

    - by Rotesmofa
    Hello there, i would like to use the accelerometer in an Android Handset for my Application. The data from the sensor will be saved together with a GPS Point, so the Value is only needed when the GPS Point is updated. If i use the attached Code the values is always zero. API Level 8 Permissions: Internet, Fine Location Testing Device: Galaxy S(i9000), Nexus One Any Suggestions? I am stuck at this point. Best regards from Germany, Pascal import android.app.Activity; import android.hardware.Sensor; import android.hardware.SensorEvent; import android.hardware.SensorEventListener; import android.hardware.SensorManager; import android.os.Bundle; public class AccelerometerService extends Activity{ AccelerometerData accelerometerData; private SensorManager mSensorManager; private float x,y,z; private class AccelerometerData implements SensorEventListener{ public void onSensorChanged(SensorEvent event) { x = event.values[0]; y = event.values[1]; z = event.values[2]; } public void onAccuracyChanged(Sensor sensor, int accuracy) {} } @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); mSensorManager = (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); mSensorManager.registerListener(accelerometerData, mSensorManager.getDefaultSensor(Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER), SensorManager.SENSOR_DELAY_FASTEST); } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); } @Override protected void onStop() { mSensorManager.unregisterListener(accelerometerData); super.onStop(); } public String getSensorString() { return ("X: " + x+"m/s, Y: "+ y +"m/s, Z: "+ z +"m/s" ); } }

  • CSS styles are not applied to elements added to JavaFX component tree

    - by pazabo
    I have applied CSS style to JavaFX components and it looks like everything is working fine except one situation: when I add JavaFX components to component tree on-the-fly their CSS styles are not applied. For example following code: package test; import javafx.stage.Stage; import javafx.scene.Scene; import javafx.scene.shape.Rectangle; import javafx.scene.input.MouseEvent; import javafx.util.Math; import javafx.scene.paint.Color; function getRect(): Rectangle { return Rectangle { x: 230 * Math.random() y: 60 * Math.random() width: 20, height: 20 styleClass: "abc" } } def stage: Stage = Stage { scene: Scene { width: 250, height: 80 stylesheets: "{__DIR__}main.css" content: [ Rectangle { x: 0, y: 0, width: 250, height: 80 fill: Color.WHITE onMouseClicked: function (evt: MouseEvent): Void { insert getRect() into stage.scene.content; } } getRect() ] } } with following stylesheet: .abc { fill: red; } in main.css file (both in test package) display red square on white background, but after clicking the main rectangle black (not red) squares are added to scene. I noticed that: Components added dynamically look just like style information was not applied. If you set their style in JavaFX code then everything works fine. After changing stylesheets property (so that it points to another valid stylesheet) the objects already added render properly. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? I could of course put all the properties into JavaFX code or provide another stylesheet (for every existing stylesheed) that would contain the same data and change stylesheet right after adding any component, but I would like to find some elegant solution. Thanks in advance.

  • Adding time to a timer/counter

    - by BoneStarr
    I've looked all over the web and everyone can teach you how to make a timer for your game or a countdown, but I can't seem to find out how to add time to an already counting timer. So here is my counter class: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Stage; import flash.text.TextField; import flash.events.Event; import flash.utils.Timer; import flash.events.TimerEvent; public class Score extends MovieClip { public var second:Number = 0; public var timer:Timer = new Timer(100); private var stageRef:Stage; public function Score(stageRef:Stage) { x = 560.95; y = 31.35; this.stageRef = stageRef; timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, scoreTimer); timer.start(); } public function scoreTimer(evt:TimerEvent):void { second += 1; scoreDisplay.text = String("Score: " +second); } That works without any issues or problems and just keeps counting upwards at a speed of 100ms, what I want to know is how to add say 30 seconds if something happens in my game, say you kill an enemy for example. Please help!

  • Creating self-referential tables with polymorphism in SQLALchemy

    - by Jace
    I'm trying to create a db structure in which I have many types of content entities, of which one, a Comment, can be attached to any other. Consider the following: from datetime import datetime from sqlalchemy import create_engine from sqlalchemy import Column, ForeignKey from sqlalchemy import Unicode, Integer, DateTime from sqlalchemy.orm import relation, backref from sqlalchemy.ext.declarative import declarative_base Base = declarative_base() class Entity(Base): __tablename__ = 'entities' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) created_at = Column(DateTime, default=datetime.utcnow, nullable=False) edited_at = Column(DateTime, default=datetime.utcnow, onupdate=datetime.utcnow, nullable=False) type = Column(Unicode(20), nullable=False) __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_on': type} # <...insert some models based on Entity...> class Comment(Entity): __tablename__ = 'comments' __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_identity': u'comment'} id = Column(None, ForeignKey('entities.id'), primary_key=True) _idref = relation(Entity, foreign_keys=id, primaryjoin=id == Entity.id) attached_to_id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('entities.id'), nullable=False) #attached_to = relation(Entity, remote_side=[Entity.id]) attached_to = relation(Entity, foreign_keys=attached_to_id, primaryjoin=attached_to_id == Entity.id, backref=backref('comments', cascade="all, delete-orphan")) text = Column(Unicode(255), nullable=False) engine = create_engine('sqlite://', echo=True) Base.metadata.bind = engine Base.metadata.create_all(engine) This seems about right, except SQLAlchemy doesn't like having two foreign keys pointing to the same parent. It says ArgumentError: Can't determine join between 'entities' and 'comments'; tables have more than one foreign key constraint relationship between them. Please specify the 'onclause' of this join explicitly. How do I specify onclause?

    - by sebastyuiop
    Right, I'm trying to make an app that has a calculation that involves a stopwatch. When a button on the calculation view is clicked a stopwatch slides in from the bottom. This all works fine, the problem I can't get my head around is how to send the recorded time back to the previous controller to update a textfield. I've simplified the code and stripped out most irrelevant stuff. Many thanks. CalculationViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface CalculationViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { IBOutlet UITextField *inputTxt; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *inputTxt; - (IBAction)showTimer:(id)sender; @end CalculationViewController.m #import "CalculationViewController.h" #import "TimerViewController.h" @implementation CalculationViewController - (IBAction)showTimer:(id)sender { TimerViewController *timerView = [[TimerViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:timerView animated:YES]; } TimerViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface TimerViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UILabel *time; NSTimer *myTicker; } - (IBAction)start; - (IBAction)stop; - (IBAction)reset; - (void)showActivity; @end TimerViewController.m #import "TimerViewController.h" #import "CalculationViewController.h" @implementation TimerViewController - (IBAction)start { myTicker = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1.0 target:self selector:@selector(showActivity) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } - (IBAction)stop { [myTicker invalidate]; #Update inputTxt on calculation view here [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } - (IBAction)reset { time.text = @"0"; } - (void)showActivity { int currentTime = [time.text intValue]; int newTime = currentTime + 1; time.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", newTime]; } @end

  • How do I render *parts* of a svg file?

    - by Fake Code Monkey Rashid
    Hello good people! :) I want to render parts of a svg file by name but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do so (using python + gtk). Here's the svg file in question: http://david.bellot.free.fr/svg-cards/files/SVG-cards-2.0.1.tar.gz On his site, David, says: You can draw a card either by rendering the file onto a pixmap and clipping each card manually or by using the card's name through a DOM interface. All cards are embedded into a SVG group. I don't know what he means by a DOM interface. I have done some searching and the best result I found that seems to fit what I want to do is: QSvgRenderer *renderer = new QSvgRenderer(QLatin1String("SvgCardDeck.svg")); QGraphicsSvgItem *black = new QGraphicsSvgItem(); QGraphicsSvgItem *red = new QGraphicsSvgItem(); black->setSharedRenderer(renderer); black->setElementId(QLatin1String("black_joker")); red->setSharedRenderer(renderer); red->setElementId(QLatin1String("red_joker")); Notice however that it is for Qt and is not even written in python. This is what I have so far: #!/usr/bin/env python from __future__ import absolute_import import cairo import gtk import rsvg from xml import xpath from xml.dom import minidom window = gtk.Window() window.set_title("Foo") window.set_size_request(256, 256) window.set_property("resizable", False) window.set_position(gtk.WIN_POS_CENTER) window.connect("destroy", gtk.main_quit) window.show() document = minidom.parse("cards.svg") element = xpath.Evaluate("//*[@id='1_club']", document)[0] xml = element.toxml() svg = rsvg.Handle() svg.write(xml) pixbuf = svg.get_pixbuf() image = gtk.Image() image.set_from_pixbuf(pixbuf) image.show() window.add(image) gtk.main() It doesn't work, of course. What am I missing?

  • How to use log4j for a axis2 webservice

    - by KItis
    I have created a simple axis2 webservice to understand logging functionality in a webservice. in this sample webservice, when a client calls this webservice, first it reads the log4j.property file. then i can see the logs being printed on console. but i have included file appender too into the property file. but i can not file the log file any where in my sample webapplication. i am using tomcat to run the webservice. following is webservice interface method called by client. package test; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.InputStream; import java.util.Properties; import org.apache.log4j.BasicConfigurator; import org.apache.log4j.Logger; import org.apache.log4j.PropertyConfigurator; public class WSInterface { static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(WSInterface.class); public String log4jTest(String input){ InputStream inputStream = this.getClass().getClassLoader() .getResourceAsStream(input); Properties properties = new Properties(); System.out.println("InputStream is: " + inputStream); //load the inputStream using the Properties try { properties.load(inputStream); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } PropertyConfigurator.configure(properties); logger.debug("Hello World!"); Class myclass = WSInterface.class; String url = myclass.getResource("WSInterface.class").toString(); String output = ""; return url; } }

  • writing CMS in ZEND

    - by Neoman
    Hello guys, I'm trying to write my own CMS using Zend framework and I created modular structure. I have modules like 'news', 'blog' and etc. Also I have "admin" module which has different layout and this is like the administrator panel where admin can edit all the content and etc. But the problem is that I'm looking for the best practice and solution to solve the problem. I don't like the idea that my admin module will have a lot of controllers which will be for administer all the other modules. So I want to ask you all, maybe you have some tuts or just have an advice how to implement admin module separated from other modules as much as it can be done. Because I just want to copy one module for example from one project to another and I want it will work same. I don't want to search the right admin controller, view or something like this in admin module and copy this part seperatelly into new admin module. Hope the question and situation is clear enough and I will be happy to hear any advice or see any tutorials how to do it. Thanks guys!

  • Applet panels, one fixed size, and dynamic JTextField

    - by Kristoffersen
    Hi, I need an applet which contains one panel. The panel needs to be 550x400 pixels, the JTextField needs to be under the panel dynamic size. I want it to be like this: [topPanel] [textPanel] However I am trying this, and it seems like the panel is filling all the space. The code: import java.awt.BorderLayout; import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Dimension; import javax.swing.JApplet; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JTextField; public class Client extends JApplet { @Override public void init() { try { java.awt.EventQueue.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { initComponents(); } }); } catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } private void initComponents() { JPanel topPanel = new javax.swing.JPanel(); topPanel.setBackground(Color.red); topPanel.setSize(550, 400); topPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(550, 400)); topPanel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(550, 400)); topPanel.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(550, 400)); JTextField myTextBox = new JTextField(255); getContentPane().add(topPanel, java.awt.BorderLayout.NORTH); getContentPane().add(myTextBox, java.awt.BorderLayout.SOUTH); } // TODO overwrite start(), stop() and destroy() methods } Thanks!

  • Run a flash movie in flex application.

    - by Irwin
    I've a flash movie that I would like to use inside of a flex application, very similar to a preloader. Looking at this tutorial, http://www.flexer.info/2008/02/07/very-first-flex-preloader-customization/, I expected it would be a matter of not extending "Preloader" and extending "Sprite" and using the class i created wherever i needed. Alas, the movie I created, is not being shown. This is the code for my class containing the movie, made based on the tutorial above: package { import mx.preloaders.DownloadProgressBar; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.ProgressEvent; import flash.events.Event; import mx.events.FlexEvent; import flash.display.MovieClip; public class PlayerAnimation extends Sprite { [Embed("Player.swf")] public var PlayerGraphic:Class; public var mc:MovieClip; public function PlayerAnimation():void { super(); mc = new PlayerGraphic(); addChild(mc); } public function Play():void { mc.gotoAndStop(2); } } }

  • Why does my iOS app crash when trying presentModalViewController?

    - by user555807
    I've been banging my head against this all day, it seems like something simple but I can't figure it out. I've got an iOS app that I created using the "View-based Application" template in XCode. Here is essentially the code I have: AppDelegate.h: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; MainViewController *viewController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet MainViewController *viewController; @end AppDelegate.m: #import "AppDelegate.h" #import "MainViewController.h" @implementation AppDelegate @synthesize window, viewController; - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { [self.window addSubview:viewController.view]; [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end MainViewController.h: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface MainViewController : UIViewController { } -(IBAction) button:(id)sender; @end MainViewController.m: #import "MainViewController.h" #import "ModalViewController.h" @implementation MainViewController ... -(IBAction) button:(id)sender { ModalViewController *mvc = [[[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:NSStringFromClass([ModalViewController class]) bundle:nil] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:mvc animated:YES]; } @end There's nothing of interest in the ModalViewController. So the modal view should display when the button is pressed. When I press the button, it hangs for a second then crashes back to the home screen with no error message. I am stumped, please show me what I'm doing wrong!

  • Do complex JOINs cause high coupling and maintenance problems ?

    - by ashkan.kh.nazary
    Our project has ~40 tables with complex relations.A colleague believes in using long join queries which enforces me to learn about tables outside of my module but I think I should not concern about tables not directly related to my module and use data access functions (written by those responsible for other modules) when I need data from them. Let me clarify: I am responsible for the ContactVendor module which enables the customers to contact the vendor and start a conversation about some specific product. Products module has it's own complex tables and relations with functions that encapsulate details (for example i18n, activation, product availability etc ...). Now I need to show the product title of some product related to some conversation between the vendor and customers. I may either write a long query that retrieves the product info along with conversation stuff in one shot (which enforces me to learn about Product tables) OR I may pass the relevant product_id to the get_product_info(int) function. First approach is obviously demanding and introduces many bad practices and things I normally consider fault in programming. The problem with the second approach seems to be the countless mini queries these access functions cause and performance loss is a concern when a loop tries to fetch product titles for 100 products using functions that each perform a separate query. So I'm stuck between "don't code to the implementation, code to interface" and performance. What is the right way of doing things ? UPDATE: I'm specially concerned about possible future modifications to those tables outside of my module. What if the Products module decided to change the way they are doing things? or for some reason modify the schema? It means some other modules would break or malfunction until the change is integrated to them. The usual ripple effect problem.

  • Cyclic Reference - protocols and subclasses

    - by blindJesse
    I'm getting some cyclic reference (I think) problems between a few classes that require imported headers due to either subclassing or protocol definitions. I can explain why things are set up this way but I'm not sure it's essential. Basically these classes are managing reciprocal to-many data relationships. The layout is this: Class A imports Class B because it's a delegate of Class B and needs its protocol definition. Class B imports Class C because it's a subclass of Class C. Class C imports Class A because it's a delegate of Class A and needs its protocol definition. Here's some sample code that illustrates the problem. The errors I'm getting are as follows: In Class A - "Can't find protocol definition for Class_B_Delegate". In Class B - "Can't find interface declaration for Class C - superclass of Class B." In Class C - "Can't find protocol definition for Class_A_Delegate". Class A header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_B.h" @protocol Class_A_Delegate @end @interface Class_A : NSObject <Class_B_Delegate> { } @end Class B header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_C.h" @protocol Class_B_Delegate <NSObject> @end @interface Class_B : Class_C { } @end Class C Header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_A.h" @interface Class_C : NSObject <Class_A_Delegate> { } @end

  • Why am i getting same values of different JSON date values?

    - by Maxood
    I do not know the reason why am i getting same values of different JSON date values. Here is my code for parsing date values in JSON date format: package com.jsondate.parsing; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; import android.widget.TextView; public class JSONDateParsing extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ String myString; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TextView tv = new TextView(this); //Date d = (new Date(1266029455L)); //Date d = (new Date(1266312467L)); Date d = (new Date(1266036226L)); //String s = d.getDate() + "-" + d.getMonth() + "-" + d.getYear() + d.getHours() + d.getMinutes() + d.getSeconds(); // SimpleDateFormat sdf=new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy MMM dd @ hh:mm aa"); //Toast.makeText(this, d.toString(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT); Log.e("Value:", d.toString()); myString = d.toString(); String []words = myString.split(" "); for(int i = 0;i < words.length; i++) Log.e("Value:", words[i]); myString = words[2] + "-" + words[1] + "-" + words[5] + " " + words[3]; tv.setText(myString); setContentView(tv); } }

  • Very slow guards in my monadic random implementation (haskell)

    - by danpriduha
    Hi! I was tried to write one random number generator implementation, based on number class. I also add there Monad and MonadPlus instance. What mean "MonadPlus" and why I add this instance? Because of I want to use guards like here: -- test.hs -- import RandomMonad import Control.Monad import System.Random x = Rand (randomR (1 ::Integer, 3)) ::Rand StdGen Integer y = do a <-x guard (a /=2) guard (a /=1) return a here comes RandomMonad.hs file contents: -- RandomMonad.hs -- module RandomMonad where import Control.Monad import System.Random import Data.List data RandomGen g => Rand g a = Rand (g ->(a,g)) | RandZero instance (Show g, RandomGen g) => Monad (Rand g) where return x = Rand (\g ->(x,g)) (RandZero)>>= _ = RandZero (Rand argTransformer)>>=(parametricRandom) = Rand funTransformer where funTransformer g | isZero x = funTransformer g1 | otherwise = (getRandom x g1,getGen x g1) where x = parametricRandom val (val,g1) = argTransformer g isZero RandZero = True isZero _ = False instance (Show g, RandomGen g) => MonadPlus (Rand g) where mzero = RandZero RandZero `mplus` x = x x `mplus` RandZero = x x `mplus` y = x getRandom :: RandomGen g => Rand g a ->g ->a getRandom (Rand f) g = (fst (f g)) getGen :: RandomGen g => Rand g a ->g -> g getGen (Rand f) g = snd (f g) when I run ghci interpreter, and give following command getRandom y (mkStdGen 2000000000) I can see memory overflow on my computer (1G). It's not expected, and if I delete one guard, it works very fast. Why in this case it works too slow? What I do wrong?

  • Why am I getting a ParseException when using SimpleDateFormat to format a date and then parse it?

    - by Greg
    I have been debugging some existing code for which unit tests are failing on my system, but not on colleagues' systems. The root cause is that SimpleDateFormat is throwing ParseExceptions when parsing dates that should be parseable. I created a unit test that demonstrates the code that is failing on my system: import java.text.DateFormat; import java.text.ParseException; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import java.util.TimeZone; import junit.framework.TestCase; public class FormatsTest extends TestCase { public void testParse() throws ParseException { DateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMddHHmmss.SSS Z"); formatter.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getDefault()); formatter.setLenient(false); formatter.parse(formatter.format(new Date())); } } This test throws a ParseException on my system, but runs successfully on other systems. java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date: "20100603100243.118 -0600" at java.text.DateFormat.parse(DateFormat.java:352) at FormatsTest.testParse(FormatsTest.java:16) I have found that I can setLenient(true) and the test will succeed. The setLenient(false) is what is used in the production code that this test mimics, so I don't want to change it.
