    hi in WinForm on PC i use to run like this: FileStream FS = null; StreamWriter SW = null; FS = new FileStream(@"\Items.txt", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.ReadWrite); SW = new StreamWriter(FS, Encoding.Default); while (SW.Peek() != -1) { TEMP = (SW.ReadLine()); } but when i try this on Windows-mobile i get error: Error 1 'System.IO.StreamWriter' does not contain a definition for 'Peek' and no extension method 'Peek' accepting a first argument of type 'System.IO.StreamWriter' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)     I have a Table Type defined in a database. It is used as a table-valued parameter in a stored procedure. I would like to call this procedure from another database, and in order to pass the parameter, I need to reference this defined type. But when I do DECLARE @table dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName , it tells me that The type name 'dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName' contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 1. How could I reference this table type?

    I've created a WCF service and added it to an existing Silverlight application that I am working on. When I run the silverlight application in debug mode it fails when I reference the WCF web service. Unrecognized element '' in service reference configuration. Note that only a subset of the Windows Communication Foundation configuration functionality is available in Silverlight. After searching around apparently the following line is causing the app to fail: <transport> <extendedProtectionPolicy policyEnforcement="Never" /> </transport> After removing the above lines everything works. What is the issue here? Should I believing this code in and configuring something else?

  • Is it possible to change WCF service without regenerating & recompiling client proxy?

    Let's say I have a WCF service which has a method returning object Person. In one of the clients of this service, I can add service reference to the service and start using its method. Now, let's say the Person class is changed on the server, having a new DataMember added. Other clients will make use of this new DataMember, but my client doesn't. Therefore, this client shouldn't even be aware that the service returns s/t "more" than what it needs. Is there any way that my client can still work with the service without having to update the service reference (which, as I understand, means regenerating the proxy & compiling it)?

    I'm a programmer. I want to be a better programmer. I want to read more source code written by other people (especially open source projects). Also, I'd like to be able to have a on-hand searchable reference to all of that source code so that I can pull up reference to structures and snippets. Does anyone know of a way to use the Kindle for this? Has anyone tried? What were your findings? Additionally, does anyone know of a website that indexes all open source source code?

    How do you use C level factory methods in Swift? Let's try using a factory such as NewMusicSequence(). OSStatus status var sequence:MusicSequence status=NewMusicSequence(&sequence) This errors out with "error: variable 'sequence' passed by reference before being initialized". Set sequence to nil, and you get EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION. You can try being explicit like this: var sp:CMutablePointer<MusicSequence>=nil status=NewMusicSequence(sp) But then you get a bad access exception when you set sp to nil. If you don't set sp, you get an "error: variable 'sp' used before being initialized" Here's the reference.

Ho can I keep the reference to the main object inside XMLHttpRequest events?

  • Creating a VS 2010 Project with only content files.

    I have some content files that I would like to share between a number of projects in Visual Studio. I have put these files in their own project, set the build action to "Content", and the copy to output directory to "Copy if newer". I would like all these files to be copied to the bin/debug directory of the projects that reference them. I can get it to work by including a reference to the "contents" project in each of the projects that need the files, but that requires that a minimal assembly be generated (3K). I assume there is a way, using MSBuild, to make this all work without creating the empty assembly?

Now this property is inherited by JobView and ActivityView but if I need reference to IJobViewPresenter object in these derived classes then I need to type cast IBasePresenter property to IJobViewPresenter or IActivityPresenter (which I want to avoid) or create JobViewPresenter and ActivityViewPresenter on derived classes (as shown above). I want to avoid type casting in derived classes and still have reference to IJobViewPresenter or IActivityViewPresenter and still have IBasePresenter in BaseView. Is there a way I can achieve it ?

    This is likely a novice question about LINQ, but assuming I have a set of Items with a DateTime property, one date having at most one item, how would I go about selecting the N most recent items from a date of reference, that is, the N items which have a date smaller that the requested date, and the largest date? My naive thought would be to first select items with a date smaller than the reference date, sort by date, and select the N first items from that subset. var recentItems = from item in dataContext.Items where item.Date<=date orderby item.Date descending select item; var mostRecentItems = recentItems.Take(5).ToList(); Is this the "right" way to do it, or are there obviously better ways to achieve my goal?

  • HTTP compression - can I configure a client to compress the data sent to a server?

    Hello, I'm using IIS 7 as web server for my application. If I enable dynamic content compression in the server, will this also enable clients to send compressed data to the server, if they can? I mean, my application uses SOAP webservices, and clients usually send large chunks of data to the server. The clients are written in C#/.NET. Is there any kind of configuration I can do in a web reference / serice reference in order to tell them to compress the content before they send it to IIS? And do I have to do any kind of configuration in IIS in order for this to work? Thanks in advance

  • How can I dispose of an object (say a Bitmap) when it becomes orphaned ?

    I have a class A providing Bitmaps to other classes B, C, etc. Now class A holds its bitmaps in a ring queue so after a while it will lose reference to the bitmap. While it's still in the queue, the same Bitmap can be checked out by several classes so that, say, B and C can both hold a reference to this same Bitmap. But it can also happen that only one of them checked out the Bitmap or even none of them. I would like to dispose of the bitmap when it's not being needed any more by either A, B or C. I suppose I have to make B and C responsible for somehow signaling when they're finished using it but I'm not sure about the overall logic. Should it be a call to something like DisposeIfNowOrphan() that would be called : 1 - when the Bitmap gets kicked out of the queue in class A 2 - when B is finished with it 3 - when C is finished with it If that's the best strategy, how can I evaluate the orphan state ? Any advice would be most welcome.

  • Python module seeing a full list as empty in another module

    I'm working on a pygame project and have the main engine layed out. The problem is I hit a bug that I just can not seem to figure out. What happens is one module can't read a variable from another module. It's not that the variable can't be read, it just sees an empty list instead of what it really is. Instead of posting the entire source code I reproduced the bug in two small snippets that hopefully a skillful python-ist can interpret in his\her head.     Hi I need to create an Orchestration in BizTalk 2006r1 that will consume a WCF basicHTTP web service. Does anyone have a pointers on how to do this please? The WCF service has been created by another team but I am able to request that they create an additional endpoint with binding configuration set to make calling from BizTalk SOAP adapter possible. I just created a simple test basicHTTP service that runs fine when tested from a command line client. When I got to BizTalk add web reference I am able to browse to the service but then get a message "Failed to add web reference" and it bombs out! Any help gratefully received. Thanks Rob.

    I am learning C++ and was reading copy constructor from the C++: The Complete Reference. The books says that It is permissible for a copy constructor to have additional parameters as long as they have default arguments defined for them. However, in all cases the first parameter must be a reference to the object doing the initializing. But I am confused that how we are going to pass those additional parameters? I am sure there should be some way which is not given in the book and which I am unable to figure out. Can anyone help me out? EDIT: Also is it possible to pass these extra parameters in all three cases i.e. ¦ When one object explicitly initializes another, such as in a declaration ¦ When a copy of an object is made to be passed to a function ¦ When a temporary object is generated (most commonly, as a return value)

  • Correct way to give users access to additional schemas in Oracle

    I have two users Bob and Alice in Oracle, both created by running the following commands as sysdba from sqlplus: create user $blah identified by $password; grant resource, connect, create view to $blah; I want Bob to have complete access to Alice's schema (that is, all tables), but I'm not sure what grant to run, and whether to run it as sysdba or as Alice. Happy to hear about any good pointers to reference material as well -- don't seem to be able to get a good answer to this from either the Internet or "Oracle Database 10g The Complete Reference", which is sitting on my desk.
