• Change background color of disabled listbox in windows classic theme

  I am developing a WPF application that must run using Windows Classic theme. The application creates a dialog box containing a ListBox. When the dialog box is shown, it must be disabled for 1s before accepting any input. I am accomplishing this with a style trigger, and it works. However, the ListBox shows a white background when it's disabled, which I can't seem to get rid of. When using the aero theme, the following style resource fixes the issue: <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent"/> But when using Windows Classic theme, the white background reappears. How can i remedy the situation for Classic theme???

• CHtmlView class and focus

  I have an SDI application written in MFC. The frame is divided into 1 row and 2 columns using a splitter window. Below are details of Row and Column (R0C0 means Row#0 and Col#0) R0C0 view is a CFormView with multiple input controls like text box, combo box etc. R0C1 view is a CHtmlView that contains HTML content relavant to the control that has input focus in the R0C0 I am able to update the HTML content and also invoke Javascript functions through my MFC code. Problem: When user clicks on the R0C1, continaing CHtmlView, the focus is now on the html page. I wish to allow the user to tab out of R0C1 using the key board and return back to R0C0. Can you help with this please? The user can obviously click on the R0C0 view using mouse but we have a user who needs to use Keyboard for using this functionality. • What is the point of JComboBox's getSelectedItem()?

  I just read the JavaDoc for JComboBox (I promise I have a life... I wasn't reading through for fun. =P), and I think the problems I'm having with my program can be attributed to the getSelectedItem() method. The documentation says: Returns the current selected item. If the combo box is editable, then this value may not have been added to the combo box with addItem, insertItemAt or the data constructors. If you can't get values that were added with those methods or with the constructor, of what use is the method? And how can I get the value from an "editable" JComboBox? It seems most texts cover the testing of application software where it is simpler to generate automated test cases or run a debugger. A book that provided solutions for improving quality in a system where the tests must be performed manually and therefore minimized would be ideal.

• AS3 Font embedding problem in ComboBox on a loaded movie clip

  Hi all, I have three movie clips, say, LoaderMC, ChildMC1, and ChildMC2. ChildMC1 has TLFTextfields in it with embedded fonts. ChildMC2 has both TLFTextfields as well as combo boxes.(with embedded fonts) When I compile those movieclips separately, I can view the combo box texts without any problem. If I load the ChildMC1 and ChildMC2 into the LoaderMC, the texts doesn't appear at all on both TLFtextfields and Combo Boxes. I tried embedding the fonts in the LoaderMC, then, TLFTextfields was able to show the texts but still the ComboBoxes couldn't display the text. If I don't embed the fonts in the combo box, I can able to view the texts. What could be the problem? I read an article which says, "No one has completely understood the font embedding in flash AS3, we just have to do trial and error, to get it done" I don't know how far it is true, but in my case it seems, I should agree! Please help me...

• AJAX call in a continuously loop?

  Hi, I want to create some kind of AJAX script or call that continuously will check a MySQL database if any new messages has arrived. When there is a new message in the database, the AJAX script should invoke a kind of alert box or message box. I’m not quite a AJAX expert (yet anyway) and have Googled around to find a solution but I’m having a hard time to figure out where to begin. I imagine that it is kind of the same method that an AJAX chat is using to see if any new chat-message has been send. I’ve also tried to search for AJAX (httpxmlrequest) call in a continuously and infinity loop but still haven’t got a solution yet. I hope there is someone, which can help me with such a AJAX script or maybe nudge me in the right direction. Thanks Sincerely Mestika

  Installshield 2009 Premier Basic MSI: When I uninstall there is a Message Box saying that explorer has to be closed: [Title] My-Product-Name [List] Explorer [radio button 1, Selected by default] Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete [radio button 2] Do not close applications. (A Reboot will be required) [Ok Button] [Cancel Button] If I click OK [with radio button 1 selected] all opened folders are closed !!! How to get rid of this, I don't want any warning message box to show and not close explorer either? More info: I have a dll which is used to show explorer context menu with icons when we right click on any file/folder. This dll is registered during installation and unregistered during uninstall. When we uninstall WinRAR we don't see any such messages, do we?

• What is the most Word-like ASP.NET custom control that you can buy?

  We are looking to implement a rich-text box in an ASP.NET application and our requirements are specific to using the "Track Changes" features of Microsoft Word. The closest thing we found in the RadEditor by Telerik. This is a nice control that has a "Track Changes" button and will give you the ability to track the changes from the text in the box to now. It does not let you track your changes from the two previous versions. We have used CVSWeb in the past and the display was not great but it did have the ability (in a web page) to diff two different versions of text (source code in this case). Does anyone have any experience or know of any web-based diff tools that work nicely with a rich-text editor in the web?

  Hi All, I am using LSOpenItemsWithRole() to open any file from my appication. It works fine for all files which has a default application to get opened on Mac, but for the files which cannot be open with any default application this method returns an error kLSApplicationNotFoundErr and does nothing. For such cases I want my application to launch the "Choose Application" dialog box, so that end user can choose any application from there to open the file. This dialog box pops up whenever any such file is directly opened by double clickig. Is there is any direct API call to do the same? any help will be appreciated, Thanks in advance! Manish

Treeview shows all folders. if user clicked on treenode their files all displayed in gridview. If user checked some files and selects another node and return back it should display checked files as it is. How do i maintain grid-view checked-box column status..? One more query If i checked specific node it should checked all rows of a gridview.

  I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

For some reason, I can't get his code to work, and I'm wondering if I'm targeting this wrong within my CSS. Can you help? In place of the .drop-shadow class that he uses, I'm target all images wrapped with an a tag within the #main-i div. So, like this... #main-i a img Does anyone know how to target it better than I have so that I can get the drop shadows to be applied for all images within the specified div? Thanks for your help!   Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role? The table to manage roles would basically be like this: Role User ---- ---- admin DOMAIN\UserName [delete] DOMAIN\UserName2 [delete] [add user text box] news DOMAIN\UserName3 [delete] [add user text box]

  I have started prgramming a windows service. I have added a notify icon from the toolbox. It has the small notify icon that appears in the systray as a member of those icons. It works so far. So far I have a blank form. I have used the DoubleClick for the notifyIcon to bring up the form (I will use the form for something later). Now I have a list of things I want to accomplish to make this work like a true windows service. First of all, if possible, I owuld like to remove the maximize and cancel button on the form. Most windos service apps that I have seen offer the ability to close the app by right-mouse-button clicking on the notify icon which brings up a menu of options. I see in the properties of the form under Misc there is an CancelButton. But I do not see how do deactivate it. In the Properties of the forum I see under Window Style there is a ControlBox option that, if I turn to false, all three buttons, (minimize, maximize and cancel) go away. These are not what i am looking for. I would not like the option for them to resize, maximize or close the form here. I suspect people will close the box intending to make the box go away while still wanting the app to run. Under the "Focus" caption in Properties, there id "Deactivate". I have created my own event/method/function for this and in debug I noticed that when you click on the x-box in the upper right corner, this function is called. The problem is that after the function is over, the app closes anyway. How do I over-ride this function? Secondly, how do you catch the right button click event on the notify icon in the systray? I can see how to create events for "Click" and "MouseClick" etc. but how so I determine which button was click? Using the right buton click is how such programs know when to pull up a menu. So I would like to know how to do this as well.

• a loading screen for a c# wpf listbox

  I'm using a list box where there are on average about 500 thumbnails (items) that can be sorted and searched. Since I'm using default databinding and search descriptors (which I've heard are slow due to reflection) the list takes a noticeable pause of a few seconds loading, sorting, and searching (the list dynamically updates based on the contents of the search box so the first one or two letters typed are really slow). I don't think I can fully do away with reflection give the timeframe for the project, and speed isn't super essential, but I'd like some kind of graphical indication of the delay so it doesn't confuse the user. How could I do something like a website video loading screen where the listbox grays out and some kind of loading circle indicates it's processing until the list is ready? Or even just grayed out with the words "Loading..." for a few seconds could work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!!!

  Hey guys, I am working on a game, and wanted to add a screen that would open when the user clicked on certain objects. The screen would be laid out to have an image on the left, a title on the top right, and text below the title. I have a few problems with this, 1) How would I create the popup box? (preferably with rounded edges) 2) How would I wrap the text (in front of the picture, but not outside the popup-box, I may even need vertical scroll bars) 3) How would I account for different screen resolutions (would they even make a difference?) For more information, contact your system administrator." When I RDP into the server and try Microsoft CRM Workflow Manager/Monitor with http or https connectivity, it doesn't work. "The specified Microsoft CRM server is not responding. This might happen if it is currently unavaliable, it is not a Microsoft CRM server, or you are not a valid user. Contact your sys-admin." This is a Microsoft CRM v3.0 / Microsoft SQL server 2005 box, Active directory is on a seperate box.. When I right click Microsoft CRM Worlkflow Service, properties, log on: it shows "crmtestuser" and a password. I did not RDP or try logging in as that crmtestuser, but I am Admin... Could this be a clue? What can I try?

  Hello, I was wondering what the best way to do a live character count of an edit-text box is in Android. I was looking at this but I couldn't seem to make any sense of it. To describe the problem, I have an EditText and I'm trying to limit the characters to 150. I can do this with an input filter, however I want to show right below the text box the number of characters a user has entered(Almost like stack overflow is doing right now).   hi. creating a distributed crawling python app. it consists of a master server, and associated client apps that will run on client servers. the purpose of the client app is to run across a targeted site, to extract specific data. the clients need to go "deep" within the site, behind multiple levels of forms, so each client is specifically geared towards a given site. each client app looks something like main: parse initial url call function level1 (data1) function level1 (data) parse the url, for data1 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level2 (data) function level2 (data2) parse the url, for data2 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level3 function level3 (dat3) parse the url, for data3 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level4 function level4 (data) parse the url, for data4 use the required xpath to get the dom elements at the final function.. --all the data output, and eventually returned to the server --at this point the data has elements from each function... my question: given that the number of calls that is made to the child function by the current function varies, i'm trying to figure out the best approach. each function essentialy fetches a page of content, and then parses the page using a number of different XPath expressions, combined with different regex expressions depending on the site/page. if i run a client on a single box, as a sequential process, it'll take awhile, but the load on the box is rather small. i've thought of attempting to implement the child functions as threads from the current function, but that could be a nightmare, as well as quickly bring the "box" to its knees! i've thought of breaking the app up in a manner that would allow the master to essentially pass packets to the client boxes, in a way to allow each client/function to be run directly from the master. this process requires a bit of rewrite, but it has a number of advantages. a bunch of redundancy, and speed. it would detect if a section of the process was crashing and restart from that point. but not sure if it would be any faster... i'm writing the parsing scripts in python.. so... any thoughts/comments would be appreciated... i can get into a great deal more detail, but didn't want to bore anyone!! thanks! tom
