  Here is my problem: I have 2 tables: 1.WORKER, with coloumns |ID|OTHER_STAF| , where ID is primary key, and 2.FIRM, with coloumns |FPK|ID|SOMETHING_ELSE| , where combination FPK and ID make primary key, and also ID is a foreign key referenced to WORKER.ID (not null, and must have same value as in WORKER). I want to make stored procedure UPDATE_ID_WORKER, where I would like to change the value of specific ID in WORKER, and also in all instances of specific value of ID in FIRM. stored procedure: ........ @id .. ???? ........ • Creating multiple log files of different content with log4j

  Is there a way to configure log4j so that it outputs different levels of logging to different appenders? I'm trying to set up multiple log files. The main log file would catch all INFO and above messages for all classes. (In development, it would catch all DEBUG and above messages, and TRACE for specific classes.) Then, I would like to have a separate log file. That log file would catch all DEBUG messages for a specific subset of classes, and ignore all messages for any other class. Is there a way to get what I'm after? Thanks, Dan

  I'm looking for the best way to store per-Build configuration information for an iPhone app. In my iPhone app there are several url's and storage location settings that are specific to a particular build (DEBUG RELEASE etc) Currently i have three recipients for my app, QA/Test, myself and the customer, each has specific settings for the url's and storage locations mentioned above. whats the best way to do this? NOTE: they don't necessarily have to be defined in the build but what im looking for is advice on the best way to store alternate configuration settings. ALSO NOTE: i do not want these settings to be editable through the settings app thanks

  I want to create a specific generic method in Scala. It takes two parameters. The first is of the type of a generic Java Interface (it's from the JPA criteria query). It currently looks like this: def genericFind(attribute:SingularAttribute[Person, _], value:Object) { ... } // The Java Interface which is the type of the first parameter in my find-method: public interface SingularAttribute<X, T> extends Attribute<X, T>, Bindable<T> Now i want to achieve the following: value is currently of type java.lang.Object. But I want to make it more specific. Value has to be the of the same type as the placeholder "_" from the first parameter (and so represents the "T" in the Java interface). Is that somehow possible, and how? BTW Sorry for the stupid question title (any suggestions?)

• Licencing: release the same software with double licence

  In my free time, I develop (alone, sigh) a project, in particoular an application library. I've released it using GPL v3. At this time, this project has come very useful for a job. I'd like to release my OSS library toghether with the application using the same GPL v3 licence, with the exception that it can be linked for the specific application, or for the specific application vendor. AFAIK, the copyright owner can handle the entire source and licencing it, I did it; and probably the licence owner could cut&paste its own code, change its licence and use for other projects, isn't? But an GPL'ed library cannot be linked with a proprietary software, right? But software could be double-licenced, as MySQL does. So the question is: what should I do to allow the distribution of my GPL'ed library with a proprietary software, being the copyright owner?

  I can create a stack class quite easily, using push and pop accessor methods to an NSArray, however. I can make this generic to take any NSObject derived class, however, I want to store only a specific class in this stack. Ideally I want to create something similar to Java's typed lists (List or List) so that I can only store that type in the stack. I can create a different class for each (ProjectStack or ItemStack), but this will lead to a more complicated file structure. Is there a way to do this to restrict the type of class I can add to a container to a specific, configurable type?

• how to load an image to a grid using pygame, instead of just using a fill color?

  I am trying to create a "map of a city" using pygame. I want to be able to put images of buildings in specific grid coords rather than just filling them in with a color. I've tried some of the samples online but can't seem to get them to work. Any help is appreciated. If anyone have a good source for free sprites that I can use for pygame, please let me know. • Reshape data frame to convert factors into columns in R

  I have a data frame where one particular column has a set of specific values (let's say, 1, 2, ..., 23). What I would like to do is to convert from this layout to the one, where the frame would have extra 23 (in this case) columns, each one representing one of the factor values. The data in these columns would be booleans indicating whether a particular row had a given factor value... To show a specific example: Source frame: ID DATE SECTOR 123 2008-01-01 1 456 2008-01-01 3 789 2008-01-02 5 ... <more records with SECTOR values from 1 to 5> Desired format: ID DATE SECTOR.1 SECTOR.2 SECTOR.3 SECTOR.4 SECTOR.5 123 2008-01-01 T F F F F 456 2008-01-01 F F T F F 789 2008-01-02 F F F F T I have no problem doing it in a loop but I hoped there would be a better way.   I have a project that generates text (representing an interface and a class) based on metadata. I would like to take this generated code and insert it as a new class and interface directly into the currently opened solution under a specific project and directory. I will create the menu tool that will generate the class but what I don't know how to do is gain access to the following items from within my custom Visual Studio Extension: Iterate the current solution and find a project to dump the generated code into. Open a new file window within Visual Studio and inject the generated text that comes from my tool directly into that window. Create a new folder in a specific project within the current solution from within my custom extension. EDIT - To clarify I need to open a new file (e.g. Right Click on a Project - Add - New Class) and insert text into it from within my custom Visual Studio Extension. Thanks

• Supporting different locale regions using Rails i18n

  I'm using the standard Rails I18n API to localise some of our views. This is working really well, but we now have a few use cases for regional changes to the en locale. The API guide mentions that this isn't supported directly, and other plugins should be used. However, I'm wondering whether there's a simpler way to do this. I already have en.yml, so in theory I could just create en-AU.yml and en-US.yml which are effectively clones of en.yml but with a few regional changes applied. I could then add additional English - American and English - Australian options to our configuration which would map to the new region-specific locales and allow users to use a region-specific locale. The only problem I can think of with this is that it isn't DRY -- I would have duplicate translations for all common English words. I can't see a way around this. Are there any other disadvantages to this approach, or should I just bite the bullet and dive into one of the plug-ins such as Globalize2 instead?

• Exclude one or more elements from being connected (using connectWith) in jQuery's sortable lists

  I have two lists, one with an ID of "vlist" and one with an ID of "hlist". The "vlist" holds elements which should be visible, while the "hlist" holds items that should remain hidden. The idea here is to allow the administrator of the system to specify which elements/fields should be shown on a sign-up page, and which shouldn't. The two lists are connected using "connectWith", so the administrator can drag items from the visible list to the hidden list (or vice versa). My dilemma is that there are a few fields I want locked into the visible list, but still sortable within that one list. For example, the "username", "email" and "password" fields should be locked within the visible list (as they always need to be used for registration). Is this even possible? Perhaps it is a no-brainer that I simply haven't discovered yet. I've looked around through jQuery's documentation for a while and can't seem to find anything related to this scenario. I have found how you can "cancel" specific elements in the list from being sortable altogether or even disabled from being a dropable target, but this doesn't do it. The user should still have the ability to drag these items within the "visible" list, in case they want to adjust the ordering of the locked fields. I'm also aware that you can contain sortable elements within a specific element or DOM object, but this also can't be used as this only seems to apply to the whole sortable list, and not specific elements of that list. I've even tried to see if something like this would work after I built the sortable listing(s): $('#vlist > #slist-li-username').sortable('option', 'containment', '#vlist'); Obviously, that didn't work either or I wouldn't be posting this. • Java printf using variable field size?

  I'm just trying to convert some C code over to Java and I'm having a little trouble with String.printf. In C, to get a specific width based on a variable, I can use: printf("Current index = %*d\n", sz, index); and it will format the integer to be a specific size based on sz. Trying: System.out.println(String.format("Current index = %*d\n", sz, index)); results in an error since it doesn't like the *. I currently have the following kludge: System.out.println(String.format("Current index = %" + sz + "d\n", index)); but I'm hoping there's a slightly better way, yes?

• Verifying the purchaser of an App Store application

  Is there a way for the developer of an App Store application to tie a sale to an individual user/device ID/Apple account? In other words, a method for the developer to double-check that a specific user has legally purchased the software? I haven't been able to find a reliable answer to this yet. I'm not looking for specific code examples, just some sort of idea as to how possible (or difficult) this is. My intent isn't to penalize piracy; it's to be able to provide additional benefits to paid customers. As such, I'm not looking for a way to identify a cracked or pirated version, which I gather has already been solved. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  Our system would like our clients to link their accounts with different social media sites like youtube, vimeo, facebook, myspace and so on. One of the benefits we would like to give to the user is to transfer, update and delete files they have uploaded to our sites and transfer them to the social media sites mentioned above. this files could be videos, images or audio. We started thinking about using a strategy pattern, as all of these sites share a common process ( authentication, connection, use the API to transfer/edit/delete the file ), but we soon realized that it may not work as me may want to use some of the extended functionality that is specific to each service (eg: associate a youtube video with a channel, or upload images to a specific album on facebook, and much, much more...) My question is, what would be the best Structural Design Patter to use for this scenario?

• SSRS: Report loading external images, image not found, can I hide the image control

  My SSRS report loads logo images for each customer from a customer number specific folder on the report server. I write an expression, to form my URL to the image based on th customer number. ..."http://localhost/images/" + iCustomerNumber.ToString() + "/logo.gif" I am able to get this working, but the problem I face is, when a particular customer doesn't has an image, then my report shows a red X mark in place of the logo. In this case, I expect to hide the image control itself. Any thoughts???? The other dirty solution will be to ensure that each customer specific folder has the designated image! even if there is no logo for a customer, I'll place a blank.gif or a spacer.gif of probably a square pixel in dimension!.

  I have homework where I am to update a list using a function that takes two elements and returns a value of part of the first element given in the function. So it's required to update the entire listing by going through each element and update its value by applying the function against all other elements in the list (including itself). So far I've been trying to firstly map the list (so that each element is done the same) and then specifically update each elements value by mapping again just the value of the specified element however in trying to map just the specific value through: the function, the specific element and the entire list I keep getting complaints that I'm inferring the list of values made from the 'map function p@list list' rather than simply giving the value at p@list. Is this the correct method to try to update a list against the entire list itself? EDIT: spelling mistakes and grammar

• How to verify mail origin?

  I wish to code a little service where I will be able to send an e-mail to a specific address used by my server to send specific commands to my server. I'll check against a list of permitted e-mail addresses to make sure no one unauthorized will send a command to the server, but how do I make sure that, say, an e-mail sent by "[email protected]" really comes from "thezombie.net"? I thought about checking the header for the original e-mail server's IP and pinging the domain to make sure it is the same, but would that be reliable? Example: Server receives a command from [email protected] [email protected] is authorized, proceed with checks Server checks "thezombie.net"'s IP from the header: W.X.Y.Z Server pings "thezombie.net" for it's IP: A.B.C.D The IPs do not correspond, do not process command Is there any better way to do that?

• Reading Excel spreadsheets with Delphi

  I need to read from and write to Excel spreadsheets using Delphi 2010. Nothing fancy. Just reading and writing values from specific cells and ranges on different sheets. Needs to work without having Excel installed and support Excel 2007. Some things I've looked at: I've tried using ADO, which works OK for selecting everything in an entire sheet, but I haven't had much luck reading specific cells or ranges. NativeExcel looked promising, but it doesn't seem to be in active development, and they don't respond to e-mails. Axolot has a couple of products. The main product seems to be very functional, but is pricey. They have a lite version, but it doesn't support Delphi 2010. Any recommendations? Free would be great, but I'm open to a commercial solution as long as it's reliable and well supported.
