  • My wireless connection isn't working well

    So this is my problem, I intalled ubuntu 12.04 with the wubi.exe and everything works fine, but my internet connection. When I try to install a program or use firefox, it goes with 24kb/s with a little luck for 1-2 seconds and then my internet terminates and it starts up again after 3-5 mins. Then it goes with an other 24kb/s and this will repeat. The thing is my connection works perfectly with windows. The laptop its running on is a Acer ASPIRE V3-771G. I tryed using a different network adaptor but that didn't help either. Please, some one help me with this. friendly regards, Maikel

    I'm having a really big problem with installing Ubuntu on my computer. It seems that when I try to install from BIOS from the CD, nothing happens, and when I say nothing happens it boots up my computer like usual. When I try to install from the CD from My Computer directly from the wubi.exe file, nothing happens. THEN when I try to install from the boot helper, it gives me this error: An error occurred: Could not retrieve the required installation files For more information please see the log file: c:\users\Meghan\appdata\local\temp\wubi-14.04-rev286.log Will it help if I say I have a pirated version of Windows? Maybe that's why? I'm frustrated, and I'm not sure what to do. Please help me

    Can I use WUBI as an offline installer? I already had the .iso file of ubuntu 12.10 - i386, and inside the iso is wubi.exe. For example: I will do a partition of, E:30gb then i will target E: in wubi so that it will be Ubuntu then use the .iso file to install it on E: My Computer: Acer Aspire 5750-6683 i5-2450m processor Is it fine to do a dual boot? Can I run Windows 7 Home Premium OS, with the custom theme and boot screen, can that effect dual booting? I just don't want to damage any of files or either any of OS And if I can't boot any of the operating systems what should I do? Can I avoid doing a clean install if that ever happens?

    I want to delete ubuntu 11.10 from dual boot system(windows 7 + ubuntu 11.10). I currently have ubuntu as main OS but I don't want to continue with it further.I don't have CD for win 7 so I am trying other sources. I have downloaded EasyBCD on another system and pasted it on ubuntu. It is .exe file and is not running on ubuntu. I am not aware of any commands regarding installation and further process. :( So,pls suggest what to do next,I would be very thankful. :)

    can someone tell me what I need to do... I downloaded MetaTrader4 setup.exe onto my computer with a new harddrive and new install of ubuntu. I have downloaded wine, and 7zip... I right clicked the setup file... selected "open with Wine Windows Program loader" ... It looks like its going to open and then it closes the icon on the launcher that had appeared as it went to open... What are the settings i need to change? How do I get to "software sources? I am new to linux and new to ubuntu... so please don't assume anything... I am an idiot... lol

  • Couldnt find a way to open blender software

    I am new to Ubuntu. I downloaded the latest version of Blender (2.70a) from official blender.org site as an tar.bz2 file. My Ubuntu OS is 14.04 LTS amd64 bit os, and I am sure that I have downloaded the correct version of blender. I have read that for security reasons, Ubuntu does not allow executing exe files. Since the downloaded package contains blender as an executable/x-executable type, it is not able to execute. I do not have an internet connection in that computer too. Also the "Allow executing file as program" checkbox is checked by default. Still double clicking it does not execute the file. Can anyone say how to open this file? P.S: Wine also checked but requires active internet connection, which I dont have.

So: the problem is: There is no way to make shortcut using bat. Only using third-party applications... Or/and using scripts. I need the program/script... that will get their adress, link shortcut to every single file (...\x\s.exe, desktop\s.lnk; ...\l.txt, desktop\l.lnk)...

    By default WordPress restricts the file types that can be uploaded to /uploads using the default Media Manager. I know it is possible to manually extend the allowed file types. I also know it is possible to change functions.php to allow ALL file types to be uploaded. This restriction obviously exists for security concerns - e.g. someone could upload a harmful .exe Would it not be possible to allow secure upload of all filetypes by setting the permissions of the /uploads directory to prevent execution of any of its contents? Thus it wouldn't matter if someone uploaded a harmful file because it would not be executable on the server...

  • web service filling gridview awfully slow, as is paging/sorting

Cibrax has an alternative implementation that uses the WCF Rest Starter Kit. His recent post reminded me that I should finally “document” that part of our library. Features include: generic plumbing for all WebServiceHost derived WCF services support for SAML and SWT tokens support for ClaimsAuthenticationManager and ClaimsAuthorizationManager based solely on native WCF extensibility points (and WIF) This post walks you through the setup of an OData / WCF DataServices endpoint with token authentication and claims support. This sample is also included in the codeplex download along a similar sample for plain WCF REST services. Afterwards the service will only accept requests with an access token – and svcutil does not support that. All the WIF magic is done in a special service authorization manager called the FederatedWebServiceAuthorizationManager. This code checks incoming calls to see if the Authorization HTTP header (or X-Authorization for environments where you are not allowed to set the authorization header) contains a token. This header must either start with SAML access_token= or WRAP access_token= (for SAML or SWT tokens respectively). For SAML validation, the plumbing uses the normal WIF configuration. For SWT you can either pass in a SimpleWebTokenRequirement or the SwtIssuer, SwtAudience and SwtSigningKey app settings are checked.If the token can be successfully validated, ClaimsAuthenticationManager and ClaimsAuthorizationManager are invoked and the IClaimsPrincipal gets established.     OK – so let’s first start with a simple WCF service and connect that to ADFS 2 for authentication. I also chose mixed mode security (SSL + basic message credential) for best performance. This binding also disables session – you can control that via the establishSecurityContext setting on the binding. This has its pros and cons. Something for a separate blog post, I guess. Next, the behavior section adds support for metadata and WIF: <behaviors>   <serviceBehaviors>     <behavior>       <serviceMetadata httpsGetEnabled="true" />       <federatedServiceHostConfiguration />     </behavior>   </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> The next step is to add the WIF specific configuration (in <microsoft.identityModel />). First we need to specify the key material that we will use to decrypt the incoming tokens. This is optional for web applications but for web services you need to protect the proof key – so this is mandatory (at least for symmetric proof keys, which is the default): <serviceCertificate>   <certificateReference storeLocation="LocalMachine"                         storeName="My"                         x509FindType="FindBySubjectDistinguishedName"                         findValue="CN=Service" /> </serviceCertificate> You also have to specify which incoming tokens you trust. This is accomplished by registering the thumbprint of the signing keys you want to accept.     The Overview I am working on a Continuous Integration build of a MFC appliction via CruiseControl.net and VS2010. When building my .sln, a "Visual Studio" CCNet task (<devenv/>) works, but a simple MSBuild wrapper script (see below) run via the CCNet <msbuild/> task fails with errors like: error RC1015: cannot open include file 'winres.h'.. error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afxwin.h': No such file or directory error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afx.h': No such file or directory The Question How can I adjust the build environment of my msbuild wrapper so that the application builds correctly? (Pretty clearly the MFC paths aren't right for the msbuild environment, but how do i fix it for MSBuild+VS2010+MFC+CCNet?) Background Details We have successfully upgraded an MFC application (.exe with some MFC extension .dlls) to Visual Studio 2010 and can compile the application without issue on developer machines. Now I am working on compiling the application on the CI server environment I did a full installation of VS2010 (Professional) on the build server. In this way, I knew everything I needed would be on the machine (one way or another) and that this would be consistent with developer machines. VS2010 is correctly installed on the CI server, and the devenv task works as expected I now have a wrapper MSBuild script that does some extended version processing and then builds the .sln for the application via an MSBuild task. Given the vs2010 msbuild support for visual c++ projects (.vcxproj), shouldn't msbuilding a solution be pretty close to compiling via visual studio? But how do I do that? Am I setting Environment variables? Registry settings? I can see how one can inject additional directories in some cases, but this seems to need a more systemic configuration at the compiler defaults level. Update 1 This appears to only ever happen in two cases: resource compilation (rc.exe), and precompiled header (stdafx.h) compilation, and only for certain projects? I was thinking it was across the board, but indeed it appears only to be in these cases. I guess I will keep digging and hope someone has some insight they would be willing to share...
