• ASP.NET ObjectDataSource, change CommandName property of FromView Button

  I have an ObjectDataSource that I'm using with a FormView, and it works fine, but i want to change one small thing. On the FormView the button that fires the update has the CommandName attribute set to "Update," but I would like to change that attribute to something other than "Update" - when I do change that attribute the update no longer works. The reason I want to do this is I have multiple FormViews on the same page and need to have multiple update buttons. As you may see, in each row, I'm trying to build a link that will redirect to another action. That action requires customerId and some additional parameters. Additional parameters are different for each page where this partial View is using. So, i decided to make Action methods to pass that additional parameters in the ViewData as RouteValueDictionary instance. Now, on the view i have a problem, i need to pass customerId and that RouteValueDictionary together into Html.ActionLink method. That makes me to figure out some way of how to combine all that params into one object (either object or new RouteValueDictionary instance) Because of the way the MVC does, i can't create create a method in the codebehind class (there is no codebihind in MVC) that will join that parameters. So, i used ugly way - inserted inline code: ...script runat="server"... private RouteValueDictionary JoinParameters(int customerId, RouteValueDictionary defaultValues) { RouteValueDictionary routeValueDictionary = new RouteValueDictionary(defaultValues); routeValueDictionary.Add("customerId", customerId); return routeValueDictionary; } ...script... This way is very ugly for me, because i hate to use inline code in the View part. My question is - is there any better way of how i can mix parameters passed from the action (in ViewData, TempData, other...) and the parameter from the view when building action links. May be i can build this link in other way ? Thanks!

  Hi guys. I'm creating a page that searches for an item and then be able to edit/update it. I was able to do it when it returns just one result but when it gives me multiple results I could only edit the very last item. • Shortening jQuery Code by Replacing Variable

  I have a form with a bunch of dropdown options that I'm dressing up by allowing the option to be selected by clicking links and (in the future, images) instead of using the actual dropdown. There are a lot of dropdowns and most all will repeat the same basic idea, and some will literally repeat just with different variables. Here's the HTML for one of those. <tr class="box1"> <td> <select id="cimy_uef_7"> <option value="Boy">Boy</option> <option value="Girl">Girl</option> </select> </td> </tr> Then the corresponding fancier links to click that will select the corresponding option in the dropdown. <div id="genderBox1"> <div class="gender"><a class="boy" href="">Boy</a></div> <div class="gender"><a class="girl" href="">Girl</a></div> </div> So, when you click the link "Boy" it will select the corresponding dropdown value "Boy" There are going to be multiple Box#, so I can just repeat the jQuery each time with the new variables, but there's surely a shorter way. This is my best idea for shortening this code, as I'm still very much a beginner at jQuery, but I'm positive there are much better ideas out there, so feel free to recommend a better path if you see it :)

• Making a JQuery tooltip retrieve a new value every time the mouse moves.

  As i am developing an application that makes use of a tooltip that will display a different value when the user moves the mouse. The user mouses over a table cell and the application then generates a number, the further right the cursor moves in the cell, the higher the value increases. I have created a tooltip that runs and when the cursor mouses over the cell, it does indeed show the correct value. But, when the i move the mouse, it does not show the new value but just the older one.   Having problem with this bit of code qith jQuery. it should pick the values from current form and then submit them, but when I try to get them with jQuery they always turn up undefined. I know the SQL results are fine since they show correctly in HTML table, so it must be my inferior javascript skills. The value of the html.Encode is the correct value. When i reload the page the correct values are in the fields. Both times i build the viewModel the exact same way. The Kind can belong to many Items. but i get a "unknown attribute: kinds" in my OrdersController when i hit the submit form button. I use nested forms btw.   I populate web form with dynamic list of exams from database. I want user to enter examination marks for each exam. There is list of exam titles and textbox near each title.   Hi all I am trying to add two jquery plugins files to my application. When a user triggers my ajax event, the server will return text with a form button. The plugins (a jquery calendar) will work when the user clicks the form button inside the returned text .
