• jQuery/JavaScript: Trigger when preloaded

  Hello there, jQuery has the .ready() function, but I am unsure whether this is what I need: I set a default background image in CSS (imange 1 out of 4), once document is loaded (images and all, not only DOM); I want to start preloading background image 2 out of 4. Once that is loaded, I want to fade image 1 into image 2. Then I want to preload the next image (3 out of 4), once that is loaded, I want to fade from background image 2 into image 3, and finally preload image 4. Once image 4 is loaded, i would like to fade image 3 into image 4. After that, I want to cycle between the images with a set time interval. What strategy would I use to solve this? .load() function? • JQuery not working in IE7/8

I also can't see any errors in the IE debugger, though I'm not so used to how that works. Is there anything obviously wrong with the above code? It's placed at the end of the page

• Can't get jQuery and IE to be friends

  Using jQuery and the Cycle plugin. Runs flawless in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and the latest version of Opera. Won't run in older versions of Opera, and of course, IE. I know its running Java, because its picking up the rollovers. This is driving me batty. Hopefully its something simple.   Hi everybody, I have thought a bit recently about how to use getDelayed and getMulti in a PHP application, and their difference. From reading the documentation about getDelayed: "The method does not wait for response and returns right away. When you are ready to collect the items, call either Memcached::fetch or Memcached::fetchAll." So obviously there's a need to call fetchAll before having the keys available, unlike getMulti. But when is the actual memcached call being done? At fetchAll or when getDelayed is run?

  Hi, I've a div in a absolute position with a default "top" value set to "-200px". When i click on the div the "top" value is updated to "0". In this way I see the entire Div. This is the js: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#search_bar").click(function () { $(this).css("top","0"); }); }); Is there a way to achieve this result but with an animation? For example, a slide down effect? Also, when i click another time to the div I'd like that the "top" value will be restored to "-200px".

• jquery ajax call: multiple links load data into one div

  I have a dynamically generated list of links. Each link will request a different page to load. Depending on the link clicked I want it to fill the div with an ajax .load call. The thing is I want all links to reset and fill the same div. I am having trouble doing this without making a seperate div for each link, which isn't what I'm looking for.   I have the lat/lon of 2 points on the earth. They are really close together, <10m. Let's assume the earth is flat. How do I calculate the distance between them in metres? I know about tools (PostGIS, etc.) that can do this correctly, however I'm just doing a rough and ready type, and I'm OK with low accuracy. At such small sizes a difference of 1% is only 10cm, which is fine for me. I'm doing this in stock python. I'm OK with a standard Euclidean distance thing.

• How can I edit a js file sent by the server before it gets to my browser?

  During a normal browsing session I want to edit a specific javascript file before the browser receives since once it gets there it's impossible to edit. Is there are any tool for this? For what I need it I can't just save it and edit it on my disk. I'm ready to learn how to program it myself but if anyone can point out more or less what I have to do I'd be very grateful. I'd have to intercept the packets until I have the whole file while blocking the browser from receiving it any part of it, then edit it manually and forward it to the same port. I don't think I can do this by just using pcap, I've read a bit about scapy but I'm not sure if it can help me either. Thanks in advance.

• Godaddy registrar and Amazon Web Services EC2/Route 53

  Ok - I currently have a site hosted on Godaddy and they are the registrar for my domain. My goal is to have my site hosted on AWS with an EC2 server, which I have already set up and it is ready to go. In order to migrate my domain name to Amazon I have set up an A record with Godaddy and another A record with Route 53 (Amazon's routing service) with both of them pointing to the new static IP of the AWS site. My question is - Godaddy told me that I should leave my nameservers as Godaddy since my email is with them and set up an MX record wit Amazon pointing to it. Does this sound correct? Can you leave nameservers with Godaddy and have A records pointed to the new IP? Are there any benefits/cons to this? *FOR THE RECORD - My site is DOWN right now after doing the change - Godaddy says it will take 2 hours to come back, but I'm not sure if their nameserver recommendation is correct.
