  Hi All! this is my very first time here! so nice to meet you guys! ;-) When i was starting with this job, ( when i have chosed of doing this for the rest of my life) i have thinked also, one day, before or after, i would become blind or at least sick by drinking 5 or more coffee per day and of course by sitting down on my pc for hours!!! ;-\ From many years now, i'm asking myself how my eyes can stay in front o the monitor for so many hours per day!? well now i'm to a point of no return!!! i feel my eyes each day more tired, and my productivity is waning, but i can't change work now and i don't want do this!!!! what i need to do for prevent this to become a more serious problem for me and for my eyes!? any suggestion will be really appreciated!!! • Get the number of calendar weeks between 2 dates in C#

  For the purposes of this question, let's assume the user will be from the US and will use the standard Gregorian calendar. So, a calendar week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. What I'm trying to do is determine the number of calendar weeks that exist between two dates. A perfect example of my problem exists in October 2010. Between 10/16 and 10/31 there are 4 calendar weeks. View a picture of October 2010 October 10 - October 16 October 17 - October 23 October 24 - October 30 October 31 - November 6 I'd prefer to stay away from any hardcoded logic like: if (Day == DayOfWeek.Saturday && LastDayOfMonth == 31) { ... } Can anyone think of a logical way to do this?

  My home Windows XP Pro SP3 machine is DHCP client receiving configurations from ISP. Trying to access in WindowsExplorer -My Network Places - Microsoft Windows Network shows Workgroup with a delay of 3 min and then popups messagebox: Microsoft Windows Network Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available OK I am logged-in as local machine Administrator. The internet is accessible (I am writing this post through it) The Firewall is disabled The "Computer Bowser" and all networking services, I could find, are running Control Panel -- Network Connections -- Properties (of connection) --- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), btn Properties --- --- tab General, btn "Advanced..." -- tab WINS-- rbtn "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" checked Why cannot I access my own PC (and shares on it) through My Network Places What is the possible problem? • Can't change user security on folder - Business Objects XI 3.1

  I've got a single folder within the list of All Folders that I can't change any user permissions on. I'm logged in as an admin and when I view security for the folder it says I have full rights to the folder yet i can't change anything on it or it's sub folders even though it clearly shows me as having rights to "Modify the rights users have to objects". As a test I added a new sub-folder called Test which created ok but I'm not able to then delete the sub folder or change it's permissions either. Interestingly we changed permissions on one sub-folder last week without issue but when I check that folder today I now can't update it. Any ideas anyone?

• Is there a Java Package for testing RESTful APIs?

  I'm getting ready to dive into testing of a RESTful service. The majority of our systems are built in Java and Eclipse, so I'm hoping to stay there. I've already found rest-client (http://code.google.com/p/rest-client/) for doing manual and exploratory testing, but is there a stack of java classes that may make my life easier? I'm using testNG for the test platform, but would love helper libraries that can save me time. I've found http4e (http://www.ywebb.com/) but I'd really like something FOSS.

• How do I identify which rewrite rule is being trigger on IIS 7.5?

  I have a set of rewrite rules (offhand, I would say around 40-50) for a given server. It's basically to handle and reroute mangled URLs so that bad links still go to where they're supposed to go. I've come across an URL that is redirecting and I can't figure out which rewrite rule it is applying. My background is Apache and in that case I'd simply enable a rewrite log and look at the logged output to figure out what was happening. Is there an equivalent way to do this in IIS? bonus round Any way for me to view & edit the rewrite rules in a text file rather than the GUI interface?

• Should a sysadmin contractor charge overtime for off-peak hours?

  This is not necessarily a server-related question, but more of a system admin question that I think would related to many on SF. I'm doing Sysadmin/IT consulting for a small company. I only work about 3 days a week for them on average. If a server goes down or something like that during off hours (nights, weekends, 3am, etc) and they need it fixed during those time periods, should I be charging overtime for that? I would I not be justified in charging overtime until I've logged 40 hours for the week? Perhaps calling it overtime isn't the best name. I guess maybe its better to call it an off-peak hourly rate. Anyways I just was curious what other consultants did in these circumstances.

• Override ~ behaviour in controls

  Quick backstory: I'm making a "framed" version of my site that has a different master page than normal (one suitable for iframing). It's accessed by mysite.com/Framed/whatever, instead of mysite.com/whatever. This is rewritten in IIS to mysite.com/whatever?framed=true. That works fine. The issue I'm having is that all the links are relative using a ~ like ~/Server.aspx which works fine in the normal site. I need to override that so instead of producing ../Server.aspx (as it "should") it produces ../Framed/Server.aspx or Server.aspx. Currently this means that the page goes back to it's normal view (mystite.com/whatever2) as soon as you click on a link, I want it to continue to stay in mysite.com/Framed/...

I tried to use both HTTtrack Copier and followed the instruction below, but it's not working! Q: I can not access several pages (access forbidden, or redirect to another location), but I can with my browser, what's going on? A: You may need cookies! Cookies are specific data (for example, your username or password) that are sent to your browser once you have logged in certain sites so that you only have to log-in once. For example, after having entered your username in a website, you can view pages and articles, and the next time you will go to this site, you will not have to re-enter your username/password. To "merge" your personnal cookies to an HTTrack project, just copy the cookies.txt file from your Netscape folder (or the cookies located into the Temporary Internet Files folder for IE) into your project folder (or even the HTTrack folder)

• Do you have any tips for comments to keep them in step with the code? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How do you like your comments? G'day, I've read both of Steve McConnell's excellent Code Complete books "Code Complete" and "Code Complete 2" and was wondering if people have any other suggestions for commenting code. My commenting mantra could be summed up by the basic idea of expressing "what the code below cannot say". While enjoying this interesting blog post by Jeff about commenting I was still left wondering "When coding, when do you feel a comment is required?" Edit: Oops. Seems to be a duplicate of this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/121945/how-do-you-like-your-comments so sorry for the noise. Thanks to my, seemingly, SO shadow for pointing it out - wouldn't have thought I was that interesting. Now off to read the original post and see if it is relevant. Edit: I meant to emphasise the best appraoch to ensure that your comments will stay in step with the code. Maybe expressing an intent rather than the mechansim for instance.

• Convert mediawiki to LaTeX syntax

  I need to convert mediawiki into LaTeX syntax. The formulas should stay the same, but I need to transform, for example = something = into \chapter{something}. Although this can be obtained with a bit of sed, things get a little dirty with the itemize environment, so I was wondering if a better solution can be produced. Anything that can be useful for this task ? This is the reverse of this question (graciously copied). Pandoc was the answer to that question, but probably not yet for this.

• PSAD Firewall/ UDP flood?

  Well I'm actually trying to block a UDP Flood on the Application port because the string "getstatus" is causing my application to make large output due to a small input to the attacker's IP. I installed PSAD firewall to do the job. psad -S shows 3000,000 logged packets at the application port and top ports in Scan but does not block the IP of the attacker however other IP Addresses with small number of connections are dropped. I'm thinking that since output is also being made to the attacker, this is why its not getting blocked because iptables rate-limiting is also exactly doing the same thing and not blocking the IP where outgoing connection is also made. Any guesses why it won't work?

  I have an application that accesses a sql server 2008 database. The server and database is stored on my local harddrive and I would like to learn to scale this up to having multiple users in our office access the application which I will i deploy on a server. For now the database will stay on my pc until I am ready to put it on a dedicated server for myself but for now how do I allow the application still to access my database. Here is my current connection string: <add key="ConnectionString" value="Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=SearchEngine;User ID=sa;Password=pss;Trusted_Connection=False;" /> Now I know how to deploy a general vb.net application but what I dont know is what to do with the database. • Virtual Desktop Provisioning - Vmware View 5.2 Maintenance Questions

  Currently running an environment of about 400 VMware View 5.2 virtual Desktops. The environment runs pretty efficiently but we sometimes run into problems with certain pools from time to time. Just recently we had a pool that was causing high write latency when users logged in. It just happened all of a sudden and had been working fine for weeks. On a hunch we completely broke down the pool and re-provisioned it from a new image. This corrected the problem. In fact every real issue we've had so far was fixed by a recompose or complete break down and re-provisioning of one pool or another.Our environment consists of Cisco UCS and Netapp 3240s using flashcache running VMware View 5.2. My questions are: What are some maintenance best practices other VDI admins are using? How often are you recomposing? rebalancing? re-provisioning? How long should you keep base image snapshots around?

• How to stop a curl while requesting or stop the running php script?

  I using url to request remote urls that sometimes may very slow or just down. In this case, my php scripts still waiting for the response, it makes apache has to many requests stay in memory and then overload. I need a way to stop curl requesting or stop running php script when specified time passed. I'd tried declare(), it makes no sense for curl. Can someone know how to solve it? BTW: what is the effect of CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT and CURLOPT_TIMEOUT? They don't work like what I think.

• JavaScript distributed computing project

  I made a website that does absolutely nothing, and I've proven to myself that people like to stay there - I've already logged 11+ hours worth of cumulative time on the page. My question is whether it would be possible (or practical) to use the website as a distributed computing site. My first impulse was to find out if there were any JavaScript distributed computing projects already active, so that I could put a piece of code on the page and be done. Unfortunately, all I could find was a big list of websites that thought it might be a cool idea. I'm thinking that I might want to start with something like integer factorization - in this case, RSA numbers. It would be easy for the server to check if an answer was correct (simply test for modulus equals zero), and also easy to implement. Is my idea feasible? Is there already a project out there that I can use?

If I cut (dd) and paste (P) a folded subroutine outside the module/end module block, the freshly pasted fold stay closed. If I paste it inside the module/end module block, the newly pasted folded region appears instead unfolded. Can you reproduce the issue (vim 7.2 here) and do you know any workaround/fix ?

  I have a USB disk which has 2 partitions.I exported one of them (on NFS) and now I am trying to mount it at client machine. Each time it gets error mount -t nfs 192.168.1.19:/media/vol2 /mnt/nfs/ mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.19:/media/vol2 Here is the /etc/exports file entry showmount -e on nfs server gives Export list for bond: /media/vol2 */24 On the client machine nfs-client package is installed. What more I need to check? Is it logged some where?

• Correct password for ssh key rejected when ssh-d into machine

  When I am logged into my machine directly, I can do all git operations, and when prompted for a password, the password is accepted. When I ssh into the same box and run git operations on the same repos, the password is rejected. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists. Using bash does not appear to make a difference (i.e. ssh-agent /bin/bash). This is a recent development, but I can't cite the change that caused it.

When I am logged in, I can create articles and other users have the ability to browse the articles. I want to be able to allow access to any anonymous non-user to be able to read these articles. REST.GET.OBJECT <media file> "GET <media file>" 400 InvalidArgument 354 - 4 - "http://<referer>" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_3) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1180.89 Safari/537.1" - I, for the life of me, can't figure out what's wrong. The url send to nginx by the app is valid, it works in the browser. And nginx is sending a request to s3.

• SharePoint : https area in a public website

  I'm working on a public website that was built using SharePoint (WSS). We need to add an area in the site where people will be able to purchase items with their credit cards and obviously the area needs to be secured. The website is using Form Based Authentication and the users need to stay logged in when they are moved back and forth from the https zone. I know how to enable SSL for a new web application / site collection but this isn't really an option for me as the website is already online and we don't want the whole thing to be secured. I am comfortable with the development of the webparts involved (payment module, shopping cart, etc.) but I can't really figure out how to create only certain https pages when the site collection is created. Can you have features that deploy pages that are secured? If so, how? Can you have a zone where SSL is enabled but where the users are redirected to and from without losing their authentication (FBA)? Thanks!

I would like to use Window.Top to set the position of the window, but I think due to animations I cannot set the top. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? • jQuery fadeout a div that's revealed by php and not Javascript?

  Seems like this might be easy, but from reading other SO answers there are a number of ways for it to possibly work: I have the "thanks" div below that shows when a php form is sucessfully submitted: <?php if(isset($emailSent) && $emailSent == true) { ?> <div class="thanks"></div> The page does not reload after the form is submitted; the php for the form is included in the page header, the php above is in <body>, and when the form is submitted, the "thanks" div appears. Question: How can the div be faded out (or simply removed) after a few seconds? Document ready doesn't seem like it would work because the page is not reloaded. Can jQuery detect the appearance of the div and then start the fadeout timer? If possible, I'd like to stay with the php form and not move to a jQuery form.

  My boss asked me to set up Google Apps for a client and basically I have done everything including setting up MX records in DirectAdmin and re-creating the email accounts in Google Apps. I also sent a few test emails to ensure that it actually works and it seems fine. But then I discovered this article talking about changing the SPF record for the domain. http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=178723 After reading the introduction I think it would be better for me to change the SPF record according to this article. So I logged in to the DirectAdmin and navigated to the DNS management, and then I found that there's already a TXT SPF record there: v=spf1 a mx a:spf.cabin.com.hk include:gmail.com -all And it looks like it's already including gmail.com, but according to the article it should be: _spf.google.com rather than: gmail.com I dare not to change it before I understand what this record actually means. What would you do with this record if you were me?
