  • Looking for temporal upsampling / motion interpolation software

    I'm looking for something (prereably FOSS software) which can take an animation with N images as input, and which will output an animation with M frames, where M is in the range 2N to 5N or so. I believe the general technique is called "temporal upsampling" or possibly "inbetweening" (or "'tweening" for short). Note that it does need to make some effort to do motion tracking of things in the scene ("optical flow"); just fading ("dissolve") between keyframes isn't going to cut it. Googling "temporal upsampling" turns up any number of papers on the subject, but I've yet to discover any code/software (a gstreamer plugin would be perfect) I can just use to try the technique out. Any suggestions ? Additional information: "Motion interpolation" seems to be the more widely used name in the TV world for what I'm looking for. See this and the video here too. Interestingly, some cinephiles seem to hate what these technologies do to 24FPS film: e.g a comment "makes Gone With The Wind look like a soap opera shot on video".

  • BSOD Code 16, artifacts all over the place (gtx 260)

    I have a following, quite dated rig E8400 Core 2 Duo cpu Intel Dragontail Peak DP35DP motherboard on Intel Bearlake P35 chipset 4GB ram Geforce 260gtx Corsair 650W PSU Windows 7 64 bit The following things has happened in the last few days. I first decided to update my Nvidia drivers to the latest version. That was 4 days ago. PC worked fine for 2 days and I was able to play few games as well without any problems. Then 2 days ago a first crash happened while playing the new XCOM game. BSOD code 16. Just the blue screen, no artifacts. PC rebooted and worked well again, I continued playing this game for another 2 hours and went to sleep. Next evening I tried to play some BF3 multiplayer (use to play on LOW settings). Approx. 10 minutes into the game red/pink-ish artifacts appeared on the screen and game quit to desktop. Restarted the game and another 3-4 minutes afterwards another crash to desktop but this time followed shortly by BSOD Code 16. From that moment I started to seeing artifacts on random startups, including Windows loading screen and the BIOS itself. Windows would still load but soon enough it would BSOD on a simple task like opening a Internet browser. Today I get tons of artifacts (little small red dashes all over the screen) on BIOS, loading screen, normal Windows mode as well as safe mode. I suspect it wouldn't be drivers but I tried removing and sweeping them entirely in the safe mode. PC would still start with artifacts all over the place but would load the normal mode, just without the driver, in the default lowest resolution. As soon as proper Nvidia drivers are installed though and PC rebooted, Windows doesn't load at all as BSOD now appears on loading screen. However, again, if I go to safe mode and remove drivers, normal mode launches fine. So obviously crash happens only on high resolution. I opened my machine this morning and gave it a proper cleaning even though it wasn't heavily dusted. It didn't help and number of artifacts seems to increase with every PC restart. I write these words in safe mode, which works, but I have to look through all the red dots and dashes. I don't have built in GPU chipset so I can't try removing my Geforce card nor can I borrow A GPU from anyone else. What are my options? I was looking into getting a completely new rig around Christmas so I'm not freaking out about this. If everything points to hardware issue I may simply decide to get the new machine earlier and don't bother with fixing this one. However it would be great to learn more if this is indeed situation that has slim chances of getting sorted. I realize BSOD Code 16 is rather popular topic online but every story seems a bit different and there can be number of issues with it. Hence a new thread.

  • Share history in multiple zsh shell

    I am trying to setup zsh so that it shares command history between different zsh sessions: in multiple tabs in multiple gnome-terminals in different screen sessions I have put this in .zshrc #To save every command before it is executed (this is different from bash's history -a solution): setopt inc_append_history #To retrieve the history file everytime history is called upon. setopt share_history but that does not work. e.g. I type 1 command: gedit afile and then I go to and zsh and type history.   • Render a 3D image as a 2D vector image

    Is there any software that will take a 3d model (in any format) and allow you to render it as a 2D vector image (preferable as either an .SVG or .PDF)? My intention is to render LEGO building instructions this way. While there are many tools that let you view them or generate nice, rasterized output, I'd really like to be able to generate vectorized output. Textures are not needed, and hidden line removal may not be needed. I could use a tool that works on any platform (although my preference is OS X, Linux, then Windows). Open source is preferred. If no one knows of a tool that does this, does anyone have a good recommendation of something to hack on and add a feature to output via Cairo?

    Hi I am thinking about buying a DVI splitter cable online and a DVI- HDMI adapter. Can i use these to clone my monitors output so one can go to my monitor, and the other to my projector? Can anyone think of any issues with using the adapter like this? Would there be problems with signal lose or anything? Thanks

    I'm trying to retrieve a list of multiple service statuses in Unix. I'm using the service command: man page. The statuses all start with the transmission-daemon string, for example. I require the ability to list multiple services' statuses, with a single command. Here is what I'm currently trying (and failing) with: Here I'm trying to grab a list of statuses using grep. service $(ls /etc/init.d | grep "transmission-daemon") status Here I'm trying to list all statuses, and then grep for them. service --status-all | grep "transmission-daemon" This produces the following, which isn't much help: How can I effectively achieve what I require with a single command, so that I can then continue piping to awk for further customisation?   • Single NFS folder shared across multiple clients

    I'm trying to mount a single NFS folder from server say "/share/folder" to multiple clients up to 32 clients, and the clients tries to access the folder and create files. The problem I'm facing is that when I execute the write command I see only one client is able to access the folder the remaining clients are blocked and not able to proceed to write. So, is whatever I'm trying to do above is correct? Can we write/read files from the same folder on multiple clients? if yes how can I do it prallel? Kindly advice! Thanks

    Video card is: AMD HD 6950 My video card comes with 1xHDMI, 2xDVI, and 2xMini DV ports. I have always used VGA and DVI only. I have the HDMI already connected. I want to hook up 2 more display. One of the display can take a VGA only, the other is an LCD TV so it has VGA, HDMI, Component. I am wondering: 1) What is the best output port to use for the second two monitors? The miniDV or the DVI? 2) I need to run a long cable maybe 15-25 feet, this might change the answer to question 1, is an HDMI long cable 20+ ft going to be better than a 20ft DVI or miniDV ?

  • Looking for a router with multiple WAN ports and load balancing

    I'm going to be moving in a few months. The location I'm moving to is great except it's on a road with very few people, so the internet access option is limited to DSL at 1.6Mbps down, 384kbps up. This is much slower than I'm used to. One option is to get at least two of the DSL lines. There's also good possibility that I'll be able to get WiMax or similar. I've been looking around a bit and it seems like what I need is a load balancing router with multiple WAN ports. Can anyone recommend some good ones? I could also go with a small power efficient Linux box with multiple NICs. What would be good software for that? It'd need to be able to handle around 10Mbps. Thanks for any help

  • Cisco ASA 5505 inside interface multiple ip addresses

    I have an issue this morning where I want to be able to assign multiple ip addresses to the inside interface to facilitate an ip range migration for an office. Namely from a 192.168.1.x range to the new range, with the minimum of interruption for those working in the office. (New DHCP leases will use the new range, whilst those still on the 192.168.1.x range can continue to work until their lease is renewed). However I can not for the life of me figure out how to achieve this, trying to create multiple interfaces for the job leads to complaints about the license only allowing 2 active interfaces.     Since I moved my computer there's no display when I plug my screen in the video card but works fine in the mother board. I tried reseting the cmos, but I still have the same problem. The fans are spining and there's a light from the card. I tried the DVI ports and the HDMI Here's my build. I have it for 2 months and everything was working fine. Do you think it's the video card?   • Is HDCP working for ATI/AMD cards on windows 8?

    I have an AMD 6950 and am running windows 8 RTM. I've tried the Catalyst 12.8 drivers and the 12.9 beta drivers. With either drive HDCP seems to be non operational. I've got two dell monitors, one a u2410 and the other a 2408wfp. Both were previously identified as supporting HDCP in windows 7 with the same hardware. I've tested the monitors individual on both DVI and display port, and neither one works. I'm using cyberlinks BD-Advisor to test. My end goal is getting the DirecTv2PC app working again, which is by cyberlink for DirecTV, and requires HDCP. Currently it shuts off when you start playing a recording.

  • Why are PNG-8 files mangled when opened in Photoshop?

    Why are some 32 bit PNGs opened in Photoshop with Indexed Colors and no transparency? For instance, I grabbed a png icon file of the Stack Overflow logo at: http://blog.stackoverflow.com/wp-content/uploads/icon-so.png When opening it in Photoshop CS3, it apparently treats it as indexed color and gets rid of the alpha channel. The image on the right is a screen grab of the icon. Changing the Image mode in Photoshop to RGB doesn't change the image at all. I've tried this with a few other PNGs and it seems hit or miss. When viewed in other programs, it displays fine. left:png opened in Photoshop, right:screen grab of png from browser What gives?, does Photoshop not interpret the PNG file format correctly?

  • ATI Radeon 5850 video card one analog, one digital and one tv connected to hdmi, unable to run all 3

    I have one analog monitor connected through dvi adapter one digital monitor connected through dvi tv connected through hdmi I'm unable to run all 3 at the same time, when I try to extend desktop it asks me to disable one of the monitors so I can only have 2 at one time. I tried finding solution but according to some forums I should be able to achieve it since one is analog I should be able to run 3 outputs with hdmi that way. Does any one have any suggestions?     This question is similar to SSH public key authentication - can one public key be used for multiple users? but it's the other way around. I'm experimenting on using ssh so any ssh server would work for your answers. Can I have multiple public keys link to the same user? What are the benefits of doing so? Also, can different home directories be set for different keys used (all of which link to the same user)? Please let me know if I'm unclear. Thanks.

  • System won't boot: Gigabyte HD 7790 1GB OC GPU issue or Corsair VS550 PSU issue?

    Installed a new GPU, and PC won't boot. Turn it on and: No monitor signal at all (tried HDMI and VGA via DVI, on 2 working monitors). CPU and GPU fans DO spin, but No system beeps, no sounds from drives (they might make a small noise in the first 1 second or so, but there's definitely no OS loading or anything like that) If hit "power off" button it turns off immediately (no holding down for 3 seconds like usual) If I put my old HD 5670 GPU back in, everything works fine. But (plot twist!) card is not totally dead. My friend put it in his PC, and it works fine (he even played a game for 15 minutes, no issues). He has a Corsair TX850 850W and a Gigabyte MB. So my main theory is: the GPU isn't getting enough power from the PSU. But is it: Bad PSU? Seems unlikely, since it works fine with the other GPU. Also, the PSU Is brand new and 550W (single 42A/504W 12V rail). Overkill for this GPU. Corsair is a decent brand, but maybe just mine is faulty? Bad GPU? Could it be drawing more power than it should be, somehow, or something? Supposedly HD 7790 needs only 21A/75W on the 12v rail, though this one is factory overclocked a bit... but should that triple the power requirement? Something else? Could there be a motherboard incompatibility somehow? Both MB and GPU are less than a year old and PCI Express 3.0 x16. Things I've tried: Re-seating the video card Testing PC with old GPU (works fine, same PCIe slot). Checked AMD's stated amp/watt requirements of a 7790 and my PSU (see above). My PSU can output twice the amps (single rail) and 5x the Wattage a 7790 needs. Here are the full specs: Gigabyte HD 7790 1GB OC GPU Corsair VS550 550W PSU 4GB RAM AsRock H61M U3S3 motherboard i3-2100 500GB SATA HDD (2007-ish) blu-ray drive (new) PCI 802.11g card Edit: Motherboard BIOS Update seems to have fixed it. (If anyone has same problem and it doesn't work, comment here).

  • wildcard host name bindings for multiple subdomains in multiple sites on IIS7 with a single IP address

    Situation: I have a single windows 2008 server with a single public IP address. I have multiple domains with wildcard A records pointing to the single IP address. I need each domain to be hosted by a different web site. (i.e. www.domain1.com by site domain1site) I need domain1.com to act like www.domain1.com I need each site to be able to have multiple subdomains (i.e. www.domain1.com, abc.domain1.com, xyz.domain1.com) Not relevant yet here it goes, I plan to handle each subdomain by a different application hosted in the same site (i.e. application /xyz in domain1site) However I found out that IIS7 does not support creating web sites with wildcard host name binding and setting it without any subdomain (i.e. domain1.com) does not work, even for www.domain1.com. Is there a simple solution? Does any IIS Extension like Application Request Routing provide such capability?

  • How to embed word doc as background picture of an Access report using .EMF or equivalent ?

    My company's standard paper has logo, address and all the details in the right margin with a vertical blue line. I have that as a word template. I want to have the same thing as the background of my Invoices report. I managed to do that 5 years ago by saving to EMF format (vector format, prints out nicely) and putting the file as the background of the report. Now my company is moving, and I need to change the address on my invoices, but I can't find out how I did to convert the word doc to EMF. Any suggestion ? By EMF or another process, but I want to avoid BMP, which is huge and does not print nicely. Thanks !
