  I'm trying to learn a language and I want to be able to open the English version of a book and the German one together on the screen to compare etc.I'm particularly interested in displaying Kindle-typebooks side-by-side. I need software that is simple to use and not-too-ugly looking. Ha.   Lets say I have two variables defining separate selectors, for example... var parent = $('.parent'); var child = $('.child'); And I want to create a something like the following... $(parent + child).click(); Which should be equivalent to doing this (if it was correct syntax)... $('.parent .child').click(); This may not be best practice, however I am curious if it is possible. • Can two Linux installations share the same /home partition?

  I am currently using OpenSuse 11.4 and Windows XP in laptop. I was planning to remove the Windows and switch to install Kubuntu. My current situation is that I have my root (/) and /home partition separated in OpenSuse. Can I share the /home partition between OpenSuse and Kubuntu? How do I configure Kubuntu to use the existing /home partition during the installation? BTW, the most recent Kubuntu is using ext3 file system whereas my OpenSuse is using ext3. Will this a matter for me to install Kubuntu? Any other issue I need to take care of?

• Two users using the same same user profile while not in a domain.

  I have a windows server 2003 acting as a terminal server, this computer is not a member of any domain. We demo our product on the server by creating a user account. The person logs in uses the demo for a few weeks and when they are done we delete the user account. However every time we do this it creates a new folder in C:\Documents and Settings\. I know with domains you can have many users point at one profile and make it read only so all changes are dumped afterwords, but is there a way to do that when the machine is not on a domain? I would really like it if I didn't have to remote in and clean up the folders every time.

  I am trying to set up a more complex Active Directory structure for some testing purposes. What I did so far: set up 2 windows (one 2008 and one 2003) to control the same domain set up an Organizational Unit (ou): Developers set up 2 child OUs: "one" and "two" each OU has it's admin: adminOne and adminTwo I denied all access to OU "two" by removing on the Security tab all the groups I don't want to access it. now, when I log in as adminOne and I try to click on OU "two" it says I don't have permissions to see the users and properties of "two" - this is perfect, it's what I want Here comes my problem: I do a LDAP query with the adminOne user on the "Developers" What I expect to happen: I expect to retrieve the users from Developer - One I expect to NOT be able to retrieve the users from Developers - Two What actually happens: ldap shows all the users, both from Developers - One and Developers - Two, even if the user should not have permissions to Developers - Two And now my question: is there any specific settings on Windows 2003 or 2008 Active Directory servers which allow or deny access over LDAP? I could not find any.

  I had a look at question already which talk about algorithm to find loop in a linked list. I have read Floyd's cycle-finding algorithm solution, mentioned at lot of places that we have to take two pointers. One pointer( slower/tortoise ) is increased by one and other pointer( faster/hare ) is increased by 2. When they are equal we find the loop and if faster pointer reaches null there is no loop in the linked list. Now my question is why we increase faster pointer by 2. Why not something else? Increasing by 2 is necessary or we can increase it by X to get the result. Is it necessary that we will find a loop if we increment faster pointer by 2 or there can be the case where we need to increment by 3 or 5 or x.

  I am making a bar chart and I want two separate gradients for each bar. First I want a gradient to go from top to bottom solid red to transparent red. I want to paint over the top of that a gradient that goes from right to left, black to opaque. So - In the bottom left we should have; Bottom left - Alpha 0 Bottom right - Alpha 0 Top left - Alpha 255 Colour Red Top Right - Alpha 255 Colour Black So in effect I want to take a solid colour, add a left to right gradient to black then take the output of that and add a top to bottom gradient to transparency. All this and I want it to be in a single brush, is this even possible? Thanks!

  I've got a couple python web services I'm trying to run on a Fedora 15 box. They're being run by paster, and the only difference in starting them is the config file they read. This seems like a good fit for systemd's instantiated services, but I'd like to be able to control them as a single unit. A systemd target that requires both services seems like the way to approach that. Starting the target does start both services, but stopping the target leaves them running.   I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

  Hi! We are planning to create two sharepoint web applications using SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition. All Users that have access to web app 1, should also be able to access web app 2. This authentication shall be powered by server 2003 active directory. -- do I need to use claims based authentication? If so -- can I use Windows Based Authentication with NTLM for that? The only thing I really want is that users navigating from web app 1 to web app 2 (and vice versa) do not have to authenticate twice. I do NOT want to configure Kerberos if it is not absolutely necessare though... Can you give me any hints? Thanks!

  I have just replaced XP with Server 2008 R2 on my test sever, and have been running 2008 R2 on my dev laptop. When my server was still XP, file sharing just worked, but now it just doesn't. I've enabled everything I can about sharing, and I can ping the server by machine name, but if I try an access a share, I get asked for a password. The passowrd dialog assumes a domain for this user, but neither my laptop admin user nor my server admin user can get past this login. What am I doing wrong?

• Looking for a way to draw a line between two points on a sphere in Three.js

  My app (a flight tracker) needs to draw a line between two points (cities say) on a sphere (earth) along the surface (i.e. the great circle route) using Three.js. I can think of 2 ways - (a) creating Three.js 'Line' with a set of (enough) points that I calculate manually and (b) writing the lines into the texture I use for the sphere after it's loaded but before I apply it as a texture. I can see problems with both (not even sure if (b) is possible in Three.js yet) - anyone think of a better way or have an opinion? Thanks in advance.
