  • VERY strange stack overflow in C++ program

    - by mav
Hello, I wrote a program some time ago (Mac OS X, C++, SDL, FMOD) and it perfomed rather good. But lately I wanted to extend its functionality and added some more code to it. And now, when I run it and try to test the new functionality, the program crashes with SIGABRT. Looking into debugger, on function stack I see: _kill kill$UNIX2003 raise __abort __stack_chk_fail odtworz <-- my function that was was modified As far as I know, "__stack_chk_fail" indicates a stack overflow. But that's not the weirdest thing about it. In this function "odtworz", I have some code like this: ... koniec = 0; while ( koniec == 0 ) { ... if (mode == 1) { ... } else if (mode == 2) { ... } else if (mode == 3) { ... } } mode is a global variable and is set to value "2" in a function before. And now imagine - if I delete the third if statement (mode == 3) which never gets executed in this mode, the program doesn't crash! Deleting code that doesn't even get to be executed helps the situation! Now, I don't want to delete this code because it's for other mode of my program. And it works fine there. So any hints where I can search? What could be possibly wrong with this?

  • Hosted Mac OS X/iPhone development

    - by dwj
I want to try my hand at developing for the iPhone but I don't have an Intel-based Mac available to me; likewise, my budget doesn't include provisions for getting one anytime soon. I've tried messing around with winchain and that hasn't gone too well. I'm not interested in jail-breaking my phone and installing other tools for developing. I've read posts on using older macs with the development tool-kit but haven't tried it yet. In the end I just want to know I can compile without doing a ton of extra work or finding work-arounds. I don't mind only having access to a CLI compiler. Does anyone know of a hosting service that provides a shell access account on Intel-based Mac OS X machines?

  • Using HandVU with OpenCV on Mac OS X 10.6.3

    - by 23tux
Hi, I've tried to user HandVU with OpenCV but when I tried to run "hvOpenCV config/default.conductor" I get a "Segmentation fault". Anybody know this problem? macbook:handvu-beta3 User$ hvOpenCV config/default.conductor will load conductor from file: config/default.conductor Segmentation fault I installed OpenCV through http://opencv.willowgarage.com/wiki/Mac_OS_X_OpenCV_Port on Mac OS X 10.6.3, and HandVU through http://www.movesinstitute.org/~kolsch/HandVu/doc/InstallationLinux.html#source I think it's a problem with opencv, because if I'm trying to run the peopledetect example, I get a segmentation fault too. macbook:c User$ ./peopledetect pic1.png Segmentation fault And if I try to run the facedetect sample I get an error too: macbook:c User$ ./facedetect --cascade="../../haarcascades/haarcascade_frontalface_alt.xml" Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display "/tmp/launch-WUMho1/org.x:0". Hope someone can help! thx, tux

  • Getting Attributes of Keychain Items

    - by rgov
    I'm trying to get the attributes of a keychain item. This code should look up all the available attributes, then print off their tags and contents. According to the docs I should be seeing tags like 'cdat', but instead they just look like an index (i.e., the first tag is 0, next is 1). This makes it pretty useless since I can't tell which attribute is the one I'm looking for. SecItemClass itemClass; SecKeychainItemCopyAttributesAndData(itemRef, NULL, &itemClass, NULL, NULL, NULL); SecKeychainRef keychainRef; SecKeychainItemCopyKeychain(itemRef, &keychainRef); SecKeychainAttributeInfo *attrInfo; SecKeychainAttributeInfoForItemID(keychainRef, itemClass, &attrInfo); SecKeychainAttributeList *attributes; SecKeychainItemCopyAttributesAndData(itemRef, attrInfo, NULL, &attributes, 0, NULL); for (int i = 0; i < attributes->count; i ++) { SecKeychainAttribute attr = attributes->attr[i]; NSLog(@"%08x %@", attr.tag, [NSData dataWithBytes:attr.data length:attr.length]); } SecKeychainFreeAttributeInfo(attrInfo); SecKeychainItemFreeAttributesAndData(attributes, NULL); CFRelease(itemRef); CFRelease(keychainRef);

  • Leopard => Snow Leopard architecture woes with nokogiri / rails

    - by Julian
I'm confused. It's a regular state of affairs for me but specifically in this case I felt I could reach out to fellow stackoverflowers (that is, stackoverflow-ers, not stackover-flowers). uname -a Darwin macbookpro 10.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.3.0: Fri Feb 26 11:58:09 PST 2010; root:xnu-1504.3.12~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 set bash-3.2$ set ... HOSTTYPE=x86_64 ... MACHTYPE=x86_64-apple-darwin10.0 ... I'm having a nightmare rebuilding some native ruby gems and I'm wondering whether this is part of the problem -- part of this machine says its 64 bit but another part 32 ... as far as I can tell? Under 'About this Mac' it says 'Intel Core 2 Duo' which Apple says is 64 bit. So why, after doing sudo gem pristine --all am I still getting this kind of error? dlopen(/Applications/Rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/nokogiri-1.4.2/lib/nokogiri/nokogiri.bundle, 9): no suitable image found. Did find: /Applications/Rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/nokogiri-1.4.2/lib/nokogiri/nokogiri.bundle: mach-o, but wrong architecture - /Applications/Rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/nokogiri-1.4.2/lib/nokogiri/nokogiri.bundle Specifically I had removed nokogiri and reinstalled it. No errors in output. bash-3.2$ sudo gem install nokogiri Building native extensions. This could take a while... Successfully installed nokogiri-1.4.2 1 gem installed thanks for any thoughts!

  • How do you use any2mobi command line tool (part of Calibre) to make mobi files from HTML?

    - by Paul Chernoch
I am on MAC OS X 10.5.5. I installed Calibre, a tool for converting e-book files from one format to another. It has a GUI as well as command line tools. I am trying to run the command line tool "any2mobi" to convert HTML files to MOBI pocket format or Kindle AZW format, with a TOC. I get the error "-bash: any2mobi: command not found". Clearly, any2mobi is not in my path. Where is it? I tried searching but came up empty. I installed version 0.6.0b6 of Calibre.

How can I add a start up item via command line on a mac? From googling, I know you have to edit ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginitems.plist using defaults write com.apple.loginitems [key] [value] but i'm not sure exactly which things to edit.

  • GDB Not Skipping Functions without Debug Info

    - by Alan Lue
I compiled GDB 7 on a Mac OS X Leopard system. When stepping through a C program, GDB fails to step through 'printf()' statements, which probably don't have associated debug information, and starts printing "Cannot find bounds of current function." Here's some output: $ /usr/local/bin/gdb try1 GNU gdb (GDB) 7.1 Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc. • Ruby on Rails undefined method `camelize' for "app":String

    - by Lukasz
Hi! I just tried to play with Ruby on Rails on Snow Leopard. I was following this tutorial: http://developer.apple.com/tools/rubyonrails.html Whatever I try to do with rails I end up with: MacBook-Pro-lm:~ lukasz$ rails blog **undefined method `camelize' for "app":String** MacBook-Pro-lm:~ lukasz$ rails --help **undefined method `camelize' for "app":String** Really basic things... however - verbosing rails works: MacBook-Pro-lm:bin lukasz$ rails -v Rails 2.3.5 MacBook-Pro-lm:~ lukasz$ ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2010-01-10 patchlevel 249) [i686-darwin10] MacBook-Pro-lm:bin lukasz$ gem -v 1.3.7 So it seems I have installed and upgarded ruby (using macports), rubygems and rails successfully (according to terminal). There are also few other packages installed to support we development like passenger and mysql5, etc... I can find ruby installed in the /opt/local/bin directory. My environment PATH variable is: PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin The is something fishy going on. It must be some stupid basic problem. Google says that there could be a problem with ruby-iconv library but I can not find/install this package using port or gem commands. Plese help.... what am I missing here?

  • install make command without already having make (mac os 10.5)

    - by adam n
I'm trying to write a script that uses the make command, but Mac os 10.5 doesn't come with make installed by default, and when you download the make source code from gnu's website, you have to use make itself to compile and install it. which is hard if you don't have it in the first place. How can I install make? (I know you can get make by installing Xcode and the developer tools that come with mac os, but I don't want people to have to go find their mac os install dvds to be able to use the script.) It doesn't even have to be make, i'm just looking for a utility that you can easily download in a script (using ftp or curl) and use to compile source code.

  • Eclipse 3.5 switching tab is very slow

    - by n179911
I am using eclipse 3.5 (cocoa build) on Macos 10.5 with Java 1.5.0.19. I just have 3 java files opened 1 files ~ 2000 lines the other 2 are ~ 700 lines. But when I switch from 1 file tab to another, eclipse takes a long time (~ 20 seconds) to switch to another tab. I have already change the eclipse.ini to more eclipse.ini -startup ../../../plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.200.v20090520.jar --launcher.library ../../../plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.cocoa.macosx_1.0.0.v20090519 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product -showsplash org.eclipse.platform --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 256m -vmargs -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5 -XstartOnFirstThread -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.carbon.smallFonts -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xms128m -Xmx1024m -Xdock:icon=../Resources/Eclipse.icns -XstartOnFirstThread -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.carbon.smallFonts Is there any way to make eclipse 3.5 more speedy? Thank you.

  • Xcode Error: "Buildfile: build.xml does not exist! Build failed"

    - by user313574
I am trying to use Xcode 3.2 for java tool development. My project has no problem building and shows it built the file build.xml fine and also shows up in file folder fine. When I try to run the .java file, I get the error: "Buildfile: build.xml does not exist! Build failed". Running "ant -find build.xml" in Terminal produces "not found". I believe the problem is that I need to point to my own build.xml location, but I have no idea how to change which directory it looks for this file. Any help is greatly appreciated. -nick Mac OS 10.6, Xcode 3.2.1 - method to create app: OrganizerNew from templateJava Tool

  • Java 1.5 crypto on OS X - AccessControlException

    - by bpapa
I'm trying to do a Google App Engine project on OS X (latest and greatest). I'm using classes from javax.crypto, and I'm seeing an AccessControlException thrown when I try to initialize an instance of the Mac class. • Custom View with Bindings in a NSTableCellView

    - by Kyle Kinkade
i have an XCode 4 project for mac desktop. It has a tableview in it that uses NSTableCellViews. The TableView is connected to an NSArrayController to provide it's content. This is using bindings for custom labels and the like, which has worked out rather well. I have a custom view that i would like to put in the NSTableCellView, which will use custom drawing based on a NSNumber value from my Table Cell View binding. Since XCode 4, you can no longer have ibplugins, which means i can no longer create custom bindings for interface builder to work with. How can I still get this value to my custom view?

  • CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination

    - by tarmes
I'm getting this error when creating a bitmap context: CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination: 8 integer bits/component; 24 bits/pixel; 3-component color space; kCGImageAlphaNone; 7936 bytes/row. Here's the code (note that the context is based on the parameters of an existing CGImage: context = CGBitmapContextCreate(NULL, (int)pi.bufferSizeRequired.width, (int)pi.bufferSizeRequired.height, CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(imageRef), 0, CGImageGetColorSpace(imageRef), CGImageGetBitmapInfo(imageRef)); Width is 2626, height is 3981. I've leaving bytesPerRow at zero so that it gets calculated automatically for me, and it's chosen 7936 of its own accord. So, where on Earth is the inconsistency? It's driving me nuts.

  • java Processbuilder - exec a file which is not in path on OS X

    - by Jakob
Okay i'm trying to make ChucK available in exported Processing sketches, i.e. if i export an app from Processing, the ChucK VM binary will be executed from inside the app. So as a user of said app you don't need to worry about ChucK being in your path at all. Right now i'm generating and executing a bash script file, but this way i don't get any console output from ChucK back into Processing: #!/bin/bash cd "[to where the Chuck executable is located]" ./chuck --kill killall chuck # just to make sure ./chuck chuckScript1.ck cuckScriptn.ck then Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("chmod 777 "+scriptPath); p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(scriptPath); This works but i want to run ChucK directly from Processing instead, but can't get it to execute: String chuckPath = "[folder in which the chuck executable is located]" ProcessBuilder builder = new ProcessBuilder (chuckPath+"/chuck", "test.ck"); final Process process = builder.start(); InputStream is = process.getInputStream(); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr); String line; while((line = br.readLine()) != null) println(line); println("done chuckin'! exitValue: " + process.exitValue()); Sorry if this is newbie style :D

  • SVN (Subversion) Problem "File is scheduled for addition, but is missing" - Using Versions

    - by Mike
I'm using Versions for SVN. I attempt to commit and get this message: Commit failed (details follow): '/Users/mike/Sites/mysite.com/astss-cvsdude/Trunk/cart/flashfile.swf' is scheduled for addition, but is missing I suppose this is because I had added files to the repo, and then deleted them via the filesystem. I'd like to have it simply make note of my change, and apply the change to the repo. How can I get around this?

  • GCC without Xcode on OS X

    - by Konrad Rudolph
I've just unwrapped my new MacBook Pro (yay!) and am now setting it up properly for development. Since I want to avoid clutter, I'm wondering if I really need to install the Xcode tools at all (I never use the IDE or Mac specific tools), since I'll install a newer version of GCC anyway, using MacPorts. So, is there any benefit in installing Xcode? Is it necessary? What kind of set-up does it do behind the scenes? Basically: can I skip this or will it come back to haunt me because some Unix development tools just assume that OS X is always set up in this way?
